• How do I call window.openDatabase from a webView hosted in an android application?

  I created a native Android app that basically hosts a webView control. That webView is then used to load a page that calls window.openDatabase from JavaScript. I can successfully confirm that the API exists by verifying window.openDatabase. Calling this method returns a null when called in a hosted webView control. Calling the same method in the Android Browser returns an instance of the database. Does anyone know the permessions in the manifest or settings on the webView control that need to be set to access the database? Is this even possible in a native app.

  So I am getting the same issue as mentioned here - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1366746/gem-install-mysql-failure-in-snow-leopard But I haven't been able to get it fixed using the answers on this link. Here's a brief history - I had MAMP on my machine, but now I downloaded the latest MySQL from mysql.com and installed version 5.1.46 this new version runs fine and client "mysql" is able to connect and I also have XCode v3.2.1, since someone mentioned that it can cause issues. Here's the error - **Building native extensions. This could take a while...   I've already done some extensive search, but I can't seem to find anything matching my problem. The task I'm currently working on is to create a WCF-Wrapper for some DCOM-Objects. This already works great for the most parts, but now I'm stuck with one invocation that expects a VT_ARRAY containing VT_RECORD-Objects. Marshalling as VT_ARRAY is not a problem, but how can I tell COM that the elements in this array are VT_RECORDs? This is the invocation as I current use it. InitTestCase(testCaseName, parameterFileName, testCase, cellInfos.ToArray()); The parameter I'm talking about is the last one. It's defined as List<CellInfo>, CellInfo itself is already attributed with Guid("7D422961-331E-47E2-BC71-7839E9E77D39") and ComVisible(true). It's not a struct but a class. This is the condition failing on the native side: if (VT_RECORD == varCellConfig.vt)... Because of old software using these interfaces, changing the native side is not an option Any idea?

• Eclipse c++ with mingw comiler cant build boost regex example, can find .a library files

  Hi, I'm trying to build the boost regex example in eclipse using mingw on vista. I built boost ok with mingw as there are library files XXXX.a. I could build/compile the first boost example that doesnt require any of the compiled boost libraries. When I compile the regex example I get a linker error saying it cant find the library file. I have tried various libray file names eg leave off the .a extension, leave off the lib prefix etc. Now the interesting thing is that if I leave off the library extension and rename the library file to XXX.lib it works and runs ok. So why cant it read the .a library file? It must be my setup somewhere but I dont know where or what to set. From what I read everyone is ok linking the .a file except me :( Thanks in advance, Kim

• J2me Blackberry Numeric Input

  Hello, I am developing a blackberry application using j2me and LWUIT (blackberry port). Everything works great except for the TextField in numeric mode. Basically when you have focus on the TextField you have to first go into "NUMERIC" mode (by pressing alt + aA) in order to input, which is not user friendly and a problem. The proposed solution is to use a TextArea instead that allows you to open a NATIVE type input box. The problem there is that the user needs to focus the field and then press the fire button which again is unfriendly. Does anyone know of any simple solutions? The few solutions i have in mind (but not sure how to do them): 1) Capture any keypress on the TextArea and go into NATIVE mode, instead of just the fire key. 2) Put the blackberry input mode into numeric using code for the whole form.   When adding a QComboBox control in Qt Designer, I get a terrible looking, non-native control, see: http://curiouschap.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/stack_qcombobox_question.png [as a newbie, SO wouldn't let me insert the image] On digging further, it turns out that two of the parent controls, QParentWindow and QStackedWidget, have style sheets that QComboBox is inheriting. If I delete the custom styles, then I get a native QComboBox like the one on the left. How can I have QComboBox (and widgets generally) NOT inherit parent styles? Or, how can I create a style for, say, QParentWindow, and do it so that it's local only and does not cascade?

  What are the best practices in developing rich UI extensions for ASP.NET MVC (I mean asynchronous / partial loading, slick effects, skinning etc) ? I saw that Telerik has an MVC suite of extensions, but haven't tried them yet, so I cannot comment on them. My biggest concern as of the moment is how to structure the code of my extensions so that C#, ASP markup, and JQuery remain separate from each other, yet encapsulated in a way that the extension must be easy to distribute and reuse. I know that the user control approach had many flaws, yet it sort of allowed application developers to just reference a control, set some parameters and get it going in a few minutes. I'd like to achieve the same kind of portability/reusability as I still keep the code easy to extend and build upon. Now, some ideas that come to mind as topics for discussion are: template helpers vs. extension method helpers or a possible integration efficient use of jQuery - naming conventions - - asynchronous action loading - etc you can add whatever comes to your mind

• Using SCons as a build engine for distutils

  I have a python package with some C code needed to build an extension (with some non-trivial building needs). I have used SCons as my build system because it's really good and flexible. I'm looking for a way to compile my python extensions with SCons ready to be distributed with distutils. I want that the user simply types setup.py install and get the extension compiled with SCons instead of the default distutils build engine. An idea that comes to mind is to redefine build_ext command in distutils, but I can't find extensive documentation for it. Any suggestion?

  Hi, I've created certificate wix extension (extension of IisExtension). This includes a custom table, which is consumed by a custom action. A column is defined as follows: <columnDefinition name="Account" type="string" length="72" primaryKey="yes" modularize="property" category="formatted" description="..." /> This column contains values like "[Property]". When the custom action reads this column like this: hr = WcaGetRecordString(hRecCertificate, vcpqAccount, &pwzTemp); it get's the string "[Property]". But I need "PropertyValue".   For performance tests I need a way to measure the time needed for a form to load its definition from the DFM. All existing forms inherit a custom form class. To capture the current time, this base class needs overriden methods as "extension points": start of the deserialization process after the deserialization (can be implemented by overriding the Loaded procedure) the moment just before the execution of the OnFormCreate event So the log for TMyForm.Create(nil) could look like: - 00.000 instance created - 00.010 before deserialization - 01.823 after deserialization - 02.340 before OnFormCreate Which TObject (or TComponent) methods are best suited? Maybe there are other extension points in the form creation process, please feel free to make suggestions.

• Using Linq methods causes missing references to DependencyObject in WindowsBase

  I have some c# source that I want to compile using CodeDom within my application (for a plugin) Everything works fine, except if I use a Linq extension function on some of my collections var dict = new Dictionary<KeyType, ValueType>(); .... dict.Any(KV=>KV.Key == "Some Key); When I try to compile source that has this code, it CodeDom complains that I am missing a reference to DependencyObject in WindowsBase. I do not understand why this is happening. Neither the Dictionary class, or the Any extension method reference that class, which apparently is part of Windows.Forms I would normally just ignore the quirk, make the CodeDom add a reference and move on, but Apparently WindowsBase is special and is not always distributed and I don't want to cause issues for users that may not have it installed correctly.
