  In the latest version of Lucene (or Lucene.NET), what is the proper way to get the search results back in sorted order? I have a document like this: var document = new Lucene.Document(); document.AddField("Text", "foobar"); document.AddField("CreationDate", DateTime.Now.Ticks.ToString()); // store the date as an int lucene.AddDocument(document); Now I want do a search and get my results back in order of most recent. How can I do a search that orders results by CreationDate? All the documentation I see is for old Lucene versions that use now-deprecated APIs.

  I have an SQLite table used by Core Data with the following elements: Name: John LastName: Foobar Age: 23 Name: Bob LastName: Baz Age: 37 Name: Peter LastName: Fooqux Age: 32 Name: John LastName: Bar Age: 29 Those are all in a to-many relationship from another object "Company". I need to query the database and retrieve all Company objects with employees called "John" but whose last name does NOT contain "Foo". I did go as far as to make the following predicate: [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"ANY employee.name = 'John'"]; How do I get to filter only by companies whose Johns don't have "Foo" in their last names?

  I am using Symfony 1.3.2 on Ubuntu. I have written a little helper function (statsfoo) that prints out summary statistics about an item. • Using Maven shade plugin in a multi module project

  I have a scenario where-in I need to create an uber jar of a multi module maven project including all modules and their dependencies. I tried using maven shade plugin. but it seems to work only when I use it at the module level. If I add the plugin entry in parent pom then the build breaks (it tries to shade the parent pom) [INFO] Replacing original artifact with shaded artifact. But there should be some way to create an uber jar for a multi module project... Any ideas people???

You can also use your own custom events such as sporty or foobar. Default is to wait until user scrolls down and image appears on the window. To prevent all images to load until their grey placeholder image is clicked you could do: $("img").lazyload({ placeholder : "img/grey.gif", event : "click" }); In this case is clicking the image, but how can I trigger the image load by clicking other element rather than the image itself (say an anchor link/button)?

• PHP Doctrine 1.2 table names

  I'm trying to upgrade my doctrine ORM from 1.1.6 to 1.2.1 but i've enountered a BC issue with table names. Some of my table names have several words (e.g. t_foo_bar for class FooBar) where the t_ prefix is generated automatically with: $manager->setAttribute(Doctrine_Core::ATTR_TBLNAME_FORMAT, 't_%s'); This worked well in previous versions. In 1.2.1 however, it looks like doctrine is looking for t_foobar (instead of t_foo_bar with an underscore). Do you know how to solve this without changing the table names?

• switch statement with returns -- code correctness

  Hi, let's say I have code in C with approximately this structure: switch (something) { case 0: return "blah"; break; case 1: case 4: return "foo"; break; case 2: case 3: return "bar"; break; default: return "foobar"; break; } Now obviously, the "break"s are not necessary for the code to run correctly, but it sort of looks like bad practice if I don't put them there to me. What do you think? Is it fine to remove them? Or would you keep them for increased "correctness"?

  This is a wordpress installation, but I think the question is more of a general sql question. First off, my sql skills are not great (I don't even know if I'm following the correct format for illustrating the db).   I have coworkers who occasionally use typedef to avoid typing. For example: typedef std::list<Foobar> FoobarList; ... FoobarList GetFoobars(); Personally, I always hate coming across code like this, largely because it forces me to go lookup the typedef so I can tell how to use it. I also feel like this sort of thing is a potential slippery slope... If you do this, why aren't you doing it more? (pretty soon, your code is totally obfuscated). I found this SO question regarding this issue: when should I use typedef in C I have two questions: 1) am I truly alone in disliking this? 2) If the vast majority of people think this sort of typedef use is OK, what criteria do you use to determine whether to typedef a type?

• Referencing a different project in the same assembly, different namespaces

  I have two projects : Menu and Module and they are both in the same namespace foobar. I am currently referencing the module project from the Menu project to open up certain controls on a tab control in my menu. However I need to launch a new control from one of my controls which is located in the Module project. When I try referencing the menu project, it does not show up in my intellisense when I try to reference it with a using. Am I doing something wrong logically here? • Can a wifi AP act as a client, and a server at the same time?

