  • Fluid iPhone Animation ala Plants vs Zombies

    - by RyJ
If you've played Plants vs Zombies, you've seen how fluid and remarkable the character animation is. Can anyone assume how they are doing this? They don't seem to simply be animating bitmaps; the animation is too crisp, even as characters rotate and scale. The artwork looks vector, but I can't imagine that everything is drawn out using Core Graphics. Any ideas?

  • Error compiling / linking e text editor on Linux

    - by jckdnk111
The code compiles without too much complaint, but the last step fails with the error below. There is some discussion about it on the e forum, but still no answer. • Macro doesn't work in the function.

    - by avp
    I have problems with following code: http://lisper.ru/apps/format/96 The problem is in "normalize" function, which does not work. It fails on the fifth line: (zero-p a indexes i) (defun normalize (a &optional indexes i) "Returns normalized A." (pragma (format t "Data=~A ~A ~A" a indexes i) (if (zero-p a indexes i) a ;; cannot normalize empty vector (let* ((mmm (format t "Zero?=~a" (zero-p a indexes i))) (L (sqrt (+ (do-op-on * a :x a :x indexes i indexes i) (do-op-on * a :y a :y indexes i indexes i) (do-op-on * a :z a :z indexes i indexes i)))) (mmm (format t "L=~a" L)) (L (/ 1D0 L)) (mmm (format t "L=~a" L))) ; L=1/length(A) (make-V3 (* (ref-of a :x indexes i) l) (* (ref-of a :y indexes i) l) (* (ref-of a :z indexes i) l)))))) in function "normalize" I call the macro "zero-p", which in turn calls macro "ref-of", which is the last in the chain. (defmacro zero-p (v &optional indexes index) "Checks if the vector is 'almost' zero length." `(and (< (ref-of ,v :x ,indexes ,index) *min+*) (< (ref-of ,v :y ,indexes ,index) *min+*) (< (ref-of ,v :z ,indexes ,index) *min+*) (> (ref-of ,v :x ,indexes ,index) *min-*) (> (ref-of ,v :y ,indexes ,index) *min-*) (> (ref-of ,v :z ,indexes ,index) *min-*))) Here is ref-of: (defmacro ref-of (values coordinate &optional indexes index) "Please see DATA STRUCTURE for details." (if indexes (cond ((eq coordinate :x) `(aref ,values (aref ,indexes ,index))) ((eq coordinate :y) `(aref ,values (+ 1 (aref ,indexes ,index)))) ((eq coordinate :z) `(aref ,values (+ 2 (aref ,indexes ,index)))) (T (error "The symbol ~S is not :X, :Y or :Z." coordinate))) (cond ((eq coordinate :x) `(aref ,values 0)) ((eq coordinate :y) `(aref ,values 1)) ((eq coordinate :z) `(aref ,values 2)) (T (error "The symbol ~S is not :X, :Y or :Z." coordinate))))) Also, in "normalize" I call the macro "do-op-on", which calls "ref-of" as well. (defmacro do-op-on (op name1 coord1 name2 coord2 &optional is1 i1 is2 i2) "Example: (do-op-on * A :x B :y i n) == A[i[n]].x*B.y" `(,op (ref-of ,name1 ,coord1 ,is1 ,i1) (ref-of ,name2 ,coord2 ,is2 ,i2))) As a result, instead of having this: (aref some-array 0) I have (aref NIL NIL) which is created in "ref-of". I suppose that I lose the symbol A from the call (normalize A). I just feel that the symbol does not survive the macroexpanson. The thing is, macroexpansoin works in REPL for each macro independently. Can anyone explain where is the mistake?

  • creating objects from trivial graph format text file. java. dijkstra algorithm.

