• Apache only logs PHP errors if LogLevel is set to debug

  I'm developing a CodeIgniter application and for reasons that I do not fully understand errors have stopped being logged in the file specified in the Apache site conf. The page I'm testing is definitely generating a 500 error, but that is not reflected in the logs unless I set LogLevel debug. Setting LogLevel to error or warn results in no errors being logged. I don't think this is a CI issue because I've been developing this site for close to a week now and errors have been logged as expected until I picked the project up again this morning. Though for what it's worth, I've got: error_reporting(E_ALL); set in my index.php.

  I have a virtual machine(Ubuntu 12.04, MySQL 5.5) running under VMware and is dedicated to host a mysql server. I connect to this server on internal IP. I'm trying to find out why I get mysql server has gone error. One my windows machines apache it stops because of this issue. • How to debug old initd script under systemd?

  I have an older initd script to start my application. It worked fine under older versions of SuSE, but fails on Open SuSE 12.3. The strange thing is cd /etc/init.d ; ./script start works fine. /etc/init.d/script start shows a redirection to systemctl, but doesn't start my application (and also doesn't show any output from the initd script). I don't see any log entries showing me what goes wrong. The only entry I see is in /var/log/messages saying the application was started. How do I debug this ?

• how to debug BSOD irql_not_less_or_equal error

  So I'm getting the irql_not_less_or_equal BSOD. I tried looking at the event viewer for potential causes, and cannot find any. I also checked the CPU temperature in BIOS right after the error and that was fine. I've tried 2 sets of RAM chips already, both give the issues. The error doesn't happen consistently...it happens daily, but many hours can pass and it won't happen, or only 10 minutes can pass and it might happen again. By the way, just bought the parts and built the computer myself a couple of weeks ago. How to debug the cause for this? • Could not open Selected VM debug port (8700)

  I am trying to debug the android source using Eclipse by following the instructions found at: http://source.android.com/using-eclipse I have downloaded the source, and gotten it to build. I follow the directions in the link above and everything is fine until I run the ddms command. At this point, if Eclipse is running I get the error 'Could not open Selected VM debug port (8700)'. If I close Eclipse, then ddms runs with no problem, and I can the the processes on the emulator. However, if I now open Eclipse, I get the same error. In any case, no matter what I do, if I attempt to remote debug, it always fails with 'Failed to connect to remote VM'. Any ideas? Thanks

• How to Debug XAML Parsing Errors in Silverlight?

  I run into the following issue semi-regularly: I make changes to XAML or some resources used by it and when I go to load up the Silverlight project in debug mode it only gets as far as the spinning Silverlight-loading animation. I've tried attaching the VS08 debugger to the process but it doesn't do anything at this point (works fine once I'm in the Silverlight but not before.) From previous experience I've noticed this happens when there're problems with the XAML or the resources in it but my only solution so far has been to dissect the code line-by-line until I spot the problem. Is there an easy way to debug/diagnose these situations? UPDATE I found this question with some help, but it still doesn't provide a good way to debug these types of issues.

• Cannot Debug Unmanaged Dll from C#

  I have a DLL that was written in C++ and called from a C# application. The DLL is unmanaged code. If I copy the DLL and its .pdb files with a post build event to the C# app's debug execution dir I still can't hit any break points I put into the DLL code. The break point has a message attached to it saying that "no symbols have been loaded for this document". What else do I have to do to get the debugging in the dll source? I have "Tools-Options-Debugging-General-Enable only my code" Disabled. The DLL is being compiled with "Runtime tracking and disable optimizations (/ASSEMBLYDEBUG)" and Generate Debug Info to "Yes (/DEBUG)"

• ClickOnce disallow publishing of Debug builds

  Is there anyway to disallow publishing Debug builds when publishing ClickOnce aplications using Visual Studio 2008? I know this was asked before, but i can't figure out how from the answer. THe Accepted answer for previous question was: One thing you can do is add a condition to the .csproj or .vbproj file that MSBuild will check when doing a build. The condition would check if a publish is occurring and check if the build is a debug build, then do something like run an external tool or otherwise interrupt the build process or cause it to fail. Could anyone elaborate on that answer or tell me where/or how I can add this condition. • iphone Memory gets freed in debug mode but not in release mode

