    Can someone please help as i've spent all day trying to fix this. I installed the latest XAMPP and now i can't connect to mysql from terminal.I checked my .profile file and the PATH seems ok.     I have a windows 7 operating system as a test environment. I have SQL Server EE installed with two instances, named as test and production. I took a full backup from AdventureWorks database from test instance and I tried to restore it into the production instance: RESTORE DATABASE [testikanta] FROM DISK = N'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.SQL2008TESTI\MSSQL\Backup\AdventureWorks.bak' WITH FILE = 1, NOUNLOAD, REPLACE, STATS = 10 GO I got an error saying: Msg 3634, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The operating system returned the error '32(failed to retrieve text for this error.   • Microsoft SQL for PHP driver

    Hello I am running a W2K3 x64 server with IIS 7 + FastCGI + PHP 5.3 (x64) I have trouble geting the SQL for php driver to work. It seems it doesn't get loaded, but no error is thrown. I've doublechedked the php.ini a multitude of times and I'm pretty sure I use the right version of the sql for php driver (version 1.1 CTP) and sql native client x64 is installed. Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks

    I'm having trouble upgrading SQL Server 2005 Express SP1 to SP3. The SP1 install uses mixed mode authentication (so there is an sa password).     I have a Win Form, Data Entry, application that uses 4 seperate Data Bases. This is an occasionally connected app that uses Merge Replication (SQL 2005) to stay in Sync. This is working just fine. The next hurdle I am trying to tackle is adding Filters to my Publications. Right now we are replicating 70mbs, compressed, to each of our 150 subscribers when, truthfully, they only need a tiny fraction of that. Using Filters I am able to accomplish this(see code below) but I had to make a mapping table in order to do so. This mapping table consists of 3 columns. A PrimaryID(Guid), WorkerName(varchar), and ClientID(int). The problem is I need this table present in all FOUR Databases in order to use it for the filter since, to my knowledge, views or cross-db query's are not allowed in a Filter Statement. What are my options? Seems like I would set it up to be maintained in 1 Database and then use Triggers to keep it updated in the other 3 Databases. In order to be a part of the Filter I have to include that table in the Replication Set so how do I flag it appropriately. Is there a better way, altogether? SELECT <published_columns> FROM [dbo].[tblPlan] WHERE [ClientID] IN (select ClientID from [dbo].[tblWorkerOwnership] where WorkerID = SUSER_SNAME()) Which allows you to chain together Filters, this next one is below the first one so it only pulls from the first's Filtered Set.   • Windows Server 2012 and Ubuntu 12.04.1 under Hyper-V

    I've set up an instance of Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS under Hyper-V 2012. However it seems to be nondeterministic as to whether or not it completes the boot process. I get a Kernel Panic, "IO-APIC + timer doesn't work!", which from my research is caused by not having integration services correctly installed? It was my understanding that the integration services were all now baked into the kernel? It should then be fine to update the OS (including any kernel updates, as I'm guessing that's what has happened) Being able to rely on this successfully booting would be great as I intend on using ssh for crisis situations.

    Almost everyday my server is crashing due to hight server load, and even restarting apache or mysql can't solve the problem. I need to reboot the server to solve, or it crash again due to the high load.   • Com port redirection from Windows 7 to Windows Server 2008 R2

    We use "Copy file.prn to \tsclient\com1" to print from a TS session to a locally attached serial printer. This works fine from Windows XP, but when trying it from a Windows 7 client computer, we get an "Access is denied" error message. And yes, the check box of COM port is selected on the Local Resources tab of the Remote Desktop Connection client. Any pointers? Has anyone even managed to do this successfully?

  • Linux server cannot be pinged

    I have set up a Linux server in DMZ. There is another Windows server running in same DMZ. These two servers can be pinged via internet using my home PC. However, the another Linux server rented from a hosting service provider can only be pinged from the Windows Server and not from the Linux server (accessed via internet). So the situation is: Windows server (DMZ) ---ping--- Rented Server.....Successful Linux server (DMZ) ---ping--- Rented Server.......Unreachable Home PC ---ping--- Linux server (DMZ).......Successful Home PC ---ping--- Windows server (DMZ).....Successful When I ran tcpdump on my Linux Server(DMZ) and started ping from Rented Server, it showed that the Linux Server(DMZ) is receiving ping and replying. There is no restriction defined in hosts.deny and hosts.allow file that might cause this problem. What else should I check to get this working?

