• ASP.NET 3.5 Web Site stopped importing System namespace by default

  I have a VB Web Site project that has recently (and mysteriously) stopped importing the "System" namespace by default. I'm having to either place a "Imports System" line at the top of each code behind, or preface everything with "System", which is fairly annoying, not to mention redundant. I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the System namespace back to being imported by default. I've already checked to see that WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\CONFIG\web.config contains the <add namespace="System"/> line--it does. That was my best lead. I'm tearing my hair out. Does anyone have any suggestions?

• Problem with Apache Commons Id UUID Version 1 generation

  My problem is to generate version 1 UUIDs. We use Jetty 6.x, Maven (to start Jetty among other things) and Apache Commons ID (to generate UUID version 1 from the current time). Apache Commons ID requires a configuration file that is told to the JVM, using a parameter, e.g. 'org.apache.commons.id.uuid.config.resource.filename=commons-id-uuid.xml'. I checked the Apache Commons ID code and it tries to find the file from the classpath. Jetty's documentation states that WEB-INF/lib and WEB-INF/classes are in the classpath. The 'commons-id-uuid.xml' can be found from the deployed war file from the root of WEB-INF/classes directory but Jetty cannot load it: Message: java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.IllegalStateException: commons-id-uuid.xml loaded as system resource is null Jetty was started using the following command: mvn jetty:run -Dorg.apache.commons.id.uuid.config.resource.filename=commons-id-uuid.xml Any idea what is going wrong? We just need to generate UUID version 1 identifiers. Any suggestions?

• Rails session cookie not getting set

  I have a rails app that is a CMS that uses dynamic subdomains for each site. For some reason when I deployed to production the session cookie is not getting set. I'm thinking this is leading to the "Invalid Authenticity Token" errors that are being thrown everywhere. I have my production.rb setup so that I can share sessions across subdomains.   I have the timezone set. config.time_zone = 'Mountain Time (US & Canada)' Creating a Christmas event from the console... c = Event.new(:title = "Christmas") using Time: c.start = Time.new(2012,12,25) = 2012-12-25 00:00:00 -0700 #has correct offset c.end = Time.new(2012,12,25).end_of_day = 2012-12-25 23:59:59 -0700 #same deal using DateTime: c.start = DateTime.new(2012,12,25) = Tue, 25 Dec 2012 00:00:00 +0000 # no offset c.end = DateTime.new(2012,12,25).end_of_day = Tue, 25 Dec 2012 23:59:59 +0000 # same I've carelessly been using DateTime thinking that input was assumed to be in the config.time_zone but there's no conversion when this gets saved to the db. It's stored just the same as the return values (formatted for the db). Using Time is really no big deal but do I need to manually offset anytime I'm using DateTime and want it to be in the correct zone?

Clearly they're functions, but I was wondering if there's a more specific term. A couple examples of Python built-in functions that fit this spec are: 'len', 'dir', 'vars' I thought it was 'predicate', but apparently that's specific to functions that return a boolean value.

  I have a c# library project, that i configured using nhibernate, and I like people to be able to import this project and use the project. This project has FrontController that does all the work. I have a connection string in hibernate config file and in app.config file of another project. it would be nice for anyone to be able to set the connection string into this library project and use it. such as through a method which will take the connectiong string as parameter. or when creating a new instance of FrontController to pass the connection string to constructor. or if you have a better idea. How to do this? I d like this class library to use the same database of the project that s imported. How to set hibernate connection string programatically? same idea for log4net.

  I am currently using datasets for my data access layer. I currently store the connection string in the web.config file. I need the ability to change the connection to another database before any queries are processed. Is there an event that is triggered or a base class that can be modified that intercepts the process of retrieving the connection string from the web.config file? Is there any way to handle multiple database connections using the same code base and also take advantage of the connection pooling? I understand the best method is to get rid of datasets and use custom data objects. Any ideas?

