  The cluster managing software for managing clusters on a windows server 2005 cluster had a checkbox for "allow application to interact with desktop" when creating a generic application resource. This appears to be gone in the management software for server 2008 clusters. Does anyone know where this option, if it still exists, is?

• Tversity DNLA services with Xbox 360

  I'm hosting a Tversity instance on my Windows 2008 server and sharing some media. My PS3 detects this as a DNLA device and can play back the media just fine. Tversity shows up on my Xbox 360, but when i click on it, it just loads and loads and after a minute it times out and tells me it can't connect. Has anyone successfully gotten this working?

  People who use OpenDNS and go to a non-existing domain are getting a nice fancy search page telling them that the domain doesn't exists instead of the browser error page. Here in my home network we have a Windows 2008 R2 server with the DNS role enabled. Is there any way to make my own fancy looking error page to show up at all computers when they enter a domain not found by the local DNS server and the forwarders / root hints servers?

  I have a SQL 2008 R2 Express on which backups are made by executing sqlmaint from windows task planer. Several backups ran into an error and got stuck in state SUSPENDED with wait type WRITELOG. How can I get these backup processes to stop so they release resources? Simply killing the processes doesn't work. The process will stay in KILL/ROLL for a long time. This didn't change for several hours.

  Is it possible to connect two servers running for example Windows Server 2003/2008 together. For example they are seen on the network as one server with the combination of all HDD from each server? Example: \\Server1 - 1 x 1tb hdd \\Server2 - 1 x 1tb hdd I would like users of the network to be able to store their documents on both servers for load balancing.   Can the utility "Installation Monitor" from the Windows 2000 Resource Kit Tools for administrative tasks be used on newer OS's, specifically, Windows Server 2008 R2. The main thing I am concerned about is it may error will not track things correctly without letting me know that that it errored due to how Windows has changed between 2000 and today.   I got this laptop from my dad and don't have the Microsoft Office 2008 CD which is what he had installed when he gave it to me to use. Now I've got a client that wants me to do some freelance work and sent me to Microsoft Exchange and the first thing it wants me to do in the Exchange is install Office365. The client mentioned very briefly that he would get me the software if necessary but he wasn't specific about what software. Now that I see it my concern is after the job is done I'll be left with a monthly bill to have Office. Will it be possible to go back to Office 2008 without having the CD?

Currently you can go to either 'https://remote.site.co.uk/remote' to acces the remote web workspace or 'https://remote.site.co.uk/owa' to go straight to remote exchange access. I would like to set it up so that by going to 'https://remote.site.co.uk/exchange' it takes you to same place that '/owa' would. Does anybody know if this is possible, and if so how? Many thanks

  I was rebooting a remote server (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard) over remote desktop and the session now shows the blue screen during the shutdown sequence, and the message "Please wait for the System Event Notification Service..." It seems that everything is still running on the server (for instance, http://jeffhandley.com is still responding), but I need to get the machine to finish the reboot sequence. How can I force the machine past this point? It's been stuck there for about 30 minutes.
