• Open a new tab in a browser with the response to an ASP request

  It's a bit complicated this one... Lets say I have a listing of PDF files displayed in the user's browser. Each filename is a link pointing not to the file, but to an ASP page, say <--a href="viewfile.asp?file=somefile.pdf">somefile.pdf</a> I want viewfile.asp to fetch the file (I've done that bit OK) but I then want the file to be loaded by the browser as if the user had opened the PDF file directly. • What's the best self-tracking software for Linux?

  I'm looking for a way to track myself and receive quality data upon which I can write future scripts/programs. For example, I use Google Reader a lot. I'd like to track the hrefs that garner my clicks. Further, I'd like to drop all of the words of each href into a database where they can be stacked in a hierarchical manner. At the end of the week I want to know that "Ubuntu" garnered 448 clicks and "Cheetos" garnered 2. :) That's just one example... I'd like this tracking and data-collecting to extend beyond my browser. I know writing something to do this myself wouldn't be too awfully difficult but if something already exists I'd happily use it. Thanks in advance. Primary OS: Ubuntu 10.04

  I used to use this script for jquery email obfuscation: $(".replaceAt").replaceWith("@"); $(".obfuscate").each(function () { $(this).attr("href", "mailto:"+$(this).text()); }); <a class="obfuscate">name<span class="replaceAt">-AT-</span>server.com</a> But with jQuery 1.4.x, I now get this error: uncaught exception: Syntax error, unrecognized expression: @ Looking this up on the net, it looks like jQuery thinks that the @ is a special character. I tried to "\@" it and a few other things with not luck. I'm not enough of a jQuery ninja to know how to fix this. Any ideas?

• SVG with external images doesn't load them when embedded with <img> tag in browsers

  I made the following observation: If I create an svg image that references an external raster image via "xlink:href" and try to load the svg in browsers, the external images are only shown if I use the tag, but not when using the tag. Rendering with the tag is quite slow and not as clean as using the img tag for images so I was wondering if there's a way to make it work through the tag. At first I thought it doesn't work because of a same origin policy, but even if the referenced image is in the same directory and I reference it through its name only, it wont load. Any ideas?

  In menu.html, I have my menu items(a href links), let's call them, menu_1, menu_2, .... In map.js displays the contents of a map, it calls an API to display some layers and maps. I have a lot of maps to show but i only want to call the api once. Using AJAX, I was wondering if it's possible to have an if/then or select/case in my js, so that if menu_1 is clicked, then implement map_1 etc. without having the page to reload. The only way I thought I could do this is using Post/get .. so when you click on menu_1 it takes you to page.php?page_id=1 . JS will read that and display the map. I'm new to JS and AJAX so please feel free to butcher me

  I have a javascript application and when I run it on firefox I am getting the following erro on the console: "The stylesheet was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/html" is not "text/css". DumbStuck!! EDIT: Note that it tells that "The stylesheet ABCD..." But ABCD is actually an HTML file. Edit (ANSWER) : Actually I had wrongly put href="", and hence the html file was refenecing itself as the CSS. Mozilla had the similar bug once, and it is from there I got the answer. But everyone's else answers helped me too. Thanks.

• Can't print elements in a DIV tag

  I am using a Drag-able and re-sizeable DIV's in this HTML file. Where the user will place the DIV tag to his desired place in a main parent DIV tag. Now I want to print this main DIV tag, but the problem is that the code which I'm using to PRINT this main DIV is printing in a sequence, like not the way user has arranged the DIV's. Also it doesn't take up the main DIV background IMAGE. here is the code. • Classic ASP, ASP.NET, IFrames and response.redirect issue....

  A client has an asp page with an iframe. The Iframe loads an asp.net page inside the asp classic page. The ASP.NET page is responsible for connecting to a webservice, displaying some data, and then when the user clicks a button it does a response.redirect another classic asp page. Since the asp.net page is in an iframe, the asp page loads inside the iframe when ideally it should be taking over the entire page. I have tried putting javascript in the final asp page to break out of iframes but it does not seem to fire. I tried doing onClientCLick() on the asp.net page and making it break out of the iframe using the following javascript top.location = self.location.href But since that sets the location it seems to refresh the page , breaks out of the iframe but does not fire the serverside onclick event which would then perform the backend calculations and do response.redirect. Any ideas on how I can make sure that the final asp page does not appear inside the iframe and breaks out of it ?

So how can I just select the next instance of .toggle-content without having use a bunch of parent()'s and next()'s?

  I have an FAQ in HTML (example) in which the questions refer to each other a lot. That means whenever we insert/delete/rearrange the questions, the numbering changes. LaTeX solves this very elegantly with \label and \ref -- you give items simple tags and LaTeX worries about converting to numbers in the final document. How do people deal with that in HTML? ADDED: Note that this is no problem if you don't have to actually refer to items by number, in which case you can set a tag with <a name="foo"> and then link to it with <a href="#foo">some non-numerical way to refer to foo</a>. But I'm assuming "foo" has some auto-generated number, say from an <ol> list, and I want to use that number to refer to and link to it.

  Hi All, I am having a very weird problem. I cannot for the life of me figure it out. The code for my page (at the moment), is this: <link rel="stylesheet" href="assets/css/default.css" /> But, why does it not load the stylesheet? When I move the stylesheet into the same location as the index.html page, and then change the references to it to point to the root dir, it works again? It never wants to work if the stylesheet is any more than 1 directory deep. Is this normal? Or should it still work?

  Before we start, strip_tags() doesn't work. now, I've got some data that needs to be parsed, the problem is, I need to get rid of all the HTML that has been formated very strangely. the tags look like this: (notice the spaces) < p > blah blah blah < / p > < a href= " link.html " > blah blah blah < /a > All the regexs I've been trying aren't working, and I don't know enough about regex formating to make them work. I don't care about preserving anything inside of the tags, and would prefer to get rid of the text inside a link if I could. Anyone have any idea? I want to open certain links in a new tab while ignoring ones with a certain class (before you ask I cannot put classes on the links I am trying to catch as they come from a CMS).