  After searching a lot i did not get any answers and finally i had to get back to you. Below i am explaining my problem in detail. It's too long, so please don't quit reading. I have explained my problem in simple language. I have been developing an asp.net mvc project. I am using standard ASP.NET roles and membership. Everything is working fine but the remember me functionality doesn't work at all. I am listing all the details of work. Hope you guys can help me out solve this problem. I simply need this: I need user to login to web application. During login they can either login with remember me or without it. If user logs in with remember me, i want browser to remember them for long time, let's say atleast one year or considerably long time. The way they do it in www.dotnetspider.com,www.codeproject.com,www.daniweb.com and many other sites. If user logs in without remember me, then browser should allow access to website for some 20 -30 minutes and after that their session should expire. Their session should also expire when user logs in and shuts down the browser without logging out. Note: I have succesfully implemented above functionality without using standard asp.net roles and membership by creating my own talbes for user and authenticating against my database table, setting cookie and sessions in my other projects. But for this project we starting from the beginning used standard asp.net roles and membership. We thought it will work and after everything was build at the time of testing it just didn't work. and now we cannot replace the existing functionality with standard asp.net roles and membership with my own custom user tables and all the stuff, you understand what i am taling about. Either there is some kind of bug with standard asp.net roles and membership functionality or i have the whole concept of standard asp.net roles and membership wrong. i have stated what i want above. I think it's very simple and reasonable. What i did Login form with username,password and remember me field. My setting in web.config: <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms loginUrl="~/Account/LogOn" timeout="2880"/> </authentication> in My controller action, i have this: FormsAuth.SignIn(userName, rememberMe); public void SignIn(string userName, bool createPersistentCookie) { FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie(userName, createPersistentCookie); } Now the problems are following: I have already stated in above section "I simply need this". user can successfully log in to the system. Their session exists for as much minutes as specified in timeout value in web.config. I have also given a sample of my web.config. In my samplem if i set the timeout to 5 minutes,then user session expires after 5 minutes, that's ok. But if user closes the browser and reopen the browser, user can still enter the website without loggin in untill time specified in "timeout" has not passed out. The sliding expiration for timeout value is also working fine. Now if user logs in to the system with remember me checked, user session still expires after 5 minutes. This is not good behaviour, is it?. I mean to say that if user logs in to the system with remember me checked he should be remembered for a long time untill he doesn't logs out of the system or user doesn't manually deletes all the cookies from the browser. If user logs in to the system without remember me checked his session should expire after the timeout period values specified in web.config and also if users closes the browser. The problem is that if user closes the browser and reopens it he can still enter the website without logging in. I search internet a lot on this topic, but i could not get the solution. The users are complaining about the same thing in their comments ut there is no easy solution given in by Mr. Scott.   Hi all, I'm new to Symfony and I'm going through the Jobeet tutorial v1.4 for Doctrine. I am currently stuck on Day 3. I've followed all the instructions on configuring the database and building models and modules; however, when I try to access "http://localhost:8080/frontend_dev.php" I receive the following error: 'Configuration "config/databases.yml" does not exist or is unreadable.' My config/databases.yml file looks like this: all: doctrine: class: sfDoctrineDatabase param: dsn: 'mysql:host=localhost;dbname=jobeet' username: root password: mysecret Creating the tables and loading the fixtures seem to work fine after checking the database with phpmyadmin. • VS2010 MVC and Entity Framework Model in Separate Project

  Hi, I am trying to use an Entity Framework Model (in separate project) into an asp.net 4 MVC project (VS2010, C#) If I create the EF inside the MVC project I have no problems. I think I am missing some step. things done: 1. added reference to the EF class project 2. added connection string in MVC web.config 3. added reference to System.Data.Entity in both web.config and project references Now i can use the model only if I copy the .edmx file to the Models folder, but in this way the EF project is not external anymore. What am I missing? Thank you in advance.

My question is if we can save the items on ListCtrl so everytime someone opens the application, the items are there and if the user removes it, it also removes from the configuration. I know that I can use wx.Config and I'm trying to accomplish using that but I don't know how to read it in a way to accomplish what I want. So what I would like to know is a proper way to write/read the wx.Config in a way that everytime someone opens the application, the items from ListCtrl are there. Thanks in advance.

