• Home folder only SFTP connection has limited access

  I have configured sftp access for user using this guide: Linux shell to restrict sftp users to their home directories? I have problem though. I have taken all steps. I have chown'ed root:user the home folder and I set permissions to 755. I can login normally using SFTP, however I can NOT transfer files, can NOT mkdir directories. If I change permissions to 777 it's ok do edit everything. However this is the thing I don't want. Additionally after exiting sftp and reconnecting then connection is reset by peer (due to setting 777). Anyone had similar problem? What I am doing wrong?

• Plesk 10 port 8443 connection timeout

  I've installed plesk 10 on centOS and after installing to access the cp you need to go https::8443 I'm not being able to, and would like to find out why i can ssh to the server and i can, from the server telnet, to those ports. from another machine i can ping it but when i try to telnet or go to that address i get connection timeout, happens with port 80 and 8443 from my netstat netstat -nlp | grep 8443 tcp 0 0 :::8443 :::* LISTEN 25205/sw-cp-serverd How do i find out whats causing the problem? I also have a router but firewall is at the minimum and the server configured as DMZ, also tried to redirect 8443 to 8443 of the server.

• Router loses connection to internet randomly

  I have a Belkin wireless G plus Mimo router and it randomly loses the connection to the internet. It seems to happen for a second or two, not enough to impact day to day browsing. But enough to disconnect games, or stall videos I am watching. It happens whether I am plugged into the router or connecting via wifi. I am unsure if it is my router or Comcast that is causing this issue. If I connect a computer directly to the modem the problem never occurs, so that tells me it is probably the router. But I also had a Netgear wireless router WGR614, and it had the same problem. I don't know where to start looking for the source of the problem. What logs should I be combing through? All my machines are win 7 of varying versions.

• Internet access using Edimax BR-6204WG as NIC

  My internet access at home is provided by Virgin Media via their superhub. I have a laptop with no NIC - however I do have a spare wireless router, the Edimax BR-6204WG, which I have been led to believe can be used to bridge wireless connections. Only problem is, I'm not sure how to go about doing this.   I have a D-Link DIR-615 router since around six months. My internet connection is VPN (PPTP) based, i.e. I have been given a username and password from my ISP and my IP address is dynamic. Since a few days I am experiencing a serious problem. My router connects normally (I can see the yellow light), but my computer is giving me a "DNS not responding" error. I have tried everything (reset, reboot etc.) but no success.

• Routing table change to access Internet over mifi

  I have two networks at home. One uses a Verizon mifi wireless on 192.168.1.1. The other uses a dlink router on 192.168.0.1. I have one laptop with two nics, one wireless and one not. The wireless nic connects to the mifi. The Ethernet nic connects to the dlink router. It's ip is 192.168.0.2. I also have a laptop with only one nic connected to the dlink on 192.168.0.3. I want to connect laptop 2 to the Internet. Can I do that by adding an entry to the routing table so that destination 0.0.0.0 routes to 192.168.0.2? If I do that, will laptop 1 "know" that it should route traffic from 192.168.0.3 to 192.168.1.1? Thanks for any assistance.

  I have a RubyOnRails application running on the same server that runs sendmail. The application sends out (no need to receive) emails via the local sendmail. Now I intend to move sendmail to a dedicated server. How do I make sendmail on that server accept connections from my application on the other server? I modified sendmail.mc from DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Family=inet, Name=MTA-v4, Port=smtp, Addr=127.0.0.1')dnl to DAEMON_OPTIONS(`Family=inet, Name=MTA-v4, Port=smtp')dnl I have also added to /etc/mail/access: Connect:198.211.117.41 RELAY then ran m4 sendmail.mc > sendmail.cf and restarted sendmail. Trying to connect from my app server with telnet on port 25 to the mail server gives me: telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused Am I missing something?

• ldirectord refusing connection when nginx redirects from http to https

  I am running ldirector as a load balancer to an nginx front end server. If I setup a redirect from http to https and connect directly to the nginx server, all is well. Connecting via ldirector causes my connection to be refused. I can connect normally via http or https through ldirector when I don't have the redirect in place. To add to my confusion, if my application issues a redirect from http to https, it works. I am testing this via curl on the command line. (curl: (7) couldn't connect to host vs a response) I am using the standard ldirectord config (http://www.ultramonkey.org/3/topologies/config/lb/non-fwmark/linux-director/ldirectord.cf) the http and https parts. My nginx config for the redirect is simply: location / { rewrite ^(.*) https://$host$1 permanent; }

• Windows Server 2008 SOMETIMES blocks connection to an FTP Site

  Hello Everyone Recently, our company has been having issue connecting to a special FTP server that we use offsite to upload small files. We can connect to the test server perfectly fine, but when we use the production ftp, it only randomly connects. If I plug my laptop directly into the modem and pull one of our other static IP addresses, I can connect just fine, but if I use our internal network, it is hit or miss. Also, turning OFF the firewall does NOT change the status of our connection problems. It will still time out. The weird issue is that it sometimes works, and when it does, it instantly asks for credentials and logs us on for that session, but if we disconnect and try again, it may or may not work. This also coincidentally occurred after uninstalling hamachi, and it blew away our internet settings on our Windows Server 2008 box, but everything else is working fine, and it was working fine before hamachi was installed.

The logs contain large amounts of this kind of entries, which makes the Event Viewer slow and it's difficult to find the more interesting logs. How do I make sure these messages don't end up in the event logs?

