  I am developing an app using PHP and deploying it on Apache on the Amazon AWS environment. This app requires to be made available to customers from their own chosen domain name? How can i acheive this? For example www.customer1.com = /var/www/myapp.mydomain.com www.customer2.com = /var/www/myapp.mydomain.com I would like to do this similar to how bitly enables shortened url's for custom domains. www.myshrturl.com is dns configured to a CNAME - cname.bitly.com Appreciate if someone could help me acheive this functionality. If there are any other details required, please let me know, I shall update the same.

• How to enable customers to use their own domain for sites hosted by me

  I am thinking of running a self-site builder. But was wondering how would I allow customers to use their own domains that they already own. Is that even possible? Let's say my site is www.bestsitebuildingwebsite.com and each customer has urls like this www.bestsitebuildingwebsite.com/frances www.bestsitebuildingwebsite.com/eden www.bestsitebuildingwebsite.com/john And a customer has a domain called widgets.com Is it actually possible domain widgets.com to go to my site somehow and have HASHES on the URL still work (my site makes use of hashes for AJAX queries). • Changing swappiness in sysctl.conf doesn't work for me

  I'm using 12.04 LTS and can sudo sysctl to set swappiness to 10, but adding vm.swappiness=10 to sysctl.conf doesn't work for me - after I reboot, swappiness still reports 60 (default) I'd like to be able to reduce swaps to my SSD, but can't find a way to do so except manually per session. Modifying sysctl.conf seems to work for most - can anyone advise what I need to check / change to make it work for me too, please?

• Empirical evidence for choice of programming paradigm to address a problem

  The C2 wiki has a discussion of Empirical Evidence for Object-Oriented Programming that basically concludes there is none beyond appeal to authority. This was last edited in 2008. Discussion here seems to bear this out: questions on whether OO is outdated, when functional programming is a bad choice and the advantages and disadvantages of AOP are all answered with contributors' opinions without reliance on evidence. Of course, opinions of established and reputed practitioners are welcome and valuable things to have, but they're more plausible when they're consistent with experimental data. Does this evidence exist? Is evidence-based software engineering a thing? Specifically, if I have a particular problem P that I want to solve by writing software, does there exist a body of knowledge, studies and research that would let me see how the outcome of solving problems like P has depended on the choice of programming paradigm? I know that which paradigm comes out as "the right answer" can depend on what metrics a particular study pays attention to, on what conditions the study holds constant or varies, and doubtless on other factors too. That doesn't affect my desire to find this information and critically appraise it. It becomes clear that some people think I'm looking for a "turn the crank" solution - some sausage machine into which I put information about my problem and out of which comes a word like "functional" or "structured". This is not my intention. What I'm looking for is research into how - with a lot of caveats and assumptions that I'm not going into here but good literature on the matter would - certain properties of software vary depending on the problem and the choice of paradigm. In other words: some people say "OO gives better flexibility" or "functional programs have fewer bugs" - (part of) what I'm asking for is the evidence of this. The rest is asking for evidence against this, or the assumptions under which these statements are true, or evidence showing that these considerations aren't important. There are plenty of opinions on why one paradigm is better than another; is there anything objective behind any of these?

  When users enter my website example.com, their "preferred" language is detected and they are redirected (using a 301 Moved Permanently redirection) to example.com/en/ (for english), example.com/it/ (for italian), etc. It works perfectly, but when I analized my website with the Google Page Speed tool it gave me the following advice. Many pages, especially mobile pages, redirect users to a different URL, for instance from www.example.com to m.example.com. Making this redirect cacheable by the user's browser can speed up page load times for repeat visitors to a site. And later it says We recommend using a 302 redirect with a cache lifetime of one day. The redirect should include a Vary: User-Agent header as well as a Cache-Control: private header. So my questions are, how can I do a "cacheable" redirection in PHP? I want to buy the domain for both blogs so that they will become http://chankeypathak.com/ and http://javaenthusiastic.com/ I will follow all the procedures that Blogger suggests so that all the visitors to http://chankeypathak.blogspot.com will be redirected to http://chankeypathak.com/ and same for the java's blog. • Need a PCIe desktop graphics card for dual-monitor

