• Google Closure Library - Adding non-TreeNode children to a TreeNode

  Hi, I'm using the Google Closure Library and goog.ui.tree in particular to build a tree structure GUI component. It works pretty well out of the box, but I'd like to add a few extra controls to each of the leaves (goog.ui.Checkboxes in particular). The problem is that Component.addChild has been overridden in BaseNode so that each added child is treated as a child tree node as opposed to a child component. In effect plenty of errors are thrown if you try to add anything else than an actual tree node as a child, as these children are traversed and BaseNode-specific functions are called on them. I must admit I'm quite a Closure newb, but I reckon there must be some workaround for this, right? Essentially all I want to do is have a bunch of checkboxes appear next to each leaf in my tree. I am getting error as "service temporarily unavailable". I have assigned AppKey, Secret Key and session key. • Notify DataTemplateSelector about the change

  I use DataTemplateSelector for ListView column headers template selection. ListView itself is in DataTemplate and ends up in a few tabs. So, in practice, I have same DataTemplate (so ListView too) shared between more TabItems. This means that if I select tab {A} and set XDataTemplate on ListView column {AColumn}, if I switch the tab, lets say to tab {B}, on {B}'s ListView (that is always the same one) column {AColumn} we will see the same XDataTemplate, because we share same UI data. So I created data layer where I hold relational information about {Tab} <- {ListView:Column} <- {HeaderContent}, which actually reads DatatemplateSelector in order correctly update UI on user screen. What I need is to notify to DataTemplateSelector to update current view in the moment that I need. How can I achieve that goal? Thank you.

  hi, I have an aspx page on which I have 2 static jquery tabs.Upon clicking on a button avaiable on one of these tabs,I would like to add a new tab dynamically,which gets its content loaded from another aspx page.I've also tried with the following sample http://jquery-ui.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/demos/tabs/manipulation.html I've downloaded jquery-ui-1.8rc3.custom zip file and tried to add the above page with the relevant script,css files to my asp.net website and run,but it does not seem to work.Also I do not want to have a dialog opening and asking the user to enter the tab title as in the above sample.   Hi, I'm facing currently a problem regarding Subsonic configuration. What I want to achieve is using subsonic data access in a System.Web.UI.Design.ControlDesigner class. This class is hosted in Visual Studio Environment and enables design time operations on the attached System.Web.UI.WebControls.Control. The only problem is SubSonic seems always looking for SubSonicSection in the application configuration regardless passing connection string to it. The relevant code snippet: using (SharedDbConnectionScope dbScope = new SharedDbConnectionScope(new SqlDataProvider(), ConnectionString)) { Table1 _table1 = new Select().From<..().Where(...).IsEqualTo(...).ExecuteSingle<...>(); Throws exception on ExecuteSingle() method (configuration section was not found) while using (SharedDbConnectionScope dbScope = new SharedDbConnectionScope(ConnectionString)) { Throws exception on new SharedDbConnectionScope() (configuration section was not found) So the question is: Is there any way to pass the settings runtime to bypass the configuration section lookup as I don't want to add any subsonic specific configuration to devenv.configuration Thanks

• Using the sharepoint stsadm import command fails when list exists

  When using the stsadm -o import command in sharepoint I am getting an error relating to a list already existing, the import then seems to fail. Should it not handle this scenario of a list already existing on the destination server? I then used the UI to delete the existing list and ran the import again. It then seemed to fail at the same point saying the list exists. In the UI the list appears but when I click it, it reports that the list does not exist - almost as if it's stuck in a half created state, unable to be deleted or created by the import. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

  we're considering migrating our UI to XBAP. we've chosen XBAP despite knowing the clients must have .net pre-installed, since we're not targeting the masses but rather IT professionals in the corporate environment, and it's a way to preserve our investment (in a WPF based UI in a client-server architecture) and enjoy web deployment. however, we are concerned about the maturity of the platform/architecture and it's adoption. do you know of any commercial applications out there using XBAP, and do you have any experience using it? can you elaborate on that experience? also, as @Murph suggested, can you think of strong reasons to prefer clickOnce over XBAP (or the other way around)?

• Accessing unbound DetailsView cell values when Detailsview DefaultMode is Edit

  i have a DetailsView that is populated by a Linq to Entities query. Example query is below. Now if this Detailsview was bound to a datasource control, i would convert a column to a templateColumn and programatically access cell values like so Dim NameTextBox As System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox = CType(DetailsView2.Rows(1).Cells(1).FindControl("TextBox1"), System.Web.UI.WebControls.TextBox) such that i can then say NameTextBox.Text to get the Name value. But the problem i have is, with this detailsview which is unbound, i have no column at design time to convert to a template, and yet i want to access its cell values. help is appreciated.

