• Exclude subexpression from regex in c++

  Suppose I was trying to match the following expression using regex.h in C++, and trying to obtain the subexpressions contained: /^((1|2)|3) (1|2)$/ Suppose it were matched against the string "3 1", the subexpressions would be: "3 1" "3" "1" If, instead it were matched against the string "2 1", the subexpressions would be: "2 1" "2" "2" "1" Which means that, depending on how the first subexpression evaluates, the final one is in a different element in the pmatch array. I realise this particular example is trivial, as I could remove one of the sets of brackets, or grab the last element of the array, but it becomes problematic in more complicated expressions. Suppose all I want are the top-level subexpressions, the ones which aren't subexpressions of other subexpressions. Is there any way to only get them? Or, alternatively, to know how many subexpressions are matched within a subexpression, so that I can traverse the array irrespective of how it evaluates? Thanks

If this were a variable, I'd simple make it a class variable, but Android does not allow you to define View object in the class. Any suggestions on how to do this?

• Alert Box Running First?

  I have some jQuery/JS below. If I run this the alert will show, and then the first animate will happen in the background but not be shown. It will just appear at the final size. Shouldn't the alert run at the end of all the animation? Can anyone explain why this is happening?

  Hi, I am developing a music mixing app in iphone. It'll mix the music and user can compose a new music from it. I need to record this final music. I had used AVAudiorecorder to record this one. But no change. It can record sound from microphone but I need to record app sound. I had used audio queue call back function to record the audio. But when app runs I can hear the audio from my app and I couldn't hear any sound from recorded audio. There is no problem with recording since I can hear the audio recorded through microphone. But I need an offline recorder which can record the audio output of iphone, rather than the audio input through microphone. I need a recorder which can record audio using ipod touch (no microphone). Any help?

  hey guys, i've a problem with progress dialog on opening an activity (called activity 2 in example). The activity 2 has a lot of code to execute in this OnCreate event. final ProgressDialog myProgressDialog = ProgressDialog.show(MyApp.this,getString(R.string.lstAppWait), getString(R.string.lstAppLoading), true); new Thread() { public void run() { runOnUiThread(new Runnable() { @Override public void run() { showApps(); } }); myProgressDialog.dismiss(); } }.start(); The showApps function launch activity 2. if i execute this code on my button click event on activity 1, i see the progress, but she doesn't move and afeter i have a black screen during 2 or 3 seconds the time for android to show the activity. If i execute this code in the OnCreate of Activity2 and if i replace the showApps by the code on OnCreate, Activity1 freeze 2 seconds, i don't see the progress dialog, and freeze again 2 seconds on activity 2 before seeing the result. An idea ?

  Hi! I have a "super entity" SuperEntity and three entities ChildEntity1, ..., ChildEntity3 which extends the super class. It's easy to search for all entities in the database, i.e. we could use session.createCriteria(SuperEntity.class); It's no problem to search for one specific entity type, too, just replace the SuperEntity with any of the children to look for entities of that type. But I have a problem when allowing 'multiple choice' for the types. I.e., it could be neccessary to search all entities of type 1 and 2, but not of type 3. A first idea was to create two independent queries and join the results in a final list - but that would destroy the paging which uses offset and limit functionality of the database...   Hi, I have a header file with a few common constants like names and stuff that are automatically included in each project (an example follows). The thing is that they are included in the compiled binary (EXE) whether they are used (referenced) or not. If I use DEFINEs instead, then naturally they are not included if they are not used, but of course consts are better than defines so… I tried Googling it, but the closest thing I could find was a question right here on SO that did not quite help. Matters of i18n aside, how can I keep the ones that are not used out of the binary, while still keeping it easy to use like this? • [Android] How to launch an Activity without a UI?

  Is it in any way possible to launch an activity from the main function without having a UI? i.e. is there a way to create a sort of "wrapper" around another activity, i.e. by launching the main activity, it takes you to another activity automatically. If that is not possible, is there a way to remove the main activity from the stack so that clicking the back button does not take you to a blank UI? • Prototype setStyle not working in IE6.

