• Windows Mobile application icon

  Is it possible to specify the application icon for a windows mobile app from a resource file or other configuration besides the .csproj? The reason I would like to do this is because I have an application that can be configured to run in several different ways. We would like to build out three unique .cabs based on these configurations, and we would like to use a different icon for each version. One option we've considered is just running multiple builds and swapping out the icon file each time, but we were hoping there would be a way to do this using a "resource" DLL or something along those lines, that could be compiled or linked in to the main .exe.

• Switching function states

  Dear experts, I would like to implement a API of Javascript that sort of resemble a light switch. For instance, there are two buttons on the actual HTML page act as the UI. Both of the buttons have event handlers that invokes a different function. Each function have codes that act like a state, for instance. button1.onclick=function (){ $("div").click( //code effects 2 ) } button2.onclick=function (){ $("div").click( //Code effects 2 ) } I the code works fine on the surface but the 2 state functions overlap. the effects is going to take place for the rest of the way until the next reload of the document. Basically what I want to achieve is that when 1 button is clicked, it will switch "OFF" the state of function invoked by the other button and vice versa. Thus, the effects achieved are unique are not overlapped. Is there anyway to achieve this or could any experts point me to the right direction. Thanks in advance.

  Hello, I have been looking for a while now but I can not find an easy solution for my problem. I would like to duplicate a record in a table, but of course, the unique primary key needs to be updated. I have this query: INSERT INTO invoices SELECT * FROM invoices AS iv WHERE iv.ID=XXXXX ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE ID = (SELECT MAX(ID)+1 FROM invoices) the proble mis that this just changes the ID of the row instead of copying the row. Does anybody know how to fix this ? Thank you verrry much, Digits //edit: I would like to do this without typing all the field names because the field names can change over time.

• Specify sorting order for a GROUP BY query to retrieve oldest or newest record for each group

  I need to get the most recent record for each device from an upgrade request log table. A device is unique based on a combination of its hardware ID and its MAC address. I have been attempting to do this with GROUP BY but I am not convinced this is safe since it looks like it may be simply returning the "top record" (whatever SQLite or MySQL thinks that is). I had hoped that this "top record" could be hinted at by way of ORDER BY but that does not seem to be having any impact as both of the following queries returns the same records for each device, just in opposite order: SELECT extHwId, mac, created FROM upgradeRequest GROUP BY extHwId, mac ORDER BY created DESC SELECT extHwId, mac, created FROM upgradeRequest GROUP BY extHwId, mac ORDER BY created ASC Is there another way to accomplish this? I've seen several somewhat related posts that have all involved sub selects. If possible, I would like to do this without subselects as I would like to learn how to do this without that.

• Using css "active tab" technique on single page

  I'm building a navigation system using jquery scrollto. I have my navigation menu in a separate file (( navigation.php )). It is included in 5 locations on the first page (( 5 different sections w/ text following each )). I'm trying to figure out a way to have the current "tab" highlight'd. I could hard code the navigation in each location to ensure it shows up the correct way, but I'd rather use the phpinclude() method. The other issue is that each "tab" has it's own unique color (( cmykd )). Here is the alpha version of what I'm doing (( when you click && the page slides, the "active tab" still stays grey -- I'd like it to be the corresponding color )).   So I'm comfortable with the basic concept of CQS, where you might have a command that writes to one database, and that updates the query database that you read from. However, consider the scenario where you are entering data, and want to prevent duplicates. Using new employee data entry an employee register as an example, working through a pile of application forms to key in the new employees' details: Take top sheet. Key in employee name and unique payroll number to UI. Submit. Put paper in "completed pile". Repeat. How would you now prevent the user from keying in the same payroll number again, say for instance if they get distracted and can't remember whether they've keyed one in already and the "message" hasn't got all the way back to the query db for the user to search?

  Hi! I'm new to Qlikview and looking for some answers regarding scripting. How can I create Qlickview joins that just join on a specific column (and not all that are having a matching name)? • Why do values in the row I insert not match the values in the insert query?

  I just can't understand why is my database (mysql) behaving like this! My console shows that the record is created properly (please, notice the "remote_id" value): Tweet Create (0.3ms) INSERT INTO `tweets` (`remote_id`, `text`, `user_id`, `twitter_account_id`) VALUES (12325438258, 'jamaica', 1, 1) But when I check the record, it shows that the remote_id is 2147483647 intead of the provided value (12325438258 in the example above)... This table has many entries, but this field is always written with 2147483647... It was supposed to fill this space with an unique id (which I guarantee you is being generated properly).

• What's the best way to implement one-dimensional collision detection?

  I'm writing a piece of simulation software, and need an efficient way to test for collisions along a line. The simulation is of a train crossing several switches on a track. When a wheel comes within N inches of the switch, the switch turns on, then turns off when the wheel leaves. Since all wheels are the same size, and all switches are the same size, I can represent them as a single coordinate X along the track. Switch distances and wheel distances don't change in relation to each other, once set. This is a fairly trivial problem when done through brute force by placing the X coordinates in lists, and traversing them, but I need a way to do so efficiently, because it needs to be extremely accurate, even when the train is moving at high speeds. There's a ton of tutorials on 2D collision detection, but I'm not sure the best way to go about this unique 1D scenario.