    - by user560084
    i want to create objects, vertex and edge, from trivial graph format txt file. one of programmers here suggested that i use trivial graph format to store data for dijkstra algorithm. the problem is that at the moment all the information, e.g., weight, links, is in the sourcecode. i want to have a separate text file for that and read it into the program. i thought about using a code for scanning through the text file by using scanner. but i am not quite sure how to create different objects from the same file. could i have some help please? the file is v0 Harrisburg v1 Baltimore v2 Washington v3 Philadelphia v4 Binghamton v5 Allentown v6 New York # v0 v1 79.83 v0 v5 81.15 v1 v0 79.75 v1 v2 39.42 v1 v3 103.00 v2 v1 38.65 v3 v1 102.53 v3 v5 61.44 v3 v6 96.79 v4 v5 133.04 v5 v0 81.77 v5 v3 62.05 v5 v4 134.47 v5 v6 91.63 v6 v3 97.24 v6 v5 87.94 and the dijkstra algorithm code is Downloaded from: http://en.literateprograms.org/Special:Downloadcode/Dijkstra%27s_algorithm_%28Java%29 */ import java.util.PriorityQueue; import java.util.List; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.Collections; class Vertex implements Comparable<Vertex> { public final String name; public Edge[] adjacencies; public double minDistance = Double.POSITIVE_INFINITY; public Vertex previous; public Vertex(String argName) { name = argName; } public String toString() { return name; } public int compareTo(Vertex other) { return Double.compare(minDistance, other.minDistance); } } class Edge { public final Vertex target; public final double weight; public Edge(Vertex argTarget, double argWeight) { target = argTarget; weight = argWeight; } } public class Dijkstra { public static void computePaths(Vertex source) { source.minDistance = 0.; PriorityQueue<Vertex> vertexQueue = new PriorityQueue<Vertex>(); vertexQueue.add(source); while (!vertexQueue.isEmpty()) { Vertex u = vertexQueue.poll(); // Visit each edge exiting u for (Edge e : u.adjacencies) { Vertex v = e.target; double weight = e.weight; double distanceThroughU = u.minDistance + weight; if (distanceThroughU < v.minDistance) { vertexQueue.remove(v); v.minDistance = distanceThroughU ; v.previous = u; vertexQueue.add(v); } } } } public static List<Vertex> getShortestPathTo(Vertex target) { List<Vertex> path = new ArrayList<Vertex>(); for (Vertex vertex = target; vertex != null; vertex = vertex.previous) path.add(vertex); Collections.reverse(path); return path; } public static void main(String[] args) { Vertex v0 = new Vertex("Nottinghill_Gate"); Vertex v1 = new Vertex("High_Street_kensignton"); Vertex v2 = new Vertex("Glouchester_Road"); Vertex v3 = new Vertex("South_Kensignton"); Vertex v4 = new Vertex("Sloane_Square"); Vertex v5 = new Vertex("Victoria"); Vertex v6 = new Vertex("Westminster"); v0.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v1, 79.83), new Edge(v6, 97.24)}; v1.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v2, 39.42), new Edge(v0, 79.83)}; v2.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v3, 38.65), new Edge(v1, 39.42)}; v3.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v4, 102.53), new Edge(v2, 38.65)}; v4.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v5, 133.04), new Edge(v3, 102.53)}; v5.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v6, 81.77), new Edge(v4, 133.04)}; v6.adjacencies = new Edge[]{new Edge(v0, 97.24), new Edge(v5, 81.77)}; Vertex[] vertices = { v0, v1, v2, v3, v4, v5, v6 }; computePaths(v0); for (Vertex v : vertices) { System.out.println("Distance to " + v + ": " + v.minDistance); List<Vertex> path = getShortestPathTo(v); System.out.println("Path: " + path); } } } and the code for scanning file is import java.util.Scanner; import java.io.File; import java.io.FileNotFoundException; public class DataScanner1 { //private int total = 0; //private int distance = 0; private String vector; private String stations; private double [] Edge = new double []; /*public int getTotal(){ return total; } */ /* public void getMenuInput(){ KeyboardInput in = new KeyboardInput; System.out.println("Enter the destination?   • Integrating MarkitUp and MarkdownSharp with asp.net forms website

    - by N00b
Hi, I'm using markdownsharp with my asp.net forms website. I want to use MarkItUp as my editor and have found a straight forward article on how to integrate with MVC which seems straight forward enough: http://rsolberg.com/2010/09/asp-net-mvc-markitup-rich-text-editor/ However, how do I do this with a forms website? How do I get the MarkItDown Textarea on a postback and get the preview to work as well?

  • Sequence reduction in R

    - by drknexus
Assume you have a vector like so: v <- c(1,1,1,2,2,2,2,1,1,3,3,3,3) How can it be best reduced to a data.frame like this? v.df <- data.frame(value=c(1,2,1,3),repetitions=c(3,4,2,4)) In a procedural language I might just iterate through a loop and build the data.frame as I go, but with a large dataset in R such an approach is inefficient. Any advice?

