• Fastest Way To Format a Plain Text Using Javascript

  I have a huge plain text document, about 700kb which is very big for plain texts and I need to format it on cloud converting it to HTML, but the only things that I need to replace, format to HTML so it can be displayed by the browser, are bold and italic. For bold at the plain text they are like this: Not on bold... **bold text here** not bold here And italic like this: Not italic... *italic text* no italic Just like StackOverflow does for their formatting, but the problem is that I need to make it a lot faster, since the text is so big... One of my ideas was to add a page slide, so I the script just need to format some part of the text, not it all, then after the user changes the page the script would be called again, but the problem is how I can make the code for this all?

All the choices should be unique, so once the option is selected in one combobox, it should be removed from others.   i was looking how to inject a dll into a program (exe, or dll, etc). i have been googleing dll injecting but i have not found anything that is very helpful :(. i have not worked with dlls very much so im not sure on what to do, i really could use some help on this. uhh the only thing i have really found is setwindowshookex but i can't find any examples for it and i don't how to use it. any questions just ask and i'll try to help. • Simple C++ container class that is thread-safe for writing

  I am writing a multi-threaded program using OpenMP in C++. At one point my program forks into many threads, each of which need to add "jobs" to some container that keeps track of all added jobs. Each job can just be a pointer to some object. Basically, I just need the add pointers to some container from several threads at the same time. Is there a simple solution that performs well? After some googling, I found that STL containers are not thread-safe. Some stackoverflow threads address this question, but none that forms a consensus on a simple solution.

The excerpt answer provided by bbum is below: The problem isn't the assignment, it is much more likely that you declared your instance variable to be BOOL *initialBroadcast;. There is no reason to declare the instance variable to be a pointer (at least not unless you really do need a C array of BOOLs).. Remove the * from the declaration. 1.Is there anything wrong in using a pointer variable even when I do not have to maintain an array of BOOLs? 2.I think even if avoiding them a good practice, it is not specific to objective-C and applies to all programming languages which has pointers.   I did a quick search on how to check whether Internet is available or not. Most of them talked about making InterOp calls to wininet.dll. One of the answers pointed towards System.Net.NetworkInformation namespace. Exploring the namespace I found a class Ping which could be used to pinging to our servers from code, and checking whether server is available or not. What I want to ask is how this solution compares to other solutions? • FileInputStream and FileOutputStream to the same file: Is a read() guaranteed to see all write()s that "happened before"?

  I am using a file as a cache for big data. One thread writes to it sequentially, another thread reads it sequentially. Can I be sure that all data that has been written (by write()) in one thread can be read() from another thread, assuming a proper "happens-before" relationship in terms of the Java memory model? Is this behavior documented? EDIT: In my JDK, FileOutputSream does not override flush(), and OutputStream.flush() is empty. That's why I'm wondering... EDIT^2: The streams in question are owned exclusively by a class that I have full control of. Each stream is guaranteed to be accesses by one thread only. My tests show that it works as expected, but I'm still wondering if this is guaranteed and documented. • Java: how to take a screenshot fast

  I am implementing a simple eye tracker, which requires fast screenshoting of what is happening on the screen simultaneously with capturing the video from webcam. The thing is that the way of doing it with Robot, mentioned here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2475303/java-library-for-capturing-active-window-screenshot is extremely slow. By the way, retrieving the video from a webcam works much faster and returns the byte array, which is very fast to be processed. Does anybody know a faster solution? C++ libraries, which can be linked to Java for doing this may help as well. Thank you!

• PHPUnit test for error thrown with wrong argument type

  I'm just starting with PHPUnit and am ok with all assert* methods, but can't figure out how to test for error thrown when the wrong argument is provided to the method - say hinted with array like so: public function(array $list) { } and then tested with null as argument. Could someone please provide an example of how to test for this sort of errors? I've checked quite a few posts on stackoverflow, but couldn't find the answer to this specific issue. I understand that the connect framework provides CSRF middleware, but I am not sure how to implement it in the scope of client-side Ajax post requests. So you can insert a sub-level such as , continue to build the request, and remember to insert a closing tag". I'm interrested for this application. Do you know if this package exists ? • Alternatives to FastDateFormat for efficient date parsing?

