  • Storing translation data as JSON column

    - by j0ntech
    We're deciding on how to store translations of some descriptions of database items. We could go the traditional way and keep a translations table (and a language table and an object_translation linking table) OR we thought it might be better to just have a Description column that contains JSON like the following: { "EN": "This is the translation in English", "EE" : "See on kirjeldus eesti keeles" } Are there any serious downsides as to why we shouldn't use this? (I haven't seen it being used anywhere else)

  • How to toggle a WPF Grid column visibility

    - by serialhobbyist
    I'm having some trouble getting this to work in a WPF app I'm working on. Basically, what I'm after is something like the Task pane in an MMC: The app has three columns in the main part of the display. I need a column on the right side which is resizable. I presume this means using a Grid with a GridSplitter but anything that works will do. I want to be able to save the width of the right-side column when the app is closed and load it when the app is opened but this should be an initial size: the user should be able to resize it. When I resize the window, I want the left- and right-side columns to stay the same size and the middle column to resize with the window width. The left- and right-side columns need to have a minimum width. When I resize the right-side column I want the centre column to get smaller but not the left-side column. I also want to be able to toggle the visibility of the right-side column with a toggle button which is outside the column and when it returns to visibility I want it to be the same width it was before. I'm trying to do as much as possible in XAML and with binding. And can I have it topped with cream, ice cream and chocolate chips, please? :-)

  • Changing label content programmatically from within a DataTemplate used in a DataGrid column header

    - by iimpact
    I'm dynamically creating DataGrid columns (based on an event from my ViewModel) and programmatically adding them to an existing DataGrid. Each column uses a generic HeaderTemplate by setting it to a DataTemplate that has been identified in the xaml. The DataTemplate contains two labels in which needs their content needs to be changed upon creation of the DataGrid column. How would this be done? I understand that the DataTemplate uses the ContentPresenter but I am having trouble accessing it within a dynamically created DataGrid column. Code is as follows: xaml: (template used to format the DataGrid column header): <DataTemplate x:Key="columnTemplate"> <StackPanel> <Label Padding="0" Name="labelA"/> <Separator HorizontalAlignment="Stretch"/> <Label Padding="0" Name="labelB"/> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> c#: (used to dynamically create a DataGrid column and add it to an existing DataGrid) var dataTemplate = FindResource("columnTemplate") as DataTemplate; var column = new DataGridTextColumn(); column.HeaderTemplate = dataTemplate; DataGrid1.Columns.Add(column); I would like to then access both labelA and labelB and change the content.

  • How to check data in a column separated by a colon (:)

    - by tonsils
    Hi, I have an Oracle database column, say col1, that has the following values: Col1 (A:B:C) I now need to come along and add to this Col1, only if it doesn’t exist, additional values but unsure how to go about checking to see if Col1 already contains these values. Scenario might be as follows: 1) Need to add B => Outcome=> check Col1 – B exists, do not add. 2) Need to add A:C => Outcome=> check Col1 – A and C exists, do not add. 3) Need to add C:D => Outcome=> check Col1 – C exists but D doesn’t, do not add C but need to add D 4) Need to add G => Outcome=> check Col1 – G doesn’t, need to add G Using Oracle sql or pl/sql I am unsure how to go about processing the above to ensure whether items exist or don’t exist and whether to add or not to add to Col1 Hoping someone can assist with a means of checking the data based on the above. Thanks

  • What add-in/workbench framework is the best .NET alternative to Eclipse RCP?

