  • If statement with code on same block in haml, RoR

    - by Micke
Hello, i have this Haml view: !!! strict %html{:xmlns => "http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"} %head %meta{:content => "text/html; charset=utf-8", "http-equiv" => "Content-Type"} %title Lighty | #{@page_title || "Home"} %body #popup Login here #fade #wrapper #container #header %a#logo{:href => "/"} #menu %ul#main %li#lighty %a{:href => "/"} Lighty %ul %li %a Link here %li#community %a{:href => "/community"} Community #content And i would like to add an if on line #16 to check if it is the currently visited page and add the class "active" to the li if it returns true. How do i write that if statement there and is there any easier way to do this? My plan now is to use a variable like @current_page and testif it @current_page == "community" and add a class if it returns right. Am i thinking wrong? any easier way to accomplish this? Thanks for your answer and sorry for my bad english.

Hey guys, I'm using http://ar.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActiveRecord/Validations/ClassMethods.html#M000086 to validate records. My form is currently a remote form, using RJS. My question, is how to I return the :message (for errors) to the page through ajax (and I assume the create.rjs file)? Best, Elliot

  • How do I mock an object in this case? no obvious way to replace object with mock

    - by Tristan
Hi there, Suppose I have this very simple method in Store's model: def geocode_address loc = Store.geocode(address) self.lat = loc.lat self.lng = loc.lng end If I want to write some test scripts that aren't affected by the geocoding service, which may be down, have limitations or depend on my internet connection, how do I mock out the geocoding service? If I could pass a geocoding object into the method, it would be easy, but I don't see how I could do it in this case. Thanks! Tristan

  • Dynamic fields with Thinking Sphinx

    - by Ola Karlsson
Hi! I'm building an application where I have products and categories. Category has_many properties and each property has a list of possible values. After a category is set to the product all properties show up in the form and the user can set that property to one of the properties possible values. My question is: Is it possible for Thinking Sphinx to filter the products through a property and property value ex: :with => {:property_id => property_value} If it's possible, what is the best way to implement this? If not is there any other library out there to solve this problem? Thanks / Ola

  • Chef-solo cannot locate an nginx recipe template

    - by crftr
I have been recently experimenting with Chef. I thought I would attempt to rebuild my personal web server using chef-solo. It's an AWS instance running the Amazon 64bit Linux AMI. My first objective is to install nginx. I have cloned the Opscode cookbook repository, and am using their nginx cookbook. My problem appears to be that chef-solo cannot find a template after it has started the process. The command I'm using is chef-solo -j /etc/chef/dna.json dna.json { "nginx": { "user": "ec2-user" }, "recipes": [ "nginx" ] } solo.rb file_cache_path "/var/chef-solo" cookbook_path "/var/chef-solo/cookbooks" ...the output [root@ip-10-202-221-135 chef-solo]# chef-solo -j /etc/chef/dna.json /usr/lib64/ruby/gems/1.9.1/gems/systemu-2.2.0/lib/systemu.rb:29: Use RbConfig instead of obsolete and deprecated Config. • Confused as to which Prototype helper to use

    - by user284194
After reading http://api.rubyonrails.org/classes/ActionView/Helpers/PrototypeHelper.html I just can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I have a simplistic model that deletes the oldest message after the list of messages reaches 24, the model is this simple: class Message < ActiveRecord::Base after_create :destroy_old_messages protected def destroy_old_messages messages = Message.all(:order => 'updated_at DESC') messages[24..-1].each {|p| p.destroy } if messages.size >= 24 end end There is a message form below the list of messages which is used to add new messages. I'm using Prototype/RJS to add new messages to the top of the list. create.rjs: page.insert_html :top, :messages, :partial => @message page[@message].visual_effect :grow #page[dom_id(@messages)].replace :partial => @message page[:message_form].reset My index.html.erb is very simple: <div id="messages"> <%= render :partial => @messages %> </div> <%= render :partial => "message_form" %> When new messages are added they appear just fine, but when the 24 message limit has been reached it just keeps adding messages and doesn't remove the old ones. Ideally I'd like them to fade out as the new ones are added, but they can just disappear. The commented line in create.rjs actually works, it removes the expired message but I lose the visual effect when adding a new message. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to accomplish adding and removing messages from this simple list with effects for both? Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading. P.S.: would periodically_call_remote be helpful in this situation?

  • Can I check the validity of a single DataMapper property?

    - by Nathan Long
In a custom DataMapper setter, I'd like to check whether the value I'm setting is valid or not. For instance: class ToastMitten include DataMapper::Resource property :id, Serial property :wearer, Enum['Chuck Norris', 'Jon Skeet'] property :first_worn_at, DateTime def wearer=(name) super if wearer.valid? # How can I do this? first_worn_at = Time.now end end end t = ToastMitten.new t.wearer = 'Nathan Long' # invalid value; do NOT set first_worn_at t.wearer = 'Jon Skeet' # valid value; set first_worn_at Can I check the validity of a single property like this without calling valid? on the object itself and looking through all the errors?

  • Testing Paypal error messages using ActiveMerchant

    - by vrish88
Hello, Is there a way to test your application's processing and handling of Paypal generated credit card errors? I'd like to verify that my application can handle a declined credit card or something like that. So is there a way to have Paypal send an error message? Or would it be better to generate a stub and use it in the testing environment? If this is the better way, how would one generate a stub? Thanks!

  • FasterCSV Parsing issue?

