  • Scope of StaticResource within a WPF ResourceDictionary

    I have a WPF ResourceDictionary with the following TextBlock: <TextBlock Visibility="{Binding Converter={StaticResource MyBoolProp ResourceKey=BoolToVis}}"> </TextBlock> The ResourceDictionary is included in App.xaml under MergedDictionaries: <Application.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="MyResourceDictionary.xaml"/> Within the App.xaml I have defined the BoolToVis converter (again, under Application.Resources) <BooleanToVisibilityConverter x:Key="BoolToVis" /> When I start my app up - I get the following XamlParseException: "Provide value on 'System.Windows.Markup.StaticResourceHolder' threw an exception." The InnerException is: "Cannot find resource named 'BoolToVis'. Resource names are case sensitive." I'm able to refer to this converter directly with App.xaml (in fact, it's another TextBlock) and within other UserControls with no problems. This particular bit of code also worked fine under the .NET 4.0 RC (and Beta2). This error only started happening when I upgraded to the .NET 4.0 RTM. I'm able to work around it by declaring another BooleanToVisibilityConverter within MyResourceDictionary.xaml and referring to it like so: <TextBlock Visibility="{Binding Converter={StaticResource MyBoolProp ResourceKey=BoolToVis2}}"> </TextBlock> Any reason why I should need to do this?

  • ASP.NET how to use __doPostBack from Custom JavaScript with Master/Content Pages

    In a simple aspx page I can have a custom JavaScript function postback as described in http://www.xefteri.com/articles/show.cfm?id=18 The simple page uses a linkbutton: <asp:LinkButton id="CreateFile" runat="server" onclick="CreateFile_Click" /> with code behind that has the VB subroutine: Sub CreateFile_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) and a Javascript custom function that does: __doPostBack('CreateFile',''); When I move the code to a content page with a corresponding master page the simple example no longer works. I'm aware that server control IDs are changed in the generated HTML when a master page is involved, and I'm using the correct IDs in the Javascript. As an example, for the LinkButton ID I use '<%=CreateFile.ClientID%' for the Javascript in the generated HTML. Never the less, I still can't figure out how to get postbacks from the Javascript when master pages are involved. More accurately, with a master page in the mix the code won't even compile but results in: 'CreateFile_Click' is not a member of 'ASP.testmaster_aspx' If I remove onclick="CreateFile_Click" from the LinkButton markup it compiles but does not work. Similary if onclick is removed from the simpler version without a master page it does not work either, as expected. Any input on how to get postback from a custom Javascript function when using master pages would be much appreciated.

    I have this Razor Template <table> <tr> <td>@Html.RadioButtonFor(i => i.Value, "1")</td> <td>@Html.LabelFor(i => i.Value, "true")</td> </tr> <tr> <td>@Html.RadioButtonFor(i => i.Value, "0")</td> <td>@Html.LabelFor(i => i.Value, "false")</td> </tr> </table> That gives me this HTML <table> <tr> <td><input id="Items_1__Value" name="Items[1].Value" type="radio" value="1" /></td> <td><label for="Items_1__Value">true</label></td> </tr> <tr> <td><input checked="checked" id="Items_1__Value" name="Items[1].Value" type="radio" value="0" /></td> <td><label for="Items_1__Value">false</label></td> </tr> </table> So I have the ID Items_1__Value twice which is - of course - not good and does not work in a browser when I click on the second label "false" the first radio will be activated. I know I could add an own Id at RadioButtonFor and refer to that with my label, but that's not pretty good, is it? Especially because I'm in a loop and cannot just use the name "value" with an added number, that would be end up in multiple Dom Ids in my final HTML markup as well. Shouldn't be a good solution for this?

  • Selecting text in mobile Safari on iPhone

    I'm trying to make it easy for an iphone user to copy some text to the clipboard in mobile safari. As in the usual "touch-hold-copy". There is a specific bit of text I want to a user to copy. I have full choice of the html markup in which to wrap the text. How can I make it easy, rather than abitrary? For instance: Is there a way to "select all" the text upon touch-down using javascript? Then a user could just continue to touch-hold and then choose copy? Is there a way to bring up the "select all" option? Like you can when typing in a text box? After which they can choose copy? If there's no javascript solution, how can I arrange the html to help Safari select the right bit of text easily? As opposed to just a word, or a wrapping div? I've tried onFocus="this.select()" for various elements, none seem to work. Also tried onClick. Those who have tried to port a site that uses ZeroClipboard to the iPhone might have some ideas.   • Binding "Text-Property" of a derived textbox to another textbox doesn´t work

