  • How can I use a .html file as desktop background/wallpaper?

    I have one of those underpowered netbooks with Lubuntu. I also have an iPod Touch. I'd like the best of both worlds. So I would like to create an active html wallpaper with beautiful little squared icons to launch my webapps through Chromium/Firefox. I've read a bit, but it looks like there isn't really anything that would allow for that. Why? Does anyone have any other alternatives (apart from buying an iPad)? :)

    Im thinking of buying a Cocos2D tutorial book called:Learn Cocos2d Game Development With Ios 5 I would buy it but it mentions something about KoboldTouch? Is this some sort of really simple way of coding a game? I wanna do it the best way possible to learn. What would be the best way?     Does anyone have experience with the XFX Radeon HD 6870 on Ubuntu 11.10? I've googled and the best I could find was someone getting the card to 'work' on linux. Nothing specific about ubuntu and this card. Specifically, I want to be able to use the full 1900x1200 resolution and watch 1080p movies. If yes, was it very complicated to get working? Note: I do not have the card yet, I am debating buying it, but would like to know beforehand because there is a restocking fee if I have to return it. Thanks.

    I'm looking to register a few more domains for my company, I have my-company.com at the moment, but now require my-company.com.au and my-company.nl and some others.. I'm running through my options and wondering what is the best.. Duplicate all the content on the .com package and make a replica at the other domains Buy the other domains but do a 301 redirect back to the .com domain. Create a full new website with different content for the new domains, thus having no text duplication We currently sell over the world so would like to raise our Search rankings in various countries, can this be done by buying the domain in the country, and if so, how will the above methods affect our search rankings.   • More than 2gb of Music without paid plan possible?

    Hi there, I do not have a paid plan for UbuntuOne and do not intend of buying one, but I do like to buy music from the UbuntuOne Music Store. Is it possible to buy music, once I bought more than 2gb or would I have to move the music out of the UbuntuOne share? In this case, I would suggest to put the music in the official ubuntuone-folder instead of a hidden one. Non-technical users will not understand, why their shared music files are not in this folder, but others are popping up there (e.g. in the webinterface). Best Regards, Lars

  • Hide from google while developing

    I will be building a (wordpress) web site. While I am developing, other team members will be pushing content. I'd like to have it hidden from google while under development. It will be hosted on godaddy. I have thought of not pointing the domain name to it until live and using "preview dns", or buying a static IP during development. Or hosting dev site in a sub-directory ("/dev/") until ready and then moving it up a level. If in the dev directory I'd add htaccess or robots.txt to not crawl. Is any of this a bad idea? Will google penalize for any of this - like search by IP and then associate that with the domain later on? Any better ideas?

    I am looking to a book covering adavnced programming techniques, covering different practical scenarios and describing the different challanges with the relative solutions. As example, which are the best ways to implement a module for buying on a web application with credit card or how to manage responsivenes for the frontend of the web application itself (dealing with cache, optimeze plugins, etc). On the web there are tons of tutorials about these topics, but I am looking for a book where such cases are collected all together and treated by real professionists. If the book would provide some code samples, that would be a plus (especially if C# .NET), but I am more interested in the approach/solution rather than the code details. I could not find any of these cases in the general book about programming, therefore I hope someone might point me in the right direction. EDIT: I have 4 years experience as web developer, mainly with Microsoft (C#, ASP.NET, SQL Server) and client side technologies (jQuery, HTML/CSS).

    I am going to be buying a second hard drive for my desktop here pretty soon, because my current hard drive is a piece of junk running windows 7. So, how do I start learning programming from scratch? in other words, what are the steps for absolute beginner to learn programming the right way?
