• Writing string, numeric data to Excel via C# works, but Excel does not treat numeric data correctly

  Hi, I'm getting result sets from Sybase that I return to a C# client. I use the below function to write the result set data to Excel: ***private static void WriteData(Excel.Worksheet worksheet, string cellRef, ref string[,] data) { Excel.Range range = worksheet.get_Range(cellRef, Missing.Value); if (data.GetLength(0) != 0) { range = range.get_Resize(data.GetLength(0), data.GetLength(1)); range.set_Value(Missing.Value, data); } }* The data gets written correctly. The issue is that since I'm using string array to write data (which is a mixture of strings and floats), Excel highlights every cell that contains numeric data with the message "Number Stored as Text".   I have a Meeting Object: Meeting{id, name, time, CreatedBy, UpdatedBy} and a MeetingAssignee{id, MeetingID, EmployeeId, CreatedBy, UpdatedBy) Meeting, as Aggregate root, has a method AssignEmployee. I was about to pass in the current user to the Meeting object as I call AssignEmployee, so that it can update its audit fields accordingly. But this doesn't seem right - is it? Obviously I can keep the audit fields public and change them later - perhaps at service level? What is everyone's else preferred method for updating these fields? Please note: We are not using Nhibernate, but a custom ORM which does not have anything automatic in place. Thanks.

• C# change e-mail 'from' address to a user-provided one.

  We have an app that allows users to send e-mails from our system. It allows the user to specify their e-mail address, and gives them several standard templates to use as a starting point for their e-mail. When we send the e-mails, we use the address they provided as the 'reply-to', but the 'from' address of the e-mail (naturally) looks like our system (from '[email protected]'). Is there a way to change this without getting tangled up in spam filters or automatic blocking? We'd prefer not to confuse the recipient as to who actually composed the e-mail they've received.

• PHP: Check if 0?

  Hi, I am using a class which returns me the value of a particular row and cell of an excel spreadsheet. To build up an array of one column I am counting the rows and then looping through that number with a for() loop and then using the $array[] = $value to set the incrementing array object's value. This works great if none of the values in a cell are 0. The class returns me a number 0 so it's nothing to do with the class, I think it's the way I am looping through the rows and then assigning them to the array... I want to carry through the 0 value because I am creating graphs with the data afterwards, here is the code I have. // Get Rainfall $rainfall = array(); for($i=1;$i<=$count;$i++) { if($data->val($i,2) != 'Rainfall') // Check if not the column title { $rainfall[] = $data->val($i,2); } } For your info $data is the excel spreadsheet object and the method $data->val(row,col) is what returns me the value. • android drawable changes sizes on screen when reading image from file

  Hi I have an image on a private file. I read the file, create the drawable, and assign it to an ImageView. The ImageView has WRAP_CONTENT so the size is automatic. On 320x480 screens, the image looks good But on screens with more resolution and high density 480x800 or 480x854 (N1, droid) , when the image is for example 150x150, I see the image as 100x100. Of course it has something to do with the density but not sure how should I resolve this. • Centering Divisions Around Zero

  I'm trying to create something that sort of resembles a histogram. I'm trying to create buckets from an array. Suppose I have a random array doubles between -10 and 10; this is very simplified. I then want to specify a center point, in this case 0 and the number of buckets. If I want 4 buckets the division would be -10 to -5, -5 to 0, 0 to 5 and 5 to 10. Not that complicated right. Now if I change the min and max to -12 and -9 and as for 4 divisions its more complicated. I either want a division at -3 and 3; it is centered around 0 ; or one at -6 to 0 and 0 to 6. Its not that hard to find the division size = Math.Ceiling((Abs(Max) + Abs(Min)) / Divisions) Then you would basically have an if statement to determine whether you want it centered on 0 or on an edge. You then iterate out from either 0 or DivisionSize/2 depending on the situation. You may not ALWAYS end up with the specified number of divisions but it will be close. Then you iterate through the array and increment the bin count. Does this seem like a good way to go about this? This method would surely work but it does not seem to be the most elegant. I'm curious as to whether the creation of the bins and the counting from the list could be done in a clever class with linq in a more elegant way? Something like creating the bins and then having each bin be a property {get;} that returns list.Count(x=> x >= Lower && x < Upper).

  This a conceptual question on how one would implement the following in Lisp (assuming Common Lisp in my case, but any dialect would work). The way I had it designed originally was to add a 'pause' parameter to the initial counting lambda such that when iterating you can still call it and receive the old cached value if passed ":pause t", in hopes of making the permutation slightly cleaner. Also, while the example above is a simple list of two identical closures, the list can be an arbitrarily-complicated tree (which can be permuted in depth-first order, and the resulting permutation set would have the shape of the tree.). I had this implemented, but my solution wasn't very clean and am trying to poll how others would approach the problem. Thanks in advance.

  I've got an SSIS project where I am constructing an SQL command based on some variables. I'm constructing the command in a script task, and want to output the constructed SQL to the 'Execution Results' window. I am trying to do this using a FireInformation line from inside my script as follows: Dts.Events.FireInformation(99, "test", "Make this event appear!", "", 0, true); However, in the script editor when editing ScriptMain.cs, that line is underlined in red, and on mouseover, I get the following message: Error: The best overloaded method match for 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Tasks.ScriptTask.EventsObjectWrapper.FireInformation(int, string, string, string, int, ref bool') has some invalid arguments As a result, my script does not compile and I cannot execute it. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here, or what I need to change to be able to see the values of my variables at this point in the Execution output?

