• How can I run a function anytime anything is animated with jQuery?

  Hi - I have some jQuery animations in my code to slide divs up and down in response to some mouse clicks and other logic. This is all working just peachy, however in IE 6 some of the smaller icon images on the page don't slide along with the rest of the div for some strange reason. They kind of stay put then flicker into the new position and I've chalked this up to an IE6 'feature'. Considering that I have to support IE6, I wanted to just hide the icons anytime an animation started, and show them again when the queue was empty. I couldn't find a reference to any kind of events or hooks into the queue itself and I'd rather not add the hide code, then the show code to every animation as a callback. Thanks if you can help- b

  My company participates in Windows Error Reporting via Winqual. We'd like to add some additional data to our crash reports, using WERRegisterMemoryBlock. Obviously we'd like to make sure this is working before we ship our next version. How can we test it? Is there a way to locally preview precisely what is going to be sent? Does this realistically reproduce what we are going to be able to retrieve from Winqual? Alternatively, can we generate a real report from a developer machine, then retrieve the report from Winqual? How would we distinguish this test case from the rest of our Winqual data?

• Merge two lists of objects which hold different data

  I have an object "Project" which has a number of fields, one of which is "Name". I have one spreadsheet of projects which contains some of these fields, and another which contains the rest. However, Both spreadsheets have the "Name" field. I've read them in and populated two List, only populating the available fields from that particular source. E.g. a Project from List 1 looks like; {Name="MyProj", Type="Form", Priority=NULL}, whereas a Project from List 2 {Name="MyProj", Type=NULL, Priority="High"}. Now, I want to merge these two lists into one in which each Project object has all of its fields populated, with the Name field being used to match the elements. How can I achieve this? Are there any nice ways of doing this concisely? Thanks

• using a test account for in app purchases??

  i created in app purchases in my application.But still my test account doesn’t work fine. When i test my application using test account the sandbox environment asks me to buy the product and after buying it asks me to buy the product again straightaway. Is it some problem while using test accounts or is there a problem in my coding?? this is my first application and figuring out in app purchases for your application can be really hard at times. i have 4 products and this happens only with 1 or 2 products and rest work fine. So i am sure the in app purchases is fine but cant figure out what could be wrong??

• Browser Compatablitiy, Support, Modern Browsers and older Versions.

  This is a question to all web-developers working in the industry more than a few years. Today the server guy at my work told me that his browser didnt render a google font I used on a site properly, so I checked his browser - it was firefox 3.5. (google font Raleway).. This made me think.. I know for some of our sites its a requirement to support IE6 (larger corperate sites) but for the rest (personal sites) should I be looking at developing for all incrments of firefox, chrome, IE and safari???? Does your company still support IE6?   Hi, I have a Rest-Service exposed through spring-mvc. I have a particular method which is correctly mapped and called through a http-call. My spring application contains the hibernatetransactionmanager and transactions are configured through @Transactional-annotations. I annotated the method with @Transactional. @Transactional(readOnly = true) @Override @RequestMapping(value = "/start", method = RequestMethod.GET) @ResponseBody public List start(....) Whenever I call the http-method I get org.hibernate.LazyInitializationException from my org.springframework.http.converter.json.MappingJacksonHttpMessageConverter which is bound in my application context. Is the @Transactional annotation valid for the MessageConverter as well?

• Inserting an element into a sorted list

  Ok I'm using getSharedPreferences to store my high score but before I fill it up I wanted to sort the scores into ascending order via and array, but if it finds a Score less than it in the first pos then it wont check the rest for the smallest? //function to add score to array and sort it public void addscoretoarray(int mScore){ for(int pos = 0; pos< score.length; pos++){ if(score[pos] > mScore){ //do nothing }else { //Add the score into that position score[pos] = mScore; break; } } sortArray(score); } should I call sortArray() before and after the loop to fix this problem or is there a better method to achive the same results? • How do you set a double value to a "non-value"

  I have two double data elements in an object. Sometimes they are set with a proper value and sometimes not. When the form field from which they values are received is not filled I want to set them to some value that tells me, during the rest of the code that the form fields were left empty. I can't set the values to null as that gives an error, is there some way I can make them 'Undefined'. PS. Not only am I not sure that this is possible, it might not also make sense. But if there is some best practice for such a situation I would be keen to hear it.

• Update Multiple Tables at a Time - SQL Server/T-SQL

  I have two tables, Customer and CustomerPhone. Single record in Customer can have multiple CustomerPhone records. As you see in the image below, Phone and Fax resides in CustomerPhone table whereas the rest of the fields resides in Customer table. If user want to edits a customer record, obviously i will have to update the record in Customer table and at least two records from CustomerPhone (Phone and Fax). I could write two update statements, one Update customerPhone and the second update Customer table. Is there a better solution?

