  Hello, I have Ubuntu Lucid Lynx installed, Using Gnome 2.30.0 I'm using a Laptop, HP Pavilion dv9000 I've stumbled on responsiveness issues with my keyboard, Sometimes it's really obvious - the keyboard doesn't respond fast enough to my typing. Checked sticky keys and all that, it's all disabled of course. Now, I also checked on Windows to see if the problem is Hardware or something, and there are no responsiveness issues there... I'm thinking it's Gnome (or the X). Thanks.

  From this article I have learnt, that DWM is enabled only with AERO: Let’s recall: without Aero turned on, the DWM is deactivated, so there’s also no more 2D acceleration, either (this applies equally to Windows 7 as it does to Vista) What is the easiest way to tell whether AERO / DWM on Win 7 is enabled / disabled? With some themes it is (visually) obvious, but with some others not (especially not when using remote access like VNC). Is there some dialog where I can see that AERO / DWM is enabled / disabled?

  No obvious problems with my Mac OS X 10.5 system, but Drive Genius 1.5.1 says: "Invalid catalog btree reverse link in node" when doing a "Verify" The "repair" and "rebuild" options fail. I did some googling, and the consensus as: 1- Drive Genius is slightly better than Disk Warrior 2- This problem is likely not fixable. My assumed solution is that I should do a full backup and re-format.

  My Lenovo x100e laptop has a "4-in-1" card reader that's supposed to handle SD/SDHC, MMC, Memory Stick and MS Pro, but I can't insert my SDHC card (a "SANDISK SECURE DIGITAL EXTREME SDHC 16GB 30MB/S"). It enters a bit and looks lite it will fit, but then it doesn't get any further in (and yes, I've tried to turn it around). It really doesn't move, and I'm afraid to break something if I push harder. Am I missing something obvious here?

  I need to cross-reference data involving a large number of IP addresses against known public proxies, spam-listed IPs etc. For obvious performance and network load reasons, obtaining a regularly updated dump for off-line processing would be preferrable. I currently use http://www.dnsbl.manitu.net/download/nixspam-ip.dump.gz - a digest of ix.dnsbl.manitu.net with 40,000 entries updated every 15 minutes. I'd like something more substantial though, so my question is: does such a thing exist?

• How can I disable the IR/Remote Control on an HP Laptop?

  I've seen this happen on 2 different HP laptops now. If I try to use them in the same room as a Media Center, the MCE TV remote keeps sending commands to the laptop. This can do anything from wake it up and turn it on to just moving the selection around. There is no obvious way to disable the IR sensor or at least its response to the remote. Does anyone know how to do this?

  Using Totem Video Player v2.26.1 on Ubuntu Jaunty 9.04, dvd's won't play after I've installed libdvdread4, added the Medibuntu packages, and run sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh If I click on the dvd I get an error *"Could not read from resource". If I navigate to one of the videos directly and run it, the movie will play, but with obvious degradation or encryption (like cable tv you aren't paying for).

Anything else the utility can inform or do is a plus. (If the battery meter taskbar icon is turned off by an admin it does not appear for non-admin users.   I use Ubuntu 9.10, and the MiniSD card shows as having the space used as if there were files. Baobab (the disk usage analyzer) shows that the card only has 118 MB used (of the 401 Ubuntu claims there are). Of course, I already tried the obvious (rebooting the phone, adding and removing files, etc.), but I don't want to format my card, because I still have some files on it, the transfer to my computer is slow, and because I use an old wire it fails often.

• What Triggers a syncronization between Exchange 2007 Mail Store and Edge Servers?

  We are using Exchange 2007 for our mail. In our configuration, we need to add an alias to each users mailbox. When we do, the Edge server, another Exchange 2007 box, will reject the alias with a User Unknown error until the next morning. I seem to recall that in Exchange 2003, you could force an update from the Management console, but I can not find a way in 2007. It is obvious that a sync job is scheduled to run each night, but I cannot find it.

  Using the standard "Combined" log format, when Apache returns a 301 response it logs it in the access log, which is good, but it only logs the response code. It doesn't log the location to which the client is being directed. What argument do I need to add to the CustomLog format in order to get it to log this information?   Hi, Why is that a hypervisor, which alledgedly needs to be on physical hardware, can be deployed within a VM? For example, XenServer (the actual hypervisor) can be deployed in an ESX VM? Why is this possible (Although not a good idea for many reasons, but still works). Also, why do people say a hypervisor needs physical hardware (from an architectural point of view, rather than obvious performance reasons). Thanks
