• Setting Canvas properties in an ItemsControl DataTemplate

  I'm trying to databind to this ItemsControl: <ItemsControl ItemsSource="{Binding Path=Nodes, Mode=TwoWay, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged}"> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <Canvas /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> </ItemsControl> By using this DataTemplate, I'm trying to individually position my Node elements correctly: <DataTemplate DataType="{x:Type Model:EndNode}"> <Controls:EndNodeControl Canvas.Left="{Binding Path=XPos}" Canvas.Top="{Binding Path=YPos}" /> </DataTemplate> However, it's not working as expected. All my node elements are drawn on top of each other in the same position. Any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

• design time usercontrols - I can't see anything!

  newbie question, please forgive... I'm developing a Wpf UserControl that will eventually be bound to a business object. The usercontrol is little more than a series of laid out TextBlocks, and perhaps (later) an image or two. As I'm laying out the usercontrol, I can put dummy text into all the TextBlocks so I can see what the usercontrol will look like, but as soon as I change the text property to contain the Binding information: <TextBlock Margin="0,12.8,42,0" Name="lblLastName" FontSize="8" Height="19" VerticalAlignment="Top" Text="{Binding Mode=OneWay, Path=LastName}"/> Then I can no longer see the textbox, or any "placeholder" text. This makes it very difficult to adjust the location and sizes of all the controls on the UserControl. In WinFormas programming, you could set binding information independently of the Text property, so you could at least see the Placeholder text during design time development. It's going to be pretty hard to visually arrange a bunch of invisible TextBlocks! What's the standard solution for this?

  I've got a Windows Forms control that I'm wrapping with a WindowsFormsHost-derived class to access WPF's data binding functionality. The Forms control exposes properties that indicate its state, along with the standard property-changed event notifier. For example, a Zoom property on the Forms control is accompanied with a ZoomChanged event. In the WindowsFormsHost wrapper, I'm using a DependencyProperty to represent the underlying Windows Forms control property. Binding works as expected going to the control; however, I'm not sure how to correctly propogate property changes from the wrapped control back out to binding subscribers (i.e., the Windows Form control changes its Zoom property and raises the ZoomChanged event). Any ideas on how to accomplish this? Should I be using a different approach?

  I have a service being hosted in IIS on XP via fileless activation. The service starts fine when there is no SSL port enabled for IIS but when the SSL port is enabled, I get the error message: System.ServiceModel.ServiceActivationException: The service '/SkillsPrototype.Web/services/Linkage.svc' cannot be activated due to an exception during compilation. The exception message is: A binding instance has already been associated to listen URI 'http://rcollet.hsb-corp.hsb.com/SkillsPrototype.Web/Services/Linkage.svc'. If two endpoints want to share the same ListenUri, they must also share the same binding object instance.   Hi, I'm looking for an idiomatic way to get dynamically scoped variables in Clojure (or a similar effect) for use in templates and such. Here is an example problem using a lookup table to translate tag attributes from some non-HTML format to HTML, where the table needs access to a set of variables supplied from elsewhere: (def *attr-table* ; Key: [attr-key tag-name] or [boolean-function] ; Value: [attr-key attr-value] (empty array to ignore) ; Context: Variables "tagname", "akey", "aval" '( ; translate :LINK attribute in <a> to :href [:LINK "a"] [:href aval] ; translate :LINK attribute in <img> to :src [:LINK "img"] [:src aval] ; throw exception if :LINK attribute in any other tag [:LINK] (throw (RuntimeException. (str "No match for " tagname))) ; ... more rules ; ignore string keys, used for internal bookkeeping [(string? akey)] [] )) ; ignore I want to be able to evaluate the rules (left hand side) as well as the result (right hand side), and need some way to put the variables in scope at the location where the table is evaluated. I also want to keep the lookup and evaluation logic independent of any particular table or set of variables. I suppose there are similar issues involved in templates (for example for dynamic HTML), where you don't want to rewrite the template processing logic every time someone puts a new variable in a template. • Design advice for avoiding change in several classes

  Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to design a small application more elegantly, and make it more resistant to change. Basically it is a sort of project price calculator, and the problem is that there are many parameters that can affect the pricing. I'm trying to avoid cluttering the code with a lot of if-clauses for each parameter, but still I have e.g. if-clauses in two places checking for the value of the size parameter. I have the Head First Design Patterns book, and have tried to find ideas there, but the closest I got was the decorator pattern, which has an example where starbuzz coffee sets prices depending first on condiments added, and then later in an exercise by adding a size parameter (Tall, Grande, Venti). But that didn't seem to help, because adding that parameter still seemed to add if-clause complexity in a lot of places (and this being an exercise they didn't explain that further). What I am trying to avoid is having to change several classes if a parameter were to change or a new parameter added, or at least change in as few places as possible (there's some fancy design principle word for this that I don't rememeber :-)). Here below is the code. Basically it calculates the price for a project that has the tasks "Writing" and "Analysis" with a size parameter and different pricing models. There will be other parameters coming in later too, like "How new is the product?" • Good tool to test WCF service (not SOAP/HTTP webservice)

  I recently found SOAPUI and discovered that it is just a great tool for testing any SOAP/HTTP service. Conventionally, we have been developing our own driver to test our services (WCF based netTCP binding) so far. But with SOAPUI experience, I am really looking for some such tool that can be used with such ease with built-in facilities for load testing, functional testing etc. The other thought in my mind is that for services that I wish to deploy with netTCP can be first tested using a HTTP binding using SOAPUI. Once found suitable, the binding can be changed for the intended one. I shall like the views from all the experts here. Thanks.

