  • Printing Stdout In Command Line App Without Overwriting Pending User Input

    - by Chris S
In a basic Unix-shell app, how would you print to stdout without disturbing any pending user input. e.g. Below is a simple Python app that echos user input. A thread running in the background prints a counter every 1 second. import threading, time class MyThread( threading.Thread ): running = False def run(self): self.running = True i = 0 while self.running: i += 1 time.sleep(1) print i t = MyThread() t.daemon = True t.start() try: while 1: inp = raw_input('command> ') print inp finally: t.running = False Note how the thread mangles the displayed user input as they type it (e.g. hell1o wo2rld3). How would you work around that, so that the shell writes a new line while preserving the line the user's currently typing on?

  • UISplitViewController, animating views

    - by Romeo Robles
Hello, I'm trying to animate my detail view controller to transition with a page curl (up/down). I'm trying to achieve a similar effect as the Notes application on the iPad, this transition was also reproduced by CulturedCode in their Things application for iPad. My problem is that the animation is clipped to the bounds of the Detail View Controller, it doesn't animate into the Master View Controller, therefore limiting the effect. I see that Apple and CulturedCode managed to make this happen, but I'm stumped. I've tried the following solutions: self.splitViewController.view.clipToBounds = False; self.view.clipToBounds = False; self.tableView.clipToBounds = False; The only other solution I can think of is discarding the UISplitViewController altogether and creating my own VC programmatically that will mimic the UISVC behavior so that both of the views (former separate view controllers) will share the same Super View. Thank you in advance, any advice will help. RR.

  • Clipping different parts of an image with path

    - by huggie
I've recently asked a question about clipping an image via path at view's drawRect method. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2570653/iphone-clip-image-with-path Krasnyk's code is copied below. - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { CGContextRef context = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGMutablePathRef path = CGPathCreateMutable(); //or for e.g. CGPathAddRect(path, NULL, CGRectInset([self bounds], 10, 20)); CGPathAddEllipseInRect(path, NULL, [self bounds]); CGContextAddPath(context, path); CGContextClip(context); CGPathRelease(path); [[UIImage imageNamed:@"GC.png"] drawInRect:[self bounds]]; } It works very well. However, when my image is larger than the view itself, how do I show different parts of the image? I tried tweaking around with translation on the locations (show as bounds above) of ellipse and/or UIImage drawInRect but some complex effects (Unwanted clipping, weird elipse size) I can't explain happens.

  • Issit possible to load a UIVIewcontroller from uiview of another UIViewController

    - by chako89
Guys, need your advise here. I have: an UIViewController A UIView B: I added subview which is a UIView to the UIViewController A an UIViewController C What I did is: in UIViewController A's viewDidLoad's method, I call this: UIView *subviewB = [[Subview alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 1024, 768)]; [subviewB subviewBMethod]; // [self.view addSubview:rsubviewB]; SubviewBMethod code is to create an view, inside this view have a button. Once this button is clicked, it will change to UIViewController C. I tried this: [self presentModalViewController:self.UIViewControllerC animated:YES]; And I got this error message: warning: incompatible Objective-C types 'struct UIViewControllerC *', expected 'struct UIViewController *' when passing argument 1 of 'presentModalViewController:animated:' from distinct Objective-C type When I run the app, it terminates immediately when I click the button, I opened the console bug, there is no any error message. My method must be wrong, thus my question is: Issit possible to load a UIVIewcontroller from uiview of another UIViewController? If: Yes: How to do it? No: What should I do? THank you =)

  • importing pywiiuse to test out

    - by Patrick Burton
This is probably a simple problem. But I downloaded the pywiiuse library from here and I also downloaded the examples. However when I try to run one of the examples I end up with import issues. I'm not certain I have everything configured properly to run. One error I receive when trying to run example.py: Press 1&2 Traceback (most recent call last): File "example.py", line 73, in <module> wiimotes = wiiuse.init(nmotes) File "/home/thed0ctor/Descargas/wiiuse-0.12/wiiuse/__init__.py", line 309, in init dll = ctypes.cdll.LoadLibrary('libwiiuse.so') File "/usr/lib/python2.7/ctypes/__init__.py", line 431, in LoadLibrary return self._dlltype(name) File "/usr/lib/python2.7/ctypes/__init__.py", line 353, in __init__ self._handle = _dlopen(self._name, mode) OSError: libwiiuse.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I'm really just starting out with this library and don't really see any documentation on how to configure pywiiuse so any help is much appreciated.

