    You know how in Firefox, if something happens that requires your attention but isn't immediately urgent enough to require a modal dialog, it will drop down a little strip at the top of the tab with a question on it? I'd like to be able to put functionality like that in a Delphi app, but I don't know if there's a component for that. Does anyone know of one?

    I have a funny little situation on my hands. I have a httpModule on my hands that I have to feed with context relative data. That means that on the page I have to set something that the HttpModule can then react on. If possible I would like to avoid having call context data in the session.     Hi, my problem is that my full tables and text are coming about 15 cm away from left side, so my text has very little space on right side, about 3 cm.     The linux kernel (and various other projects including git) have very nice makefiles that hide the giant cc calls into nice little acronyms. For example: gcc -O2 -o cool.o cool.c -llib gcc -O2 -o neat.o neat.c -llib would become: CC cool.c CC neat.c Which is really nice if you have a project with a large number of files and long compiler flags. I recall that this had to do with suppressing the default output and making a custom one. How do you do it?

  • iPhone platform: endianness (detection & swapping)

    Hi all, I'm doing some endian-sensitive file manipulation on iPhone. Are there standard macros or #defines in that environment that indicate native endianness and offer swapping if necessary? I know I can check in advance and just do the right thing for this particular architecture, but wondering if there are cleaner ways of doing the right thing. (The file format is little endian; if it were big-endian, I'd probably just use the htons/htonl family.) Thanks.

    Hello, I sometimes do this in my shell : sam@sam-laptop:~/shell$ ps aux | grep firefox | awk '{print $2}' 2681 2685 2689 4645 $ kill -9 2681 2685 2689 4645 Is there a way I can transform the multiple lines containing the PIDs into one line separated by spaces ? (It's a little bit annoying to type the PIDs every time and I really would like to learn :) ) Thanks a lot.

    I've got a database with collation Danish_Norwegian_CS_AS and lots of varchar columns. I'd like to convert all this data to unicode, but haven't found a way to convert this data yet. If I've understood correctly, the encoding used is UCS-2 little endian. For example I've got a column containing 'PÃ¥l-Trygve' which is easily converted with C# to 'Pål-Trygve' using Encoding.Default.GetString(Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes("PÃ¥l-Trygve")); Is there a way to do this conversion in the Microsoft SQL Server client?
