  • How to import properties of an external API into Script#

    I'm using Script# inside Visual Studio 2010 to import the API for the HTML5 Canvas element. Its working great for things like FillRect(), MoveTo(), LineTo() and so on. I've declared the following interface and then I can code against it in C#. Then, Script# converts it to JavaScript nicely. public interface CanvasContext { void FillRect(int x, int y, int width, int height); void BeginPath(); void MoveTo(int x, int y); void LineTo(int x, int y); void Stroke(); void FillText(string text, int x, int y); } I want to include the StrokeStyle property that takes a simple string. The following interface definition produces a prefix in the JavaScript, which causes it to fail. string StrokeStyle { get; set; } string Font { get; set; } The previous property will create this JavaScript: ctx.set_strokeStyle('#FF0'); How can I get Script# to generate the simple assignment properties of the canvas context without the get_/set_ prefix?

    I'm trying to parse some XML I've gotten from the Google Data Booksearch API and I'm having trouble trying to target a specific element. We are exploring what would be required to build a system that can handle 50 database million queries a day - specifiically from the programming language and database choice Its not a typical website, but an API / database accessing through the internet. Speed is critical. The application will primarily receive these inputs (about a few kb each) and will have to address each of them via the database lookup. Only a few kb will be returned. The server will be run over https/ssl.

  • Good experiences with bulk rate SMS providers?

    We're a pretty popular service, our users are currently sending 100000+ SMS messages (projected 180k this month, and continuing to grow) per month. We're currently using a primary domestic provider that doesn't provide bulk rates and doesn't provide short code access. We're using a few backup providers as well for max redundancy, but aren't thrilled by 'em. We're ideally looking for a service that provides good bulk rates/incentives, good uptime/redundancy/reputation, easy API-integration (including respectable error codes!) ;). Right now, we're looking primarily for a domestic US SMS solution, but aren't averse to using the same provider for both International & US. For those of you using bulk SMS right now - what are your recommendations, experiences, etc. in the bulk SMS domain? It sounds like I'm looking for a golden unicorn here, I know, but any data/recommendations/warnings you've got are helpful!

  • Unicenter Software Delivery 4 not able to connect to MS SQL 2000 Database after W2003 SP2 upgrade

    Hello Everyone Yesterday I installed the Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2 on a Windows Server 2003 which has Unicenter Software Delivery 4 installed. Prior to the installation I disabled every CA service on the server (Brightstor, SDO , RCO, TNG) and the MS SQL 2000 service. After the installation of the SP2 I enabled the services again but the Unicenter Service is not able to connect to the MS SQL 2000 Database anymore. The database itself is up and running and I can connect to it with the Enterprise Manager. A dbcc checkdb doesnt return any errors on the Unicenter database.   • How can I find the program making a harmonica sound?

    A friend has a Windows XP SP3 machine that plays a harmonica sound for about 5 seconds throughout the day at what seems to be random intervals (every couple hours). My question is how can I find the program making this sound? Is there a Windows API hook for monitoring audio access? I've gone through and checked all the standard Windows sounds in the Control Panel and right now the theme is set to no sounds and I personally checked to make sure none of the events have a sound specified. I also checked the Task Scheduler to make sure there wasn't something scheduled to go off every couple hours. Any ideas on how to go about finding the bugger?

    I am using same network for 2 days and everything was normal. However, today even though it shows me as connected to the network, I do not have internet connection. If I use ethernet cable instead of wireless, I am still able to connect to the internet. Also my friends are able to connect to the wireless network and they can get internet connection.   • Why the Enter key in a Mac keyboard is mapped to Level?

    Just installing Ubuntu for the first time, glad to ditch Win 7. I have a KVM switch and also a Mac, hence I'm using a Mac keyboard (the full size alu one) Everything's pretty cool. First thing I wondered is why the numeric keypad doesn't work? Oh, I have to find the num lock key (which should default to on, sensibly, no?) which isn't labelled as such on a Mac keyboard. Ok no problem. Then for some reason the Enter key on the keypad doesn't work still. Check the keyboard layout (set to 'English UK Macintosh')... inspecting the layout the Enter key is mapped to something called 'Level' - WTF is 'Level'? Everything else about the keyboard works great ie the £ $ # @ " are all perfect, volume control works as expected... why this weird key mapping on the Enter key? More importantly... how do I change it to work as an Enter key ?