  • Microsoft Office- I purchased it but it is telling me that my license has been used too many times.

    I purchased a copy of Microsoft Office Student Edition last year. My computer's hard drive crashed which meant that I had to reinstall the software and use the serial code again. It is now telling me though that the number of uses has been exceeded. Is there a way to tell Microsoft that I'm trying to validate on the same machine that I was already operating on? I really don't want to have to purchase it again to run on the same machine that it was already running on.

  • Can't Start SQL Server 2005 Agent - Start/Stop Are Not Enabled

    We have a brand new install of SQL Server 2005 on a Windows 2008 Server. When using the SQL Server Management Studio (2005 or 2008) from my Windows XP Professional workstation, if I right click on the SQL Server Agent, I get the context menu but the Start and Stop options are not enabled(grayed out). I am using Windows authentication, I am a member of the SysAdmin and Public SQL Server roles. Also, when right clicking on Maintenance Plans and selecting New Maintenance Plan, nothing happens. I was able to create a maintenance plan with the wizard but now am unable to execute it because SQL Server Agent isn't running? From what I was told by an admin who had access to the server, he was able to login to the box using the domain administrator account and start the SQL Server Agent service from the services applet or from the local instance of SQL Server 2005 Management Studio. Even after he started the service, it still didn't appear to be running from my workstation view through the management studio. What do I need to change to allow me to administer the agent and maintenance plans from my workstation? If I wasn't clear about anything, feel free to ask for clarification.

  • SQL Server Offsite Backups

    We have about !TB of SQL Server databases, and these databases generate about 200GB of data changes each day. Up to this point we have been doing Weekly full backups, daily diff backups, and hourly transaction log backups. The full and diff backups are backed up to tape and taken offsite each day. We have been trying to move away from tapes, and our IT department purchased a Barracuda Backup device that backups up data and then sends it offsite using our internet connection. I have been trying to get this to work for our SQL Server backups, and have ran into a number of problems. I normally like to just use SQL Server to perform backups instead of trying to use a agent, so that is what I tried first. However the Barracuda device was not able to dedup these files very well, so it ended up being to much data to try to send offsite and to archive. I then tried installing the Barracuda agent and using it to backup the SQL Server databases. However the problem I am having there is that on some of the database servers I also have files that need backed up, and I cannot find a way to create seperate backup schedules for the file backups and the SQL Server backups. Barracuda only does full or transaction log backups. So if I want to do hourly transaction log backups I end up doing a file system backup every hour (which is not good), or if I only schedule the backups to run once a night I either have to do a full backup every night, or only do a transaction backup once a day. None of these scenarios are good options. My question is, how is everyone else getting their large SQL Server database backups offsite. Are you just using tape, or have you found a offsite backup device that works well? Is anybody else using Barracuda to backup their SQL Server databases? If you do, then how do you have it setup?

  • Sql Server 2005 Connection Unstable When Sharing Connection

    When connecting to a customers hosting service via Sql Server Management Studio on an internet connection that also has other activity on it, the Sql Server connection to the hosting service is often dropped. An obvious work around to this problem is to NOT have additional traffic on the connection but it still begs the question "Why the Sql Server connection is so unstable?". If there is, for arguments sake, 100kb of bandwidth and a couple of downloads running that are being serviced at 35kB each then there is 30kB bandwidth spare capacity. If a 3rd download is started, that can be serviced at 35kB by the server, it will top out at 30kB and leave zero spare capacity. This is fine and all downloads get along nicely. However it seems that with Sql Server connections it doesn't matter if there is spare bandwidth. Sql Server regularly times out if there is any additional activity on the connection even if i have 1024kB spare bandwidth capacity. This has been experienced across different customer hosting providers over the years and so the assumption is that it's Sql Server related. Why does Sql Server (apparently) require exclusive access to the internet connection in order to maintain a connection... even if that connection has plenty of spare capacity over and above any additional activity on the connection?