  I have a mid-2008 workstation with two HD monitors supporting HDMI and DVI inputs. Since Ubuntu 11.10, I have experienced no end of trouble with my NVidia Quadro NVS 290 in TwinView dual-monitor output. Others have similar desktop TwinView woes. I want a new graphics card. Previously I asked for a graphics card recommendation and response was Nvidia Geforce GTS 450... but really I'm looking for someone who has actually got a working dual-monitor desktop to tell me what card they use so I can get something that is known to work. So please, people who have no-issues with their 64-bit Ubuntu 12.04 Unity 3D desktop spread across two HD-resolution external monitors (either DVI or HDMI connector), and who also run Google Chrome (which throws a spanner due to its own GPU compositing)... please let me know what graphics card you have so I can buy one. Gathering Options These seem to be the Nvidia cards featuring dual DVI. But they all seem to be gaming cards - what has dual-DVI, good support, but is not a massive gaming card? I bought site.com on company that is using their own nameservers - ns.a.com. And linked website to their own servers. I bought hosting on another company that is using nameservers - ns.b.com. Should I just change ns.a.com on my DOMAIN to ns.b.com? Or should I link all DNS entries on my domain control panel to host ip addresses?

• OSX Server 3, Mac clients binding to OD and Profile Manager failing

  I've made a setup containing a Mac Mini with OSX Server 3 (Mavericks 10.9.2) using Open Directory and Profile Manager (Mail, etc all set up and working). Now the thing is, internally on the local network, everything works great. Clients can bind to the OD and the users are able to login. I can install trust and settings profiles (either custom or group profiles) and all services in the profiles mentioned are being configured correctly. I can log in and out, hump around and do it a 100 times on different macs with different users, it works. My goal is to make this service publicly. The domain is with a FQDN which I own, for simplicity let's say server.domain.com. Now the only way for me to bind the clients to the OD is using LDAP mapping RCF2307 (without SSL) and a DN suffix of dc=server,dc=domain,dc=com using the Directory Utility. The options from server, or open directory will throw several errors like Connection failed to node '/LDAPv3/server.domain.com (2100). First of all I don't really understand the problem why clients can't bind to the OD like it does locally, with and without SSL (all ports are open, literally all ports are open, not just 389,636 and 1640, wasn't sure if I was missing any). When the clients are using LDAP mapping RFC2307 to bind (without SSL only), clients are able to authenticate, login and even load the Trust profile. But every Settings profile will fail with a Debug Message: Unable to find GUID in user record OD or fail to install saying missing user identification. Is there any way to get this to work without RFC2307? Because there is quite some stuff missing when using RFC2307 and not pull the mapping from the server or use open directory. Is this setup even possible? Or should I use VPN to authenticate with the OD? The network setup is a Modem/Router (DHCP off) with WAN NATted to an Airport Extreme (Using DHCP+NAT). The AE does notify with a double NAT message but I haven't had any problems with it on any other service. So WAN - 192.168.2.220 (static), AE - 10.0.1.* (dhcp) Output of DIG from the outside using dig server.domain.com ;; flags: qr rd ra; QUERY: 1, ANSWER: 1, AUTHORITY: 0, ADDITIONAL: 0 ;; QUESTION SECTION: ;server.domain.com. IN A ;; ANSWER SECTION: server.domain.com. 10800 IN A 10.0.1.11 ;; AUTHORITY SECTION: server.domain.com. 10800 IN NS domain.com. (used for email send in relay) server.domain.com. 10800 IN NS server.domain.com. ;; SERVER 10.0.1.11#53(10.0.1.11) Are there any things I should check? Only have OSX. -- double NAT issue, plugged in the server directly on the Modem/Router with a static IP and issue remains. Guess that rules out the double NAT thing. -- changeip -checkhostname comes with There is nothing to change, e.g. success. Primary address = 10.0.1.11 Current HostName = server.domain.com DNS HostName = server.domain.com For now, I've made a workaround by using an admin account that forces a permanent VPN connection on boot. That means before it comes to the login, a connection is already made or underway. I will continue this post when I have more time, also locating all the necessary .log files of each application involved. I have some suspicions but have to debug a bit more when I have more time on my hands .. Unless, of course, I get sidetracked with having a life. Which is arguably not very likely. krypted.com

