    Before you stone me for being a heretic, There is a sort that proclaims to be O(1), called "Bead Sort" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bead_sort) , however that is pure theory, when actually applied I found that it was actually O(N * M), which is pretty pathetic. Now I want to speed things up and to split the work between several processes and to use one process to update the MySQL DB with the retrieved data from other processes.   • Best IDE for Ext JS

    I am wondering what everybody's opinion on the best IDE for Ext JS is. I was using Aptana and spent way too much time tracking down a problem which turned out to be an uppercase instead of lowercase letter. So far I've tried Aptana (with and without Spket) and JetBrains Web Storm. Aptana didn't really do anything and while Web Storm worked, it was incredibly slow. Any recommendations for IDEs and / or configurations to speed up Web Storm?

    I'm creating an application that will tell a user how far away a large number of points are from their current position. Each point has a longitude and latitude.   • Multiple flash video players on w3c-valid page is slow

    I have a web site that displays a column of flash videos. The page is w3c-valid. The problem is that the page loads very slowly and sometimes crashes my web browser. Until the page is fully loaded, the videos are slow to respond and play. Is there a way to make these videos load their preview images only? What should I do to speed the page up? The videos are 360x264.

I'm creating a game in .NET (only managed code) where no significant graphics is needed but still I would like to write it properly in order to not to lose performance for nothing.     I'm looking at adding a user comment ticker to my iPhone/iPad polling app (Show of Hands). The comments would obviously need to be pulled from a central web source - either a database or perhaps even simple flat files. The ticker would also need to support basic controls (speed, pause, etc.) Can anyone that had tried doing something like this point me to your work and/or pass along any implemetation ideas?   • How can I make Emacs start-up faster?

    I use Emacs v. 22 (the console version, either remotely with PuTTY or locally with Konsole) as my primary text editor on Linux. It takes a while to load up each time I start it though, probably almost a second, although I never timed it. I tend to open and close Emacs a lot, because I'm more comfortable using the Bash command-line for file/directory manipulation and compiling. How can I speed up the start-up time?

As of now I am pulling in the 20K products, looping through them and modifying some properties and then updating the database. so: load products foreach products session begintransaction productDao.MakePersistant(p); session commit(); As of now things are pretty slow compared to your standard jdbc, what can I do to speed things up?     I've looked around a bit for a great JavaScript Sprite Sheet animator lib/engine but couldn't find any good ones so I thought I'd ask around =). What I'm looking for in the engine is: Animate an image in a non-canvas setting (ex: div via css or img tags) Control frame rate/animation speed Flags to loop or to animate once etc. Are there any engines like this out there? If not I can always make my own but then again, I don't want to re-invent the wheel =].

  • C#: Perform Operations on GPU, not CPU (Calculate Pi)

    Hello, I've recently read a lot about software (mostly scientific/math and encryption related) that moves part of their calculation onto the GPU which causes a 100-1000 (!) fold increase in speed for supported operations. Is there a library, API or other way to run something on the GPU via C#? I'm thinking of simple Pi calculation. I have a GeForce 8800 GTX if that's relevant at all (would prefer card independent solution though). Any hints are appreciated!

  • Releasing an NSTimer iPhone?

    I have an NSTimer declared in my .h and in the viewDidLoad of the /m I have the code: timer = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:kComplexTimer target:self selector:@selector (main) userInfo:nil repeats:YES]; I also have [timer release]; in my dealloc. However when I exit the view and return to it, the timer has not in fact released, it has doubles in speed! How do I solve this & what am I doing wrong??? Thanks

I've try my effort to change it and test on it,and find out when I set the var compSpec = document.compChooser as a local variable inside the function instead of a global variable,the next statement could be executed. But I thought for a global variable,it is accessible in everywhere on the page and also inside a function.But why now I can't accesses it inside my function??Any idea?? Besides,I stumble upon a weird article while googling,it says that when a global variable is created,it is added to window object.I just curious why this happen??And what's the benefits and uses of it??   • Most efficient way to draw circles for polygon outlines

    I'm using OpenGL and was told I should draw circles at each vertex of my outline to get smoothness. I tried this and it works great. The problem is speed. It crippled my application to draw a circle at each vertex. I'm not sure how else to fix the anomaly of my outlines other than circles, but using display lists and trying with vertex array both were brutally slow. Thanks