  • Use python decorators on class methods and subclass methods

    - by AlexH
Goal: Make it possible to decorate class methods. When a class method gets decorated, it gets stored in a dictionary so that other class methods can reference it by a string name. Motivation: I want to implement the equivalent of ASP.Net's WebMethods. I am building this on top of google app engine, but that does not affect the point of difficulty that I am having. How it Would look if it worked: class UsefulClass(WebmethodBaseClass): def someMethod(self, blah): print(blah) @webmethod def webby(self, blah): print(blah) # the implementation of this class could be completely different, it does not matter # the only important thing is having access to the web methods defined in sub classes class WebmethodBaseClass(): def post(self, methodName): webmethods[methodName]("kapow") ... a = UsefulClass() a.post("someMethod") # should error a.post("webby") # prints "kapow" There could be other ways to go about this. I am very open to suggestions

  • How to make the subview in a UIScrollView to refresh when we zoom it?

    - by wolverine
    I have subclassed UIView object inside a uiscrollview which displays a pdf page. I can zoom that page. But when I do so, the inside view is zoomed and is getting blurred. I understood that the inner view shud be refreshed and i called setNeedsDisplay. But no change have happened and its the same even now. Below is the code for drawRect for the subclassed uiview. - (void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { if(document)//the pdf document object { CGContextRef ctx = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext(); CGContextSaveGState(ctx); CGContextTranslateCTM(ctx, 0.00, [self bounds].size.height); NSLog(@"%f",[self bounds].size.height); CGContextScaleCTM(ctx, 1.0, -1.0); CGContextConcatCTM(ctx, CGPDFPageGetDrawingTransform(page, kCGPDFCropBox, [self bounds], 0, true)); CGContextDrawPDFPage(ctx, page); CGContextRestoreGState(ctx); } }

  • How can I access a method of the consumer class inside a method created at runtime in a method of th

    - by xxxxxxx
I define a method inside a parametrized role that needs to create a new class at run time using Moose::Meta::Class->create and apply that exact parametrized role to it. I am also making a new method for that role using $new_class->meta->add_method( some_name => sub { my ($self) = @_; ... }) inside the sub {...} I want to access a method of the consumer class and use it for something, I have tried using $self->get_method, it didn't work, how do I do this? Please notice that the $self inside the sub above is MooseX::Role::Parameterized::Meta::Role::Parameterizable I also have another question, if I do this: my $object = Moose::Meta::Class->create( "some_type", ); Why isn't $object of type some_type and it's some ugly MooseX::Role::Parameterized::Meta::Role::Parameterizable and how do I get to the object of type some_type?

  • Silverlight WCF with two-way SSL security certificates

    - by dlang
Dear All! I would like to implement a server - client software with the following security requirements: WCF-Services need to be secured with SSL and Certificates for both, the server and the client Client certificates need to be generated programmatically upon user registration Client-certificates are deployed via a an automatically generated installer-package Altough the client-certificates are self-signed (no authorized CA for the generation server) the end-user must not add the server-certificate to the trusted certificates in the local Certificate Store My problems: I cannot find any information regarding establishing such a two-way ssl-security for wcf, while the server-certificate is not signed by an authorized CA and instead is created programmatically with "makecert"... My question: Is it technically possible to implement this requirements? If yes - could you provide some hints how to get started? Thank you!

  • Why is my toolbar not visible when in landscape mode?

    - by mr-sk
My aim was to get the application functioning in both landscape and portrait mode, and all I could figure out to do it was this code below. The app was working fine in portrait, but when switched to landscape, the text wouldn't expand (to the right) to fill up the additional space. I made sure my springs/struts where set, and that the parents had "allowResizing" selected in IB. Here's what I've done instead: - (void) willAnimateSecondHalfOfRotationFromInterfaceOrientation:(UIInterfaceOrientation)fromInterfaceOrientation duration: (NSTimeInterval)duration { UIInterfaceOrientation toInterfaceOrientation = self.interfaceOrientation; if (toInterfaceOrientation == UIInterfaceOrientationPortrait) { self.myView.frame = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 320.0, 480.0); } else { self.myView.frame = CGRectMake(0.0, 0.0, 480.0, 256.0); } } Note that it looks just fine in portrait mode (toolbar appears): But the toolbar is gone in landscape mode: Any ideas?