  I have been testing my iPhone debug build on both my device and simulator with activity monitor, leaks, and object allocations. The code is pretty well optimized so I have decided to test the release build. I went into the project Menu and set the target build to be release, I then added the necessary header paths that my app is using to the headers search paths and ran the release build on the device with the above mentioned instruments. What I have noticed now is that memory that was freed when I used the debug build does not get freed when using release version. There is one place in my App that I remove a scroll view with some images which frees up a significant amount of memory when I use the debug build, but no memory is freed up in that place when I use the release version. Does someone have any ideas where I need to start looking at? did I setup my release build wrong?

• Is it possible to nest folders in the Flash Builder bin-debug

  I'm trying to setup my bin-debug folder so that the structure looks like this: bin-debug assets img swf main.swf css style.css js swfobject.js index.html I've tried setting the project's output folder to: bin-debug/assets/swf which does get my main.swf where I want it, but then my other source folders get dumped into that swf folder as well. What I would really like is to tell Flash Builder to put my swf into a nested folder and to be able to specify where my build folders' output goes as well. Is this at all possible without resorting to ANT scripts?

I've set xdebug so that I can debug my site on apache but when I click 'debug as web page' in the eclipse ide only the breakpoint in the public/index.php and in the views get hit. If I put a breakpoin here public function indexAction() { // action body $this->view->s = "deam"; } the debugger don't stop?! why is that? I can't debug the most important part of my application. :( Plese help me with this.

• Does Msbuild recognise any build configurations other than DEBUG|RELEASE

  I created a configuration named Test via Visual Studio which currently just takes all of DEBUG settings, however I employ compiler conditions to determine some specific actions if the build happens to be TEST|DEBUG|RELEASE. However how can I get my MSBUILD script to detect the TEST configuration?? Currently I build <MSBuild Projects="@(SolutionsToBuild)" Properties="Configuration=$(Configuration);OutDir=$(BuildDir)\Builds\" /> Where @(SolutionsToBuild) is a my solution. In the Common MsBuild Project Properties it states that $(Configuration) is a common property but it always appears blank? Does this mean that it never gets set but is simply reserved for my use or that it can ONLY detect DEBUG|RELEASE. If so what is the point in allowing the creation of different build configurations?

• Cannot debug tests using Resharper

  Hi, I'm not able to debug my tests using Resharper-Debug option in my project. I have seen this issue raised by lots of people, but has't come across a solid suggestion which solves my issue. The strange thing is that, if I create a sample project and write a simple unit test, I'm able to debug it without any issues.However when I try to do this in my current project, it simply throws a dialog box saying "Cannot Launch Debugger".I have checked this with my peers, and they does't face this issue :( Also I don't have any issues while running the test. • Xenserver 5.5 U2 a bit unstable with an unstable W2003 VM

  In the last week I had to reboot the host system twice and the second one by means of the power button. The system is a Dell PE 6950 (4 Opteron dual core, 2,8 Ghz, 16 GB RAM, 900 GB disk in a RAID 10 array composed by 4 450GB 15000 rpm disks) with XenServer 5.5 U2. We're installing it and at now there are working in production a 2003 32 bit Windows server VM with 2 GB RAM, 3 vcpu and about 200 GB disk in 4 partition (12 GB boot, 20 GB program, 80 GB user data, 80 GB other data). The first time I was compressing many Windows 2003 folders (some tens GB by means of W2003 compressed folder option) from a Windows remote console and some hours before my colleague installed Backup Exec agent that was alredy installed and that required a reboot (that was pending). The console stopped responding, it was no more possible to connect by means of remote console or by means of the console of the XenCentre, it was still possible from the network to use the shared folder of the VM and the programs on it (2 db and a GIS program), but the print server didn't work any more and I couldn't give remote reboot from other domain controller hosts. I couldn't stop the virtual machine neither from the XenCentre, neither from the command line of the host also forcing the reboot. I had to reboot the host server. Yesterday it has been worst. I installed a template of another VM, CentOS 5.3 and then, put the DVD in the drive of the host. Then, before the install and after the boot I checked for defect the DVD and the W2003 VM began to respond slowly (I was connected by means of an administration remote console) the task manager showed only mid or low load, it is, only the first of the 3 vcpu was loaded (about 70%), while the other two were about at 20% and also the disk I/O was not so heavy. Then the users were not so happy because they couldn't any more use the MS word docs on the server. I immediately stopped the check of the DVD (to do that I had to force the stop of such Centos 5.3 VM), then some users could again use their docs, but other had still problems, so I decided to reboot the VM, but it doesn't stopped, neither from XenCenter, neither from command line, neither forcing the reboot. Then I tried to reboot of the host, but it didn't worked, neither from the XenCentre, neither from the host prompt (shutdown -r now as root: it told that it was shutting down, but then it didn't did that). So I had to power off by means of the power button of the server (before I tried some Magic SyS REQ, but I saw that Xen isn't compiled with this option enabled). What could you suggest about my problem, what can I look, search and see? In the W2003 VM logs there are no errors or warning to explain what happened. • Kate gives out debug messages on the console from which it is started