    - by Schroedinger
G'day guys, I'm currently using fastercsv to construct ActiveRecord elements and I can't for the life of me see this bug (tired), but for some reason when it creates, if in the rake file i output the column I want to save as the element value, it puts out correctly, as either a Trade or a Quote but when I try to save it into the activerecord, it won't work. FasterCSV.foreach("input.csv", :headers => true) do |row| d = DateTime.parse(row[1]+" "+row[2]) offset = Rational(row[3].to_i,24) o = d.new_offset(offset) t = Trade.create( :name => row[0], :type => row[4], :time => o, :price => row[6].to_f, :volume => row[7].to_i, :bidprice => row[10].to_f, :bidsize => row[11].to_i, :askprice => row[14].to_f, :asksize => row[15].to_i ) end Ideas? Name and Type are both strings, every other value works except for type. Have I missed something really simple?

  • How to use a scope in combination with a Model method?

    - by Bjorn

My code: class Product < ActiveRecord::Base def price_with_discount price-discount.to_f end scope :by_price, lambda {|min, max|{ :conditions => { :price_with_discount => min.to_f..max.to_f }}} end This doesn't work: "No attribute named price_with_discount exists for table products". How can I trick my scope into using the method I defined instead of searching for a column named price_with_discount? Bjorn

  • "no block given" errors with cache_money

    - by emh
    i've inherited a site that in production is generating dozens of "no block given" exceptions every 5 minutes. the top of the stack trace is: vendor/gems/nkallen-cache-money-0.2.5/lib/cash/accessor.rb:42:in `add' vendor/gems/nkallen-cache-money-0.2.5/lib/cash/accessor.rb:33:in `get' vendor/gems/nkallen-cache-money-0.2.5/lib/cash/accessor.rb:22:in `call' vendor/gems/nkallen-cache-money-0.2.5/lib/cash/accessor.rb:22:in `fetch' vendor/gems/nkallen-cache-money-0.2.5/lib/cash/accessor.rb:31:in `get' so it appears that the problem is in the cache money plugin. has anyone experienced something similar? i've cut and pasted the relevant code below -- anyone more familiar with blocks able to discern any obvious problems? 11 def fetch(keys, options = {}, &block) 12 case keys 13 when Array 14 keys = keys.collect { |key| cache_key(key) } 15 hits = repository.get_multi(keys) 16 if (missed_keys = keys - hits.keys).any? 17 missed_values = block.call(missed_keys) 18 hits.merge!(missed_keys.zip(Array(missed_values)).to_hash) 19 end 20 hits 21 else 22 repository.get(cache_key(keys), options[:raw]) || (block ? block.call : nil) 23 end 24 end 25 26 def get(keys, options = {}, &block) 27 case keys 28 when Array 29 fetch(keys, options, &block) 30 else 31 fetch(keys, options) do 32 if block_given? 33 add(keys, result = yield(keys), options) 34 result 35 end 36 end 37 end 38 end 39 40 def add(key, value, options = {}) 41 if repository.add(cache_key(key), value, options[:ttl] || 0, options[:raw]) == "NOT_STORED\r\n" 42 yield 43 end 44 end

  • Get Mechanize to handle cookies from an arbitrary POST (to log into a website programmatically)

    - by Horace Loeb
I want to log into https://www.t-mobile.com/ programmatically. My first idea was to use Mechanize to submit the login form: However, it turns out that this isn't even a real form. Instead, when you click "Log in" some javascript grabs the values of the fields, creates a new form dynamically, and submits it. "Log in" button HTML: <button onclick="handleLogin(); return false;" class="btnBlue" id="myTMobile-login"><span>Log in</span></button> The handleLogin() function: function handleLogin() { if (ValidateMsisdnPassword()) { // client-side form validation logic var a = document.createElement("FORM"); a.name = "form1"; a.method = "POST"; a.action = mytmoUrl; // defined elsewhere as https://my.t-mobile.com/Login/LoginController.aspx var c = document.createElement("INPUT"); c.type = "HIDDEN"; c.value = document.getElementById("myTMobile-phone").value; // the value of the phone number input field c.name = "txtMSISDN"; a.appendChild(c); var b = document.createElement("INPUT"); b.type = "HIDDEN"; b.value = document.getElementById("myTMobile-password").value; // the value of the password input field b.name = "txtPassword"; a.appendChild(b); document.body.appendChild(a); a.submit(); return true } else { return false } } I could simulate this form submission by POSTing the form data to https://my.t-mobile.com/Login/LoginController.aspx with Net::HTTP#post_form, but I don't know how to get the resultant cookie into Mechanize so I can continue to scrape the UI available when I'm logged in. Any ideas?

  • Passing Parameters to Child Tasks from a Parent Task in Rake

    - by Haseeb Khan
I am new to the world of Rake and currently writing a Rake Script which consists of various tasks depending on the arguments passed to it on runtime. From some Tutorials over the web, I figured out how to pass parameters to the Script as well how to make a task which is dependent on other subtasks. For reference, I have mentioned a sample below: task :parent, [:parent_argument1, :parent_argument2, :parent_argument3] => [:child1, :child2] do # Perform Parent Task Functionalities end task :child1, [:child1_argument1, :child1_argument2] do |t, args| # Perform Child1 Task Functionalities end task :child2, [:child2_argument1, :child2_argument2] do |t, args| # Perform Child2 Task Functionalities end Following is what I want to achieve: I want to pass the arguments passed to the parent task to the child tasks. Is it allowed? Is there a way I can make the child tasks as private so they can't be called independently? Thanks in advance.

I've tried: Paperclip.options[:command_path] = "usr/bin" or Paperclip.options.merge!(:command_path => "/usr/bin") in environment.rb or config/initializers/paperclip.rb. Though it makes no rational sense, I also tried "usr/local/bin" since this is the default for most people. Any thoughts on getting around this? Thanks!
