• Events doesn't fire when using UpdatePanel

  Hi, What I did is, I have made 2 user controls. One control is inside the other. NoW one control has a buttton and a data grid and datalist in it. When pressing button I am filling datagrid while datalist visiblity false. This is working fine. But now when I press some link button in datalist data, it should call item_command event but it is not calling. I have also used a Updatepanel as a wrapper(all controls are inside it). Please suggest what may be the reason for that. Thanks

  I need to write a gui in Tkinter that can choose a csv file, read it in and generate a sequence of buttons based on the names in the first row of the csv file (later the data in the csv file should be used to run a number of simulations).   I'm trying to add image tags to a WPF image and I'm not having much luck. I'd like to do it through databinding if at all possible. Can I set a resource with a DataTemplate to take care of this?   Hi guys, What would be considered the best practice in duplicating [cloning] a LINQ to SQL entity resulting in a new record in the database? The context is that I wish to make a duplicate function for records in a grid of an admin. website and after trying a few things and the obvious, read data, alter ID=0, change name, submitChanges(), and hitting an exception, lol. I thought I might stop and ask an expert. I wish to start with first reading the record, altering the name by prefixing with "Copy Of " and then saving as a new record.

• Using VirtualMode on a DataGridView when the number of rows/columns isn't known

  I need to display an unknown length sequence of dictionaries with unknown keys efficiently in a data grid. This sequence is the result of a potentially slow LINQ query that could contain any number of results. At first I thought that VirtualMode on DataGridView was what I was looking for but it appears that the number of rows and columns must be known upfront. I tried adding a single row and column then adding more as needed from the CellValueNeeded event but this doesn't work. Is this even possible with VirtualMode? Or do I need to estimate how many rows are visible on the screen and manually build up the rows/columns? And if so, how do I ensure that a vertical scrollbar is present and react appropriately when a user uses it?

• How can I handle multiple views of a data object? Which design pattern is acceptable?

  I have a person object. class Person { private $name; ... } I need to be able to change how they are displayed on the front-end ( visitors have control ). They can choose list view, grid view, photo view for example. class PersonDisplay { public function displayList() { // Query database // Output html to display in list mode } public function displayPhoto() { // Query database // Output html to display in photo mode } } Is this an acceptable way to handle the presentation of the items on the front-end or is there a specific design pattern I should be researching to help me with this task? Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas where this could go wrong or if this could potentially make maintenance a nightmare? The Person object was just an example very similiar to what I am using.

  I am in the process of porting a simple CSS grid system to GWT. My CSS file currently has classes like .size1, .size2 etc., and I have a CSS resource that looks like - class MyResource extends CSSResource { @ClassName("size1") String size1(); @ClassName("size2") String size2(); // And so on } However what I really want, is to have a single function like the following - String size(int size); which will generate the appropriate class when passed the size as an integer at runtime. This is needed as I perform some calculations to determine the actual space available/needed for a widget in javascript and then attach the appropriate class name. Is this something that is even possible with GWT?

• Fadeout a tiled background image in load using JQuery

  Hi, I've used JQuery in the past to fade divs in and out successfully. However, I have encountered a situation I can't quite wrap my head around: I am coding a site for a designer who has based the formatting of all the elements on a grid pattern he's created. As he wants the pattern elements to be the same size independent of the browser window, I think I can only do this via a repeating background tiled image in CSS. Now he wants the background pattern (only) to come in dark and fade to very light, while not effecting any of the other elements. Am I right in thinking it's impossible to call a tiled background pattern using a CSS selector? Does anyone have any suggestions of a workaround to this problem?

  Hi, I have an issue trying to implement cascading comboboxes on Silverlight 3. I have two comboboxes: Product Type Sub Cathegory The user need to select the Product type, and based on his selection, the second combobox must load the sub cathegories. Binding the first combobox is a piece of cake: <ComboBox x:Name="cmbProductType" Margin="11,2,8,5" MaxDropDownHeight="100" Grid.Column="1 /> cmbProductType.ItemsSource = objFactory.ProductTypes; objFactory.Load(objFactory.GetProductTypesQuery()); My issue is trying to load the second combobox based on the first seleccion. • Rewriting a simple Pygame 2D drawing function in C++

  I have a 2D list of vectors (say 20x20 / 400 points) and I am drawing these points on a screen like so: for row in grid: for point in row: pygame.draw.circle(window, white, (particle.x, particle.y), 2, 0) pygame.display.flip() #redraw the screen This works perfectly, however it's much slower then I expected. I want to rewrite this in C++ and hopefully learn some stuff (I am doing a unit on C++ atm, so it'll help) on the way. What's the easiest way to approach this? I have looked at Direct X, and have so far followed a bunch of tutorials and have drawn some rudimentary triangles. However I can't find a simple (draw point).

