  • Latest Boot Camp drivers for Windows 7

    I've just recently received my new MacBook Pro, and I've begun exploring Boot Camp; dual-booting Windows 7 Enterprise. I've heard chatter that there are some new Boot Camp drivers--newer than the ones that come with your OSX Show Leopard installation CD. But I'm having a hard time locating them. These updated drivers should fix a few issues with the trackpad, amongst other things. Can you guys point me in the right direction?

  • MegaCli newly created disk doesn't appear under /dev/sdX

    After having successfully added 2 new disks in a new RAID virtual drive (background initialization done), I would have exepected it to appear under /dev/sdh but it's not there (so, unusable). The system is running a CentOS 5.2 64 bits, HAL and udev daemons are running, not records of any sdh apparition under the messsage log file or in dmesg, only MegaCli do see that virtual drive. Any idea ?   • Wiping a laptop from Bios

    I am trying to wipe an old laptops hard drive, it doesn't have a CD drive so have been using a USB to try and wipe the hard drive from the BIOS. I have been using http://www.dban.org/ which I installed as an ISO on the USB Stick. When ever I try to boot into this I get an error saying 'No operating system' Does anyone know of a way to wipe a hard drive? I also tried to boot into safe mode but I just stay on a constant loop.   • HP Smart Array p400i with Intel X25-M 160 SSD

    I have a pair of x25-M 160 Intel SSD's in an HP DL360 G5 with a p400i Smart Array running 512 BBWC. The disk performance I am getting on this box and another identical one does not come close to matching the same two drives running through a cheap 3ware RAID card. Any idea? I have played with the cache settings, but nothing allows me to get the same results. It seems like the Smart Array controller is the bottleneck.

  • convert full-disk RAID5 array to partition-based array?

    I have a RAID 5 array, md0, with three full-disk (non-partitioned) members, sdb, sdc, and sdd. My computer will hang during the AHCI BIOS if AHCI is enabled instead of IDE, if these drives are plugged in. I believe it may be because I'm using the whole disk, and the AHCI BIOS expects an MBR to be on the drive (I don't know why it would care). Is there a way to convert the array to use members sdb1, sdc1 and sdd1, partitioned MBR with 0xFD RAID partitions?

  • Run Java Project from Ubuntu Terminal?

    I have a small java project that handle connections. In order to run it from the terminal I have to cd into the folder that contains the source and run the following command: java -cp classes com.packagename.mainclass Where classes is the folder that contains the classes. I want ubuntu to run this application on startup, is there a Java command I can use? Or am I just better off creating a shell script? Thanks!

  • Is it possible to install Ubuntu Server 10.04 *from* a USB drive?

    I've tried the Universal USB Installer from PenDrive, and put 10.04 Ubuntu Server on it. But when I boot up and try to install, it looks for a Ubuntu CD ROM, which I do not have. I thought the whole point is to be able to install from a USB, which seems easy with the Desktop version. Why is the server version not allowing me to do this? Am I missing something?

    Although a good tool OpenDB hasn't been updated since 12/2008. The source code shows some recent activity, but still sparse at best. Anyone know of good web based cataloging alternatives? I'm looking to catalog the 500+ software CD's we have. Also, as a side note. OpenDB will handle software, but you have to create a custom media type, which is a PAIN!!!