    Hello, i have a class 'MyTextBox' that derives from the default TextBox in Silverlight. This class currently contains no additional code. I set up a binding in xaml to bind the Text-Property of MyTextbox to another Textbox to reflect the input made in the Textbox. The effect is that MyTextBox doesn´t update and not display the text of the other Textbox. Additional i made an equal binding for a normal Textbox. And this works.     As per the thread title I want to programmatically set the ContextKey of an AutoComplete Extender placed in a gridviews footer row. Background is I have a data model that has Territory and Journey Plans for those territories. Customers need to be added to the journey plans but only those customers that belong to the Territory that owns the Journey Plan. In the footer row of my grid I have added a textbox which allows a user to enter account code of customer. Attached to this textbox is an autocomplete extender. I need to do a select against the db for customers with account code like prefix where customer in territory. But there is no way to provide territory id. I want to use L2E since it s very convenient to my company's apps, I created a demo project, the demo does run on every machine but when I, lets say, press a button that has some code that uses the entity I get this error: specified store provider cannot be found in the configuration, or is not valid. note that I get this error only on machines that does not have VS2008 installed, on these machines (the ones with VS2008) the demo works well. any advice is appreciated. I am using MySql server with Mysql Conector 6.3 and the model is created with ADO.Net entitiy model.   • Code Completion -- Aptana Eclipse Plugin

    I have been doing javascript development for the last couple weeks and have tried JSDT and Aptana to assist in code completion. JSDT wasn't very good at all, but I did have more luck with Aptana (used as eclipse plug-in, not the standalone product). The problem I'm encountering is that when I create javascript classes I cannot get code completion to work. For example, if I use the following then code completion doesn't work: var foo = new function(value){ this.myMethod= function(){ } } I have also verified that the following won't work: function foo(value){ this.myMethod= function(){ } } I have found that using a JSON style does work: var foo = { myMethod: function(){ } } Does anyone know why Aptana works for the last style, but not the first? Using the JSON style won't work for me because I have to have seperate instances of the class in question. Also, I am not very successful in getting code completion to work across files. For example, if I have 3 files in the javascript directory then I usually cannot get Aptana to pick up the JSON style markup in the other two classes. This DID work at one point (for the first 2 classes I created), but since then whenever I add new classes they aren't picked up. Thank you very much for you assistance. Jeremy

    I am using the jQuery validate plugin. My error labels are styled like tooltips and take many levels of nested divs in order to create. The plugin has a wrapper option that allows for an element type to be specified as a wrapper for the error message, but it's only wrapped once. Is anyone familiar with how to do nested wrapping? This isn't my exact markup, but as an example: <div class="tooltip"> <div> <div> <span class="error">This field is required.</span> </div> </div> </div> * UPDATE * The response from Chris answers my original question, but creates a new problem. The errors are now being displayed as desired, but the plugin fails to clear them. When a failed validation passes, span.error is set to display:none, but the div.tooltip nested wrapper still displays.

    I'm using the curvycorners jQuery plugin (http://www.curvycorners.net/instructions/) to force IE to render rounded corners on divs. It works really well, apart from one thing: I have a validation error-message that pops up inside the div, using jQuery's "show" method. Curvycorners adds an extra div that is absolute positioned and has a set height, this means that you have to redraw the rounded corners if you want the containing div to resize when the error-message is shown.     All, I'm working on a java webapp that we deploy in the Resin web app server. I have been doing some XML parsing for a new part of the application, and realized that our app was using Resin classes to do the parsing. I wanted to get away from that and use something more standard for a number of reasons, so I set these system properties in my resin config file (and added the xerces jar to my classpath): <system-property javax.xml.parsers.DocumentBuilderFactory="org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl"/> <system-property javax.xml.parsers.SAXParserFactory="org.apache.xerces.jaxp.SAXParserFactoryImpl"/> And, now I'm getting JSP compilation errors on several pages (I guess Resin's built in parser was more lenient). The error reads: org.xml.sax.SAXParseException: The value of attribute "title" associated with an element type "display:column" must not contain the '<' character. And, the 'display:column' tag on some pages does indeed contain markup in the 'title' attribute. Here's an example: <display:column scope='col' class=" appealColorBG selectAllWidth" title="<span class='centerThis'><label for='selectAll'>Select All</label><br /> <input type='checkbox' name='selectAll' id='selectAll' onClick='selectAllCheckboxes();'/></span> " > That's some ugly JSP code, I know, but it's also code that's already in production, so I'm hesitant to change it. Does anyone know of a way that I can set xerces so that it will allow the JSP to compile as is?

