    I know how they work conceptually, but how are signals and slots implemented in the Qt framework? Qt Creator treats them as keywords, but are they simply a set of macros, or is a special pre-processor required before these source files can be compiled? In other words, if I use Qt's signal/slot features in my code, can I easily compile it on any C++ compiler?

    Hi All, I had some fairly simple code in my app to invoke Edit Contact activity on a known good contact index that worked in Android 1.6 but is broken for me now in Android 2.1 on the Droid.     In C#, How would one go about spawning multiple threads and then sequentially adding results to a list before returning the entire result set? What are some best practices? I'm so far using an ManualResetEvent to signal when the last element has been processed by a thread. But when it returns, I need to have them consolidate the result sets in sequential order so that we don't get into contention issues with the return value list (total results).

    Just for the heck of it I'm trying to emulate how JRuby generators work using threads in C#. Also, I'm fully aware that C# haas built in support for yield return, I'm just toying around a bit. I guess it's some sort of poor mans coroutines by keeping multiple callstacks alive using threads.   • Python: Script works, but seems to deadlock after some time

    I have the following script, which is working for the most part Link to PasteBin The script's job is to start a number of threads which in turn each start a subprocess with Popen. The output from each subprocess is as follows: 1 2 3 . . . n Done Bascially the subprocess is transferring 10M records from tables in one database to different tables in another db with a lot of data massaging/manipulation in between because of the different schemas. If the subprocess fails at any time in it's execution (bad records, duplicate primary keys, etc), or it completes successfully, it will output "Done\n". If there are no more records to select against for transfer then it will output "NO DATA\n" My intent was to create my script "tableTransfer.py" which would spawn a number of these processes, read their output, and in turn output information such as number of updates completed, time remaining, time elapsed, and number of transfers per second. I started running the process last night and checked in this morning to see it had deadlocked. There were not subprocceses running, there are still records to be updated, and the script had not exited. It was simply sitting there, no longer outputting the current information because no subprocces were running to update the total number complete which is what controls updates to the output. This is running on OS X. I am looking for three things: I would like to get rid of the possibility of this deadlock occurring so I don't need to check in on it as frequently. Is there some issue with locking? Am I doing this in a bad way (gThreading variable to control looping of spawning additional thread... etc.) I would appreciate some suggestions for improving my overall methodology. How should I handle ctrl-c exit? Right now I need to kill the process, but assume I should be able to use the signal module or other to catch the signal and kill the threads, is that right? I am not sure whether I should be pasting my entire script here, since I usually just paste snippets. Let me know if I should paste it here as well.

    I am porting code from Matlab to Python and am having trouble finding a replacement for the firls( ) routine. It is used for, least-squares linear-phase Finite Impulse Response (FIR) filter design. I looked at scipy.signal and nothing there looked like it would do the trick. Of course I was able to replace my remez and freqz algorithsm, so that's good. On one blog I found an algorithm that implemented this filter without weighting, but I need one with weights. Now I come to the point where I want to be able to shutdown the program, for example for applying a patch. The server runs simply in a command prompt, how can I signal that I want to perform maintenance on it? I do not think reading System.In is feasible as I am also outputting text in the prompt. Checking the bean value, I discovered that it is correctly updated, indeed the component on the page is not updated! Well, according to the JBoss Docs I found: Ajax region is a key ajax component. It limits the part of the component tree to be processed on the server side when ajax request comes. Processing means invocation during Decode, Validation and Model Update phase. Most common reasons to use a region are: -avoiding the aborting of the JSF lifecycle processing during the validation of other form input unnecessary for given ajax request; -defining the different strategies when events will be delivered (immediate="true/false") -showing an individual indicator of an ajax status -increasing the performance of the rendering processing (selfRendered="true/false", renderRegionOnly="true/false") The following two examples show the situation when a validation error does not allow to process an ajax input. Type the name. The outputText component should reappear after you. However, in the first case, this activity will be aborted because of the other field with required="true". You will see only the error message while the "Job" field is empty.     There was an earlier thread on Java graph or chart library, where JFreeChart was found to be quite good, but, as stated in its FAQ, it's not meant for real-time rendering. Can anyone recommend a comparable library that supports real-time rendering? Just some basic xy-rendering - for instance, getting a voltage signal from data acquisition system and plotting it as it comes (time on x-axis, voltage on y-axis).

    What i did: create a project, edited the ui file with the designer tool, ran the project, everything is ok tried to add to my cppfile: connect( pushButton_bracketBegin, SIGNAL( clicked() ), this, SLOT( pushButton_bracketBeginAction() ) ); but i get the error "‘pushButton_bracketBegin’ was not declared in this scope". this is my first project in qt and it should be fairly simple i guess (but yet out of my grasp ) :) appreciate the help

  • CoreData : App crashes when deleting last instance created

    Hello, I have a 2 tabs application. In the first one, I'm creating objects of the "Sample" and "SampleList" entities. Each sampleList contains an ID and a set of samples. Each sample contains a date and temperature property. In the second tab, I'm displaying my data in a tableView. I implemented the - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView commitEditingStyle:(UITableViewCellEditingStyle)editingStyle forRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath method in order to delete SampleLists. In my xcdatamodel the delete rule for my relationship between SampleList and Sample is Cascade. My problem is that when I try to delete SampleList I just created, the app crashes and I receive a EXC_BAD_ACCESS signal. If I restart it, then I'm able to delete "old" sampleList without any problems. Earlier, I had the following problem : I couldn't display the the sampleLists I created since I launched the app, because it crashed too. I received also the EXC_BAD_ACCESS signal. Actually, it seemed that the date of the last sample created of the set was nil. If I am not releasing the NSDate I'm using to set the sample's date, I don't have this problem anymore... If anyone could help me to find out what could cause my troubles it would be great !!   • breakpoint inside QComboBox subclass not working

    I have subclassed QComboBox to customize it for special needs. The subclass is used to promote QComboBoxes in a ui file from QtDesigner. Everything works except that when I put a break point in a slot, the program does not stop at the breakpoint. I do however know that it is being called from the result it generates. I checked other slots in my program and they work fine with breakpoints. Doing a clean and rebuild all did not fix it. What could be causing this and is there anything I can do about it? The slot in question is the only one in the subclass and is called "do_indexChanged()".   • Implementing a command line in perl

    I used Term::shellUI module and almost every thing is working as expected but the issue is when I pressed ctrl+c I want to print "Please use ctrl+d to exit the shell" , for that I handle the signal but the message print only after I pressed the new line how to resolve this !