    - by Winston Fassett
    I'm looking for a plugin-based application framework that is comparable to the Eclipse Plugin Framework, which to my simple mind consists of: a core plugin management framework (Equinox / OSGI), which provides the ability to declare extension endpoints and then discover and load plugins that service those endpoints. (this is different than Dependency Injection, but admittedly the difference is subtle - configuration is highly de-centralized, there are versioning concerns, it might involve an online plugin repository, and most importantly to me, it should be easy for the user to add plugins without needing to know anything about the underlying architecture / config files) many layers of plugins that provide a basic workbench shell with concurrency support, commands, preference sheets, menus, toolbars, key bindings, etc. That is just scratching the surface of the RCP, which itself is meant to serve as the foundation of your application, which you build by writing / assembling even more plugins. Here's what I've gleaned from the internet in the past couple of days... As far as I can tell, there is nothing in the .NET world that remotely approaches the robustness and maturity of the Eclipse RCP for Java but there are several contenders that do either #1 or #2 pretty well. (I should also mention that I have not made a final decision on WinForms vs WPF, so I'm also trying to understand the level of UI coupling in any candidate framework. I'm also wondering about platform coupling and source code licensing) I must say that the open-source stuff is generally less-documented but easier to understand, while the MS stuff typically has more documentation but is less accessible, so that with many of the MS technologies, I'm left wondering what they actually do, in a practical sense. These are the libraries I have found: SharpDevelop The first thing I looked at was SharpDevelop, which does both #1 and also #2 in a basic way (no insult to SharpDevelop, which is admirable - I just mean more basic than Eclipse RCP). However, SharpDevelop is an application more than a framework, and there are basic assumptions and limitations there (i.e. being somewhat coupled to WinForms). Still, there are some articles on CodeProject explaining how to use it as the foundation for an application. System.Addins It appears that System.Addins is meant to provide a robust add-in loading framework, with some sophisticated options for loading assemblies with varying levels of trusts and even running the out of process. It appears to be primarily code-based, and pretty code-heavy, with lots of assemblies that serve to insulate against versioning issues., using Guidance Automation to generate a good deal of code. So far I haven't found many System.AddIns articles that illustrate how it could be used to build something like an Eclipse RCP, and many people seem to be wringing their hands about its complexity. Mono.Addins It appears that Mono.Addins was influenced by System.Addins, SharpDevelop, and MonoDevelop. It seems to provide the basics from System.Addins, with less sophisticated options for plugin loading, but more simplicity, with attribute-based registration, XML manifests, and the infrastructure for online plugin repositories. It has a pretty good FAQ and documentation, as well as a fairly robust set of examples that really help paint a picture of how to develop an architecture like that of SharpDevelop or Eclipse. The examples use GTK for UI, but the framework itself is not coupled to GTK. So it appears to do #1 (add-in loading) pretty well and points the way to #2 (workbench framework). It appears that Mono.Addins was derived from MonoDevelop, but I haven't actually looked at whether MonoDevelop provides a good core workbench framework. Managed Extensibility Framework This is what everyone's talking about at the moment, and it's slowly getting clearer what it does, but I'm still pretty fuzzy, even after reading several posts on SO. The official word is that it "can live side-by-side" with System.Addins. However, it doesn't reference it and it appears to reproduce some of its functionality. It seems to me, then, that it is a simpler, more accessible alternative to System.Addins. It appears to be more like Mono.Addins in that it provides attribute-based wiring. It provides "catalogs" that can be attribute-based or directory-based. It does not seem to provide any XML or manifest-based wiring. So far I haven't found much documentation and the examples seem to be kind of "magical" and more reminiscent of attribute-based DI, despite the clarifications that MEF is not a DI container. Its license just got opened up, but it does reference WindowsBase -- not sure if that means it's coupled to Windows. Acropolis I'm not sure what this is. Is it MEF, or something that is still coming? Composite Application Blocks There are WPF and Winforms Composite Application blocks that seem to provide much more of a workbench framework. I have very little experience with these but they appear to rely on Guidance Automation quite a bit are obviously coupled with the UI layers. There are a few examples of combining MEF with these application blocks. I've done the best I could to answer my own question here, but I'm really only scratching the surface, and I don't have experience with any of these frameworks. Hopefully some of you can add more detail about the frameworks you have experience with. It would be great if we could end up with some sort of comparison matrix.

  • How do I add values to semi-complex JSON object?