• Looping over some selected values in a stored procedure

  I'm trying to modify a stored procedure hooked into an ORM tool. I want to add a few more rows based on a loop of some distinct values in a column. Here's the current SP: SELECT GRP = STAT_CD, CODE = REASN_CD FROM dbo.STATUS_TABLE WITH (NOLOCK) Order by STAT_CD, SRT_ORDR For each distinct STAT_CD, I'd also like to insert a REASN_CD of "--" here in the SP. However I'd like to do it before the order by so I can give them negative sort orders so they come in at the top of the list. I'm getting tripped up on how to implement this. Does anyone know how to do this for each unique STAT_CD?

• Making an asynchronous interface appear synchronous to mod_python users

  I have a Python-driven web interface powered by Apache 2.2 with mod_python and Python 2.4. I need to make an asynchronous process appear synchronous to users of this web interface. When users access one module on this website: An external SOAP interface will be contacted with a unique identifier and will respond with a number N The external interface will respond asynchronously by contacting a SOAP server on my machine between 1 and 10 times (the number N tells us how many responses we will receive) I need to somehow aggregate these responses and pass them to the original module which will display the information back to the user. The goal is to make the process appear synchronous to the user. What is the best way to handle this synchronization issue? Is this something Twisted would be well-suited for? I am not restricting myself to Python for the solution, though it is preferred because everything else on the server is in Python. I prefer a solution that is both scalable and will take a minimal amount of programming time (though I understand that these attributes are somewhat at odds).

  I've got a table in a testing DB that someone apparently got a little too trigger-happy on when running INSERT scripts to set it up. The schema looks like this: ID UNIQUEIDENTIFIER TYPE_INT SMALLINT SYSTEM_VALUE SMALLINT NAME VARCHAR MAPPED_VALUE VARCHAR It's supposed to have a few dozen rows. It has about 200,000, most of which are duplicates in which TYPE_INT, SYSTEM_VALUE, NAME and MAPPED_VALUE are all identical and ID is not. Now, I could probably make a script to clean this up that creates a temporary table in memory, uses INSERT .. SELECT DISTINCT to grab all the unique values, TRUNCATE the original table and then copy everything back. But is there a simpler way to do it, like a DELETE query with something special in the WHERE clause?

  I am trying to use textwrap to format an import file that is quite particular in how it is formatted. Basically, it is as follows (line length shortened for simplicity): abcdef <- Ok line abcdef ghijk <- Note leading space to indicate wrapped line lm Now, I have got code to work as follows: wrapper = TextWrapper(width=80, subsequent_indent=' ', break_long_words=True, break_on_hyphens=False) for l in lines: wrapline=wrapper.wrap(l) This works nearly perfectly, however, the text wrapping code doesn't do a hard break at the 80 character mark, it tries to be smart and break on a space (at approx 20 chars in). I have got round this by replacing all spaces in the string list with a unique character (#), wrapping them and then removing the character, but surely there must be a cleaner way? N.B Any possible answers need to work on Python 2.4 - sorry!

  Hi In this article Ayende describes how to map a single domain model to multiple physical data models. Is it possible to extend this principle such that the mapping can chosen dynamically? So for example, imagine we had an entity that could be written to the same physical schema in three ways depending on its current status, and lets assume that regardless of status each entity had a unique identifier. One solution would be to represent the entity in its different states with three separate classes: one for each mapping. Then the entity could be loaded and in order to change its state the entity could be mapped to a class representing one of its other states and then saved back to the schema, making use of a different mapping. I was wondering if it is at all possible to have the same entity represented by one class that held a status flag (kind of like a discriminator), and any save to the schema would choose the appropriate mapping based on the value of the status flag.   In the past I've used a Singleton Pattern to load the connection string when the application starts via the global.asa file. I have a project now where each user has a unique connection string to the database. I would like to load this connection string once. The issue is that the singleton pattern will not work for me since each user has there own connection string. Basically the connection string is created dynamically. I do not want to store it is session. If anyway has a clever way of doing this in .NET let me know ?

  I've seen people use many-to-one mappings to represent one-to-one relationships. I've also read this in a book by Gavin King and on articles. For example, if a customer can have exactly one shipping address, and a shipping address can belong to only one customer, the mapping is given as: <class name="Customer" table="CUSTOMERS"> ... <many-to-one name="shippingAddress" class="Address" column="SHIPPING_ADDRESS_ID" cascade="save-update" unique="true"/> ... </class> The book reasons as (quoting it): "You don't care what's on the target side of the association, so you can treat it like a to-one association without the many part." My question is, why use many-to-one and not one-to-one? What is it about a one-to-one that makes it a less desirable option to many-to-one? Thanks.

• Seeking FOSS user admin code

  It must be a fairly standard wheel, so I'd rather not reinvent it. Create/modify/delete users. Ditto their passwords & maybe enforce password change every X days. Also, create groups, like "sales", "support", etc and add/remove users. The only unique part should be what they have permission to do (visit certain parts of the site after login, etc) And I'd like to store admin data in an ODBC compliant database (MySql to start with, but I may move on). Is this a new wheel? There doesn't seem to be much of anything on SourceForge, but if I could find something established and trusted I wouldn't even mind paying a few $100 as a trade of for the time needed to develop & test it.