• Attach certificate to remote desktop connection - not gateway services

  I have a Windows server that I want to attach a 3rd party signed certificate for remote desktop connections. This is not a remote desktop services server, i.e. it is just remote desktop administration. There is lots of info on the internet about attaching a certificate to remote desktop services, but I want to attach mine to just plain remote desktop connection for administration purposes. If anyone know how to do this, please holler! I have imported the certificate into the Remote Desktop store in the certificates mmc snap in, and have tried running the wmic command in this question (Configure custom SSL certificate for RDP on Windows Server 2012 in Remote Administration mode?) but this fails. I've heard around, that I can access another PC in network by address like "Router IP:port number". Am I right or i got it wrong? So how do I configure router to let connections to certain ports?   I am using 10EC2 Instances behind 1 ELB. And ELB configured 80 to 8080 and 443 to 8080 port. And all 10EC2 instances having installed with Apache Tomcat, total request on ELB around 8000 to 10000 in 1 minute. I am facing problem for CLOSE_WAIT connection on 10 EC2 Instance, having Apache Tomcat. EC2 Instance Type : m1.xlarge When we restart the Apache Tomcat, all CLOSE_WAIT connections are lost, but its not proper way to work on Production Instances. Please help me out.

• Screen goes grey in Remote Desktop Connection from windows 7 to ubuntu server

  I recently got a 64 bit ubuntu server based on Ubuntu Desktop 12.04 "Precise Pangolin". However I can't seem to connect to it properly from my windows 7 64 bit machine. I can get to the login screen for ubuntu, and it seems to succeed in logging in, but then the screen just goes grey before anything comes up. (too low rep to post a picture) I installed xrdp on the server and attempt to connect using the standard windows Remote Desktop Connection program. I also ran the following 2 commands on the ubuntu machine to try get it to run but it was no help. echo "gnome-session --session=ubuntu-2d" > ~/.xsession and sudo apt-get install gnome-session-fallback

• Windows 8 doesn't automatically join Wi-Fi network if Ethernet connection is active

  In Windows 7, my laptop would automatically join both an Ethernet network and the Wi-Fi network in my house (both going through the same router). In Windows 8, if the Ethernet connection is present, it doesn't join the Wi-Fi network at all. The reason I noticed this is that if Wi-Fi isn't active, I don't see my AirPlay speakers. My wireless printer is also unavailable until I manually connect to Wi-Fi. To recap: When I turn on my computer and it's connected to Ethernet, this is what my Network Connections control panel looks like: After I manually join my Wi-Fi network, it looks like this: I would prefer for it to join both networks automatically on startup, the way it did in Windows 7. Is there a way to make this happen?

• Mapping an sFTP connection to a Windows drive?

  I'm looking for a way to map an sFTP connection to a Windows (Vista) drive. In other words, a tool that would add a new drive (let's say N:) to my computer, that would directly point to my remote server via sFTP. That way, "N:\my_dir\file.txt" would actually be something like "/home/user/my_dir/file.txt" on the remote server. Reading the file on Windows would download it, and writing content in it would upload it...network transfers being made via sFTP. I'm aware of Novell NetDrive, but it has various issues with long filenames, and seems to corrupt UTF-8 files content depending on the BOM. Do you know about any reliable alternative ? Thanks ! Edit : I have complete control of the remote server, except that it's remote enough for me not to be able to physically access it.

  I am trying to query several different SQL servers and run a command on each of them. I am unable to get the connection string right. Code, below. I receive the following error:Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Windows authentication. I thought if I passed it the credentials it wouldn't care about the domain. How do I get around this?   sir, i have created a web application in eclipse,db2 database server is running on my pc.so i can access the web application through the address http://localhost:8080/LimsWeb i used team viewer software to establish a remote desktop connection. can my friend somehow connect to my pc so that when he types the above url in his browser he will be able to fetch the pages of the application. i was able to do this by connecting with remote desktop mode.but in that case my friend was able to use the application which i created running on my pc only and in the window provided by team viewer.i want that he can run the application on his own computer calling the given url from his own browser. please help

• XAMPP Closes the Connection and won't let me download anything

  I want my XAMPP Apache server to host a zip file (The file is around 250mb) but the server closes the connection and won't let me download the file! However webistes are loading correctly and It seems that the problem is with the extension Does xampp/apache have any file extension limit that they won't let me download .zip and .exe files? Also tested with a smaller .exe file , the problem is still present. It just doesn't let me download any file from the server.!!!   I am trying to uninstall Exchange 2010, before installing a new instance of Exchange 2010 SP1 on a different server. (Our production Exchange server is 2003) We have met all of the Mailbox uninstall prereqs except for the following: Error: Uninstall cannot continue. Database 'Public Folder Database 1579722947': The public folder database "Public Folder Database 1579722947" contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database. For detailed instructions about how to remove a public folder database, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=81409&clcid=0x409. Recommended Action: We have been able to delete all Public Folders in the 2010 storage group except for the one (previously replicated) folder - "Internet Newsgroups". • LAN connection suddenly domain_not_set.invalid

  I went to work today - internet fine as always. Came back, dreaded yellow triangle. I can connect wirelessly like i am now on my tablet. Thats completely fine. But through LAN I get the domain_not_set.Invalid message if I renew my IP for example. It seems I just don't have a DNS. But I have literally not touched anything no ones even been in the house. Hows that happen? Any help on why only wireless works would be great, I am gonna buy a wireless adapter tomorrow for the interim but I would like to know why. Thanks.

Now I am trying to connect to that server via vncviewer (mac os). but its giving me error Connection refused (61) I am providing only the IP address of the VPS, maybe I also needed port address? How to configure port on vncserver? or its something else?
