Rails Heroku Gemfile.lock error - push rejected (open source)

I am trying to push my open source RoR application to Heroku but I'm having an issue making the initial push. I have read many similar questions, but none of those answers has helped to solve my problem. I have tried bundle update and bundle install various times. I also have tried removing and then re-committing my Gemfile.lock file, however I get this same error still... $ git push heroku master Counting objects: 5199, done. Creating an XmlNode/XmlElement in C# without an XmlDocument?

I have a simple class that essentially just holds some values. I have overridden the ToString() method to return a nice string representation. Now, I want to create a ToXml() method, that will return something like this: <Song> <Artist>Bla</Artist> <Title>Foo</Title> </Song> Of course, I could just use a StringBuilder here, but I would like to return an XmlNode or XmlElement, to be used with XmlDocument.AppendChild. I do not seem to be able to create an XmlElement other than calling XmlDocument.CreateElement, so I wonder if I have just overlooked anything, or if I really either have to pass in either a XmlDocument or ref XmlElement to work with, or have the function return a String that contains the XML I want?

What languages other than C and C++ have explicit reference and pointer type qualifiers? People seem to be easily confused by the right-to-left reading order of types, where char*& is "a reference to a pointer to a character", or a "character-pointer reference"; do any languages with explicit references make use of a left-to-right reading order, such as &*char/ref ptr char? I'm working on a little language project, and legibility is one of my key concerns. It seems to me that this is one of those questions to which it's easy for a person but hard for a search engine to provide an answer. Thanks in advance!

Is angularjs capable of filtering based on keywords?

I have 30 categories in mysql. I have 450 subcategories which are related to the 30 categories in another table. Categories table id _ title _ Keywords 1 _ Animals _ animal, animals, pet, parrot 2 _ Books _ books, book, educational n _ xxx _ xxx Subcategories table id _ ref _ title _ keywords 1 _ 1 _ cats _ cats, persian cat, bengal cat 2 _ 1 _ dogs _ dogs, labrador, golder retriver 3 _ 2 _ Classic _ The davinci code, books, book, classical books I need to implement the filter to a textfield. If the users enters labrador in the textfield then show the categories or/and subcategories which contain 'labrador' in the keywords. In this case the "dogs" subcategory would appear! I know that this has been done using jquery. But is there anyway to implement this with angularJs? If you got a jsfiddle then it would be awesome! :) Thank you

Getting list of fields back from 'use fields' pragma?

So I'm familiar with the use fields pragma in Perl that can be used to restrict the fields that are stored in a class: package Fruit; use fields qw( color shape taste ); sub new { my ( $class, $params ) = @_; my $self = fields::new( $class ) unless ref $class; foreach my $name ( keys %$params ) { $self->{ $name } = $params->{ $name }; } return $self; } My question is.. once I've declared the fields at the top, how I can get the list back.. say because I want to generate accessors dynamically? Is keys %FIELDS the only way? Secondarily, is there a more efficient way to pre-populate the fields in the constructor than looping through and assigning each parameter as I am above? Thanks!

Where should I define Enums?

Hi: I'm setting up a new app, with a Repository layer/assembly, a Services layer/assembly, and a UI assembly. So I end up with namespaces such as: App.UI App.Biz.Services App.Data.Repositories And then I have enums for the args that are used by all 3 layers. Only place that makes sense is to put them in the Cross cutting assembly. (define them in Data layer too low, as UI should have no direct ref to them, defined in Services, too high for Repository layer, which shouldn't be referencing upwards). But...which namespace in Common? Namespaces should mostly be used to define concerns, rather than Type... I've always used something like: namespace App.Common.Enums {...} but it's always felt a bit of a hack that works for me, but not well in a large org where everybody is generating Enums, and if we put them all in Enums folder it's going to make the code folder harder to understand later. Any suggestions?

Using R to open grib files

I am using R to work with meteorological data. I proceed in two steps: 1- convert grib to netcdf using the commande line function ncl_convert2nc from ncar command language 2- use package ncdf in R to import the netcdf data. I have two problems: 1- I would like to do automatic treatment of many files within R. Can I call ncl_convert2nc within R ? 2- For some particular grib files, the convertion with ncar tool does not work. Is there other ways or trick (other than transcription into netcdf) to read grib files in R ?

I try to simply databind IsSelected property with IsSelected field in my class. But after I change the value in code its doesn't change the property, neither does clicking on ListBoxItem change the field value. How can I set the Rails environment for my somewhat stand alone Ruby script?