However I am usually asked questions such as: - all two-letters commands you know in unix - representation of float/double numbers (ieee standard) - segmentation fault memory dump, and related issues - all functions you know to convert string to integer (not just atoi) - how to avoid virtual tables - etc.. Is that the custom? Because I don't think this kind of questions make sense for someone willing to get an entry-level job. Is it totally crazy to think that they should ask more conceptual questions? Given these tables with data, I need to come up with a recursive function that generates an XML file to represent the relationship and the data.     Commenting in code I believe is very important but recently I've been reviewing code that has left me wondering particular this one. //due to lack of confidence with web programming leaving this note in for now What is the right level of granularity for code commenting? EDIT: Obviously the above comment is shocking hence why I'm asking the question. I've recently noticed the inline comments in the code at my work place annoying. Instead of getting angry I want discovery the acceptable level of granularity for code commenting in the community.

  • How do I randomly generate a top-down 2D level with separate sections and is infinite?

    I've read many other questions/answers about random level generation but most of them deal with either randomly/proceduraly generating 2D levels viewed from the side or 3D levels. What I'm trying to achieve is sort of like you were looking straight down on a Minecraft map. There is no height, but the borders of each "biome" or "section" of the map are random and varied. I already have basic code that can generate a perfectly square level with the same tileset (randomly picking segments from the tileset image), but I've encountered a major issue for wanting the level to be infinite: Beyond a certain point, the tiles' positions become negative on one or both of the axis. The code I use to only draw tiles the player can see relies on taking the tiles position and converting it to the index number that represents it in the array. As you well know, arrays cannot have a negative index. Here is some of my code: This generates the square (or rectangle) of tiles: //Scale is in tiles public void Generate(int sX, int sY) { scaleX = sX; scaleY = sY; for (int y = 0; y <= scaleY; y++) { tiles.Add(new List<Tile>()); for (int x = 0; x <= scaleX; x++) { tiles[tiles.Count - 1].Add(tileset.randomTile(x * tileset.TileSize, y * tileset.TileSize)); } } } Before I changed the code after realizing an array index couldn't be negative my for loops looked something like this to center the map around (0, 0): for (int y = -scaleY / 2; y <= scaleY / 2; y++) for (int x = -scaleX / 2; x <= scaleX / 2; x++) Here is the code that draws the tiles: int startX = (int)Math.Floor((player.Position.X - (graphics.Viewport.Width) - tileset.TileSize) / tileset.TileSize); int endX = (int)Math.Ceiling((player.Position.X + (graphics.Viewport.Width) + tileset.TileSize) / tileset.TileSize); int startY = (int)Math.Floor((player.Position.Y - (graphics.Viewport.Height) - tileset.TileSize) / tileset.TileSize); int endY = (int)Math.Ceiling((player.Position.Y + (graphics.Viewport.Height) + tileset.TileSize) / tileset.TileSize); for (int y = startY; y < endY; y++) { for (int x = startX; x < endX; x++) { if (x >= 0 && y >= 0 && x <= scaleX && y <= scaleY) tiles[y][x].Draw(spriteBatch); } } So to summarize what I'm asking: First, how do I randomly generate a top-down 2D map with different sections (not chunks per se, but areas with different tile sets) and second, how do I get past this negative array index issue?

    If you get "Receive Anonymous Level Security token" message in IE8 when trying to access Shared Services or Workspace URL.Workaround:a. Go to Start > Run and enter dcomcnfgb. Expand Component Services, Expand Computers and right click on My Computer and select Propertiesc. Click on the Default Properties tab.  Change the Default Authentication Level to Connect.  Click apply and then OK.d. Launch the IE browser again and you will be able to access the URL.

    I've got a separate pair of speakers and I'm looking at adding a subwoofer (this, specifically). I noticed on the detail page it's inputs are listed as such: Inputs: Speaker level, line level If I'm not mistaken "line level" are the standard 3.5 audio jacks on your motherboard/sound card, right? My motherboard has the standard 6 ports for sound, if I get a subwoofer like this can I simply plug the input into the orange 3.5 jack? My audio software supports up to 7.1 so software-wise, 2.1 wouldn't be a problem.

  • Are these interview questions too difficult for entry-level C++ positions?

    I recently had a few interviews for programming jobs within the financial industry. I am looking for entry-level positions as I specify in the cover letter. However I am usually asked questions such as: - all two-letters commands you know in unix - representation of float/double numbers (ieee standard) - segmentation fault memory dump, and related issues - all functions you know to convert string to integer (not just atoi) - how to avoid virtual tables - etc.. Is that the custom? Because I don't think this kind of questions make sense for someone willing to get an entry-level job. Is it totally crazy to think that they should ask more conceptual questions? This is beginning to driving me nuts, honestly. Thanks