• How to get result size from an SQL query and check size

  Hi I'm trying to write a piece of code for a simple verification method as part of a MVC. At present the SQL is not written as a prepared statement so obviously it is at risk to a SQL injection so any help in regards to writing the SQL as a prepared statement would be really helpful. • Can I write functors using a private nested struct?

  Given this class: class C { private: struct Foo { int key1, key2, value; }; std::vector<Foo> fooList; }; The idea here is that fooList can be indexed by either key1 or key2 of the Foo struct. I'm trying to write functors to pass to std::find so I can look up items in fooList by each key. But I can't get them to compile because Foo is private within the class (it's not part of C's interface). Is there a way to do this without exposing Foo to the rest of the world? (note: I've got to run to a meeting. I'll be able to post more sample code in about a half hour.)

  Hey! I have a problem I know how I would solve easily developing under eclipse - but not so easily developing under net beans. I want to create a custom swing widget - which I can instantiate by code as many as I need and attach them to my main panel. I have developed the rest of the GUI using the GUIBuilder. The problem is - im not entirely sure how to do this. • Color Themes for Eclipse?

  I am a recovering Emacs user, who is trying to ease into Eclipse usage. (Since I'm encouraging the rest of the team to use it, I guess I should at least try to get along). My current excuse is that it hurts my eyes. I'm currently using the excellent zenburn theme in emacs, and would love to find it for eclipse. However, I find that changing my color theme every few months makes for a great way to procrastinate, so ideally I'd like to find a repository for eclipse color themes. There don't appear to be any eclipse themes indexed by Google, so all the great themes must be sitting on your hard disk somewhere. Please share them. Thanks

• Best way to get a reasonably random key for MYSQL records

  Hi there, I need to generate a reasonably random unique key for a table. It should be something like a GUID for MYSQL. I've tried UUID, but it looks like only the first few characters are actually random- the rest are the same every time I insert them. Essentially, it is desirable for this key field to be very difficult to guess, even if you already have one known value in the column. What is the best way to do this, and how should I set up the field data type to store the value efficiently? Thank you, Steve

  Let's say that there is a file that contains an unsorted list of student information, which includes a student ID number as well as other information. I want to make a program that retrieves student information based on student ID number. In order to make it efficient, I store the student IDs in a B-tree. So when I enter a student ID number, it searches the B-tree to see if its there or not. It also does one more thing. If it finds the student ID number, then it also returns where in the file that student's information is. This is the secondary key. The program uses this information to locate the rest of the student's information and prints it to screen. Can this be done? Is this how a b-tree works?

• Wordpress page grouping

  Is there any way to group/folder my pages in Wordpress. Pages as in pages, not posts. In case I'm using it as a CMS and have, say, 200 pages. 10 main pages and the rest are all sub-pages. It'd be really inconvenient to see all the pages as a one huge lists. I know I could use posts and categories, as I won't be needing the blog functionality anyway, and even if I did need it, I could make it work anyway. Thing is, I'd lose a bit functionality this way and it's unfortunately not an option for me. I have looked around and Googled but so far with no results. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has come to wonder about that.

• How to use gems not in a Gemfile when working with bundler?

  When using bundler with a project in general and Rails specifically, you have access only to gems defined in your Gemfile. While this makes sense, it can be limiting. Mostly I find it limiting when I want to use a certain RSpec formatter that the rest of the team doesn't use. Unless it's in the Gemfile, it isn't accessible. Any way around it or I have to add it to Gemfile? Update: my problem wasn't Bundler but Spork. When running RSpec without Spork I had no problem of using whatever formatter I wanted.

• app.config - where should it go?

  This is a follow on from here: Storing database settings outside app.config So I know it's possible to have one app.config, with different sections externalised, all with different values. But are they like the web.config files in asp.net projects where you can just copy it into the same folder as the rest of the files and it will work, or do I need to compile it in somewhere. Also, won't it be overwritten by the .exe.config file? Edit Ok, so I worded this question a bit badly. I've updated it.

• JQuery UI Tabs widget error handling

  When an ajax request fails, the JQuery UI Tabs widget stops responding and the "Loading..." spinner remains on the tab that caused the error. • Where is the chink in Google Chrome's armor?

  While browsing with Chrome, I noticed that it responds extremely fast (in comparison with IE and Firefox on my laptop) in terms of rendering pages, including JavaScript heavy sites like gmail. This is what googlebook on Chrome has to say tabs are hosted in process rather than thread. compile javascript using V8 engine as opposed to interpreting. Introduce new virtual machine to support javascript heavy apps introduce "hidden class transitions" and apply dynamic optimization to speed up things. Replace inefficient "Conservative garbage colllection" scheme with more precise garbage collection scheme. Introduce their own task scheduler and memory manager to manage the browser environment. All this sounds so familiar, and Microsoft has been doing such things for long time.. Windows os, C++, C# etc compilers, CLR, and so on. So why isn't Microsoft or any other browser vendor taking Chrome's approach? Is there a flaw in Chrome's approach? If not, is the rest of browser vendor community caught unaware with Google's approach?
