• C# Virtual Mode List View Click 1 Selects More Than One Items

  I have a list view with virtual mode set to true and other things. It doing ok. But 1) Say there are 25 items and 15 of them are visible, that is to see the rest of 10 items need to scroll down. 2) Before scrolling swap two items, say myItems[0], it must be visible & myItems[20], it must be not visible scroll required. 3) Now select the first item, it was swapped, you now have two items selected, both 0 indexed and 20 indexed ones. When after swap, those two list view items are of same Position and same Bounds. But before 20-indexed item's Position was (-1, -1) and Bounds was (0,0,0,0). How come 0-indexed item didn't change its position & size? How to solve this ?

• HTML stops at a PHP script made to connect to a mysql database. No errors printed.

  I'm trying to set up a login script for PHP using the tutorial on this site. The problem is that the site stops when it hits these lines, no error, no text: <?php $conn = mysql_connect('localhost', 'root', 'password') or die('error line7' . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db('mydb', $conn) or die('error line8' . mysql_error()); ?> If I take out these lines, the rest of the html runs perfectly. I've double checked my passwords and everything, nothing is working. I know very little about php and mysql other than what I've learned trying to set this up.

• Best way to perform authentication on every request

  Hello. In my asp.net mvc 2 app, I'm wondering about the best way to implement this: For every incoming request I need to perform custom authorization before allowing the file to be served. (This is based on headers and contents of the querystring. If you're familiar with how Amazon S3 does rest authentication - exactly that). I'd like to do this in the most perfomant way possible, which probably means as light a touch as possible, with IIS doing as much of the actual work as possible. The service will need to handle GET requests, as well as writing new files coming in via POST/PUT requests. The requests are for an abitrary file, so it could be: GET http://storage.foo.com/bla/egg/foo18/something.bin POST http://storage.foo.com/else.txt Right now I've half implemented it using an IHttpHandler which handles all routes (with routes.RouteExistingFiles = true), but not sure if that's the best, or if I should be hooking into the lifecycle somewhere else? • Ant database rebuild script, avoiding interactive prompting

  Hi Guys. I'm writing an ant script to rebuild our database i.e. dropping everything and rebuilding from scratch. The problem our DBA adds a Y/N prompt before executing the rest of the script, and therefore we can't call this from an automated build process. Does anyone have any suggestions to circumvent the Y/N prompt? Obviously we could create seperate scripts, one for the DBA's and one for the automated build - but this requires maintaning both. We're running on Windows so it's not as easy as using sed to strip out the prompt...but i'm thinking something along those lines. Not sure if that's clear enough but hope you can help. Cheers.

My exposure to new trends or technologies is haphazard at best, often limited to a "Hey, that sounds interesting" when I see people discussing something I'm not familiar with on SO. To abuse a metaphor, I'm quite familiar with the tree where I work, but I know too bloody little about the rest of the forest. How do other folks keep abreast of what's going on in the software industry? Are there any sites/blogs/podcasts/whatever that you find particularly valuable for keeping you informed of potentially useful new technologies or industry-wide trends? (My apologies in advance if this is a duplicate; this feels like something that ought to have been asked before, but alas, my search-fu has failed me.)

  When a SQL batch returns more than one message from e.g. print statements, then I can only retrieve the first one using the ADO connection's Errors collection. How do I get the rest of the messages?   hi, so i have a table lets say call it "tbl.items" and there is a column "title" in "tbl.items" i want to loop through each row and for each "title" in "tbl.items" i want to do following: the column has the datatype nvarchar(max) and contains a string... filter the string to remove words like in,out, where etc (stopwords) compare the rest of the string to a predefined list and if there is a match perform some action which involves inserting data in other tables as well.. the problem is im ignotent when it comes to writing T-sql scripts, plz help and guide me how can i achieve this? whether it can be achieved by writing a sql script?? or i have to develope a console application in c# or anyother language?? im using mssql server 2008 thanks in advance

• PHP code cannot see query string param on return in Facebook oAuth flow

  I am doing some integration with Facebook Open Graph using their oAuth flow and having issues with parsing query string parameters they return. On my callback URL, they pass back an "access_token" parameter with a hash (#). so the callback would be: http://mydomain.com/callback.php#access_token=foobar123 where foobar123 is my access token I'm trying to parse out. However, no matter what I do, my PHP code cannot see if and I've done every debug trick I know (even using phpinfo() to go through everything). The URL is stated only as http://mydomain.com/callback.php. It's as if the rest of the URL isn't really there! This code returns nothing: $token = $_REQUEST['access_token']; Any help would be greatly appreciated... I'm obviously missing something simple.

Since I haven't found a solution yet I thought I tried something else in the meantime: search for every <a href= and copy whatever is there until I hit a </a>. Now, my C is a bit rusty but I do remember i can use strstr() to get the first instance of that string, but how do I get the rest? Any help is appreciated. PS: No. This is not homework on school or something like that. Just so you know.

  Should not be such a hard question... I'm just having a hard time figuring out how to make operations on some jquery elements, particularly their indexes. Teh codez: $( "#docSlider" ).css("background-image", "url(../../bundles/mypath/images/maquette/img" + $( "#selectable li" ).index( this ) + (".jpg)")); I want to make the name of the picture I load depend on the index of a jQuery selectable. So I grab the index and try to add 1... but it can't work because "+" is also a concatenator. I've tried to parseInt as well, but it was always worth 0. How do I simply transform the index to an integer and then concatenate it with the rest of the string? Thank you in advance! Edit : I'm using a function that already exists, so I can hardly change the parameters (well, I guess I can't...)

