• IIS URL Rewriting for all Inbound URLs?

  Hopefully a simple question although one I have found impossible to answer myself using the Googles! I have a website on IIS with the URL http://www.contoso.com/ which points to C:\www\public\ There has been a forced directory restructure so now all of the data (Default.aspx, Product.aspx, etc.) that originally resided in C:\www\public\ now resides in C:\www\public\en\ie\ - however, the IIS website document root is still C:\www\public\ So, essentially, I have a lot of inbound links to http://www.contoso.com/Product.aspx?id=1 (etc.) which are now returning 404 errors - the correct link is now http://www.contoso.com/en/ie/Product.aspx?id=1 Please consider that I can make no changes to the directory structure or the IIS document root... so must solve this issue using URL rewriting. Is it possible to capture all requests to contoso.com/* and rewrite them to contoso.com/en/ie/* ??

• Using Dynamics AX's Business Conectors to Generate Sales Orders

  So, just like the title says, I need to create an application that gets data from another Database, and shoves it through Dynamics AX's throat. This data comes from a portal, not Enterprise Portal, but a PHP one. It stores some data from the order in a separate database. So as said, I need to 'import' that to AX, creating the sales orders with the data I have from the other database. Also I'd like some references on Business Conector too, does it handle all those RECIDS and references that AX uses for me? Thanks in advance. EDIT: OK, I'm able to insert records in AX's database, theres just one problem. I can't generate the internal ID. Like, the 'AccountNum' field for the CustTable. Is there a way to capture it from business connector?

• J2me Blackberry Numeric Input

  Hello, I am developing a blackberry application using j2me and LWUIT (blackberry port). Everything works great except for the TextField in numeric mode. Basically when you have focus on the TextField you have to first go into "NUMERIC" mode (by pressing alt + aA) in order to input, which is not user friendly and a problem. The proposed solution is to use a TextArea instead that allows you to open a NATIVE type input box. The problem there is that the user needs to focus the field and then press the fire button which again is unfriendly. Does anyone know of any simple solutions? The few solutions i have in mind (but not sure how to do them): 1) Capture any keypress on the TextArea and go into NATIVE mode, instead of just the fire key. 2) Put the blackberry input mode into numeric using code for the whole form. What regex pattern should I use to get this value?

• SQL 2008 Database tuning advisor won't start

  For some reason I can't get DTA to connect to my development machine. It connects to a remote DB just fine but when I point it to my dev machine I get an error saying: Failed to initialize MSDB database for tuning (exit code: -1073741819). I'm pretty sure it's not a permissions issue since I've used profiler to capture what it's doing and all of the commands it's run so far look fine and are being run under my account which is associated with the sysadmin role, when I run them in sql management studio they go through fine. I'm pretty convinced that the problem is related to creating the objects in MSDB that are used by DTA but I tried creating these manually (I found scripts on the web) and it just seems to push the problem along the line slightly. I'm going out of my mind - have even tried reinstalling SQL but that's not fixed it. I'm using SQL 2008 with SP1 (10.0.2531) on windows server 2008 (patched up to date). SAVE ME!!!!!

  I'd like to capture signatures of application users with a mini-tablet/little pos signature device. I welcome any first hand experiences of which ones were good and which ones to stay away from. Off the top of my head I can think of a few features I'd like to see: USB interface Not too expensive (I don't know 100-200 dollars?) Be easy to integrate with a managed .NET application Also I realize most people, myself included, think of digitally signing assemblies with code instead of a mini-tablet device, if there is a more accurate phrase for this pleas let me know. • Server Side of UpdatePanel don't understand PartialPostback

  This erros seems to happen randomly and in the whole system. Sometimes when we click in a button, or even try to login, a alert comes up with the "Message cannot be parsed" error. Funny thing is that when I turn on fiddler, the thing stars to function ok. Sniffing the connection via smsniff i was able to capture the traffic of the bugged and working postbacks. The contents were suposed to be rendered in a update panel. It appears that the "bugged" response is the whole page again, what would cause such a thing? • How to remove package from apt-get autoremove "queue"

  I just installed Calibre for ebook management via apt-get on Ubuntu 10.04, however I found out that it's one major version behind the current release, so I decided to reinstall it directly from sources. When I uninstalled the packaged version, apt added bunch of dependencies to the autoremove queue, and as I installed newer version of Calibre from sources, it has no knowledge of it being dependent on those packages. Now I basically have all libraries that I want, but they are still in the autoremove queue. The following packages were automatically installed and are no longer required: libqt4-script libqt4-designer libqt4-dbus python-lxml python-cherrypy3 python-encutils libqt4-xmlpatterns libqt4-help python-qt4 python-clientform python-sip python-django python-mechanize libqt4-svg python-django-tagging libphonon4 libqt4-xml libqt4-assistant libqt4-webkit libqt4-scripttools python-beautifulsoup python-pypdf python-dateutil python-cssutils Use 'apt-get autoremove' to remove them. How do I tell apt that I want to keep these packages installed, without reinstalling them manually?

