• Windows 8 Location Services

  I spent the afternoon with the Geolocator object in the WinRT and Widows 8 platform. I have also been working with doing Windows Phone 7 development, and first had to wrap my head around the fact that while similar, it is not the same as the GeoCoordinateWatcher that environment. I found a nice example here http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/Geolocation-2483de66 But the behavior of my app wasn’t the same. Once you ensure that location services is enabled by following these instructions: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh768219.aspx Location Services was still disabled. From everything I read, it sounded like the first time you try to use the Geolocator object, the user would be prompted to allow to “Access to your location”. After nosing around I found the issue. You need to add the location service as a Capability in the Package.appxmanifest file: After checking the box, I was prompted to allow access to location services as expected the first time I needed to use it.

  Is there a way to tell using C# if a file is real or a symbolic link? I've dug through the MSDN W32 docs (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa364232(VS.85).aspx), and can't find anything for checking this. I'm using CreateSymbolicLink from here, and it's working fine.

• IIS7 ISAPI Filter Module & HttpModule Events - How do they line up?

  So IIS7 in Integrated Pipeline mode uses a IsapiFilterModule to shim ISAPI filter DLL's and fire off the correct "events" on the filters, which is quite different than previous versions of IIS or IIS7 in classic mode because this means that HttpModules fire off right along side ISAPI filters in Integrated Pipeline mode. So does anyone happen to know how ISAPI events (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms524855.aspx) and the HttpModule events (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998536.aspx) line up?

  Howdy, I followed these two tutorial to get Client Application services working using WCF instead of the traditional web services project: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb398990.aspx http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb546195.aspx But when configuring the winforms project services tab with the wcf services location, the generated code in app.config points to a "Authentication_JSON_AppService.axd" service uri that doesn't exist. However, since properties are no more than syntactic sugar for a get and set method, they are also allowed in interfaces. • I have VS2010 Ultimate. Shouldn't TFS Server be included?

  Dumb question I'm sure, but when I log onto my MSDN subscription account, I don't see Team Foundation Server in the list of available for download software application. I thought it was supposed to come with VS2010 Ultimate, which I could download. Is it a separate download? Could it be that my MSDN account level gives me access to VS2010 but that I am still not entitled to TFS? I'd like to install it instead of using VSS.

  Hello, I am creating some cookies in my ASP.NET application. These cookies expire 10 minutes after they have been created.
