    Possible Duplicates: How to show popup message like in stackoverflow Header message just like at Stack Overflow How to display a message on screen without refreshing like SO does? I'm looking for something like StackOverflow's banner that pops up (or rather drops down) from the top of the screen when you have a new alert. Preferably some javascript widget, though I'd be open to anything that will work with an ASP.Net MVC2 web page. All I'm looking for is a simple top-banner alert/message that looks good, preferably with a cancel button. Is there something like that, freely available?

  • User Control not loading based on location

    I have an ASP.net MVC solution that uses nested master pages to load content. On the first Master page I load a header, then have the Content Placeholder, and then load a footer. This master page is referenced by another master page which adds some additional information based on the user being logged in or not. When I load a page that references these master pages, the header loads, but the footer does not. If I move the footer up above the Content Place Holder it loads into the page. Any ideas why this might be the case? But i want to keep the look and feel of the original button. How can i do it? Thanks.

  • Visual Studio 2008 - formatting/control characters/marks

    Hi, I don't know what I did but somehow the IDE has started displaying a green dot whenever I press spacebar and a green arrowhead whenever I press TAB. The source has become littered with these characters all over and I am finding it very difficult to code in the presence of so many formatting marks. I have tried to search a solution on Google but couldn't perhaps enter the right keywords so haven't been able to fix the behavior. Is there any way I can stop VS2008 IDE from littering my source code with these green dots and arrowheads whenever I press spacebar/tab? I would be really thankful for this help. It needs to render the html like this: All Leads <i>(include Archive &amp; Trash)</i> How can I fix this? Thanks.

    I know 1000s of similar topics floating around. I read at lest 5 threads here in SO But why am I still not convinced about DVCS? I have only following questions (note that I am selfishly worried only about Java projects) What is the advantage or value of committing locally? What? really? All modern IDEs allows you to keep track of your changes? and if required you can restore a particular change. Also, they have a feature to label your changes/versions at IDE level!? what if I crash my hard drive? where did my local repository go? (so how is it cool compared to checking in to a central repo?) Working offline or in an air plane. What is the big deal?In order for me to build a release with my changes, I must eventually connect to the central repository. Till then it does not matter how I track my changes locally. Ok Linus Torvalds gives his life to Git and hates everything else. Is that enough to blindly sing praises? Linus lives in a different world compared to offshore developers in my mid-sized project? Pitch me!

  • IE6 HTML control wrapping

    Is there any way to prevent wrapping across controls in IE6? For example, I have a label and a single select box. The select box width is dynamic (depending on the content). I want the label to always be to the left of the select box. Right now the problem I am having is the select box drops below the label. I have tried using the <nobr> tag as well as CSS word-wrap rules, but because this isn't text the wrapping rules do not apply. The only way I have found for sure to make it work is to place them in a two-column table, but I do not like this solution. Is there any other way?

    Best to explain with an example. TabControl has Tab1 and Tab2. I'm trying to make it so when Tab1 is selected, Button1 is visible and stays visible. When Tab2 is selected, Button1 is invisible and stays invisible. I need it to work when the Tab is clicked, not when the content area of the Tab is clicked. Thank you.

    I am trying to: 1) create a dynamic property 2) bind that property to a label This works great for "sealed properties", but for dynamic properties there doesn't appear to be any event triggered. Are dynamic properties implicityly not bindable? var myObj:MyType = new MyType(); // MyType is dynamic myObj["myDynamicPropertyName"] = "initialized"; BindingUtils.bindProperty(myLabel, "data", myObj, repeatedLabel.name); // myLabel now displays "initialized" myObj["myDynamicPropertyName"] = "changed"; // myLabel still displays "initialized", it should say "changed" !!!

  • Reuse ASP.NET Control Multiple Times on Page

    I feel somewhat foolish asking such a simple question, but I can't seem to find an answer. I'm new to ASP.NET (C#), but I'm learning by building a simple set of web pages that display a report. I have a variable that represents a company name. I need to output this variable in multiple places on the web page. The only way I have found to output a variable this is with: company_name.Text = "Acme Windows"; then <asp:literal id="company_name" runat="server" /> My problem is that I want to use company_name in multiple places on the page. Do I really have to create a separate variable holding the the same value for each time it is placed on the page? If I just copy the above XML code to all the places I want to show the variable it obviously creates a compile error since that ID is already defined. I feel like I'm missing something very obvious.