    - by Nick Verheijen
    I'm fairly new to using JSON objects and I'm kinda stuck. I've got an JSON object that was converted from this array: Array ( [status] => success [id] => 1 [name] => Zone 1 [description] => Awesome zone deze.. [tiles] => Array ( // Column for the tile grid [0] => Array ( // Row for the tile grid [0] => Array ( [tileID] => 1 [rotation] => 0 ) [1] => Array ( [tileID] => 1 [rotation] => 0 ) // Etc.. ) [1] => Array // etc.. etc.. ) ) I use this object to render out an isometric grid for my HTML5 Canvas game. I'm building a map editor and to put more tiles on the map, i'll have to add values to this json object. This is how I would do it in PHP: mapData[column][row] = array( 'tileID' => 1, 'rotation' => 0 ); So my question is, how do I achieve this with a JSON object in javascript? Thanks in advance! Nick Update I've ran into an error: can't convert undefined to object mapDataTiles[mouseY][mouseX] = { tileID: editorSelectedTile, rotation: 0 }; This is the code i use for clicking & then saving the new tile to the JSON object. At first I though that one of my parameters was 'undefined', so i logged those to the console but they came out perfectly.. // If there is already a tile placed on these coordinates if( mapDataTiles[mouseX] && mapDataTiles[mouseX][mouseY] ) { mapDataTiles[mouseX][mouseY]['tileID'] = editorSelectedTile; } // If there is no tile placed on these coordinates else { mapDataTiles[mouseX][mouseY] = { tileID: editorSelectedTile, rotation: 0 }; } My variables have the following values: MouseX: 5 MouseY: 17 tileID: 2 Also weird fact, that for some coordinates it does actually work and save new data to the array. mapDataTiles[mouseY][mouseX] = { tileID: editorSelectedTile, rotation: 0 };

  • Any way to make a generic List where I can add a type AND a subtype?

    - by user383178
    I understand why I cannot do the following: private class Parent { }; private class Child extends Parent { }; private class GrandChild extends Child { }; public void wontCompile(List<? extends Parent> genericList, Child itemToAdd) { genericList.add(itemToAdd); } My question is there ANY practical way to have a typesafe List where you can call add(E) where E is known to be only a Parent or a Child? I vaguely remember some use of the "|" operator as used for wildcard bounds, but I cannot find it in the spec... Thanks!

  • Minecraft Style Chunk building problem

    - by David Torrey
    I'm having some problems with speed in my chunk engine. I timed it out, and in its current state it takes a total ~5 seconds per chunk to fill each face's list. I have a check to see if each face of a block is visible and if it is not visible, it skips it and moves on. I'm using a dictionary (unordered map) because it makes sense memorywise to just not have an entry if there is no block. I've tracked my problem down to testing if there is an entry, and accessing an entry if it does exist. If I remove the tests to see if there is an entry in the dictionary for an adjacent block, or if the block type itself is seethrough, it runs within about 2-4 milliseconds. so here's my question: Is there a faster way to check for an entry in a dictionary than .ContainsKey()? As an aside, I tried TryGetValue() and it doesn't really help with the speed that much. If I remove the ContainsKey() and keep the test where it does the IsSeeThrough for each block, it halves the time, but it's still about 2-3 seconds. It only drops to 2-4ms if I remove BOTH checks. Here is my code: using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Threading.Tasks; using System.Runtime.InteropServices; using OpenTK; using OpenTK.Graphics.OpenGL; using System.Drawing; namespace Anabelle_Lee { public enum BlockEnum { air = 0, dirt = 1, } [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential,Pack=1)] public struct Coordinates<T1> { public T1 x; public T1 y; public T1 z; Hello guys, Basically im trying to do a Insurance Application form in java. • JDeveloper 11.1.2 : Command Link in Table Column Work Around