  Well aware of performance and thread issues with SimpleDateFormat, I decided to go with FastDateFormat, until I realized that FastDateFormat is for formatting only, no parsing! Is there an alternative to FastDateFormat, that is ready to use out of the box and much faster than SimpleDateFormat? I believe FastDateFormat is one of the faster ones, so anything that is about as fast would do. Just curious , any idea why FastDateFormat does not support parsing?   This is one of the minor CSS problems that plagues me constantly. How do folks around StackOverflow vertically align checkboxes and their labels consistently cross-browser? Whenever I align them right in Safari (usually using vertical-align: baseline on the input), they're completely off in Firefox and IE. Fix it in Firefox, and Safari and IE are inevitably messed up. I waste time on this every time I code a form.   Hi I have a view that is not strongly typed. However I have in this view a partial view that is strongly typed. How do I do I pass the model to this strongly typed view? So I am not sure how to pass it on. • C++ Boost ASIO: how to read/write with a timeout?

  From reading other Stackoverflow entries and the boost::asio documentation, I've confirmed that there is no synchronous asio read/write calls that also provide an easy-to-use timeout as a parameter to the call. I'm in the middle of converting an old-school linux socket app with select(2) calls that employs timeouts, and I need to do more-or-less the same. So what is the best way to do this in boost::asio? Looking at the asio documentation, there are many confusing examples of various things to do with timers, but I'm quite confused. I'd love to see a simple-to-read example of this: Read from a socket, but wait for a maximum of X seconds after which the function either returns with nothing, or returns with whatever it was able to read from the socket before the timeout expired.

• Line breaks in XML are ignored by the SAX Parser

  I am parsing an XML with some CData that contains line breaks. The parser ignores these line breaks. I am trying to figure out a way to catch these newlines in the characters() method and replace them with a break tag for display purposes. I have tried almost everything under the sun and have been scouring stackoverflow for the past 3 hours. I tried every combination of replacing "\n", "\r\n" and so on with a break tag in the characters() method of the parser. I am absolutely helpless right about now.... and would sincerely appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!!!

  How did stackOverFlow, excuse me if it wasn't the first implementation of this system. Decide what its initial tags where? I want to provide users with the best experience on my site and am implementing a tags system. I don't care about search engines or any of that. I just care about my users. Does any one have any advice about things that have failed or succeeded when they allowed users to tag things? Does any one know some good resources about the methodologies of user tagging? Does any one know some good resources about implementing a tags system from a programming perspective, database structures, theories, etc ? I'll give my check to who ever I feel points me in the best direction on the subject.

All I want to do is on specific reranging operations insert a new cell or delet the selected one! Sometimes I get a * Assertion failure in -[_UITableViewUpdateSupport _setupAnimationForReorderingRow], /SourceCache/UIKit/UIKit-963.10/UITableViewSupport.m:295 Attempt to create two animations for cell exception and when I want to reload my data by calling [self.tableView reloadData] I get a * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSRangeException', reason: '* -[NSCFArray objectAtIndex:]: index (0) beyond bounds (0)' This is quiet anoying! Is there anybody out there who knows how to handle this problem? Please help me!

Now I am shifting to web programming so I just stuck in understanding the fundamentals of web programming, after googling I came to StackOverflow to learn from all of you great guys. My confusion is about how messages flow between systems in distributed enviornment ? I mean suppose I want to send a message "Hello" to a system connected to LAN or Internet, then what will be the steps taken to send the message. Second thing is suppose my system is "A" and I wana send message to system "B" which is connected via a wire, so how the message flows on wire and how system "B" reads it from the wire ?