I have a Ruby script in my Rails app that I use to load some data from Twitter. In the future I will make it an automatic background process, but for now I run it manually like: ruby /lib/twitter/twitterLoad.rb In order to use the Rails model classes and such, I have the following as the top line of the script: require "#{File.dirname(__FILE__)}/../../config/environment.rb" By default, the development environment is used. But, I'd like to be able to choose the production environment at some point. Update #1: The RAILS_ENV constant is getting set in the environment.rb file. So, I was able to put ENV['RAILS_ENV'] = 'production' at the very top (before the environment.rb) line and solve my problem somewhat. So, my new question is, can do pass in env vars through the command line?

Implementing Tagging System with PHP and mySQL. Caching help!!!

With reference to this post: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2122546/how-to-implement-tag-counting I have implemented the suggested 3 table tagging system completely. To count the number of Articles per tag, i am using another column named tagArticleCount in the tag definition table. (other columns are tagId, tagText, tagUrl, tagArticleCount). If i implement realtime editing of this table, so that whenever user adds another tag to article or deletes an existing tag, the tag_definition_table is updated to update the counter of the added/removed tag. This will cost an extra query each time any modification is made. (at the same time, related link entry for tag and article is deleted from tagLinkTable). An alternative to this is not allowing any real time editing to the counter, instead use CRONs to update counter of each tag after a specified time period. Here comes the problem that i want to discuss. This can be seen as caching the article count in database. Can you please help me find a way to present the articles in a list when a tag is explored and when the article counter for that tag is not up to date. For example: 1. Counter shows 50 articles, but there are infact 55 entries in the tag link table (that links tags and articles). 2. Counter shows 50 articles, but there are infact 45 extries in the tag link table. How to handle these 2 scenerios given in example. I am going to use APC to keep cache of these counters. Consider it too in your solution. Also discuss performance in the realtime / CRONNED counter updates.

Method params match signature, but still getting error

I am in the midst of converting a VB library to C#. One of my methods has the following signature in VB: Private Shared Sub FillOrder(ByVal row As DataRowView, ByRef o As Order) In C# I converted it to: private static void FillOrder(DataRowView row, ref Order o) From my constructor inside my Order class, I am calling the FillOrder() method like so: DataView dv = //[get the data] if (dv.Count > 0) { FillOrder(dv[0], this); } In VB, this works: Dim dv As DataView = '[get data]' If dv.Count > 0 Then FillOrder(dv.Item(0), Me) End If However, in VS10 in the C# file I am getting a red squiggle under this call with the following error: The best overloaded method match for [the method] has some invalid arguments This was working code in VB. What am I doing wrong?

Specify artifact version outside of pom

Is there a way to specify the artifact version outside of the POM file? I have 2 CI projects that build an artifact. One builds a "stable" development version from a 'develop' branch and the other builds an unstable version which is the result of merging all active feature branches into the develop branch. I want the stable version to build as xyz-1.0.jar and the integration build to go in as xyz-1.0-SNAPSHOT.jar. Is there a way for the CI job to run a maven task or specify via the command line if a release or snapshot jar should be built without manually modifying the POM? Currently I have the version specified as 1.0 in the pom. I considered using the release plugin but I don't want the automatic version number increase and tagging that it does.

Secure messaging using Signed MIME is it reliable?

We have an automatic reporting and notification system written in .net that sends emails with plain text. We are having to encrypt the messages that we send our clients. The possible implementation approaches we have: Send messages as S/Mime email with attachments. Plain text email with that just contains a link to a web site that will display the message over https. It seems like S/Mime is a simpler solution, as we won't need to create the web application or secure it. Our concern is our interoperability with our clients email clients and more importantly their email filtering software. Has anyone had success or issues deploying a Signed MIME messaging solution?

CRT not initialized

I'm trying to compile one project with MSVC 2010, compilation is ok, but when I try to run the app, it gives me CRT not initialized error. It is a console application, so I tried to specify mainCRTStartup as Entry Point, but it didn't help. In the same solution there are other projects, and they don't have such a problem. The difference which I see between them is that one which is not working, uses boost. Boost v1.38.0 if this is important. Runtime Library is Multi-threaded DLL. Looping through NSArray while subtracting values from each object? [on hold]

I have NSNumber objects stored in an NSMutableArray. I am attempting to perform a calculation on each object in the array. What I want to do is: 1) Take a random higher number variable and keep subtracting a smaller number variable in increments until the value of the variable is equal to the value in the array. For example: NSMutableArray object is equal to 2.50. I have an outside variable of 25 that is not in the array. I want to subtract 0.25 multiple times from the variable until I reach less than or equal to 2.50. I also need a parameter so if the number does not divide evenly and goes below the array value, it resorts to the original array value of 2.50. Lastly, for each iteration, I want to print the values as they are counting down as a string. I was going to provide code, but I don't want to make this more confusing than it has to be. So my output would be: VALUE IS: 24.75 VALUE IS: 24.50 VALUE IS: 24.25 … VALUE IS: 2.50 END