    - by Frank Nimphius
    Just figured that in Oracle JDeveloper 11.1.2, clicking on a command link in a table does not mark the table row as selected as it is the behavior in previous releases of Oracle JDeveloper. For the time being, the following work around can be used to achieve the "old" behavior: To mark the table row as selected, you need to build and queue the table selection event in the code executed by the command link action listener. To queue a selection event, you need to know about the rowKey of the row that the command link that you clicked on is located in. To get to this information, you add an f:attribute tag to the command link as shown below <af:column sortProperty="#{bindings.DepartmentsView1.hints.DepartmentId.name}" sortable="false"    headerText="#{bindings.DepartmentsView1.hints.DepartmentId.label}" id="c1">   <af:commandLink text="#{row.DepartmentId}" id="cl1" partialSubmit="true"       actionListener="#{BrowseBean.onCommandItemSelected}">     <f:attribute name="rowKey" value="#{row.rowKey}"/>   </af:commandLink>   ... </af:column> The f:attribute tag references #{row.rowKey} wich in ADF translates to JUCtrlHierNodeBinding.getRowKey(). This information can be used in the command link action listener to compose the RowKeySet you need to queue the selected row. For simplicitly reasons, I created a table "binding" reference to the managed bean that executes the command link action. The managed bean code that is referenced from the af:commandLink actionListener property is shown next: public void onCommandItemSelected(ActionEvent actionEvent) {   //get access to the clicked command link   RichCommandLink comp = (RichCommandLink)actionEvent.getComponent();   //read the added f:attribute value   Key rowKey = (Key) comp.getAttributes().get("rowKey");     //get the current selected RowKeySet from the table   RowKeySet oldSelection = table.getSelectedRowKeys();   //build an empty RowKeySet for the new selection   RowKeySetImpl newSelection = new RowKeySetImpl();     //RowKeySets contain List objects with key objects in them   ArrayList list = new ArrayList();   list.add(rowKey);   newSelection.add(list);     //create the selectionEvent and queue it   SelectionEvent selectionEvent = new SelectionEvent(oldSelection, newSelection, table);   selectionEvent.queue();     //refresh the table   AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(table); }

  • VBA: How go I get the total width from all controls in an MS-Access form?

    - by Stefan Åstrand
    Hi, This is probably very basic stuff, but please bear in mind I am completely new to these things. I am working on a procedure for my Access datasheet forms that will: Adjust the width of each column to fit content Sum the total width of all columns and subtract it from the size of the window's width Adjust the width of one of the columns to fit the remaining space This is the code that adjusts the width of each column to fit content (which works fine): Dim Ctrl As Control Dim Path As String Dim ClmWidth As Integer 'Adjust column width to fit content For Each Ctrl In Me.Controls If TypeOf Ctrl Is TextBox Then Path = Ctrl.Name Me(Path).ColumnWidth = -2 End If Next Ctrl How should I write the code so I get the total width of all columns? Thanks a lot! Stefan Solution This is the code that makes an Access datasheet go from this: To this: Sub AdjustColumnWidth(frm As Form, clm As String) On Error GoTo HandleError Dim intWindowWidth As Integer ' Window width property Dim ctrl As Control ' Control Dim intCtrlWidth As Integer ' Control width property Dim intCtrlSum As Integer ' Control width property sum Dim intCtrlAdj As Integer ' Control width property remaining after substracted intCtrSum 'Adjust column width to standard width For Each ctrl In frm.Controls If TypeOf ctrl Is TextBox Or TypeOf ctrl Is CheckBox Or TypeOf ctrl Is ComboBox Then Path = ctrl.Name frm(Path).ColumnWidth = 1500 End If Next ctrl 'Get total column width For Each ctrl In frm.Controls If TypeOf ctrl Is TextBox Or TypeOf ctrl Is CheckBox Or TypeOf ctrl Is ComboBox Then Path = ctrl.Name intCtrlWidth = frm(Path).ColumnWidth If Path <> clm Then intCtrlSum = intCtrlSum + intCtrlWidth End If End If Next ctrl 'Adjust column to fit window intWindowWidth = frm.WindowWidth - 270 intCtrlAdj = intWindowWidth - intCtrlSum frm.Width = intWindowWidth frm(clm).ColumnWidth = intCtrlAdj Debug.Print "Totalt (Ctrl): " & intCtrlSum Debug.Print "Totalt (Window): " & intWindowWidth Debug.Print "Totalt (Remaining): " & intCtrlAdj Debug.Print "clm : " & clm HandleError: GeneralErrorHandler Err.Number, Err.Description Exit Sub End Sub Code to call procedure: Private Sub Form_Load() Call AdjustColumnWidth(Me, "txtDescription") End Sub