  Dear experts, I would like to implement a API of Javascript that sort of resemble a light switch. For instance, there are two buttons on the actual HTML page act as the UI. Both of the buttons have event handlers that invokes a different function. Each function have codes that act like a state, for instance. button1.onclick=function (){ $("div").click( //code effects 2 ) } button2.onclick=function (){ $("div").click( //Code effects 2 ) } I the code works fine on the surface but the 2 state functions overlap. the effects is going to take place for the rest of the way until the next reload of the document. Basically what I want to achieve is that when 1 button is clicked, it will switch "OFF" the state of function invoked by the other button and vice versa. Thus, the effects achieved are unique are not overlapped. Is there anyway to achieve this or could any experts point me to the right direction. Thanks in advance.

• CSS gaps between image links for no reason

  Hi, I've been trying to get this horizontal navigation sorted for the past few hours now and nothing is working. I've tried reset.css stylesheets, *{padding: 0; margin: 0) etc. and I still have gaps inbetween my image links. You see, the navigation is made up of an unordered list of image links displayed inline, but there are gaps in between each image, left, right, top and bottom and I can't see why. It's the same in all browsers. Here is a link to the page, and so source: Beansheaf Temporary I can't post more than one link (damn reputation) so the css is at the same url but in the directory "styles" and is called "fund2.css". I've tried to do this via the NSNotificationCenter class - the log gets called but the table is never updated.   I have two tables Customer and CustomerPhone. Customer usually has multiple phone numbers, so when i run select statement on customer 101, i will get multiple records due to the multiple phone numbers. As you see below all the "Phone" and "Fax" field belongs to CustomerPhone table. These are considered as two records in the CustomerPhone table whereas the rest of fields relate to Customer table which is a single record. What should i do to fill Phone and Fax field in this case? Should i run select statement on CustomerPhone first and then run select statement on Customer?

  I just got a book that goes over all the VS2010 tools. Most I have never used like load testing/web testing, UML Tools, Layer Diagrams.... Has anyone had any real world experience with using these VS2010 tools like the UML diagramming? I am wondering if it is something that would really be useful starting a new project or is it just busy work that no one ever uses once they are made? How are the UML diagrams integrated with the rest of development in VS2010 ? The last project we just made some really basic Visio diagrams but maybe this is better. Alot of VS2010 Ultimate tools are over kill (layer diagram) for small/mid level projects it seems. UML seems to be one of those things I hear about past 10 years but never seem to use.

  Is there a way to take automatic screenshots of a web page (by specifying its URL) in a web app using PHP or Ruby on Rails? Perhaps using a plugin or some external REST service. I've researched a lot, and nothing seems to fit except something like this (http://www.binarymoon.co.uk/2010/02/automated-take-screenshots-website-free/) but I doubt Wordpress would just let me spam their servers for something not Wordpress related. MDTM ctime blksize blocks *How is FTP LIST used and parsed (preferably on a single file)? What I need most are the values for atime and ctime, there rest is to be filled for the sake of having full functionality. • PHP APC - Why is loading cached array op codes slow?

  I'm using APC to reduce my loading time for my PHP files. My files load very fast, except for one file where I define more than 100 arrays. This 270 kb file takes 200 ms to load. The rest of the files are full of objects, methods, and functions. I'm wondering: does OP code caching not work as well for arrays? My APC cache should be big enough to handle all of my classes. Currently 40% of my cache is free. My hit rate is 99%. apc.shm_size=32 M apc.max_file_size = 1M apc.shm_segments= 1 APC 3.1.6 I'm using PHP 5.2, Apache 2, and Windows Vista.

• CUDA & VS2010 problem

  I have scoured the internets looking for an answer to this one, but couldn't find any. I've installed the CUDA 3.2 SDK (and, just now, CUDA 4.0 RC) and everything seems to work fine after long hours of fooling around with include directories, NSight, and all the rest. Well, except this one thing: it keeps highlighting the <<< >>> operator as a mistake. Only on VS2010--not on VS2008. On VS2010 I also get several warnings of the following sort: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC\include\xdebug(109): warning C4251: 'std::_String_val<_Ty,_Alloc>::_Alval' : class 'std::_DebugHeapAllocator<_Ty>' needs to have dll-interface to be used by clients of class 'std::_String_val<_Ty,_Alloc>' Anyone know how this can be fixed?

• [C++] Is it possible to use threads to speed up file reading ?

  Hi there, I want to read a file as fast as possible (40k lines) [Edit : the rest is obsolete]. Edit: Andres Jaan Tack suggested a solution based on one thread per file, and I want to be sure I got this (thus this is the fastest way) : One thread per entry file reads it whole and stocks its content in a container associated (- as many containers as there are entry files) One thread calculates the linear combination of every cell read by the input threads, and stocks the results in the exit container (associated to the output file). One thread writes by block (every 4kB of data, so about 10 lines) the content of the output container. • Web framework recommendation for python (webservices, auth, cache, ...)

  Hi all, Googling for the past week, but cannot finally decide which python web framework would be right for me. The web app I'm about to develop would be almost completely "pure" html with js (jQuery). Server side would have to do the following: authentication session management caching web services (almost all the on page data would be pulled with jQuery through web services) secured web services (through some form of authentication; this is for remote accessing some of the web services though other web apps, desktop/mobile applications) If there is a good tutorial/guide/idea for how to do this in Django I would be most thankfull if someone could share it as I already have experience with it. The thing that made me start thinking about other frameworks is Django's built in ORM. I know I could swap it with SQLAlchemy, but wouldn't go down that road if I'm not sure all the rest of the requirements is supported. Thanks all in advance.
