  • Pointing a domain to a subscription based web-app?

    - by jefff
Hello everyone, I'm about to start building a subscription based website that will function much like 37signals offerings in terms of users paying a monthly fee to use the site. But in my case I would like for them to be able to use their own hosted domain names and have them point to my server. Is this possible? How do i link up the domain name with their account on my server? Thanks a mil!

  • Formula for popularity? (based on "like it", "comments", "views")

    - by paullb
I have some pages on a website and I have to create an ordering based on "popularity"/"activity" The parameters that I have to use are: views to the page comments made on the page (there is a form at the bottom where uses can make comments) clicks made to the "like it" icon Are there any standards for what a formula for popularity would be? (if not opinions are good too) (initially I thought of views + 10*comments + 10*likeit)

  • Is it possible to edit a sound file based on frequency???

    - by K-RAN
Just wondering if it's possible to go through a flac, mp3, wav, etc file and edit portions, or the entire file by removing sections based on a specific frequency range? So for example, I have a recording of a friend reciting a poem with a few percussion instruments in the background. Could I write a C program that goes through the entire file and cuts out everything except the vocals (human voice frequency ranges from 85-255 Hz, from what I've been reading)? Thanks in advance for any ideas!

  • Are there any simple, stupid, module based, cross-platform, c++ projects that I can check out of a r

    - by leeand00
I'm looking for one just to get a general idea of how a standard C++ project should be properly setup. (If that's possible... :-p) Here are my requirements for this project: module-based (has libraries/modules that compile into a main program module) compiles cross-platform I'd like to do this so that I can get a hold on the basics of how a good C++ project is setup, and so that I can test out Premake.

  • Free ASP.Net (MVC/WebForms) based CMS which has plugins built in for connecting to Orkut and Faceboo

    - by SharePoint Newbie
I looking for free ASP.NET based content management system (CMS) which has the following features: Blogs (Admin, some super users can have their own blogs) Forums (Admins can create forums. Some moderation features) Admin Dashboard Integration with LinkedIn, Orkut and Facebook (native or through freely available add-ons) Support for moderated user registration (moderated by Admin) Windows Sharepoint services 3.0 is an option. With some tweaking, it supports all the above and there are free third party web parts available. NB: The CMS listed must be free, as in beer.

  • How can I construct this file tree based on what files the user is allowed to view?

    - by robert
I have an array of files that looks like this: Array ( [0] => Array ( [type] => folder [path] => RootFolder ) [1] => Array ( [type] => file [path] => RootFolder\error.log ) [2] => Array ( [type] => folder [path] => RootFolder\test ) [3] => Array ( [type] => file [path] => RootFolder\test\asd.txt ) [4] => Array ( [type] => folder [path] => RootFolder\test\sd ) [5] => Array ( [type] => file [path] => RootFolder\test\sd\testing.txt ) ) I parse this array and create a tree like view based on the depth of the files ('/' count). It looks like this: RootFolder - error.log - test - asd.txt - sd - testing.txt What I have now is an array of filepaths the user is allowed to view. I need to take this array into account when constructing the above tree. That array looks like this: Array ( [0] => Array ( [filePath] => RootFolder\test\sd ) [1] => Array ( [filePath] => RootFolder\error.log ) ) It would be easy to do a if in_array($path, $allowed) but that won't give me the tree. Just a list of files... Another part I'm stumped on is this requirement: If the user has access to view the folder test, they then have access to all children of that folder. My idea was to simply parse the filepaths. For example, I'd confirm that RootFolder\test\sd was a directory and then create a tree based on the '/' count. Like I was doing earlier. Then, since this is a directory, I'd pull out all files within this directory and show them to the user. However, I'm having trouble converting this to working code... Any ideas?

  • How can I setup a flexible local web development environment I can easily sync with a production, Amazon AWS based environment?

    - by user607057
I'm running on an OS X environment and would like to create a flexible web development environment locally... including the option to run on an Nginx server for my PHP-based application. At the end of the day (or, development cycle), I'd like to be able to hit a switch and have it all sync over to Amazon AWS hosting (EC2, S3) - instances, databases, files, configurations, and all. Are there any simple ways to do this?

  • When using SELECT can you modify the value of a returned field based on other fields?

    - by user570759
When using MySQL SELECT can you change the value of a returned field based on other fields? For example, if I have this select: SELECT city, state, country FROM table Now if city is empty AND state is empty, I want the value of country to returned empty as well (whether country actually has a value or not). Example table: id | city | state | country ----------------------------- 1 | Here | There | MyCountry 2 | | | YourCountry So with the above table, I want the results for id=1 to return Here,There,MyCountry but the results for id=2 should be empty, empty, empty Thanks

  • Get gprof to profile based on wall-clock time?

    - by jetwolf
My understanding is that by default gprof takes into account CPU time. Is there a way to get it to profile based on wall-clock time? My program does a lot of disk i/o, so the CPU time it uses only represents a fraction of the actual execution time. I need to know which portions of the disk i/o take up the most time.