  • Need an Overview of Possibilities for multicolumn programming

    - by Sam
    Hi folks, From source1 and source2 i gather that IE9 will NOT support multi-column css3!! Since it is still the most popular browser (another thing i cannot understand), i am left but no other choice than to use Programming Power to make multi-columns work. Now, I use three divs that float to left, and which are manually filled with text. Please don't laugh i know its stupid! But I would wish to not to have to worry about the columns and just have a one piece of (un-interrupted) text which all goes into only 1 div, and then have a program smart enough to split it up into X equally wide columns. Question: before i start reinvent the wheel, what methods of programming power have you known that tackle this elegantly? Please suggest your best working multi-column layout sources so I can evaluate which option is the best (I will update the below table). Exploring all possibilities 2011 and further, to enable multi column text user experience: Language Author SourceCodeUsage WorksOnAllMajorBrowser? ================================================================================= html manual labour put text manually in separate left-floating divs "Y" // Upside: control! Downside: few changes necessitates to reflow 3 divs manually! CSS3 w3c css3.info/preview/multi-column-layout/ "N" // {-moz-column-count: 3; -webkit-column-count: 3; } Thats all! javascript a list apart will add url soon ? // php ? ? ? //

  • SQLAuthority News – Guest Post – Performance Counters Gathering using Powershell

    - by pinaldave
    Laerte Junior Laerte Junior has previously helped me personally to resolve the issue with Powershell installation on my computer. He did awesome job to help. He has send this another wonderful article regarding performance counter for readers of this blog. I really liked it and I expect all of you who are Powershell geeks, you will like the same as well. As a good DBA, you know that our social life is restricted to a few movies over the year and, when possible, a pizza in a restaurant next to your company’s place, of course. So what we have to do is to create methods through which we can facilitate our daily processes to go home early, and eventually have a nice time with our family (and not sleeping on the couch). As a consultant or fixed employee, one of our daily tasks is to monitor performance counters using Perfmom. To be honest, IDE is getting more complicated. To deal with this, I thought a solution using Powershell. Yes, with some lines of Powershell, you can configure which counters to use. And with one more line, you can already start collecting data. Let’s see one scenario: You are a consultant who has several clients and has just closed another project in troubleshooting an SQL Server environment. You are to use Perfmom to collect data from the server and you already have its XML configuration files made with the counters that you will be using- a file for memory bottleneck f, one for CPU, etc. With one Powershell command line for each XML file, you start collecting. The output of such a TXT file collection is set to up in an SQL Server. With two lines of command for each XML, you make the whole process of data collection. Creating an XML configuration File to Memory Counters: Get-PerfCounterCategory -CategoryName "Memory" | Get-PerfCounterInstance  | Get-PerfCounterCounters |Save-ConfigPerfCounter -PathConfigFile "c:\temp\ConfigfileMemory.xml" -newfile Creating an XML Configuration File to Buffer Manager, counters Page lookups/sec, Page reads/sec, Page writes/sec, Page life expectancy: Get-PerfCounterCategory -CategoryName "SQLServer:Buffer Manager" | Get-PerfCounterInstance | Get-PerfCounterCounters -CounterName "Page*" | Save-ConfigPerfCounter -PathConfigFile "c:\temp\BufferManager.xml" –NewFile Then you start the collection: Set-CollectPerfCounter -DateTimeStart "05/24/2010 08:00:00" -DateTimeEnd "05/24/2010 22:00:00" -Interval 10 -PathConfigFile c:\temp\ConfigfileMemory.xml -PathOutputFile c:\temp\ConfigfileMemory.txt To let the Buffer Manager collect, you need one more counters, including the Buffer cache hit ratio. Just add a new counter to BufferManager.xml, omitting the new file parameter Get-PerfCounterCategory -CategoryName "SQLServer:Buffer Manager" | Get-PerfCounterInstance | Get-PerfCounterCounters -CounterName "Buffer cache hit ratio" | Save-ConfigPerfCounter -PathConfigFile "c:\temp\BufferManager.xml" And start the collection: Set-CollectPerfCounter -DateTimeStart "05/24/2010 08:00:00" -DateTimeEnd "05/24/2010 22:00:00" -Interval 10 -PathConfigFile c:\temp\BufferManager.xml -PathOutputFile c:\temp\BufferManager.txt You do not know which counters are in the Category Buffer Manager? Simple! Get-PerfCounterCategory -CategoryName "SQLServer:Buffer Manager" | Get-PerfCounterInstance | Get-PerfCounterCounters Let’s see one output file as shown below. It is ready to bulk insert into the SQL Server. As you can see, Powershell makes this process incredibly easy and fast. Do you want to see more examples? • How to UNIX sort by one column only?