  I am new to Linux. I use Ubuntu 11.04. Whenever I open a file with kate from the commandline, with 'kate &' (or without ampersand), Kate starts out giving messages on the console. It continuously gives them out as I save a file or close one. They look like debug messages to me (sample below). I have used Synaptic package manager to install Kate. Uninstalling and installing the dev version did not make any change. Soon my console becomes cluttered. Is there a way to suppress these messages? There was nothing explicit in Kate settings either. • How can I debug a port/connectivity issue?

  I am running a simple WebSocket server on Amazon EC2 (Fedora Core). I've opened the relevant port using ec2-authorize, and checked that it's opened. Iptables is definitely not running. However I can't connect to the port from outside EC2. I've tried the following (my server is running on port 7000): telnet ec2-public-dns.xx.xx.xx.amazon.com 7000 (from within EC2: connects fine) nmap localhost (output includes line: 7000/tcp open afs3-fileserver) telnet ec2-public-dns.xx.xx.xx.amazon.com 7000 (this time from my local machine: I get "connection refused: Unable to connect to remote host") The strange thing is this: if I start Nginx on port 7000 then it works and I can connect from outside EC2! And the WebSocket server fails on port 80, where Nginx works fine. To me this suggests a problem with the WebSocket server, BUT I can connect to it successfully from within EC2. (And it works fine on a different VPS account). How can I debug this further? If anybody can stop me tearing my hair out, I'd be very grateful indeed :)

• How to debug slow queries in Django+Postgres

  My database queries from Django are starting to take 1-2 seconds and I'm having trouble figuring out why. Not too big a site, about 1-2 requests per second (that hit Django; static files are just served from nginx.) The thing that confuses me is, I can replicate the slowness in the Django shell using debug mode. But when I issue the exact same queries at an sql prompt they are fast. It takes about a second for a query to return, but when I check connection.queries it reports the time as under 10 ms. Here's an example (from the Django shell): >>> p = PlayerData.objects.get(uid="100000521952372") >>> a = time.time(); p.save(); print time.time() - a 1.96812295914 >>> for d in connection.queries: print d["time"] ... 0.002 0.000 0.000 How can I figure out where this extra time is being spent? I'm using Apache+mod_wsgi in daemon mode, but this happens with just the django shell as well, so I figure it is not apache-related.

• C# lost local variable window from debug (f11 step by step)

  I was running my code (visual studio 2010) and I accidentally closed the window that shows the state of variables step by step. I think it was called locals but I can't find it on any of the menu option. Would appreciate any help on this, I didn't realize how handy it was until now - The following link is what my local window looks like when selecting debug/start debugging/selecting breakpoints, which I'm don't find helpful. • Django flatpages raising 404 when DEBUG is False (404 and 500 templates exist)

  I'm using Django 1.1.1 stable. When DEBUG is set to True Django flatpages works correctly; when DEBUG is False every flatpage I try to access raises a custom 404 error (my error template is obviously working correctly). Searching around on the internet suggests creating 404 and 500 templates which I have done. I've added to FlatpageFallBackMiddleware to middleware_classes and flatpages is added to installed applications. Any ideas how I can make flatpages work?