  I feel this is SF worthy (as opposed to SU) as I go into a bit of detail on gateways/routing. Here's my ideal setup (if possible) -- there is a wifi network (lets call it bob's) with which I want access to, but I have a few other computers on my network which I want to keep behind a firewall. So I was thinking of buying a wireless access point so that I could set it up to connect to bob's network from the AP, and then from my server, connect to the AP via ethernet. So that's the first bit. Second part is that I want to have my own private wifi network off the back of this; can I then tell the AP to serve a new network called foobar. When I say private network, I mean that my server is actually a Debian linux install with routing configured (and I also do some QoS stuff on, etc). So ideally, I'd like all the clients on the private network to be behind the server in terms of routing. However, if the private clients connect to the server via wifi, then aren't they exposed to the "public" network? That is, if someone is savvy enough to scan for my IP range. Also, to do routing I'd need to connect two ethernet cables between the server and the AP (because you can't do routing/QoS on virtual devices) -- which isn't a problem really; but I'm not sure whether the AP will allow me to separate the public and private LANs. Or, as well as the AP, am I better getting a wifi-to-ethernet adapter for the server? I could use a wifi usb, but this can be tricky to set up on headless linux; plus the signal strength is a bit lousy. If this question is a bit vague/spurious in places, please comment and I will explain in more detail.

• How do I prevent or override a group policy on Windows 7?

  A few months ago my company was purchased by a large corporation. We recently switched our network over to the large corporate network which has more restrictions requirements. One of these is the requirement to use a proxy server for Internet traffic. However, some of our internal servers are not recognized by the corporate DNS, so we need to provide the fully qualified domain name. For W7, we make changes to the Internet Properties for IE8 and Chrome to include our domain name as an exception to the proxy server (e.g., *.foobar.com). The problem is that a group policy that does not include our domain name is continually pushed out to my systems throughout the day. This requires me to make the appropriate changes to the Internet Properties several times a day in order to access our internal servers. Is there a way that I can prevent the group policy from being pushed to my systems or detect when the group policy is pushed and override it? I am an administrator on all of my systems. I do have Firefox installed which is not subject to the same group policy push, but I need to have IE8 and Chrome working.

• Linking to a chat room via XMPP: URI

  I found out how to link directly to a chat room on a Jabber conference server -- it took a bit of digging, and I wound up actually looking at the spec before I was sure I was doing it right. I confirmed here, so I'm pretty sure I've got it. The results, though, are puzzling. If I click a link of the style xmpp:[email protected] I get a new chat session with user "dude" at example.com, as expected. If I tack on a nonsense query (xmpp:[email protected]?foobar), it's ignored, which is what the spec says should happen. However, if I use xmpp:[email protected]?join, as in the link above, nothing happens. I dug a little deeper, and found out that on my (Linux) system, xmpp URIs are handled via purple-url-handler, so I dropped to a terminal and ran it manually. The result was that any xmpp URI ran fine except one that includes a ?join query. The ?join query results in a dbus crash, pointing specifically to line 2356 of dbus-message.c -- a little Googling suggests this probably is dbus's less-than-elegant way of telling me that somebody is using dbus incorrectly. Am I crafting my link correctly? Is this an OS or maybe application issue? Does this work on other platforms / browsers / etc? More importantly, is there any easy way to fix it?

  I'm trying to enable mod_rewrite on an Amazon Linux instance. My Directory directives look like this: <Directory /> Order deny,allow Allow from all Options None AllowOverride None </Directory> <Directory "/var/www/vhosts"> Order allow,deny Allow from all Options None AllowOverride All </Directory> And then further down in httpd.conf I have the LoadModule directive: ... other modules... #LoadModule substitute_module modules/mod_substitute.so LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so #LoadModule proxy_module modules/mod_proxy.so ... other modules... I have commented out all the Apache modules not needed by Wordpress. Still when I issue http restart and then check the loaded modules with /usr/sbin/httpd -l I get only: [root@foobar]# /usr/sbin/httpd -l Compiled in modules: core.c prefork.c http_core.c mod_so.c Inside the virtual host containing the Wordpress site I have an .htaccess containing: # BEGIN WordPress <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L] RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule . /index.php [L] </IfModule> # END WordPress The .htaccess is owned by apache which is the user apache runs under.
