  • Font Rendering between Mozilla and webkit

    I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the recent Safari update, but I'm beginning to notice this a lot. There is a drastic difference in the way each browser is rendering fonts. for instance, I took screenshots of what I am seeing here on stackoverflow... http://twitpic.com/q43eh I have verified that this is a trend via my co-workers machines. has anyone noticed this or have any thoughts on non-hack solutions?

  • Ruby Doesn't Recognize Alias Method

    I'm trying to debug someone else's code and having trouble figuring out what's wrong. When I run rake, one of the errors I get is: 2) Error: test_math(TestRubyUnits): NoMethodError: undefined method `unit_sin' for CMath:Module /home/user/ruby-units/lib/ruby_units/math.rb:21:in `sin' This is the function that calls the method: assert_equal Math.sin(pi), Math.sin("180 deg".unit) And this is what the class looks like: module Math alias unit_sin sin def sin(n) Unit === n ? unit_sin(n.to('radian').scalar) : unit_sin(n) end alias unit_cos cos def cos(n) Unit === n ? unit_cos(n.to('radian').scalar) : unit_cos(n) end ... module_function :unit_sin module_function :sin module_function :unit_cos module_function :cos ... end (The ellipsis means "more of the same"). As far as I can see, this is valid Ruby code. Is there something I'm missing here that's causing the error, or could the error be coming from something else? Update: I'm wondering if the problem has to do with namespaces. This code is attempting to extend CMath, so perhaps the alias and/or module_function isn't actually getting into CMath, or something like that....

    I need to implement a bi-directional communication between Microsoft Dynamics CRM and a 3rd party server. The ideal scenario is as follows: User tries to create an entity in CRM In pre-create hook a 3rd party library function is called (or web service or whatever), filled with relevant info, which tries to create the respective entity on the server If the call fails, creation fails in CRM If the call succeeds, the entity is created in the CRM AND additional fields are filled with return values from the call More specifically, I want to do something like this when user tries to create a new entity instance: try { ExternalWebService.CreateTrade(ref TradeInfo info) //this was initialized on the external server myCRM_Trade_Entity.SerialNo = info.SerialNo; CreateNew(myCRM_Trade_Entity); } catch (whatever) { fail; } What would be the suggested way to do this? I am new to Dynamics, have read about Workflows and Plugins but am not sure how should I do this properly.

    I am trying to send JSON from my mozilla addon to my asp.net page. var myJSONObject = {"userName": una,"password": pass}; request = new XMLHttpRequest(); request.open("GET",http://www.google.com/jo=" + myJSONObject,true, null, null); on my .net page I have tried several ways of doing it but not able to find the best way to serialize and deserialize the code. All I need is to send the json data back n forth and parse it on C# n javascript. I am new to all this so any guidance and/or change in direction is appreciated.

  • How to use Firebug's debugger functions?

    I don't have an experience with any debugger in any language, but I recently found some videos showing Firebug. I'm now playing with Firebug with a script I included an error with. What I understand now is: I can set a breakpoint, which is shown as a red circle. Firebug stops at the breakpoint and gives me 4 options (Continue, Step Into, Step Over and Step Out). What I don't understand are: What is the difference between the 4 options (i.e., Continue, Step Into, Step Over and Step Out)? To me, Step Over is sometimes similar to Step Into... I could be wrong here. I would be grateful if you could explain the differences of the 4 options.

I couldn't find such attribute for radio element in context of XUL. So I guess it's some custom attribute? If it is, then how it is evolving through the lines, first declaration, then several assignments? It has also selected, which means can have multiple custom attributes? How can those attributes be used later?

  • How to get visual studio 10 to open .mk files in the same instance?

    I've recently been migrated to windows 7, and upon re-installing VS2010, it seems to want to treat .mk files differently than it used to. For whatever reason, it insists on opening a new instance of visual studio to edit these files. It doesn't for .c, .h, etc. I've tried using types, a freeware association manager, to change how it is associated. I've deleted the association, recreated, etc. but it still seems to want to treat these separately. Anybody know how to beat this thing into submission?

    TL;DR version: What do you use for configurable (and preferably captured) logging inside your C++ bits in a Python project? Details follow. Say you have a a few compiled .so modules that may need to do some error checking and warn user of (partially) incorrect data. Currently I'm having a pretty simplistic setup where I'm using logging framework from Python code and log4cxx library from C/C++. log4cxx log level is defined in a file (log4cxx.properties) and is currently fixed and I'm thinking how to make it more flexible. Couple of choices that I see: One way to control it would be to have a module-wide configuration call. # foo/__init__.py import sys from _foo import import bar, baz, configure_log configure_log(sys.stdout, WARNING) # tests/test_foo.py def test_foo(): # Maybe a custom context to change the logfile for # the module and restore it at the end. with CaptureLog(foo) as log: assert foo.bar() == 5 assert log.read() == "124.24 - foo - INFO - Bar returning 5" Have every compiled function that does logging accept optional log parameters. # foo.c int bar(PyObject* x, PyObject* logfile, PyObject* loglevel) { LoggerPtr logger = default_logger("foo"); if (logfile != Py_None) logger = file_logger(logfile, loglevel); ... } # tests/test_foo.py def test_foo(): with TemporaryFile() as logfile: assert foo.bar(logfile=logfile, loglevel=DEBUG) == 5 assert logfile.read() == "124.24 - foo - INFO - Bar returning 5" Some other way? Second one seems to be somewhat cleaner, but it requires function signature alteration (or using kwargs and parsing them).   • Swapping an image during web development

    I'm trying to see what a certain webpage would look like if I replaced a certain image with another. Rather than upload the image, edit the site, etc, each time I tweak it, I'd like to know if there's a way to change the image in the page to my local version while viewing the remote page. I use Firebug for debugging web development usually, but I'm open to any other tool that might do this. (It is absolutely impossible to search for this and find anything but questions about dynamic image swapping on a deployed website, so sorry if this is a duplicate.)

  • Stopping infinite loops of alerts in Mozilla

    This may be dumb question. But somehow this engaged me for sometime and after some basic research I couldn't find an answer. I was learning JavaScript and a code I wrote had an error and has been outputting infinite loops of alerts. I tried the normal shortcuts like Ctrl + C and Ctrl + Z but they didn't work. So I was thinking if there is any solution to this other than ending the browser process (like by doing a Ctrl + Alt + Del).