I know how to use databinding to display a collection of person in a wpf list box and how to modify the listitemtemplate to customize how each person is displayed. Now I'd like to number each person on the list according to the order they appear on the list (which could change as the the items were sorted via name or age in the display).   In my modell got an NSMutableArray that keeps track of a changing number of elements. In my view I got a NSTextField that shows the number of elements. The view gots unarchived from the nib file and alloc/inits the modell. Therefore it knowns about the modell and the contained array. I established the connection as follows. In the Interface Builder at the textfield I added a Cocoa Binding "path" like this: myModell.myArray.@count. By this I can access the count property (which is a must since the array itself does not change). The binding is based on key-value compliance which I established at the modell so the array can be accessed. But key-value compliance is not part of the questions. My question: How can I put the binding into the sourcecode and not writing it into the Interface Builder?

Then a bit later on they say: It is important to always be paranoid about security when accepting any user input, and this is also true when binding objects to form input. You should be careful to always HTML encode any user-entered values to avoid HTML and JavaScript injection attacks Huh? MVC is managing the data binding for us. Where/how are you supposed to do the HTML encoding?

I Have a datacontext that has a "getuserbyguid" method, i want to pass in the current logged in user.userid as a parameter, but I don't know how to bind to the current logged in user through xaml. I've tried {Binding Path=User.UserId} but without any luck. I'm using the built in riaservices authentication methods, so the userinfo should be exposed in the riacontext, or am I wrong about this? • Java: How to clear socket bindings

  I am having a few issues with sockets within my Java SIP client. When I bind to an address and port, if something goes wrong I have to attempt to reconnect, usually after I've stopped and restarted the process. Problem with that is then the port is bound and I am forced to increment the local port. How can I remove the binding to the port I am targeting before binding to it?   I'm binding a GridView to a collection of objects that look like this: public class Transaction { public string PersonName { get; set; } public DateTime TransactionDate { get; set; } public MoneyCollection TransactedMoney { get; set;} } MoneyCollection simply inherits from ObservableCollection<T>, and is a collection of MyMoney type object. In my GridView, I just want to bind a column to the MoneyCollection's ToString() method. However, binding it directly to the TransactedMoney property makes every entry display the text "(Collection)", and the ToString() method is never called. I understand that it is binding to the collection's default view. So my question is - how can I make it bind to the collection in such a way that it calls the ToString() method on it? This is my first WPF project, so I know this might be a bit noobish, but pointers would be very welcome.

  C# WinApps: the main form has a key binding to CTRL-V ...so anywhere in the main app when I press CTRL-V something runs..good ... but also there are some MDI apps that are opening inside this main app ... in one of those there is a test box...ah! now CTRL-V also has a meanining for text box which is "Paste" ... so I added PreViewKeyDown to textbox and handled it, so now it is pasting BUT it is ALSO doing the main CTRL-V key binding that I had defined for the whole app ... but I do no want this to happen.... what can I do? ( I cannot change the key binding od the main app. I must keep it.)

  I created own custom CentOS iso. I used mkisofs make it. This is part of my isolinux.cfg file: label vesa menu label Install ^RAIDIX system kernel vmlinuz append initrd=initrd.img xdriver=vesa nomodeset text linux ks=cdrom:/isolinux/ks.cfg If I specify parameter ks=cdrom:/isolinux/ks.cfg my iso will boot only from cd or dvd-rom. If I specify parameter ks=hd:<device>:/ks.cfg my iso will boot only from usb-drive. Can I specify ks parameter to boot from both type of installation media?

• MySQL Stored Procedure Parameters are NULL

  I am stumped, and was hoping someone here would have a quick and easy answer. I did a fresh install of MySQL 5.5 and am trying to pass parameters into a stored procedure. The parameter values aren't being read by the stored procedure. MySQL doesn't throw an error and processes the code with null parameters. Here is the code: DELIMITER $$ CREATE DEFINER=`root`@`%` PROCEDURE `testing`(IN parameter INTEGER) BEGIN UPDATE table_name SET valueToChange = 'Test' WHERE mainID = @parameter; END And here is the query I'm using to call it: USE database_name; CALL testing(72); Can anyone help?

• Own DataFormWebPart: Unable to display this Web Part.

  Hi, What I want is to display a paginable list from my custom data source. All came from the fact that I needed some logical relationships between seach scopes and some dates. I considered ContentQueryWebpart, but CAML is too complicated as I have plenty of different conditions, CoreResults webpart is too limited as it uses KeyWordQuery so I inherited from DataFormWebPart to display my own custom search results from my own custom xml source. Thats the best way i am aware of... I knew I needed some configuration to write in my pageLayout like MyWebParts:MyCustomWebPart etc so I went to Designer, put DataFormWebPart on a page, linked it to list of pages, and set multiple item view and that gave me some configuration.. Firstly i checked if DataFormWebPart works when put on pageLayout and it sucessfully displayed my pages list in pages library. But that was not what I wanted, i needed to set my own XML data source... I then changed the configuration of WebPartPages:DataFormWebPart to match mine and detach from any listName or listId and I change the XSL tag to much simplier to display all results and now I am getting: Unable to display this Web Part. To troubleshoot the problem, open this Web page in a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation-compatible HTML editor such as Microsoft SharePoint Designer.
