The web service is running on Glassfish and is soap 1.1, I've tried using all the packaged wcf bindings but have not been able to get them to work. I started down the path of using a MessageInspector, and wrote one but then realized there must be a better way, surely WCF provides some way to insert saml 2.0 assertions. I've made the most progress writing a custom binding - i've been able to get the timestamp and signature nodes in the soap header, but cannot for the life of me figure out the saml assertion. • PHP-FPM and APC for shared hosting?

  We are looking into finding a way to get APC to only create one cache per account / site. This can be done with Fastcgi (last update 2006…) but with Fastcgid APC will have to create multiple caches for multiple processes run by the same account. To get around this problem, we have been looking into PHP-FPM PHP process manager allows multiple PHP processes to share a single APC cache. But from what I have read (I hope I'm wrong) , even if you create a pool per process, all sites accross all pools will share the same APC cache. This brings us back to the same problem as with shared Memcached: it's not secure ! On php-fpm's site I read that you can chroot php-fpm pools and define a specific UID and GID per pool… if this is the case then shouldn't APC have to use this user and not have access to other pools cache ? An article here (in 2011) suggests that you would need to run one process per pool creating multiple launchers on different ports and different config files with one pool per config file : http://groups.drupal.org/node/198168 Is this still neceessary ? If so what would be the impact of running say 800 processes of php-fpm ? Would it be mainly memory ? If so how can I work out what the memory impact would be ? I guess that it would be better to run 800 times php-fpm then to have accounts creating multiple APC caches for a single site ? If on average an account creates a 50MB cache and creates 3 caches per account that makes 150Mb per account which makes 120GB… However if each account uses on average only 50Mb that would make 40GB We will have at least 128GB of ram on our next server so 40GB is acceptable if running 800 x PHP-FPM does not create an overhead of more than 20GB ! What do you think is PHP-FPM the best way to go to provide secure APC cache on shared hosting with a server that has a decent amount of memory ? Or should I be looking at another system ? Thanks !

• NSURLConnection sendSynchronousRequest: fails when using POST

  I'm using a custom NSURLCache to intercept calls for certain web pages in order to modify them dynamically. Inside cachedResponseForRequest: I modify the request, then send it out using sendSynchronousRequest. This works very well until you attempt to submit a form. If there is post data it fails. If i remove the HTTPBody and set the request to GET, it succeeds. But i need it to work with POST. If i send the request asynchronously it also works which is why i can't figure out why the synchronous request fails. • Have set Expiration time: Still getting "Query string present but no explicit expiration time"

  I have one local Apache instance running with mod_cache (+ disk & mem) enabled, and it seems to cache content from my appserver fine. My app server sets Expiration headers and Last-modified. Yet, when deploying on a production server with the same modules enabled, I am getting the following error in my logs: blablabla not cached. Reason: Query string present but no explicit expiration time Any clues on why Apache is not caching content? The only difference is the Apache version. Locally I am running 2.2. • ASP MVC2 model binding issue on POST

  So I'm looking at moving from MVC 1.0 to MVC 2.0 RTM. One of the conventions I'd like to start following is using the strongly-typed HTML helpers for generating controls like text boxes. However, it looks like it won't be an easy jump. I tried migrating my first form, replacing lines like this: <%= Html.TextBox("FirstName", Model.Data.FirstName, new {maxlength = 30}) %> ...for lines like this: <%= Html.TextBoxFor(x => x.Data.FirstName, new {maxlength = 30}) %> Previously, this would map into its appropriate view model on a POST, using the following method signature: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Registration(AccountViewInfo viewInfo) Instead, it currently gets an empty object back. I believe the disconnect is in the fact that we pass the view model into a larger aggregate object that has some page metadata and other fun stuff along with it (hence x.Data.FirstName instead of x.FirstName). So my question is: what is the best way to use the strongly-typed helpers while still allowing the MVC framework to appropriately cast the form collection to my view-model as it does in the original line? Is there any way to do it without changing the aggregate type we pass to the view? Thanks!

