  • segemented control in iphone not appearing as in interface builder

    here is what i see in IB and here is what appears in the simulator i've used a segmented control with style = "Bezelled". When i change the style to "Bar", IB and simulator are consistent in the display. the style is set in interface builder and not in code, if that matters Also - the edges look rather ugly in the simulator. not what i expected even when it rendered incorrectly.   • Realtime MySQL search results on an advanced search page

    I'm a hobbyist, and started learning PHP last September solely to build a hobby website that I had always wished and dreamed another more competent person might make. I enjoy programming, but I have little free time and enjoy a wide range of other interests and activities. I feel learning PHP alone can probably allow me to create 98% of the desired features for my site, but that last 2% is awfully appealing: The most powerful tool of the site is an advanced search page that picks through a 1000+ record game scenario database. Users can data-mine to tremendous depths - this advanced page has upwards of 50 different potential variables. It's designed to allow the hardcore user to search on almost any possible combination of data in our database and it works well. Those who aren't interested in wading through the sea of options may use the Basic Search, which is comprised of the most popular parts of the Advanced search. Because the advanced search is so comprehensive, and because the database is rather small (less than 1,200 potential hits maximum), with each variable you choose to include the likelihood of getting any qualifying results at all drops dramatically. In my fantasy land where I can wield AJAX as if it were Excalibur, my users would have a realtime Total Results counter in the corner of their screen as they used this page, which would automatically update its query structure and report how many results will be displayed with the addition of each variable. In this way it would be effortless to know just how many variables are enough, and when you've gone and added one that zeroes out the results set. A somewhat similar implementation, at least visually, would be the Subtotal sidebar when building a new custom computer on IBuyPower.com For those of you actually still reading this, my question is really rather simple: Given the time & ability constraints outlined above, would I be able to learn just enough AJAX (or whatever) needed to pull this one feature off without too much trouble? would I be able to more or less drop-in a pre-written code snippet and tweak to fit? or should I consider opening my code up to a trusted & capable individual in the future for this implementation?     N00b here, having problems escaping strings. I used the QuotedStr() function - shouldn't that be enough. Unfortunately, the string that I am trying to quote is rather messy, but I will post it here in case anyone wants to paste it into WinMerge or KDiff3, etc. I am trying to store an entire Delphi form into the database, rather than into a .DFM file. It has only one field, a TEdit edit box. What am I doing that is obviously, glaringly wrong?

Our attempted solution is to set client read timeouts and come up with a framework for resending requests or otherwise handling those failures gracefully. But really, I'd like to know any root causes for how this might happen rather than addressing the symptoms.

However, the CMS editor I'm using will not allow php to be stored to the database (it's the same editor used by Dupral). I can store JavaScript though. Can I import a php file with JavaScript.   • How do I Uninstall Screwturn?

    Hello, Since when I installed Screwturn I used Web Plateform Installer, I though I'd need to go through Control Panel to uninstall it. But, I saw nothing in the Install/Uninstall section of the control. Rather, I found all the ScrewTurn resources inside the C:\inetpub folder. Clearing everything inside that folder would help get rid of SrewTurn as I didn't copy/paste it there but the WPI did it for me? No side effect to be feared? Thanks for helping

    I'm reading some MPEG Transport Stream protocol over UDP and it has some funky bitfields in it (length 13 for example). I'm using the "struct" library to do the broad unpacking, but is there a simple way to say "Grab the next 13 bits" rather than have to hand-tweak the bit manipulation? I'd like something like the way C does bit fields (without having to revert to C). Suggestions?

    Why did they never let us do this sort of thing: Create Proc RunParameterisedSelect @tableName varchar(100), @columnName varchar(100), @value varchar(100) as select * from @tableName where @columnName = @value You can use @value as a parameter, obviously, and you can achieve the whole thing with dynamic SQL, but creating it is invariably a pain. So why didn't they make it part of the language in some way, rather than forcing you to EXEC(@sql)?

I want to be able to (in the java code, NOT force it in the SQL) to be able to take a ResultSet and transform it so that it only contains 1 (the first) row. What would be the way to acheive this?
