• NSTimer freezes the app until it gets fired again?

  Hello all, I have a simple app with a button, UIImageView and a NSTimer. The timer is fired up every 5 seconds repeatedly to update the ImageView with a new image, while the button simply stops the timer and switches to another View. The problem is that when I press the button, nothing happens for a few seconds (until the timer fires up again). Is there a way to cause the button to stop the timer and do its job at any given time instead of between intervals of the timer? Thanks!

• Iphone: Problem with moving back and forth between two UIViewController

  Let me first describe the context of the problem. I have 2 UIViewController call AdminViewController and ButtonReorderViewController. AdminViewController contain 1 button. ButtonReorderViewController contains 1 button and 1 picture. Button in AdminViewController tie to an event call goToReorderButton. The content of goToReorderButton are below: ButtonReorderViewController *buttonReorder = [[ButtonReorderViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"ButtonReorderViewController" bundle:[NSBundle mainBundle]]; UINavigationController *navController = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController:buttonReorder]; //Add a Navigation Controller to the root view [navController setNavigationBarHidden:TRUE]; buttonReorder = (ButtonReorderViewController *) navController; [[buttonReorder view] setFrame:CGRectMake(0, -20, 320, 470)]; [self.view addSubview:buttonReorder.view]; I use UINavigationController to allow me to swipe left and right.So I am in AdminViewController, and I click on goToReorderButton, it load ButtonReorderViewController. I am able to swipe left and right (awesome !!!) So I click the button in ButtonReorderViewController call goToAdmin, simply to go back to the AdminViewController -(void) goToAdmin{ [self.view removeFromSuperview]; } However, as soon as I go back to AdminViewController, I cant click anything at all. The program does not seg fault, it just that I cant click the button at all. if I remove the line buttonReorder = (ButtonReorderViewController *) navController; inside goToReorderButton, then everything work fine. Any idea how to fix this?

  Is there a way to specify the tab order of the elements within a jQuery Dialog which itself contains an Accordion? The dialog also specifies one button in the buttons options. For accessibility, we need to be able to tab through the accordion panes, the form elements in each accordion, the button in the buttons options, and the close icon of the dialog itself, but tabbing seems to be skipping over the button in the buttons options, and I can't find any resource that has a resolution for this sort of problem.

  How can I get the on-screen location of a button in a toolbar? That is getting the rectangle frame of an NSToolbarItem? The [NSToolbarItem view] method seems to always return nil whenever the toolbar item is only a simple action button and thus I couldn't use the normal NSView methods to pinpoint the toolbar button's on-screen position. Background I'm trying to use Matt Gemmell's MAAttachedWindow component to point to a specific toolbar button. The component requires an NSPoint object to "point" the user to a location on the screen. • savedInstanceState cannot be resolved to a variable

  I'm currently working through "The Android Developers Cookbook" and one of the tutorials involves multiple activities in an app. To give a bit of background right now I have to .java files, a "menu screen" and a "game screen". The menu screen simply has a button that leads to the game screen which is currently empty except for a button that takes you back to the menu screen. Currently the game.java file is giving me a "savedInstanceState error" this is the code I am working on. public void onCreate(Bundle savedInsanceState) { // below is where the error comes up super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.game); Button startButton = (Button) findViewById(R.id.end_game); startButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View view) { finish(); } }); } I'm not sure why the error is coming up because on the first java file that same "public void...setContentView..." bit of code compiled perfectly fine... • Update a tableView with a plist took from another table

  Background: I have a tab bar application, which has a tableView as the "heart" of the app. It loads data from a plist and, through a button that checks if there are any updates on the remote plist file, updates the local plist with the remote contents. Then, i have another tableView, that should display only those plist items that have a bool value set to YES. Now i want to add a button to the second table that reloads the plist took from the first table. Expected: When i update the local plist from the first table and when i press the button on the second table, the 2nd table is supposed to update and show the cells with that bool value set to YES. (Note: I set YES as default to some items on plist). What happens: The first table updates its content from remote. The second table shows the old items with the value set to YES. When i press the button to refresh data, it reads the plist fine (by logging it, it has the same contents of the first table -only those set to YES-),but it doesn't update data even if i have [self.tableView reloadData];. • wxPython: Change a buttons text in a wx.FileDialog

  Hello I have a wx.FileDialog (with the wx.FD_OPEN flag) & I would like to know if I can (& how) I could change the button in the bottom right of the FileDialog from "Open" to "Create" or "Delete", etc. What I am doing is I have a button with the text "Delete Portfolio", when pressed it opens a FileDialog & allows the user to select a portfolio file(.db) to delete. So instead of the File Dialog's bottom right confirm button displaying "Open" I would like to be able to change the text to "Confirm" or "Delete" or whatever. Is this possible, its a rather superficial thing to do, but if the button says open when the user wants to select a file to delete, it can be a little confusing even if the title of the dialog says "please select a file to delete"

I have a variable called "state" that I set right off the bat. • How to play small sound file continuously in Silverlight?

  Hello, I have two questions regarding Silverlight's SoundPlay action and properties. My scenario is like: I have two story board: The first story board has an image and a sound file; when the silverlight application gets loaded, the sound starts to play automatically, but if someone clicks the image, the sound file will stop and the second storyboard will start with a new sound file. 1) My first question is how to stop the first sound file of first story board when the second story board starts with the second sound file. 2) My second question is how to play a sound file continuously; for example, in Silverlight we can play a story board continuously with RepeatBehavior="Forever"; but I cannot find a way to play my 10 second sound file forever or continuously. Note: I have attached a small XAML file to show what I am talking about; I am also stating that if instead of an image file, if there were a button, then I can stop the first music file after I click the button and start my second story board with a new sound file, but I would like to use image file instead of a button. Is it possible? If it is, how to do it? Therefore, please answer my following two questions or give big hint or website tutorial links on 1) How to stop the first sound file of first story board when the second story board starts with the second sound file ( When the clickable element is an image instead of a button) 2) How to play a 10 second sound file continuously? ............Code Snippet...................... • AJAX modalpopupextender pressing enter when cancel is focused doesn't trigger cancel

  Been using the Ajax modalpopupextender. I used a script to set focus on the cancel button when it gets showed on the page but when I press enter (expecting that cancel would've been triggered since it was focused) it went ahead and triggered the event for the OK button (which, unfortunately was a delete event). I've tried using various methods for focusing on the Cancel button and trying to make it work. Anyone know how to make this work?

• Setting Mnemonics and Hot Keys for a JOptionPane Dialog

  Is it possible to assign hotkeys and mnemonics to the buttons in a JOptionPane Dialog? I'd like to be able, in a JOptionPane generated message dialog with the options Yes, No and Cancel, press Y to hit the Yes button, N to hit the No button and escape to activate the escape button. Similarly in a dialog with Okay and Cancel buttons I'd like to be able to activate them with enter and escape. I've attempted passing JButtons into the JOptionPane's button Object array with the Mnemonics set already. The mnemonics work and the buttons show up correctly in the dialogs, however, they do not act properly when they are activated. Most noticeably they do not dispose of the dialog. What is the correct way to add hotkeys and Mnemonics to a JOptionPane Dialog's buttons? As always, my apologies ahead of time if this is a duplicate - I searched both Google and Stackoverflow and found nothing.

  hello all, I am working with images and changing their sizes dynamically from the input I get from the user. when I change the size of the image first time it doesnot reflect the changes when I click the refresh the page using the browser button the change gets reflected and after that tere is no need to click the refresh button Please tell how shall I do it so that there is no need to click the refresh button of the browser ,the changes but get reflected at one shot.