  • Accessing Request object from custom JSP tags

    I'm trying to make a set of custom tags that encapsulate form elements (markup and validation). There's a method given to retrieve the "Out" object easily: JspWriter out = getJspContext().getOut(); However I can't figure out how to get the request object. I want to be able to directly access the submitted form values from within the Tag class so that I can validate each field. The documentation is quite sparse, so I thought maybe I could use the JspContext object to somehow get the request attributes. But I don't understand the different scopes. System.out.println(getJspContext().findAttribute("field1")); always prints "null". Enumeration e = getJspContext().getAttributeNamesInScope(1); Looping through and printing out the enumeration just gives me a list of classes that don't exist: javax.servlet.jsp.jspOut javax.servlet.jsp.jspPage javax.servlet.jsp.jspSession javax.servlet.jsp.jspApplication javax.servlet.jsp.jspPageContext javax.servlet.jsp.jspConfig javax.servlet.jsp.jspResponse javax.servlet.jsp.jspRequest So is this even possible? If not, could anyone point me to a tag library that deals with form display and validation? I searched the internet for a couple hours and it seemed every single one was discontinued and I couldn't download them. Either that or suggest a better alternative for handling forms.

  • jQuery hover menu not disappearing

    I have a basic menu using some nested UL's, which is pretty standard I think. When hovering over an LI from the "root" menu, I want the UL within that LI to display. Move the mouse off or to another LI, it shows that submenu. Move down to the submenu and it stays while you hover over each element. I had it working with a simple jQuery.hover() set, but then I ran into issues. When on a page, the "root" menu item is given a class of 'current-page' and if that class exists, I want it to display that submenu statically after a mouseout. Hope I explained that well enough. I just tossed a variable into the hover functions so on the mouseout it ran a .show() on the current-page's submenu. Easy. Except that when I move the mouse between the individual LI's of the submenu, it changes back to the current-page submenu. So I attempted to add a timer element based on another question here. That made things worse -- now the submenus just don't disappear. Here's my CSS, markup, and JS ... how the heck do I make this work properly? As a side note, I'm using the $('.current-page ul:first').show() because if I gave .current-page any "display" setting in the CSS, it positioned it really weirdly on the page.

  • Binding a TreeView with ContextMenu in Xaml

    I'm pretty new to Xaml and need some advise. A TreeView should be bound to a hierarchical object structure. The TreeView should have a context menu, which is specific for each object type. I've tried the following: <TreeView> <TreeView.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="RoomTemplate"> <TreeViewItem Header="{Binding Name}"> <TreeViewItem.ContextMenu> <ContextMenu> <MenuItem Header="Open" /> <MenuItem Header="Remove" /> </ContextMenu> </TreeViewItem.ContextMenu> </TreeViewItem> </DataTemplate> </TreeView.Resources> <TreeViewItem Header="{Binding Name}" Name="tviRoot" IsExpanded="True" > <TreeViewItem Header="Rooms" ItemsSource="{Binding Rooms}" ItemTemplate="{StaticResource RoomTemplate}"> <TreeViewItem.ContextMenu> <ContextMenu> <MenuItem Header="Add room"></MenuItem> </ContextMenu> </TreeViewItem.ContextMenu> </TreeViewItem> </TreeViewItem> But with this markup the behavior is as intended, but the child items (the rooms) are indented too much. Anyway all the bining samples I could find use TextBlock instead of TreeViewItem in the DataTemplate, but wonder how to integrate the ContextMenu there.

  • Suggestions for displaying code on webpages, MUST use <br> for newline

    Hi, I want to post code snippets online (wordpress.com blog) - and have its whitespace formatted nicely. See the answers suggested by this other SO question: Those would be OK, except that I like to copy code to clip board or clip entire pages using Evernote - and they use either the <pre> tag or <table> (or both) to format the code. So I end up with text whose newlines and white spaces ignored, e.g. string url = "<a href=\"" + someObj.getUrl() + "\" target=\"_blank\">"; // single line comments // second single line override protected void OnLoad(EventArgs e) { if(Attributes["class"]&nbsp;!= null) { //_year.CssClass = _month.CssClass = _day.CssClass = Attributes["class"]; } base.OnLoad(e); } Which I find rather annoying myself. My problem is that I can't seem to get an UpdatePanel to work properly with a CheckBox inside of it.   • System Tray Popup Windows 7 Style

    Hey All, I want something like this: http://cybernetnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/windows-7-wireless.jpg This window is not resizable, and aligns itself above the system tray icon which it is related to. I have this: http://i.imgur.com/79FZi.png Which is resizeable, and it goes wherever it feels like. If you click the volume control in Win 7, it always pops up directly above the icon. This is ideal. I've found this reference which I think is trying to solve the same problem (can't tell though as the images are dead), http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2169006/create-a-system-tray-styled-box-in-winforms-c but I'm using WPF and I'm not sure how to get these Form objects they refer to from my Window object. This is the XAML declaration of my window atm, <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:d="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/blend/2008" xmlns:mc="http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/markup-compatibility/2006" x:Class="WirelessControl.Window1" x:Name="Window" Title="Window1" Width="260" Height="370" mc:Ignorable="d" WindowStyle="None"></Window> I feel like based on how common this is in Windows that there must be a fairly easy way to do this. ResizeMode="NoResize" causes my window border to disappear, so that's no help. Thanks guys, I hope I was comprehensive enough.