This topic, however, warrants a quick mention in the blog since I know it's been affecting many users recently. For customers using the Client/Server Deployment of AutoVue, users that had upgraded their client Java Runtime Environment (JRE) to version 1.6.0_19 or later suddenly noticed that their 3D files were opening blank in AutoVue. This issue was due to a change in JRE version 1.6.0_19, and the AutoVue team now offers a patch to address the issue in AutoVue version 20.0.0. The patch number is 10268316, is available through the My Oracle Support portal, and is described further in KM Note 1104821.1. We'll mention it again in our next Support newsletter, and the AutoVue team will target to roll the same fix into the next available release of the product.

  When you try to install MOSS 2007 on Windows 2008 R2, if you are using an installation media that is older than SP2, you would get the following error, saying that “This program is blocked due to compatibility issues”    All is not lost though, all you need to do is to slip stream the SP2 updates to the MOSS 2007 Setup. I have /etc/postfix/virtual in which i have entered.. @yahoo.com root And 1 more thing...i have user named "vinod" in the mail server...now when i address any mails to "vinod@vrk.com"...it works....but when i do "any-other@vrk.com"...it gives me error saying...this doesnt exist in the the server...but when i send mails to "any-other@any-other.com"...it sends the mails (though it goes into the mail.log as an error entry)...it atleast doesnt stop me from sending it...why is that??

  We have a global site, all hosted on one .com domain (www.website.com/en www.website.com/es www.website.com/pt www.website.com/ru etc) each language sub directory is identical to one another (apart from being in different languages) My question is, should I translate each meta keyword for each page or just use the english versions? e.g. English page about private jets : keyword "private jet" French version of exactly the same page : keyword "private jet" or "jet privé" If anyone knows whether language specific keywords carry any weight in search engines when the actual website is a .com and not a country specific domain, that would be really helpful! • Problem with homepage's SEO when using subfolders in a multi language website

  After watching a hundreds of threads about multilanguage website I haven't found an answer to my specific problem, so I think its not a common issue and I must have done something terribly wrong ;-) We have a brand.com website in DE main language and the following subfolders: /de/ = canonical of / + redirect to / /it/ /en/ When I crawl google.com for EN keywords or google.it for IT keywords then I get as results the homepage in German language (both title and description) as the top result with no trace of the /it/ or the /en/ homepage. Is this because /it/ and /en/ both needs a separate link building strategy? I've already configured Google webmaster tool into the following way: brand.com, no language preference brand.com/de/, de language brand.com/it/, it language brand.com/en/, en language Perhaps having "/" as DE main page is it wrong and I should use a different approach? i.e. like having "/" to be a 301 to /de/ instead ? Thanks in advance.

• Permanent redirect to different domain followed by temporary redirect to folder

  I have old-domain.com which I want to migrate to new-domain.com. However, the content on the old domain is, well, old. And I'm currently in the process of redesigning my whole site. My idea is to do a permanent (301) redirect from old-domain.com to new-domain.com so that search engines know about the new domain and forget about the old one. But since the content is old I was thinking to do a temporary (302) redirect from new-domain.com to new-domain.com/old/ until the new content/site is ready to be published. Is this, for some reason, a bad idea? Or there's nothing wrong with it? One last thing... If I go with this, what should I do when the new content is ready? Should I just remove the 302 redirect and that's it, or should I do something else to notify search engines that the temporary redirect is over?

• Apache 301 redirection from one domain to another

  I'm trying to set a redirection in my VirtualHost configuration for my website. So far I am able to redirect non www trafficto the www address like this : <VirtualHost: *:80> ServerAlias www.gcbeauce.com RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^guidedescommercesdebeauce\.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.guidedescommercesdebeauce.com$1 [R=301,L] But what I also want is to redirect the old domain to this new one. I have tried adding : RewriteEngine on RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^guidedescommercesdebeauce\.com$ [NC] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^gcbeauce\.com$ [NC] RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.guidedescommercesdebeauce.com$1 [R=301,L] But nothing happens. Am I missing something here?
