  • Looking for a component (.NET or COM/ActiveX) that can play AVI files in a WinForms app

    I'm looking for something like the Windows Media Player control that can be hosted on a form. The WMP doesn't work for me because I need a control that can play a continuously-appended playlist of AVI files in sequence, so that the transition from one file to the next happens seamlessly (i.e. without any glitches or pauses in the video and audio). With WMP, there's always a delay between files of half a second or so. Does anyone know of a control (it can be either commercial or open-source) that can do this? I assume anything like this wraps DirectX, and that's OK too.

    I can't figure this out. I need to extract the second level domain from a FQDN. For example, all of these need to return "example.com": example.com foo.example.com bar.foo.example.com example.com:8080 foo.example.com:8080 bar.foo.example.com:8080 Here's what I have so far: Dim host = Request.Headers("Host") Dim pattern As String = "(?<hostname>(\w+)).(?<domainname>(\w+.\w+))" Dim theMatch = Regex.Match(host, pattern) ViewData("Message") = "Domain is: " + theMatch.Groups("domainname").ToString It fails for example.com:8080 and bar.foo.example.com:8080.     Consider this situation: There's a critical VB6 desktop application running on a production box. There is a possibility of installing a .NET application that queries the same DB that the VB6 application queries, which is an SQL Server 2000 DB. The VB6 application also depends on third-party ActiveX controls (registered .ocx files). The concern is - will the .NET Framework installation replace any files or break the VB6 runtime in any way. In other words, can we safely assume that an installation of the .NET Framework is completely independent of any previous VB6 installations and will not interfere with the running application?

    Hi, I have a site on A.com and an iframe on B.com which reads info from A.com. I realize that there is some problems with third party cookies, iframes and P3P - particularly in Safari [my problem] Is it possible to instead, use AJAX or a hidden iFrame to pass the cookie information from A.com to B.com which will then "recreate" another cookie with the same information on the iframe in B.com. I am trying to do this for authenication - i.e. a user is logged in on A.com and then goes to b.com and the iframe is also logged in ? I was hoping to perhaps pass the data in a hidden iframe and "recreate" the cookie in the iframe on B.com using JavaScript?

I have 2 issues at once: First, my site is stored (both on local development and on live server), in a subdirectory.. as I'm working on multiple sites. i.e. /Sites/www.mysite.com/(site files here) When I'm referring to files in my web pages, I want to refer to, say, my /images directory without hard-coding every occurrence as /www.mysite.com/images/myfile.jpg Is there a way to simply redefine how the leading "/" gets interpreted by the server? Question two, concerning PHP mod_rewrite I have this set of rewrite rules. The objective is to turn www.mysite.com/faq into www.mysite.com/index.php?page="faq" RewriteEngine On RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !mysite.com RewriteRule (.*) mysite.com/$1 RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_-]+)$ /mysite.com/index.php?site=$1 RewriteRule ^([a-zA-Z0-9_-]+)/$ /mysite.com/index.php?site=$1 I don't have a problem when a url gets passed in the 2nd-to-last format (as the example above). However, if the trailing "/" is added: www.mysite.com/faq/, my external script references break: (such as src=js/script.js)...

    Hi folks, yep - another noob regex query, which I can't seem to get. I'm trying to get all matches for the string foo.mydomain.com/ or foo.mydomain.com:1234/ or foo.mydomain.com:<random port>/ but any other paths do not match, ie. foo.mydomain.com/bar or foo.mydomain.com/bar/pewpew I tried to use: foo.mydomain.com(.*)/$ ( starts with anything, then foo.mydomain.com, then any thing after that .. until a slash. then end. (this search query is anchored to the end of the line). but that doesn't work. It doesn't match when i pass in foo.mydomain.com:1234 but it correct says foo.mydomain.com/bar/pewpew is not a match (as expected). any ideas?

    I need to script some Windows Server 2008 R2 builds, preferably in PowerShell. I need to disable or uncheck IPV6 on a specific NIC (the same NIC every time). Currently, I have to set it manually. I do not want to disable IPV6 completely for the entire server other things may use that in the future. Is there an object I can reference in a PowerShell command specifying my NIC "Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Network Connection" and disable IPV6? Unfortunately, Group Policy is not an option says the boss. I've tried finding an appropriate WMI object via "PowerShell Scriptomatic" but failed to find the difference between an enabled setting versus disabled on the Intel NIC. Thanks in advance.

    I have the following rule on my local dev site and it works fine: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^localhost$ RewriteRule ^subdomains/example.com(.*) http://www.example.com$1 [R=301,L] However when I change it to: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com$ RewriteRule ^subdomains/example.com(.*) http://www.example.com$1 [R=301,L] and upload it to my live site it doesn't work, if i change the rule to: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.domain.com$ RewriteRule ^subdomains/(.*) http://www.example.com$1 [R=301,L] the rule functions as expected and directs an url beginning with www.domain.com/subdomains/ to www.example.com/. Does anyone know what is going on here? Thanks for you help.