  • [C++] Index strings by other strings

    - by mcco
Hello, I need to index specific strings with other strings and I can't really find a good way to do so. I tried to use tr1::unordered_map, but I'm having some difficulties using it. If someone could tell me what is the best way to do that I'd be really grateful :) I also need to index objects by a number (numbers are not in order so I can't use a vector)

Hello, I'm using a rich text editor in my asp.net mvc form (nicedit with a textarea) and when I submit the form on post, because it is not html encoded I get the following message: "A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the client" . How can I html encode the textarea on post ? I don't want to cancel the validation. Is there a way to use the html.encode helper on submit? Thank you.

  • MATLAB: vectorized array creation from a list of start/end indices

    - by merv
    I have a two-column matrix M that contains the start/end indices of a bunch of intervals: startInd EndInd 1 3 6 10 12 12 15 16 How can I generate a vector of all the interval indices: v = [1 2 3 6 7 8 9 10 12 15 16]; I'm doing the above using loops, but I'm wondering if there's a more elegant vectorized solution? v = []; for i=1:size(M,1) v = [v M(i,1):M(i,2)]; end

  • Converting .eps to .jpg

    - by Slinky
Our print team saves raster images as .eps files. We need to convert about 11000 .eps to .jpg. We are using ImageMagick (with Ghostprint) on Linux. The conversion occurs but the resulting .jpg is not the same size as the source .eps - It's about 1/2 the size. Probably a problem converting a vector to a raster. Any way to solve this?

  • AutoScroll issues with custom layout on Windows Forms application

    - by Lurker Indeed
I've implemented a basic custom layout engine in Windows Forms that does control sizing and positioning. I was hoping to allow the AutoScroll features to work untouched, but any time I have enough controls on the screen to require a scroll bar, some of the layout events that get fired (i.e, a rich text box that expands the height as it types) not only fire the layout events, but they force the scroll bar back at (0,0). Do I have any options besides looking at the scroll position and positioning the controls manually based on that?

  • How to fit the paper-size to the content in LaTeX

    - by mef
Hi, I'd like to create a pdf/ps/eps that contains only one single formula. I thought the easiest way would be to use latex. Unfortunately, I found no option to specify, that the paper-size should automatically be set to fit the contents. I found that dvipng has a "-T tight" option, that actually does the trick, but... I want it in vector-graphics format. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Clojure Protocols vs Scala Structural Types

    - by Vasil Remeniuk
After watching the interview with Rich Hickey on Protocols in Clojure 1.2, and knowing very little about Clojure, I have some questions on Clojure Protocols: Are they intended to do the same thing as Structural Types in Scala? What benefits do Protocols have over Structural Types (performance, flexibility, code clarity, etc.)? Are they implemented through reflections? Questions on interoperability with Scala: Can Protocols be used instead of Structural Types in Scala? Can they be extended (if 'extension' term can be applied to Protocols) in Scala?

  • j2me MIDP: detecting if phone has a data plan

    - by SB
Is there a way to determine what kind of data plan a device has so an app provides a less rich experience if a data plan is not available? I imagine the connector factory would still be able to return me an HTTPConnection but it would cost the user serious money for lots of data, and I'd like to be nice and prevent that. I thought there would be a way to query device capabilities in the MIDP API, but maybe it's in CLDC?

  • I need help with this ogre dependent header (Qgears)

