    I am trying to alter column datatype of a primary key to tinyint from int.This column is a foreign key in other tables.So,I get the following error: Msg 5074, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The object 'PK_User_tbl' is dependent on column 'appId'. Msg 5074, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The object 'FK_Details_tbl_User_tbl' is dependent on column 'appId'. Msg 5074, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The object 'FK_Log_tbl_User_tbl' is dependent on column 'appId'. Msg 4922, Level 16, State 9, Line 1 ALTER TABLE ALTER COLUMN appId failed because one or more objects access this column. Howw should i rectify this?

    Take the PriorityQueue for example http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/util/PriorityQueue.html#offer(E) According to the Collection API entry http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api/java/util/Collection.html the add method will often seek to ensure that an element exists within the Collection rather than adding duplicates. So my question is, what is the difference between the add and offer methods? Is it that the Offer method will add duplicates regardless? (I doubt that it is because if a Collection should only have distinct elements this would circumvent that).

    I have 2 Tables, User and Mail. In User Table i have 2 columns that i will use, the ID column which makes the relation with the Mail Table and it is the Index of User Table and the Name column. In Mail Table i have Receiver Column and Sender Column. Both columns, Receiver and Sender have a number that relates to the ID Column in the User Table. In the User Table is where the name columns resides and i want to make a query that shows me the Receiver and Sender Columns but with the name of the user, not the ID. Up to this point i have this: SELECT name AS Send, name AS Receive FROM mail,user WHERE sender=guid; I know there is still a part of the query missing but i can not figure out what else to put to tell it to show in the SEND output column the name of the sender and in the RECEIVE output column the name of the receiver.

    I've created a window that has some containers and widgets in it, and I want to add a new widget dynamically at run-time to one of the Vboxes in this window. So I have this code, which brings up the window: gtk_builder_add_from_file( g_builder, "window.xml", NULL ); mainwindow = GTK_WIDGET( gtk_builder_get_object( g_builder, "window" )); gtk_widget_show( mainwindow ); Then I create a new label, for example, and add it to one of the existing Vboxes, called "vbox_mid", like this: label = gtk_label_new( "Test label" ); vbox = GTK_WIDGET( gtk_builder_get_object( g_builder, "vbox_mid" )); gtk_box_pack_end( GTK_BOX( vbox ), label, TRUE, TRUE, 0 ); But this doesn't seem to work. I don't see a new label in the vbox. I have a feeling I'm missing something here, but I can't see what it is. I thought perhaps there was a special GtkBuilder call to add a widget dynamically, but I don't see anything that looks like that. I would really appreciate any help on this.

    Hello, i'm trying to modify a property of a column (in sql server 2008 r2) which is of xml data type. I want set (Is full-text indexed) to yes, but after I do this and try to save changes, i get an error: 'Abc' table - Unable to modify table. Column: B is not full-text searchable. Column B is not the column I'm modyfing, but it's content is based on the modified xml column (it takes a value from one element in xml). Weird thing is that column B is full-text indexed (in table designer). Any ideas why i cannot apply changes to the xml column?

    My sql query returns back two columns, first column is "date created" and second column is "date updated", first column has a prior timestamp with respect to second column. I need to add a third column which can display business day hrs (9:00am to 5:00pm) response i.e. if date created is 2012-01-01 09:00:20 and "dated updated" is 4:00pm same day then third column should display 7 hrs If date created is 2012-01-01 16:00:20 (4:00pm) and "date updated" is 10:00m on 2012:01:02 (2nd Jan) then third column should display 2 hrs. It should exclude Saturday and Sunday. Can you please suggest appropriate SQL query for this.