Calling some functions before main in C

I'd like to do some stuffs before main function. I have multiple source files. In each file, there is some work that needs to be done before main. It was no problem in C++, but problematic with C. In C++, this can be done by two ways: Exploiting a constructor of a global class/struct. Calling a function to a global variable For example, static const int __register_dummy_ = __AddRegisterMetaInfo(...); However, in C, either ways is impossible. Obviously, there is no constructor. So, the first option is inherently impossible. I thought that the second option would be possible, but not compiled in C (I tested only with Visual C++. It gives C2099.). C only allows a constant to a non-automatic variable. Is there any way to call some functions before main?

Multiple windows services in a single project = mystery

I'm having a bizarre issue that I haven't seen before and I'm thinking it MUST be something simple that I'm not seeing in my code. I have a project with 2 windows services defined. One I've called DataSyncService, the other SubscriptionService. Both are added to the same project installer. Both use a timer control from System.Timers. If I start both services together, they seem to work fine. The timers elapse at the appropriate time and everything looks okay. However, if I start either service individually, leaving the other stopped, everything goes haywire. The timer elapses constantly and on the wrong service. In other words, if I start the DataSyncService, the SubscriptionService timer elapses over and over. ...which is obviously strange. The setup is similar to what I've done in the past so I'm really stumped. I even tried deleting both service and starting over but it doesn't seem to make a difference. At this point, I'm thinking I've made a simple error in the way I'm defining the services and my brain just won't let me see it. It must be creating some sort of threading issue that causes one service to race when the other is stopped. Here the code.... latex table reference

Hi, I wrote a long table with a label in a tex file and \input it into my main tex file. The reference in the main tex file to the table, however, does not show the numbering of the table but the one of the next table that are written directly in the main tex file. All long tables that are written directly in the main tex file have correct references. How to fix my problem? Must the label be defined in the same tex file as its reference? Thanks and regards! The label is \label{tab:yy}, and the reference is \ref{tab:yy}, and every table has a distinct label.

C++ coverage tool that WORKS?!

Been searching for a good coverage tool for a while now. I'm with VC++ 2008. Tried already: NCover, PureCoverage, PartCover and a few others I can't remember their names. None works! Not even with a very basic console application that does almost nothing. Tried to get an evaluation copy from BullsEye and few more others - not only that they require you to ask for it (no automatic process), they don't even answer after you request AND after you ask what's going on, through the support mail. So the question is: Is there any tool, which I can immediately download an evaluation for it, that actually works on VC 2008 projects? Something that will get me going within 10 minutes? It's funny but it seems to be a very non-trivial request in the area of this kind of software.

Is the "message" of an exception culturally independent?

In an application I'm developing, I have the need to handle a socket-timeout differently from a general socket exception. The problem is that many different issues result in a SocketException and I need to know what the cause was. There is no inner exception reported, so the only information I have to work with is the message: "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond" This question has a general and specific part: is it acceptable to write conditional logic based upon the textual representation of an exception? Is there a way to avoid needing exception handling? Extjs 3.4 - Button Icon does not show or does not center

I want to fill a button with an icon I created but whatever I have tried just seems to put the icon either half cut off and way left, or it doesn't show at all. I've been trying different combinations of CSS and the icon, iconcls, cls button options. I was following the Ext 3 buttons example page but that doesn't seem to display anything for me... Find similar or "like" text and replace it with other in excel

Does anyone know how i can find similar descriptions in excel and replace them with 1 other description is there a wild card? i am. trying to make a pivot chart with a list of transactions and their descriptions and i want to group all my ATM withdrwls but i cant. On the pivot chart they appear as ATM Withdrwal-REF-1234 and each of these "withdrwls" have different reference and as a result they show up as individual items on the chart...how can i group say all my ATM withdrwals as 1 ATM Withrdawl item so that it shows a 1 atm withdrwl item on my pivot chart?

.NET "Timer" would block other method calls?

Hi guys: In ASP.NET 3.5, we suspect a delegate triggering by a "Timer" will block other method calls. From logs, some function calls will wait for the finishing of the delegate and continue to work. Is it true? If yes, what workaround can I do? PS: The delegate contains codes to use WCF to retrieve data and the following code private void Replace<T>(ref IList<T> src, IList<T> des) { lock(src) { while (src.Count > 0) { GC.SuppressFinalize(src.ElementAt(0)); src.RemoveAt(0); } GC.SuppressFinalize(src); src = des; } } Thanks a lot.