  • SQlite: Column format for unix timestamp; Integer types

    - by SF.
Original problem: What is the right column format for a unix timestamp? The net is full of confusion: some posts claim SQLite has no unsigned types - either whatsoever, or with exception of the 64bit int type (but there are (counter-)examples that invoke UNSIGNED INTEGER). The data types page mentions it only in a bigint example. It also claims there is a 6-byte integer but doesn't give a name for it. Of course standard INTEGER being 4-byte signed signed stores unix timestamps as negative numbers. I've heard that some systems return 64-bit timestamps too. OTOH I'm not too fond of wasting 4 bytes to store 1 extra bit (top bit of timestamp), and even if I have to pick a bigger data format, I'd rather go for the 6-byte one. I've even seen a post that claims SQLite unix timestamp is of type REAL... Complete problem: Could someone please clarify that mess?

  • AVAudioPlayer not looping

    Hey guys, I have this code: - (id<SelfReleasingSound>) initWithFilepath: (NSString *) filepath { self = [super init]; if(self != nil){ NSData * soundFileData = [NSData dataWithContentsOfFile: filepath]; NSError * error; player = [[AVAudioPlayer alloc] initWithData: soundFileData error: &error]; if(error != nil){ JNLogAlert(@"Failed to load sound(%@)", filepath); } volume = 1.0; loops = 0; player.volume = volume; player.numberOfLoops = loops; [player prepareToPlay]; } return self; } - (void) play { player.numberOfLoops = loops; JNLogString(@"PLAYING: %D LOOPS", player.numberOfLoops); [player play]; } JNLogString is a wrapper for NSLog, and while my program says this: 2010-03-24 03:39:40.882 Bubbleeh[50766:207] JNSoundFile.m:40 PLAYING: 5 LOOPS It actually only plays 1 time, as if numberOfLoops were 0. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance,

  • Problem's running unittest test suite OO

    - by chrissygormley
Hello, I have a test suite to perform smoke tests. I have all my script stored in various classes but when I try and run the test suite I can't seem to get it working if it is in a class. The code is below: (a class to call the tests) from alltests import SmokeTests class CallTests(SmokeTests): def integration(self): self.suite() if __name__ == '__main__': run = CallTests() run.integration() And the test suite: class SmokeTests(): def suite(self): #Function stores all the modules to be tested modules_to_test = ('external_sanity', 'internal_sanity') alltests = unittest.TestSuite() for module in map(__import__, modules_to_test): alltests.addTest(unittest.findTestCases(module)) return alltests unittest.main(defaultTest='suite') This output's an error: Attribute Error: 'module' object has no attribute 'suite' So I can see how to call a normal function defined but I'm finding it difficult calling in the suite. In one of the tests the suite is set up like so: class InternalSanityTestSuite(unittest.TestSuite): # Tests to be tested by test suite def makeInternalSanityTestSuite(): suite = unittest.TestSuite() suite.addTest(TestInternalSanity("BasicInternalSanity")) suite.addTest(TestInternalSanity("VerifyInternalSanityTestFail")) return suite def suite(): return unittest.makeSuite(TestInternalSanity) Can anyone help me with getting this running? Thanks for any help in advance.

  • Silverlight 4 - elevated permission *inside* the browser

    - by Doug
I know Silverlight 4 can handle elevated permissions outside the browser. Is there a way to accomplish this inside the browser? I need to make a folder/file upload manager that gives a better user experience than the standard , and I'd like to implement it in Silverlight. I know Java has an option to gain elevated permissions, but you have to attach a signed certificate to your app. Does Silverlight 4 have a similar option - to gain elevated permissions by attaching a signed certificate (after warning the user, of course)? -Doug