The app has an document management and the number of document (a field of my domain), need to be manual or automatic, and this choise will be consider in configuration. • Is it good practice to export variables in Perl?

  I'm finding it very convenient to pass configuration and other data that is read or calculated once but then used many times throughout a program by using Perl's use mechanism. I'm doing this by exporting a hash into the caller's namespace. For example: package Myconfiguration; my %config; sub import { my $callpkg = caller(0); my $expsym = $_[1]; configure() unless %config; *{"$callpkg\::$expsym"} = \%config; } and then in other modules: use MyConfiguration (loc_config_sym); if ( $loc_config_sym{paramater} ) { # ... do stuff ... } However, I'm not sure about this as a best practice. Is it better to add a method that returns a hash ref with the data? Something else?

  Newb question: how do i show a from that have been hidden using this.Hide(); I have tried MainMenuForm.Show(); and this just says i need an object ref have tried: MainMenuForm frmMainMenu = new MainMenuForm(); frmMainMenu.Show(); which seems to show the appropriate form. but when you exit the app, it is still held in memory because it hasn't shown the form that was hidden, instead it has shown a new version of the form. in effect having 2 instances of the form (one hidden, one visible). whats the correct procedure here Thanks in advance

  As we Android developers know, the SQLiteDatabase execSQL method can execute only one statement. The doc says: Execute a single SQL statement that is not a query. For example, CREATE TABLE, DELETE, INSERT, etc. Multiple statements separated by ;s are not supported. I have to load in a batch of records, 1000 and counting. How do I insert these efficiently? And what's the easiest way to deliver these SQLs with your apk? I mention, there is already a system database and I will run this on the onUpdate event.   I'm trying to bring a C++ library into C#, so naturally I am trying to make a C++/CLI project. In visual studio I created a new project (Visual C++ project, class library).   I'm considering how to do automatic bug tracking and as part of that I'm wondering what is available to match source code line numbers (or more accurate numbers mapped from instruction pointers via something like addr2line) in one version of a program to the same line in another. (Assume everything is in some kind of source control and is available to my code) The simplest approach would be to use a diff tool/lib on the files and do some math on the line number spans, however this has some limitations: It doesn't handle cross file motion. It might not play well with lines that get changed It doesn't look at the information available in the intermediate versions. It provides no way to manually patch up lines when the diff tool gets things wrong. It's kinda clunky Before I start diving into developing something better: What already exists to do this? What features do similar system have that I've not thought of?

  How are people handling the use of templates in their Go-based AppEngine applications? Specifically, I'm looking for a project structure that affords the following: Hierarchical (directory) structure of templates and partial templates Allow me to use HTML tools/editors on my templates (embedding template text in xxx.go files makes this difficult) Automatic reload of template text when on dev server Potential stumbling blocks are: template.ParseGlob() will not traverse recursively. For performance reasons it has been recommended not to upload your templates as raw text files (because those text files reside on different servers than executing code). Please note that I am not looking for a tutorial/examples of the use of the template package. This is more of an app structure question. • Compiling 32-bit Program on VS 2008

  I've been developing on VC++ 2003 on an XP PC but am now on Windows 7 and bought a cheap legal copy of VS 2008 to continue work on the same project. My product has to continue to run on customers' XP systems, so I'm strictly interested in a 32-bit executable. The first issue I ran into was the PRJ0003 error "spawning cl.exe". I had to add the path to this file to the VC++ Directories settings (it appears in both a bin\amd64 and bin\x86_amd64 directory, but I don't think it matters output-wise which I use?). The issue I now have (not counting a tedious cleanup to convert strcpy to strcpy_s, etc.) is that I'm not clear on whether I'm generating a 32-bit or 64-bit exe out of this. My project properties are set to a target of "Win32", so I assume that all is well. Is this correct? I have read some discussions about this, but it's never quite clear if they are talking about whether the compiler itself is running x64 vs. x86, or whether the compiled code is x64 vs. x86, and how this is differentiated. So am I doing the right thing to generate a 32-bit, Win32, x-86 program?

  Hello everyone... I am working on an automatic image stitching algorithm using MATLAB. So far, I have downloaded a source code much like the one that I had in mind and so, I'm currently studying how the code work. The problem is, when stitching two or more images together, their color intensity will most probably be different from each other so the stitched seams will be visible to the eye... So, right now, I'm trying to find out how to redistribute their color intensity using the images gradients so that the whole stitched image will have the same color intensity. I hope someone can help me out there and if so, thank you very much...

• EntityFramework 4.0: can you return different types depending on data in the database?

  I have a Media table in the database. I also have an IMedia interface. I have two different media types that implements the same interface: 1) AudioMedia 2) PictureMedia What I wonder here, is if I can use EntityFramework (I'm using an EDMX file but I have my models in a separate library, with automatic code generation turned off), and depending on the data in the database, select what type to get (AutioMedia or PictureMedia). Since they are both implementing the same interface (could be changed to an abstract class if needed I suppose), I'm thinking that somewhere along the way you could specify what class it should be. I should perhaps point out that I have a class that inherits from ObjectContext to access the objects. Perhaps there is something that that can be done?