  Hi, I'm using prototype and setStyle in IE6 is just messing everything up. It's throwing a big error. I've Googled it but cant find a solution.   Hi, Lets say I am user: bob & group: users. There is this file: -rw----r-- 1 root users 4 May 8 22:34 testfile First question, why can't bob read the file as it's readable by others? Is it simply that if you are denied by group, then you are auto-blacklisted for others? I always assumed that the final 3 bits too precedence over user/group permission bits, guess I was wrong... Second question, how is this implemented? I suppose it's linked to the first query, but how does this work in relation to Access Control, is it related to how ACLs work / are queried? Just trying to understand how these 9 permission bits are actually implemented/used in Linux. Thanks alot.

  I'm trying to get the hang of using custom session handlers to store session data in a MySQL database. However, I keep getting the following warning: mysql_close(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource Here's the code I'm using, which I got from here: function _open(){ global $_sess_db; $_sess_db = mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "******"); if ($_sess_db) { return mysql_select_db('style', $_sess_db); } return false; } function _close(){ global $_sess_db; return mysql_close($_sess_db); //error happens here } The full text of the error message ultimately points to the final "return mysql_close($_sess_db);" line. I can confirm that the mysql_connect info does in fact work, and I do have the rest of the session handler functions defined as well. And in case it helps, I get these errors immediately upon page load, without actually calling any of the session handler functions, and without having any current sessions open.

  I have seen that you can write your application in Qt, and can be run in different operating systems. And - correct me if I'm wrong - you don't need to have Qt installed in all of these plataforms. How does exactly this works? Does Qt compiles to the desired plataform, it bundles some "dlls" (libs), how? Is different from programming a Java application for the sake of cross-plataform? If you use Python to write a Qt application with Python bindings, does the final user needs to have Python installed?

• Are instance initializers good or bad?

  I personally quite like instance initializers - I use them to assign default values to things such as collections so when writing constructors I don't have to remember to assign them the same default values each time. It seems quite elegant to me - avoids annoying NPE's popping up and avoids duplicate code. A private method doesn't seem as nice because a) it can't assign values to final fields, b) it could be run elsewhere in code and c) the method still needs to be explicitly called at the start of each constructor. However, the flip side with others I have spoken to is that they're confusing, some people reading the code might not understand what they do or when they're called and thus they could cause more problems than they solve. Are proper use of these initializers something to be encouraged or avoided? Or is it an "each to their own" case?

  I have an ObjectManager class that is used to process payments. It is wrapped over the Order entities, so new instance has to be created when processing is required. I need to prevent the situation when several ObjectManager instances are dealing with the same order simultaneously (it happend once because of some errors on the remote payment processing center, somehow they called our callback urls twice). I'd love to get an advice how to implement it more efficiently. • Complex SQL queries (DELETE)?

  Hello all, I'm working with three tables, and for simplicity's sake let's call them table A, B, and C. Both tables A and B have a column called id, as well as one other column, Aattribute and Battribute, respectively. Column c also has an id column, and two other columns which hold values for A.id and B.id. Now, in my code, I have easy access to values for both Aattribute and Battribute, and want to delete the row at C, so effectively I want to do something like this: DELETE FROM C WHERE aid=(SELECT id FROM A WHERE Aattribute='myvalue') AND bid=(SELECT id FROM B WHERE Battribute='myothervalue') But this obviously doesn't work. Is there any way to make a single complex query, or do I have to run three queries, where I first get the value of A.id using a SELECT with 'myvalue', then the same for B.id, then use those in the final query? [Edit: it's not letting me comment, so in response to the first comment on this: I tried the above query and it did not work, I figured it just wasn't syntactically correct. Using MS Access, for what it's worth. ]

  My instance was running fine and this morning I was able to access a Ruby on Rails app hosted on it. An hour later I suddenly wasn't able to access my site, my SSH connection attempts were refused and the server wasn't even responding to ping. I didn't change anything on my system during that hour and reboots aren't fixing it. I've never had any problems connecting or pinging the system before. Can someone please help?
