  • Show information over image on rollover

    I want to be able to show information (HTML basically) over an image when the mouse rolls over the image... I know there is a .hover() jQuery function but am unsure how to use it to get the desired effect. Ideally when a user hovers over an image it would "grey out" (e.g. layer of 50% opacity black) with some HTML like a title etc etc. Can someone point me in the right direction or provide sample code Thanks

    I work for a company that writes several webapps that deal with a lot of sensitive information, such as full name, date of birth, address, and SSNs. Currently we don't have anything to measure site usage, but I would like to use Google Analytics to track usage and statistics about our users. What data is sent to Google when you use Analytics? If I put this on a page that contains any of the above information, will that data be sent to Google? Or are they just getting the necessary information like user agent and IP address?

  • Why would urls submitted in google webmaster tools drop to 0?

    Why would urls submitted in google webmaster tools drop to 0? It's a small site, only like 20 pages, I submitted the xml sitemap and for about a week it said 20 urls submitted. A day or so ago it indexed about 17 of the pages, but today when looking it not only says that 0 are indexed but also 0 have been submitted. I did a site search on google and found clearly that pages are indexed, is this just an error on google webmaster tools? Any help or thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

    This question already has an answer here: How did Google find my unlinked newly created pages? 3 answers I am working on a web project that has nearly 100 thousand instant users and there is a webpage that we are using for test cases. There are no links pointing to it from other pages. It shouldn't be indexed by Google or any other search engines. "noindex" can be used in this situation, I know but I wonder if Google (or any others) indexes this page, if I don't do anything to prevent it.

    Our site has subscription-only pages - non-subscribed visitors see a snippet preview. As per Google's FCF requirements, your first 5 hits to a subscriber-only pages with .google. as the referrer, you see the full page. In addition to this, should we whitelist search engine bots so that they can index the full content? I assume this is not required for Google, which can use FCF to index our content, but what about other search engines? Is this considered cloaking? My gut says that whitelisting bots past the paywall is bad practice., but I wanted to confirm - any evidence or references would be amazing.

  • Issues with an image link

    Two days ago I spontaneously bought myself a domain. The day before that, I hardly even knew what a domain really was. Since then, I've been trying to teach myself HTML for the very first time. Basically what I'm trying to say is, I'm very new - and will probably be poor in my explanations. I just succeeded in making an 'image-button', sorta. It's where I make a button-like image and then use it as navigation on my website (just like a regular link). My issue is that the link 'border' itself is bigger than the image, so you can press an inch outside the image itself and it will work. How do I make the invisible link 'border' the same size as the button? This is my site: http://www.djeveln.com On the test page (djeveln.com/test) is where I test things.     I'd like for my app to be able to tell if an image hasn't been viewed in the last 30 days and remove it (along with data in the DB associated with it). I know you can have PHP read and output the image dynamically but I've heard its quite taxing on the system. Is there a way to for me to track these hits even when the image is viewed directly? (would htaccess be able to do this?) Thanks in advance.

    I'm trying to create a map for a game through an image, where each black pixel is equivalent to a wall, and yellow to flowers(1) and green grass(0) so far i had this image (50x50): http://i.imgur.com/Ydj9Cp2.png the problem here seems to be that, when i read the image on my code, it get's scaled up to 100x100, even tough i have it on the raw folder. I can't let it scale up or down because that will put noise and blur on the image and then the map won't be readable. here i have my code: (...)     I have a web page where people will be able to enter multiple destinations. When they state they want to enter a new destination, the current field values are stored in arrays. If they choose to go back to a previous destination, the relevant values are reinserted into the form fields. I am using the search field linked to autocomplete as the visible display of the destination. When I attempt to put a value into the linked search field, the value is presented as if it is a placeholder instead of a value.     Hello I want to change default post search order to order: sample cat 1 sample post from cat 1 sample post from cat 1 sample cat 2 sample post from cat 2 sample post from cat 3 sample cat 3 etc.. So... I want to define category order and in search results will be sorted for this order and in category order will be date DESC. Only posts (no categories) will be visible. Anybody have any idea?

    I found this command line search and replace example: find . -type f -print0 | xargs -0 sed -i 's/find/replace/g' It worked fine except it changed the date and file ownership on EVERY file it searched through, even those that did not contain the search text. What's a better solution to this task? Thanks.