    - by commodore
I'm 2 errors away from compiling Qgears. (Hacked Version of the Final Fantasy VII Engine) I've messed with the preprocessors to load the actual location of the ogre header files. Here are the errors: ||=== qgears, Debug ===| /home/cj/Desktop/qgears/trunk/project/linux/src/core/TextManager.h|48|error: invalid use of ‘::’| /home/cj/Desktop/qgears/trunk/project/linux/src/core/TextManager.h|48|error: expected ‘;’ before ‘m_LanguageRoot’| ||=== Build finished: 2 errors, 0 warnings ===| Here's the header file: // $Id$ #ifndef TEXT_MANAGER_h #define TEXT_MANAGER_h #include <OGRE/OgreString.h> #include <OGRE/OgreUTFString.h> #include <map> struct TextData { TextData(): text(""), width(0), height(0) { } Ogre::String name; Ogre::UTFString text; int width; int height; }; typedef std::vector<TextData> TextDataVector; class TextManager { public: TextManager(void); virtual ~TextManager(void); void SetLanguageRoot(const Ogre::String& root); void LoadTexts(const Ogre::String& file_name); void UnloadTexts(const Ogre::String& file_name); const TextData GetText(const Ogre::String& name); private: struct TextBlock { Ogre::String block_name; std::vector<TextData> text; } Ogre::String m_LanguageRoot; // Line #48 std::list<TextBlock> m_Texts; }; extern TextManager* g_TextManager; #endif // TEXT_MANAGER_h The only header file that's in include that's not a ogre header file is "map". If it helps, I'm using the Code::Blocks IDE/GCC Compiler in GNU/Linux. (Arch) I'm not sure even if I get this header fixed, I think I'll have build errors latter, but it's worth a shot. Edit: I added the semicolon and I have one more error in the header file: error: expected unqualified-id before ‘{’ token

  • How do you set the sitemap priority for flatpages in django?

    - by mlissner
I have a site with about 60,000 pages that are getting placed in the sitemap, and which have a priority of 0.3. These are all really long pages that are rich in keywords. I also have a few pages (like the about page), that need high priority, but which I've implemented with the django flatpages framework. Is it possible for pages created this way to have a higher priority in the sitemap?

  • Using QT to build a WYSIWYG Editor for a Custom Markup Language

    - by Aaron
I'm new to QT, and am trying to figure out the best means of creating a WYSIWYG editor widget for a custom markup language that displays simple text, images, and links. I need to be able to propagate changes from the WYSIWYG editor to the custom markup representation. As a concrete example of the problem domain, imagine that the custom markup might have a "player" tag which contains a player name and a team name. The markup could look like this: Last week, <player id="1234"><name>Aaron Rodgers</name><team>Packers</team></player> threw a pass. This text would display in the editor as: Last week, Aaron Rodgers of the Packers threw a pass. The player name and the team name would be editable directly within the editor in standard WYSIWYG fashion, so that my users do not have to learn any markup. Also, when the player name is moused-over, a details pop-up will appear about that player, and similarly for the team. With that long introduction, I'm trying to figure out where to start with QT. It seems that the most logical option would be the Rich Text API using a QTextDocument. This approach seems less than ideal given the limitations of a QTextDocument: I can't figure out how to capture navigation events from clicking on links. Following links on click seems to only be enabled when the QTextEdit is readonly. Custom objects that implement QTextObjectInterface are ignored in copy-and-paste operations Any HTML-based markup that is passed to it as Rich Text is retranslated into a series of span tags and lots of other junk, making it extremely difficult to propagate changes from the editor back to the original custom markup. A second option appears to be QWebKit, which allows for live editing of HTML5 markup, so I could specify a two-way translation between the custom markup and HTML5. I'm not clear on how one would propagate changes from the editor back to the original markup in real-time without re-translating the entire document on every text change. The QWebKit solutions looks like awfully bulky to me (Learning WebKit along with QT) to what should be a relatively simple problem. I have also considered implementing the WYSIWYG with a custom class using native QT containers, labels, images, and other widgets manually. This seems like the most flexible approach, and the one most likely not to run into unresolvable problems. However, I'm pretty sure that implementing all the details of a normal text editor (selecting text, font changes, cut-and-paste support, undo/redo, dragging of objects, cursor placement, etc.) will be incredibly time consuming. So, finally, my question: are there any QT gurus out there with some advice on where to start with this sort of project? BTW, I am using QT because the application is a desktop application that needs platform independence.

  • Do any JS implementations currently support (or have support on the roadmap for) fast, vectorized op

    - by agnoster
I'd like to do a bit of matrix/vector arithmetic in JavaScript, and was wondering if any browsers or other JS implementations actually have support for vectorized operations, for instance for quickly summing the entries of two Arrays (or summing, or whatever). Even if that currently doesn't mean it compiles down to vectorized operations, at least some language support would be nice for when it does get implemented - I'd take the existence of functions or syntax to support it as a step in the right direction. (Understandably, "vectorization javascript" searches are pretty much all about graphics and SVG.)