  I have a plain text file something like this: Ford\tTaurus F-150 F-250 Toyota\tCamry Corsica In other words, a two-level hierarchy where the first child is on the same line as the parent, but subsequent children on lines following, distinguished from being a parent by a two-space prefix (\t above represents a literal tab in the text). I need to convert to this using RegEx: Ford\tTaurus Ford\tF-150 Ford\tF-250 Toyota\tCamry Toyota\tCorsica So, I need to capture the parent (text between \r\n and \t not starting with \s\s), and apply that in the middle of any \r\n\s\s found until the next parent. I have a feeling this can be done with some sort of nested groups, but I think I need more caffeine or something, can't seem to work out the pattern. (Using .NET with IgnoreWhitespace off and Multiline off)

None of these work, what I am doing wrong? window.onscroll=myFunction; document.onscroll=myFunction; window.attachEvent("scroll",myFunction,false); document.attachEvent("scroll",myFunction,false); They all work even on Safari 3 on Windows. Ironically, EVERY browser on the PC supports window.onload= if you don't mind clobbering existing events. But no go on iPad.

• Development Server Blocked Only from Home

  Recently I've been having an issue with my CentOS 6 test server running Apache and Webmin running on port 10000 where when I try accessing any part of the server - SSH/FTP and even my domains (I have two - both keep getting timeout errors) when I try accessing from any computer on my home network. However when I access via tethering or via my office networks everything loads fine. While the firewall is the first issue at mind, my router never was set to block any special ports, and even after adding port 10000 as a specific exception I'm having no luck. Also, I doubt this is an IP blacklisting issue because I have websites on other servers using CloudFlare for security and I haven't gotten any warnings. Any assistance is greatly apprecaiated. UPDATE: Just some extra details about the issue: My ISP to my knowledge only blocks off ports 25 and 80 for residential users to prevent them from running web servers - however this issue has only come up a day or two ago, before that I was using the server successfully for months. Also the server is not physically located in any of my workspaces - it's a VPS housed in a datacenter

  Hi all, I am trying to make my web app compatible with international languages and I am stuck with trying to convert escaped characters in my Delphi .NET DLL. The front end code is passing the UTF-8 hex notation with an escape character e.g for ? I pass \uE3818A. In my DLL I capture this and constract the following string '$E3828A'. I need to convert this back to ? and send it to my database, I've been trying to use Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes and Encoding.UTF8.GetString but with no luck. Anyone could help me figure this out? • 100% width bg images not extending on horizontal scroll

  I'm noticing this issue. I made a quick screen capture to demonstrate: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/904456/2010-06-14_2323.swf Basically when you have a min-width set and the viewport goes under that constraint, a horizontal scroll bar appears. Pretty much what you would expect, but when you scroll over horizontally all elements that are suppose to extend across the entire width of the page and have background images/colors different from the body do not extend. If you resize the viewport it seems to catch up. Is this a known issue? You can see it on a lot of sites, http://gowalla.com for example. Any ideas?

  Hi I've written a basic SL4 application to capture audio data from the microphone using CaptureSource. The trouble is, it's raw PCM output - which means huge and uncompressed. Given that I need this application to run purely within a SL4 environment, how can I compress the PCM audio data into something that can be delivered to a remote server more easily? In conversation, people have suggested Speex and WMA for instance, but I haven't found any libraries or examples that work without requiring reference to DLL's that won't work in a SL4 project.   We're running a WSUS server for the simple purpose of caching updates. Since we are a very small network of all "power users", we've got the domain group policy for WSUS updates on the clients set to prompt for download/install. i.e. We don't want updates to install without our knowledge. But there are a few cases where it would be nice to be able to set a certain update to auto-install. e.g. Windows Defender updates, Malicious Software Removal Tool, Outlook Junk Email Filter, etc. Basically all the silly little updates that you would always install anyway and don't require a restart. Is there a way to set the general policy to prompt for download/install, but auto-install certain regular updates? P.S. WSUS itself does have the facility to auto-approve certain updates.   I'm not sure if it's kosher to ask.. but where can one purchase good quality / well priced backup tapes within Canada, online? I'm asking because my current vendor, DataWrite, has sent me bad tapes for the 3rd time in a row. I have no idea where they get their product but when I put an order in for 20 tapes and 2 cleaning tapes and I have to call them up 4 times over the next 2 weeks, I expect those tapes to work. Well, like I said, this is the 3rd batch that I'm sending back and we've been dealing with them exclusively for well over 5 years so I thought I'd ask the pool of knowledge.   So, I am trying to install Arch Linux on my Acer Aspire 4830tg, but I keep running into problems. Some background knowledge, I am trying to install Arch off a usb stick and I got the iso image using bittorrent. I am also trying to install it alongside of Windows 8 (which is already installed). So when I boot into Arch linux I get this error: :: Mounting '/dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201212' to 'run/archiso/bootmnt' Waiting 30 seconds for device /dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201212 ... ERROR: '/dev/disk/by-label/ARCH_201212' device did not show up after 30 seconds... Falling back to interactive prompt You can try to fix the problem manually, log out when you are finished sh: can't access tty; job control turned off I know that it will work if I run it on a virtual machine but whenever I try to install it on my laptop I keep getting this error. And since you can't register for the Arch forums without a Arch terminal to run their captcha command I can't ask this on their forums.

The client has two "web developers" who are more comfortable with Lotus Domino than more mainstream tools and technologies and are not enthusiastic about making a switch. I have been asked to provide an assessment of why it may be prudent to migrate to a different web application platform. I would be particularly interested in understanding deficiencies related to the platform as I have very little knowledge of Domino but am very familiar with other platforms. In addition to the fact that Apache has over 70% of web server market, IIS over 21%, and Lotus almost 0%, what other reasons would you give for moving away from this platform?
