  • If Then Statement Condition Being Ignored With Optimisations On

    I think im going mad but can some show me what im missing, it must be some stupidly simple i just cant see the wood for the trees. BOTH side of this if then else statement are being executed? Ive tried commenting out the true side and moving the condition to a seperate variable with the same result. However if i explicitly set the condition to 1=0 or 1=1 then the if then statement is operating as i would expect. i.e. only executing one side of the equation... The only time ive seen this sort of thing is when the compiler has crashed and is no longer compiling (without visible indication that its not) but ive restarted studio with the same results, ive cleaned the solution, built and rebuilt with no change? please show me the stupid mistake im making using vs2005 if it matters. EDIT2: using this thread as possible causes/solutions : http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2135509/bug-only-occurring-when-compile-optimization-enabled. It does the same with release = optimisations on, x86, x64 and AnyCPU Goes away with optimisations off. Im using V2005 on a x64 win7 machine, if that matters. Thanks

Normally, to find a character (for example: "z") in a database I use a query like this : mysql_query("SELECT * FROM mytable WHERE tag LIKE '%z%'"); But here, I want to found the % character, but in SQL it's a joker so when I write: mysql_query("SELECT * FROM mytable WHERE tag LIKE '%%%'"); It show me all my datas.     Is there anything that can be done about the Designer mode for a ascx file taking forever to show? I'm currently waiting for like 1 minute and still nothing happened. This is not the first time i see this problem, the ascx file doesn't even have any components to show yet... The web user control is like empty and still it won't load. What can be the problem here?

Problems happend when I press F8. Anyway, I think I miss something with broadcast receivers, it's not totally clear. Please help me.

    I noticed that Kohana 3 ORM runs a "SHOW FULL COLUMNS" for each of my models when I start using them: SHOW FULL COLUMNS FROM `mytable` This query might take a few clock cycles to execute (in the Kohana profiler it's actually the slowest of all queries ran in my current app). Is there a way to help Kohana 3 ORM to speed up by disabling this behaviour and explicitly define the columns in my models instead?

    My Table: [LocationId] [Address] [ZipCode] When I show a list of Location's, I also want to show the distance from a given zip code. In Asp.Net Web Forms I had a stored procedure that would return the distance and I would call this SP on ItemDataBound on my GridView. Or, I also would have my SP that is returning the Location list add another column ([Distance]) which I could display in my GridView. How would you do this using Entity Framework and Asp.Net Mvc 2?

    Hello I have a gridView which I use to show some pictures on (small thumb of diffrent levels). When the user finishes one level, I would like to change the thumb for that level. (Somehow show that it has been completed). I created two thumbs for each level. One is the original and one that shows that the level is completed. But how can i change the source of the images?