    - by ssn
    I know that the -k option for the Unix sort allow us to sort by a specific column and all of the following. For instance, given the input file: 2 3 2 2 1 2 2 1 1 1 Using sort -n -k 1, I get an output sorted by the 1st column and then by the 2nd: 1 1 1 2 2 1 2 2 2 3 However, I want to keep the 2nd column ordering, like this: 1 2 1 1 2 3 2 2 2 1 Is this possible with the sort command?

  • Thunderbird 3: can't change column width?

    - by rumtscho
    I recently installed Thunderbird 3.0.3. Just noticed a suboptimal UI setting: in the upper pane, which lists the e-mails in the current folder, the Date column is about 200px wide. So when I keep the window at 480x600, all I see in a row is: | tree icon | favourites icon | attachment icon | read icon | junk icon | Date and time, followed by 5cm whitespace | ... | P Where "P" is the first letter of the name of the sender. And the "..." is actually shown this way, I have no idea which column it is meant to be. But I don't see neither the sender, nor the message subject, which makes scrolling a folder for a certain mail rather pointless. I see these when I maximize the window, actually the columns are then not only bigger, they are arranged in another sequence. But I feel that holding a mail client permanently maximised at 1600x1200 is a waste of screen real estate. My naive solution attempt was to try to go with the mouse cursor to the right edge of the date column and try to shrink it by moving the cursor left while holding down the left mouse button. Not only is this default behaviour for all resizable columns I've ever encountered in GUIs, the cursor actually turns into a horizontal double-headed arrow. But pulling has no effect at all. I cannot make a wide column narrow, and I cannot make the narrow columns wide. I didn't find anything in the preferences either. So can please somebody explain how to get the columns arranged sensibly? Edit: I found out that I only have the problem when I drag the Thunderbird window to a GridMove screen area. It gets automatically resized, but doesn't notice the resize event or something, so the column width remains the same as under a maximized window. First making the window narrow using the mouse helps with column width, but the width of the mail pane is still too wide (rows don't reflow). Anyway, this seems to be a bug caused by the combination of the two applications and not a configuration problem, so I guess I'll have to live with it.

  • Highlighting duplicate column-pair and counting the rows Excel

    - by pleasehelpme
    Given the data below, the column-pair with the same values for at least 4 consecutive rows should be highlighted. image here for better visualization: http://i49.tinypic.com/2jeshtt.jpg 2 2 3 4 3 4 3 4 3 4 2 3 1 2 2 2 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 2 3 2 3 2 3 2 3 2 2 3 4 3 4 3 4 3 4 3 4 The output should be something like this, where the column-pair values that are the same for at least 4 consecutive rows are highlighted. image here for better visualization: http://i48.tinypic.com/i2lzc8.jpg 2 2 3 4 3 4 3 4 3 4 2 3 1 2 2 2 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 3 2 3 2 3 2 3 2 3 2 2 3 4 3 4 3 4 3 4 3 4 Then, I need to know the number of instances of the N-consecutive equal column-pair. Considering the data above, N=4 should be 3 and N=5 should be 1, where N is the number of rows that the column-pair is consecutively equal.

  • Excel 2007: "Format as Table" Increments Column Names

    - by Mark
    I love using the formatting styles for tables in Excel 2007, but in my data I'm using the same column name for multiple columns. When I format my table using the pre-defined styles, it automatically adds an incremental number to each subsequent column name which I don't want. Is there any way to stop this from happening? If I attempt to manually rename the column back to the original name, it automatically appends the incremented number.

  • Fill rows down quickly (column or matrix of zeros)

    - by Mark Miller
    I have an extremely basic question, but I have never found the answer by searching the internet. I simply want to create a large column of zeros with Excel. Sometimes I want to create a huge matrix of zeros (maybe 600 rows by 500 columns) and then replace a few zeros with 1's to create a model design matrix. I have always started by creating a column of, for example, 10 zeros, copying and pasting those zeroes, then copying and pasting the resulting column of 20 zeros, etc., until I had the desired number of rows. Then I would copy and paste that column of zeros one at a time over and over until I had the desired number of columns. This procedure is tedious and time-consuming and I know there must be an easier way. Do you know of any other methods?