  Hey guys, I have a slight problem... we made a change to our url structure the other day and have broken links all over. What I did was change links from: http://blog.mydomain.com/articles/123 To: http://blog.mydomain.com/articles/this-is-a-smaple Is there anyway to direct any links linking to the pages ID number to the postname???? The old url structure is still being published throughout our RSS feed on facebook. So I am trying to catch those people that are or maybe clicking on our links on our facebook posts and redirect them to that posts postname url? Does that make sense? Thanks and help would do

• C# mvc2 client side form validation with xval, prevent post

  I'm using xval to use client side validation in my asp.net mvc2 webapplication. Despite the errors it's giving when i enter text in a nummeric field it still tries to post the form to the database. The incorrect values are being replaced by 0 and saved to the database. But instead it shouldn't even be possible to try and submit the form. Can anyone help me out here?   Use VS2010 silverlight business application template to createa defaut solution. Change authentication to Windows in Web.config and the code in app.xaml.cs to use windows authentication. Nothing else changed. Then run this app from vs2010 built-in web server, it is fine, I can see the login user info from windws(from a AD domain account) display on the top-right of the screen, like DomainName\userName.   I used HTTPComponents to implement a custom web server that access SQLite database. Requests are sent via TCP/IP and I am using REST concepts. By the way my frontend is HTML/jQuery. I know it will be a lot easier if I'll just create a servlet but I am restricted to just using apache http server. I really don't get good performance in using HTTP Components. The web service is running on Glassfish and is soap 1.1, I've tried using all the packaged wcf bindings but have not been able to get them to work. I started down the path of using a MessageInspector, and wrote one but then realized there must be a better way, surely WCF provides some way to insert saml 2.0 assertions. I've made the most progress writing a custom binding - i've been able to get the timestamp and signature nodes in the soap header, but cannot for the life of me figure out the saml assertion. • Android/Java -- Post simple text to Facebook wall?

  Hello all, I'm trying to integrate posting to one's wall from within my app. I already have an area where the user can save his/her username and password (encrypted). I would like my program to recall the saved username and password, pass that to Facebook for authentication, and then allow the app to post simple text (maybe a link too) to the user's wall. That said, I've read everything on the developer pages at Facebook (the api looks completely foreign to me... I've never don't any type of web app development before... just desktop apps), and experimented with the Java libraries here: http://wiki.developers.facebook.com/index.php/User:Java but to be honest, I don't understand any of the various implementations. Some claim to be simple to use, but apparently they are all way above my head. I've even tried messing with the official Facebook Android SDK, but that uses a webview interface, and I can't pass in the username and password for easy authentication. Plus, I'm still clueless as to how to post to the wall even after correct authentication. Please help. Thanks. Oh, btw I already have a Facebook API key and Application ID.

• Proper way to bind WCF webservice to both HTTP (for dev) and HTTPS (for production)

  Seems like this would be fairly straightfoward but I can't figure it out. In lieu of using an ASMX web service, I'm trying to go with WCF.. and finding it hard to figure out bindings. I would like to be able to use HTTP to connect to the WCF service for local development (and on our "staging" server), but require HTTPS on our production server. Should this be possible with two bindings? I cannot get it to work. If someone could provide an example of just a very basic HTTP and HTTPS WCF setup, I'd be eternally grateful. Or point me to a book/website/etc. which solves all the mysteries of WCF.. that'd be great. Because right now it's looking easier to just go back to ASMX.

