  • mint.com javascript dropdown effect

    I need to recreate an effect that mint.com has on another website. When you go to the transactions page and click on one of your transactions a tab pops up underneath that says edit details. When you click on that tab a div will drop down exposing more details about the transaction. I don't even know what this kind of effect this is called but I need to know to recreate something like this preferably with jquery. There are some screenshots of what I'm talking about below.

  • Erlang: What are the pros and cons of different methods for avoiding intermediate variables?

    At one point while traveling the web, I came across a great page which contrasted the clarity and terseness of different methods of doing a sequence of operations without having to make a bunch of throwaway variables, e.g., Var1, Var2, Var3. It tried list comprehensions, folds, maps, etc. For some reason, now matter what I google, I can't find it again. Anyone have any idea what I'm talking about? Or want to explore the topic anyway?

Let the code do the talking: public class Test { public static void main(String[] args) { SimpleDateFormat frmt = new SimpleDateFormat(); frmt.applyPattern("yyyy-MM-dd"); GregorianCalendar date = new GregorianCalendar(2012,1,1); System.out.println(frmt.format(date.getTime())); } } The output is: 2012-02-01 The expected output is of course: 2012-01-01 What am I doing wrong?

I am talking about from the perspective of using the AppDomain's instance method .Load(), that takes an AssemblyName object as a parameter. I know what MSDN has to say about what the .Load() method was designed for but that aside, I still want to know how to use it !!!

  • Microphone question in iPhone SDK

    I am trying to do an app, to where when it launches, it will detect audio, and then play it back automatically. NO BUTTONS, NOthing to press. Just a picture of something then, it listens for audio, then plays it back. Similar to the Talking Carl app in the App Store. Any ideas/help? Would appreciate it, if i could use the code with IB.

  • have a width larger than 960px with 960?

    if i use the custom css generator on their webpage i can have a wider width than 960? so isnt the name 960 kind of misleading? and some persons say that you cant have a flexible grid system (that changes with your browser size) with 960. but you can download a fluid version from the custom css generator. so apparently they didnt know what they were talking about? would be great if someone could straight these things out.

My client deals with government contracting so their website needs to be compatible with IE 8 and IE 7. I am using Modernizr with html5shiv built in. I am loading Modernizr in the footer of a WordPress theme that was custom built for this project. I'm not missing a doctype or any other obvious code.     I was looking at the ImageConverter class, trying to figure out how to convert a BufferedImage to 8-bit color, but I have no idea how I would do this. I was also searching around the internet and I could find no simple answer, they were all talking about 8 bit grayscale images. I simply want to convert the colors of an image to 8 bit... nothing else, no resizing no nothing. Does anyone mind telling me how to do this.