• Tearing my hair out - ASP.Net AJAX AutoComplete not working

  Hope someone can help with this. I've been up and down the web and through this site looking for an answer, but still can't get the Autocomplete AJAX control to work. I've gone from trying to include it in an existing site to stripping it right back to a very basic form and it's still not functioning. I think I've exhausted all the "Try this..." options I can find, everything from adding in [ScriptMethod] to changing things in Web.Config. Is there anything obviously wrong with this code?   I'm attempting to select all <script type="text/html"> tags in a page. I use <script> tags to store HTML templates, similar to how John Resig does it. For some reason, the following jquery selector doesn't seem to be selecting anything: $("script[type*=html]").each(function() { alert("Found script "+this.id); }); This markup is in the BODY of the HTML document: <body> <script id="filter-search" type="text/html"> <dt>Search</dt> <dd><input type="text"/></dd> </script> </body> I've also tried putting it into the HEAD of the HTML document, and it is still not found. Scripts in the actual page are not found.   I have a huge website (containing around 5000+) pages. There is a theme functionality in the website where user can choose different colors for their profile. Now i want to use the ASP.net theme feature and put different CSS (for different colors) in the theme folder and in Global.asax i want check the user theme and render appropriate link element with the css. But my problem is, i am not able to access the Page element for adding the link in the page. Here is my code Dim page As System.Web.UI.Page = TryCast(System.Web.HttpContext.Current.Handler,System.Web.UI.Page) page.StyleSheetTheme = "Black" But when i run this code I get a Null reference error. P.s : My application is very huge so its not possible to have a master page or a base class and inherit it in every page. Please suggest.

  I'm trying to build a UI using directdraw in c#. For this im using a DirectDrawWrapper as sugested here. My initial tests setting up the screen work perfectly. But now i'd like to incorporate gesture recognition into the UI. So i instantiate a GestureRecognizer and tie it to the _form which also gets passed to the DirectDrawGraphics constructor, form = new Form(); _form.show(); _graphics = new DirectDrawGraphics(_form, CooperativeFlags.Fullscreen, BackbufferMode.Any); gestureRecognizer = new GestureRecognizer(); gestureRecognizer.TargetControl = _form; Pasting the whole DirectDrawWrapper code might be a bit to much, so let me try to formulate a question. I guess directdraw talks directly to the video memory, as it should. But then my form wont receive any messages, thus any eventhandlers i'v tied op to the GestureRecognizer wont be fired. How can i still receive any messages from the touchscreen?

  I have an activity that I can declare as Launcher category and it launches just fine from the home screen. However, when I try to hook-up the same activity into my SyncAdapter's settings activity and open it from the Accounts & Sync page - MySyncAdapter - (touch account listing) it aborts with a system fatal error (reboots phone). Meanwhile, my SyncAdapter is working other respects. • WCSF vs MEF, What's Best For Me?

  Hey fellows, I'm working on a large web application that includes many modules (CRM, Inventory, Administration, etc.) What I want to accomplish is to be able develop each of these modules independently (the UI, Core Logic, DataAccess Logic, and all) and then integrate them all together into a core module (this integration should only be a change in the configuration file). For example, if I have a core module named Host, I should be able to add the CRM module to the host module by simply adding this line to the host's configuration file: <module name="CRM" /> I did some reading on the WCSF, and found that it can help integrate some modules together, but it really doesn't offer so much help in terms of integrating those UI elements. Some friends suggested MEF for the job, but I haven't looked at that yet. What do you guys think? Is it possible to achieve this level of modularity, and how much work do I have to put into it to get it working?

  I want to insert some script that is required for my JavaScript library in all view pages. I know that Asp.net MVC is built on Asp.net Framework. Therefore, I can override many methods in “System.Web.UI.Page” class that is a parent of “System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage” class. Nevertheless, I can do it by override Render method but it makes all view pages be invalid for XHTML 1.0 strict. • Asynchronous Silverlight WCF callback

  I've created my own WCF service and I've successfully been able to talk to it via my Silverlight client. I ran into an interesting problem on my asynchronous callbacks though. When my callback is invoked, I can't update any UI controls with the dreaded invalid cross thread access Here's what my callback function looks like private void GetTimeCallBack( object sender, Talk.ClientBase<IService>.ClientEventArgs e ) { lblDisplay.Text = e.Object.ToString(); } A quick google search showed me that I have to do this instead. private void GetTimeCallBack( object sender, Talk.ClientBase<IService>.ClientEventArgs e ) { Dispatcher.BeginInvoke( () => lblDisplay.Text = e.Object.ToString() ); } Now everything works fine, but I wasn't expecting my callback to be running on a different thread. Will I always have to use the Dispatcher class in order to modify anything within my class or is this just limited to UI elements? I've not familiar with the Dispatcher class at all so I'm looking to understand it more.

• Calculating string sizes on iPhone on a background thread

  I've got some somewhat hefty string size calculations happening in my app (each one takes close to 500ms, and happens when the user scrolls to a new "page" in my app (like the Weather app). The delay only happens once per page, as the calculation only needs to be run once (and can even be cached for subsequent launches with the same data). Anyway, I still like to not block the UI for this type of work, as to me it screams using threads, but I know UIKit is not meant to be used from other threads. (I know NSString is not part of UIKit, but the string sizing methods are part of the UIKitAdditions...) So how should I go about doing this? What's the best way to not block the UI and do so safely?