  • SQL SERVER – World Shapefile Download and Upload to Database – Spatial Database

    During my recent, training I was asked by a student if I know a place where he can download spatial files for all the countries around the world, as well as if there is a way to upload shape files to a database. Here is a quick tutorial for it. VDS Technologies has all the spatial files for every location for free. You can download the spatial file from here. If you cannot find the spatial file you are looking for, please leave a comment here, and I will send you the necessary details. Unzip the file to a folder and it will have the following content. Then, download Shape2SQL tool from SharpGIS. This is one of the best tools available to convert shapefiles to SQL tables. Afterwards, run the .exe file. When the file is run for the first time, it will ask for the database properties. Provide your database details. Select the appropriate shape files and the tool will fill up the essential details automatically. If you do not want to create the index on the column, uncheck the box beside it. The screenshot below is simply explains the procedure. You also have to be careful regarding your data, whether that is GEOMETRY or GEOGRAPHY. In this example,  it is GEOMETRY data. Click “Upload to Database”. It will show you the uploading process. Once the shape file is uploaded, close the application and open SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). Run the following code in SSMS Query Editor. USE Spatial GO SELECT * FROM dbo.world GO This will show the complete map of world after you click on Spatial Results in Spatial Tab. In Spatial Results Set, the Zoom feature is available. From the Select label column, choose the country name in order to show the country name overlaying the country borders. Let me know if this tutorial is helpful enough. I am planning to write a few more posts about this later. Note: Please note that the images displayed here do not reflect the original political boundaries. These data are pretty old and can probably draw incorrect maps as well. I have personally spotted several parts of the map where some countries are located a little bit inaccurately.   • Any way to skip the huge apt-cache-update everytime a repository is added?

    I keep adding atleast one repository per day.! I like new stuff and to personalise my Ubuntu. But now evertime I add a repository,the apt cache needs to be updated and its almost a 10-15min update everyday.! Moreover its a lot data consuming. Is there any way or workaround so that the repository is updated in the apt-cache without updating other stuff? Also,sometimes i do not wish to install some updates at the given point of time due to my bandwidth limitations.But then if i have to add a repository,the updates are all installed in the sudo apt-get update command.. Would like any help. The bandwidth limit is actually a major issue for me.! Thanx :)

    Having a table with 60 columns, and 200 rows. Altering a BIT column from NULL to NOT NULL, now has a running execution time of over 3 hours. Why is this taking so long? This is the query that I'm execution: ALTER TABLE tbl ALTER COLUMN col BIT NOT NULL Is there a faster way to do it, besides creating a new column, updating it with values from the old column, then dropping the old column and renaming the new one? This is on MS SQL Server 2005.

If the name of the column changes in the entity's annotation, that "hidden dependency" breaks up. Is there a way in jpa to retrieve the real name of the column and have it available at compile time, so I can use it in queries?

    I am trying to store metadata (basically a unique id) along with each cell of a table in a Word document. Currently, for the add-in I'm developing, I am querying the database, and building a table inside the Word document using the data that is retrieved. I want to be able to save any of the user's edits to the document, and persist it back to the database. My initial thought was to store a unique id along with each cell in the table so that I would be able to tell which records to update. I would also like to store some sort of "isChanged" flag within each cell so that I could tell which cells were changed. I found that I could add the needed information into the "ID" property of the cell - however, that information was not retained if the user saved the document, closed it, and re-opened it. I then tried storing the data by adding a data to the "Fields" collection - but that did not work and threw a runtime error. Here is the code that I tried: object t1 = Word.WdFieldType.wdFieldEmpty; object val = "myValue: " + counter; object preserveFormatting = true; tbl.Cell(i, j).Range.Fields.Add(tbl.Cell(i, j).Range, ref t1, ref val, ref preserveFormatting); This compiles fine, but throws this runtime error "This command is not available". The vendor's add-in provides me with the parent window's integer handle. I am able to put up a form pretty easily with WinForms by adding are reference to System.Windows.Forms from my assembly and with the following code: FrmHistoryDisplay frm = new FrmHistoryDisplay(); frm.ShowDialog(new ParentWindowWrapper(_parentWindowHandle)); where ParentWindowWrapper is a shim class around the window handle I'm given private class ParentWindowWrapper : IWin32Window { private int _parentWindowHandle; public ParentWindowWrapper(int parentWindowHandle) { _parentWindowHandle = parentWindowHandle; } public IntPtr Handle { get { return new IntPtr(_parentWindowHandle); } } } The Form's ShowDialog method takes an IWin32Window implementor to wrap the parent's window handle. This all works and seems simple enough. I was just wondering whether something similar can be done with a WPF window rather than a WinForm Form? Should I care?