  Hi, I am using data grid view to display items as excel spread sheet in VB.NET. I got a table named CostTypes with column names [CostTypeID, CostType] and values [1,External] and [2,Internal] (These are constant but more values can be added to table). I want to create columns with names of the values[External , Internal] in DataGridView. If I use databiding directly I get columns [CostTypeID,CostType] which is not what I am looking for. If some one could explain how to create columns at runtime in datagridview or how to retrieve data from data base using LINQ so that [External , Internal] turn out to be columns that would be great. • Switching layouts page jumping (improvement to script)

  Hello, I'm using this script to switch layouts in a page: $("span.switcher").click(function () { $("span.switcher").toggleClass("swap"); /*!*/ $("ol.search-results").fadeOut("fast", function() { $(this).fadeIn("fast").toggleClass("grid"); }); The script works fine, the problem I have is that if the switch view is down the page, the layout changes and then the page jumps back up. If I add 'return false' right where you see the /* ! */ in the second line the script doesn't work. Also, as you can see, I'm using < span instead of < a since I was told that using other element other than < a would stop the page from jumping. Any idea how to fix the jumping of the page? Thanks.

• Project Euler #163 understanding

  I spent quite a long time searching for a solution to this problem. I drew tons of cross-hatched triangles, counted the triangles in simple cases, and searched for some sort of pattern. Unfortunately, I hit the wall. I'm pretty sure my programming/math skills did not meet the prereq for this problem. So I found a solution online in order to gain access to the forums. I didn't understand most of the methods at all, and some just seemed too complicated. Can anyone give me an understanding of this problem? One of the methods, found here: http://www.math.uni-bielefeld.de/~sillke/SEQUENCES/grid-triangles (Problem C) allowed for a single function to be used. How did they come up with that solution? At this point, I'd really just like to understand some of the concepts behind this interesting problem. I know looking up the solution was not part of the Euler spirit, but I'm fairly sure I would not have solved this problem anyhow.

  Hi, I am new to MVC, and trying something and got stuck somewhere in between. I have a user control there I have three textbox html type(ID, Lastname, firstname) and a submit buttom. I set the button like <input type="button" value="Search" onclick="location.href='<%= Url.Action("action", "controller") %>'" /> I have called this usercontrol on some view through <%= Html.Partial("ucName") %> Now on pressing that button(on user control) I need to pass the data from these textboxes to controller again to some specific action(Http Post action). By using this data I want to do some database interaction and storing the result in a dataset and pass this data set to same view again to show up in some Grid. I know the first part in conventional Asp.net can be done by raising the event through delegate but don't know how to do that in MVC.

• qTip with jQuery dialogs

  I'm using qTip to show validation errors in a grid. The tooltip appears after a failed row save and doesn't disappear until the row is resaved or the changes are canceled. The problem with this is that opening a dialog while the tooltip is visible causes the tooltip to be rendered on top of the dialog. That is because the z-index is hard-coded to 6000+ for all tooltips, while jQuery dialogs are set to 1000+. I could fix this problem by changing the hard-coded value in qTip to <1000, but then tooltips fired from the dialog will appear behind the dialog. Is there anything I can do, aside from changing the qTip code or using a different tooltip library?

• Pass Alot of Parameters on a Form to Action Struts2

  I have been working on migrating a web application from Struts1 to Struts2. I have a simple Form with around 45 Fields (basically a grid with data). I have to capture all those in Struts2 Action.I noticed that in struts2 we have OGNL through which we just write getters setters in action itself by declaring fields locally to get those variables flowing in the request. I cannot write 45 getters/setters in my action, there must be a way to pass whole object(a POJO) from jsp to Action layer. In Struts 1, we normally get a ActionForm Object and/or get request parameters in a map and then populate. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

• Slickgrid, confirm before edit

  I am making a slick grid and need the ability to add rows with a code column. For this to be possible the code column needs to be editable for the entire table. I am trying to work out a way that I can confirm the edit with a standard javascript confirm popup box. I tried putting one into the onedit event within the slickgrid constructor and that executed after the edit. I am led to believe that the edit function is independent from calling the edit stored procedure of the database. Is there a better way to go about this?
