• What development technologies or technology stack is typically used in the security industry?

• Android - incremental status bar notification icon

  You know what I'm talking about: for example when you get multiple new emails the notification icon in the status bar is augmented with a little red circle that contains number of unread mails. Twitroid has the same icon. Any idea how it's done? I don't think (or so I hope) there are 10000 similar icons. Is this red circle generated and overlaid the notification icon? If so - any code snippets will be much appreciated.

• Android::Webview removes scrollbar for a DIV

  I made a small webpage with a scrollable div. When I load it in a browser, it works fine. But when I load it in a webview inside Android, it doesn't let me scroll the div. Is there a workaround for this or do I have to use a different design? I am talking about websites like this.

  Hello everyone. In a Latex Report I am making I have to write a regex. There is only one in the whole report, so I don't really want to use packages and so on. This is the regex I am talking about: ^\"((\w|\s)+)\"$ I came up with this for Latex: \grave{ }\backslash\"'((\backslash w\| \backslash s)+)\backslash \"' \backslash \$ This gives me like 10 errors, and I can't really see what is wrong. • Can't remember the website for downloading common tools after reinstall

  I remember a while back finding a website for downloading lots of common tools in one go after a system reinstall. It had a dark background and checkboxes for selecting the tools (browsers, editors, readers, im clients, etc.). After selecting the tools it downloaded a file which went away, downloaded everything you'd selected and then performed an install on each of the different apps. Does anyone have any idea what I'm talking about?

Now, all I can find is some mysql workbench which is only useful for designing data... Both programs I'm talking about allowed you to manage servers, create database, create tables, index, perform querys, edit data, etc... unfortunately I don't even recall there names...   I was wondering what language to use when talking about a function that takes in a specific object, acts on it and returns something else. Clearly they're functions, but I was wondering if there's a more specific term. A couple examples of Python built-in functions that fit this spec are: 'len', 'dir', 'vars' I thought it was 'predicate', but apparently that's specific to functions that return a boolean value.

• Deploy with rsync(or svn, git, cvs) and ignore inconsistent state during deployment?

  We are currently talking about deploying a website via rsync. However, during rsyncing the application is left in an inconsistent state, as some files may already be synced while others still are left with the old version right? How do people deal with this issue? I guess the same problem exists when deploying via svn/git/cvs. Should I just close the site, rsync, and open up again? Or do people simply ignore this inconsistency problem?

  I'm writing a Perl script that reads data from the infamous /dev/input/event* and I didn't find a way to translate the key codes generated by the kernel into ASCII. I'm talking about the linux key codes in this table here and I can't seem to find something that would help me translate them without hardcoding an array into the script. Am I missing something? I'd like to skip the array part because it doesn't seem to be a good practice, so any idea? :)

  I am talking about synchronous on the client side. That means, the service requester is blocking after sending a message to the service. my question is: is it related to the -a -s parameter of wsdl2java tool, Since -a generate async style code and -s generate sync style code. Or the client side blocking or not is totally controlled by the client logic? Thanks