• Unusual Caching Issue with IE 7/8 and IIS 7

  We recently moved a site into production running Server 2008 x64 and IIS 7. The ASP.NET pages apparently load just fine, but when it comes to IE 7 and 8, a weird caching issue has cropped up with the CSS and JavaScript files on the page. On a very sporadic schedule, IE does not get all the files necessary to compose the page (i.e. CSS and JS files). When I manually go to the missing files from the address bar, they come back from local cache as empty. I F5 these source files and magically they come down properly. I refresh the site after loading a few files and the cache seems to hold. This problem has only been reproduced (again, sporadically) on IE 7 and 8 running XP. Chrome and Firefox appear to be immune. We have set IIS to use server-side kernel caching for CSS, JS and images. We also have set to expire content for the App_Themes and Scripts directories to expire immediately. One initial thought it was a SWF loading an FLV on page load. These fixes have not remedied the problem. We had no problems on our staging server which is using Server 2003 and IIS 6. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. P.S.   I have a red5 application http://code.google.com/p/openmeetings that runs under red5, and is accessible on port 5080 and 8443 I've installed it on Ubuntu 10.04 The eventual aim is to have it accessible via https on 443 instead of 8443, but I thought I would initially try on 80 so that any issues were just down to the port configuration and not SSL certificates. I've tried changing the port from 5080 to 80 in the red5.properties file, but it fails to start. In the red5.log I have seen ERROR o.a.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol - Error initializing endpoint java.net.BindException: Permission denied /0.0.0.0:80 In the error.log I have seen ERROR o.a.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol - Error initializing endpoint java.net.BindException: Permission denied /0.0.0.0:80 and ERROR org.red5.server.tomcat.TomcatLoader - Error loading tomcat, unable to bind connector. You may not have permission to use the selected port org.apache.catalina.LifecycleException: Protocol handler initialization failed: java.net.BindException: Permission denied /0.0.0.0:80 There is nothing else installed or running on port 80, so I presume that this is a "needs to be root" situation. I would rather not run an Internet accessible web service as root. I know that Tomcat can run on port 80 by changing “#AUTHBIND=no” to “AUTHBIND=yes” in /etc/default/tomcat6 but I have not been able to find anything similar for red5. Am I on a hiding to nothing, or is there better way than running as root ? Thanks!

• ASP.NET MVC OutputCache with POST Controller Actions

  I'm fairly new to using the OutputCache attribute in ASP.NET MVC. Static Pages I've enabled it on static pages on my site with code such as the following: [OutputCache(Duration = 7200, VaryByParam = "None")] public class HomeController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { //... If I understand correctly, I made the whole controller cache for 7200 seconds (2 hours). Dynamic Pages However, how does it work with dynamic pages? By dynamic, I mean where the user has to submit a form. As an example, I have a page with an email form. Here's what that code looks like: public class ContactController : Controller { // // GET: /Contact/ public ActionResult Index() { return RedirectToAction("SubmitEmail"); } public ActionResult SubmitEmail() { //In view for CAPTCHA: <%= Html.GenerateCaptcha() %> return View(); } [CaptchaValidator] [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult SubmitEmail(FormCollection formValues, bool captchaValid) { //Validate form fields, send email if everything's good... if (isError) { return View(); } else { return RedirectToAction("Index", "Home"); } } public void SendEmail(string title, string name, string email, string message) { //Send an email... } } What would happen if I applied OutputCache to the whole controller here? Would the HTTP POST form submission work? Also, my form has a CAPTCHA; would that change anything in the equation? In other words, what's the best way to approach caching with dynamic pages? • Why does IIS not support chunked transfer encoding?

  I am making an HTTP connection to an IIS web server and sending a POST request with the data encoded using Transfer-Encoding: chunked. When I do this, IIS simply closes the connection, with no error message or status code. According to the HTTP 1.1 spec, All HTTP/1.1 applications MUST be able to receive and decode the "chunked" transfer-coding so I don't understand why it's (a) not handling that encoding and (b) it's not sending back a status code. If I change the request to send the Content-Length rather than Transfer-Encoding, the query succeeds, but that's not always possible. When I try the same thing against Apache, I get a "411 Length required" status and a message saying "chunked Transfer-Encoding forbidden". Why do these servers not support this encoding?

• How to prevent HTTP 304 in Django test server

  I have a couple of projects in Django and alternate between one and another every now and then. All of them have a /media/ path, which is served by django.views.static.serve, and they all have a /media/css/base.css file. The problem is, whenever I run one project, the requests to base.css return an HTTP 304 (not modified), probably because the timestamp hasn't changed. But when I run the other project, the same 304 is returned, making the browser use the file cached by the previous project (and therefore, using the wrong stylesheet). Just for the record, here are the middleware classes: MIDDLEWARE_CLASSES = ( 'django.middleware.common.CommonMiddleware', 'django.contrib.sessions.middleware.SessionMiddleware', 'django.contrib.auth.middleware.AuthenticationMiddleware', 'django.middleware.transaction.TransactionMiddleware', ) I always use the default address http://localhost:8000. Is there another solution (other than using different ports - 8001, 8002, etc.)?