  • Application creashing in saveAction of Coredata iphone sdk

    - by neha
Hi all, In my application I'm inserting data using Coredata like this: GoodWork * newGoodwork = (GoodWork *)[NSEntityDescription insertNewObjectForEntityForName:@"GoodWork" inManagedObjectContext:self.managedObjectContext]; // Step 2: Set Properties [newGoodwork setEletitle:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", aGoodwork.eletitle]]; [newGoodwork setEletxt:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@", aGoodwork.eletxt]]; [newGoodwork setSortId:[NSNumber numberWithInt:sortId]]; // Step 3: Save Object [self saveAction]; Everythinng is working fine but in saveAction which is: - (void)saveAction { NSError *error; if (![self.managedObjectContext save:&error]) { NSLog(@"Unresolved Core Data Save error %@, %@", error, [error userInfo]); exit(-1); } } My application is crashing after processing if condition. I'm not inserting all the fields in the entity "Goodwork". Can that be the reason? Thanx in advance.

  • python: subclass a metaclass

    - by Michael Konietzny
Hello, for putting methods of various classes into a global registry I'm using a decorator with a metaclass. The decorator tags, the metaclass puts the function in the registry: class ExposedMethod (object): def __init__(self, decoratedFunction): self._decoratedFunction = decoratedFunction def __call__(__self,*__args,**__kw): return __self._decoratedFunction(*__args,**__kw) class ExposedMethodDecoratorMetaclass(type): def __new__(mcs, name, bases, dct): for obj_name, obj in dct.iteritems(): if isinstance(obj, ExposedMethod): WorkerFunctionRegistry.addWorkerToWorkerFunction(obj_name, name) return type.__new__(mcs, name, bases, dct) class MyClass (object): __metaclass__ = DiscoveryExposedMethodDecoratorMetaclass @ExposeDiscoveryMethod def myCoolExposedMethod (self): pass I've now came to the point where two function registries are needed. The first thought was to subclass the metaclass and put the other registry in. For that the new method has simply to be rewritten. Since rewriting means redundant code this is not what I really want. So, it would be nice if anyone could name a way how to put an attribute inside of the metaclass which is able to be read when new is executed. With that the right registry could be put in without having to rewrite new. Thanks and Greetings, Michael

  • "java.security.AccessControlException: access denied" executing a signet Java Applet

    - by logoff
I have a little Java Applet and I have an annoying issue. I have signed my JAR with my own keystore using jarsigner tool (following these instructions). The Java Applet downloads a signed JAR and tries to launch it with an extended class of URLClassLoader. This JAR tries to execute this line of code: ClassLoader.getSystemClassLoader().getResource("aResource"); It fails with a large stack trace finished by: Caused by: java.security.AccessControlException: access denied ("java.lang.RuntimePermission" "getClassLoader") at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(AccessControlContext.java:366) at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(AccessController.java:555) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(SecurityManager.java:549) at java.lang.Thread.getContextClassLoader(Thread.java:1451) ... 21 more When the Java Applet is launched, the user is prompted to accept the certificate if he/she trusts the publisher: Even if I accept it, the exception occurred. Even if I install the certificate, and the prompt message is automatically accepted, the exception occurred. Any help would be appreciated!

Any help is appreciated. Thanks, James Jones

Anyone know why this might be?

  • Anonymous Methods / Lambda's (Coding Standards)

    - by Mystagogue
In Jeffrey Richter's "CLR via C#" (the .net 2.0 edtion page, 353) he says that as a self-discipline, he never makes anonymous functions longer than 3 lines of code in length. He cites mostly readability / understandability as his reasons. This suites me fine, because I already had a self-discipline of using no more than 5 lines for an anonymous method. But how does that "coding standard" advice stack against lambda's? At face value, I'd treat them the same - keeping a lambda equally as short. But how do others feel about this? In particular, when lambda's are being used where (arguably) they shine brightest - when used in LINQ statements - is there genuine cause to abandon that self-discipline / coding standard?

  • Interchanging presentModalViewController and pushViewController

The problem is that when I switch to pushViewController, the ViewController no displays properly. Functions in the ViewController are called, but I don't see anything. I change back to presentModalViewController and everything works. The question is what do I need to do to make pushViewController work? [self presentModalViewController:fcVC animated:YES]; // "WORKS" or B. [self.navigationController pushViewController:fcVC animated:YES]; // "Doesn't work