  • How do I display a Wicket Datatable, sorted by a specific column by default?

    - by David
    Hello everyone! I have a question regarding Wicket's Datatable. I am currently using DataTable to display a few columns of data. My table is set up as follows: DataTable<Column> dataTable = new DataTable<Column>("columnsTable", columns, provider, maxRowsPerPage) { @Override protected Item<Column> newRowItem(String id, int index, IModel<Column> model) { return new OddEvenItem<Column>(id, index, model); } }; The columns look like so: columns[0] = new PropertyColumn<Column>(new Model<String>("Description"), "description", "description"); columns[1] = new PropertyColumn<Column>(new Model<String>("Logic"), "columnLogic"); columns[2] = new PropertyColumn<Column>(new Model<String>("Type"), "dataType", "dataType"); Here is my column data provider: public class ColumnSortableDataProvider extends SortableDataProvider<Column> { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; private List<Column> list = null; public ColumnSortableDataProvider(Table table) { this.list = Arrays.asList(table.getColumns().toArray(new Column[0])); } public ColumnSortableDataProvider(List<Column> list) { this.list = list; } @Override public Iterator<? extends Column> iterator(int first, int count) { /* first - first row of data count - minimum number of elements to retrieve So this method returns an iterator capable of iterating over {first, first+count} items */ Iterator<Column> iterator = null; try { if(getSort() != null) { Collections.sort(list, new Comparator<Column>() { private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L; @Override public int compare(Column c1, Column c2) { int result=1; PropertyModel<Comparable> model1= new PropertyModel<Comparable>(c1, getSort().getProperty()); PropertyModel<Comparable> model2= new PropertyModel<Comparable>(c2, getSort().getProperty()); if(model1.getObject() == null && model2.getObject() == null) result = 0; else if(model1.getObject() == null) result = 1; else if(model2.getObject() == null) result = -1; else result = ((Comparable)model1.getObject()).compareTo(model2.getObject()); result = getSort().isAscending() ? result : -result; return result; } }); } if (list.size() > (first+count)) iterator = list.subList(first, first+count).iterator(); else iterator = list.iterator(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } return iterator; } Sorting by clicking a column works perfectly, but I would like the table to initially be sorted, by default, by the Description column. I am at a loss to do this. If you need to see some other code, please let me know. Thank you in advance!!! - D

  • SQL SERVER – Generate Database Script for SQL Azure

    - by pinaldave
    When talking about SQL Azure the common complain I hear is that the script generated from stand-along SQL Server database is not compatible with SQL Azure. This was true for some time for sure but not any more. If you have SQL Server 2008 R2 installed you can follow the guideline below to generate script which is compatible with SQL Azure. As above images are very clear I will not write more about them. SQL Azure does not support filegroups. Let us generate script for any table created on PRIMARY filegroup for standalong SQL Server and compare it with the script generated for SQL Azure. You can clearly see that there is no filegroup in the code generated for SQL Azure. Give it a try and please your comment here about what do you think about the same. • NHibernate HiLo - new column per entity and HiLo catches

    - by Gareth
    Im currently using the hilo id generator for my classes but have just been using the minimal of settings eg <class name="ClassA" <id name="Id" column="id" unsaved-value="0" <generator class="hilo" / </id ... But should I really be specifying a new column for NHibernate to use foreach entity and providing it with a max lo? <class name="ClassA" <id name="Id" column="id" unsaved-value="0" <generator class="hilo" <param name="table"hibernate_unique_key</param <param name="column"classA_nexthi</param <param name="max_lo"20</param </generator </id ... <class name="ClassB" <id name="Id" column="id" unsaved-value="0" <generator class="hilo" <param name="table"hibernate_unique_key</param <param name="column"classB_nexthi</param <param name="max_lo"20</param </generator </id ... Also I've noticed that when I do the above the SchemaExport will not create all the columns - only classB_nexthi, is there something else im doing wrong. Thanks