• Separate Database for Integration Testing

  I am performance integration testing where I fire up the ASPX pages using WatiN and fill the fields and insert into the database. There are couple of problems that I am facing. 1) Should I use a completely separate database for integration testing? I already gave db_test and db_dev. db_test is for unit testing and is cleared after each test. db_dev is for developers. 2) When I run WatiN test which are contained in a separate assembly (not separate from unit test assembly which should be better since WatiN test take so much time to run). So WatiN test fire up the WebApps project and uses their web.config which is pointing to the dev database. Is there anyway I can tell WatiN to use a separate web.config which contains a different database name?

• Rails: ValidationReflection and Formtastic not working together

  I installed validation_reflection as a gem and out of the box it picked up on my validates_presence_of validations. But it is not picking up on any of the other default rails validations such as validates_format_of. I know from the documentation that i am supposed to add something like: config.reflected_validations << :validates_format_of to my config/plugins/validation_reflection.rb file (which didn't exist initially). I did this but nothing changed (i restarted the web server in between). I am not sure if it just isn't picking up on my file and loading validation_reflection.rb or if i have done something wrong. Anyone have any insights?

  Whats the best way to enable users to log in with their email address OR their username? I am using warden + devise for authentication. I think it probably won't be too hard to do it but i guess i need some advice here on where to put all the stuff that is needed. Perhaps devise devise already provides this feature? like in the config/initializers/devise.rb you would write: config.authentication_keys = [ :email, :username ] To require both username AND email for signing in. But i really want to have only one field for both username and email and require only one of them. I'll just visualize that with some ASCII art, it should look something like this in the view: Username or Email: [____________________] Password: [____________________] [Sign In]

  I need to connect to a database in Sqlite so i downloaded and installed System.Data.SQLite and with the designer dragged all my tables.   Objective: In support of a Windows Service that may have multiple instances on a single machine, use a Setup Project to create an MSI capable of: Receiving user input for Service Name Installing service Serializing Service Name from 1 (so that the proper name can be used in logging and uninstall) My initial hope was to set Service Name in App.config (and then retrieve it during uninstall upon instantiation of the ServiceInstaller. This seems to have been naive, because it is not accessible during the install. If MyInstaller extends Installer, it can call base.Install(); however, my attempts to write to app.config (within MyInstaller.Install() and after base.Install()) are inneffective. So while the service can be installed with a custom Service Name, that name is not serialized and the installer is most displeased upon uninstall. How should this be done?

• "Disabled use of AcceptEx() WinSock2 API" error on Windows 7 using Tomcat

  When starting Tomcat 6 on Windows 7 Enterprise with JRE 6 using C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 6.0\bin\tomcat6.exe the application does not open and my event viewer has the message: "Disabled use of AcceptEx() WinSock2 API." The same installer of Tomcat worked on Windows Vista before I upgraded my operating system. Can anyone please suggest a way to fix this? The only site I can find mentioning this is http://www.apachelounge.com/viewtopic.php?p=4418 which suggests using this config setting "Win32DisableAcceptEx" - but it's for Apache, not Tomcat, and I have no idea where in what config file it might need to go in Tomcat.

• compiling numpy with sunperf atlas libraries

  I would like to use the sunperf libraries when compiling scipy and numpy. • Codeigniter: Retrieving a variable from Model to use in a Controller

  Hi, I bet this is easy but been trying for a while and can't seem to get it to work. Basically I am setting up pagination and in the model below I want to pass $total_rows to my controller so I can add it to the config like so '$config['total_rows'] = $total_rows;'. function get_timeline_filter($per_page, $offset, $source) { $this->db->where('source', $source); $this->db->order_by("date", "desc"); $q = $this->db->get('timeline', $per_page, $offset); $total_rows = $this->db->count_all_results(); if($q->num_rows() >0) { foreach ($q->result() as $row) { $data[] = $row; } return $data; } } I understand how to pass things form the Controller to the model using $this->example_model->example($something); but not sure how to get a variable from the model?
