How can I use a vanilla Yahoo! account (free) with mail.app in Snow Leopard?
I note that with my iPod Touch I can access my Yahoo! account without a single problem.
I have an external USB drive mounted on my Mac OS X 10.6 "Snow Leopard" box. I want to share a folder on this volume to another OS X computer over LAN. How is it possbile? If I simply enable the built-in File Sharing service and share the directory (using the AFP protocol), it won't be accessible on the other computer.
How do you create a keyboard shortcut that activates fast user switching (i.e. brings up the login window) in Mac OS X Snow Leopard?
I'm trying to emulate the Windows Start+L keyboard combination, which I miss from my time using Windows.
Hi
I am trying to compile helloWorld in java under snow leopard and I get this compiler error:
java[51692:903] Can't open input server /Library/InputManagers/Inquisitor
It happens when I am using terminal command javac and when I am trying do this in NetBeans.
I was trying to open folder "Inquisitor" but I have no access to folder , even if I login as root user.
Any clue what is going on?
thanks.
Here's the scenario:
Work network - I have a Mac and a PC - OS X is Snow Leopard - Windows 7
I am trying to connect to the PC from the Mac. IT ONLY works if I turn off the firewall in Windows.
I tried to trace the port and connection it was using, it appears to be on port 445 via TCP.
I really prefer not to leave this open, or is it OK?
How can I only allow this connection while still leaving the firewall on?
Mac OS X's Finder seems to be the equivalent to Windows Explorer. In Windows, I enjoy having multiple instances of Explorer open to move/copy files from one folder in a window, to another folder in another window.
How can I achieve this in Snow Leopard?
I'd like to have shortcut key, as well as a dock icon solution. Or maybe there's a better program than Finder out there that does this?
I have this persisting issue where when i put my mac (snow leopard) to sleep on my macbook, whenever i wake the mac, everything is fine besides the Finder.
The finder does not open up, none of the folders i click on (via desktop) open up, so ii end up killing my finder via activity monitor and it then resets my folder settings ( i have snap to grid and large icons for example).
Whats going on and why is it doing this?
Thanks in advance guys
How can I do a right-click using the keyboard in Mac OS X Snow Leopard using the Logitech Wave Keyboard?
The keyboard has keys as Fn + PrintScreen, but it only works in Windows, not Mac OS X.
After running Disk Utility from the Snow Leopard disc, the Applications folder inside my home directory became empty or is not linked to the main /Applications folder outside my home directory. How do I restore the Applications folder inside my home?
This may have been asked before, but I'm wondering whether there is a shortcut for navigating to the enclosing folder in OS X (Snow Leopard)?
I find navigating Finder particularly frustrating since it's hard navigating back to the enclosing folder (especially when you jump to a folder and realize the back button is disabled)...
I'm hoping for something other than Command+Up, since that's the key combination I use to navigate Spaces.
I am running Mac snow leopard 10.6.3 and I used a mac installer program for git that was designed originally for leopard. I think since then my man pages have been broken and attempting to look up any command makes my computer stall for a bit before returning 'no manpage found.' Where do I begin fixing this? Thanks.
I have a bunch of avi's I am converting to m4v, and I can do this in QuickTime by opening the video and then go 'Save As', select a folder, select the type (iPhone, Movie, etc), blah blah blah. But I have around 100 videos I want to do this with. Command line options? Or batch processing options in the GUI? Enlighten me, please.
This is QuickTime X on Snow Leopard.
Something similar to Concept Draw under windows.
Creating network, software, project architecture diagrams, flow charts, mind maps...
All this for Snow Leopard.
Hi,
I'm running Snow Leopard (10.6.3) and all of a sudden the files on my desktop are gone. Can't view them from Finder, and they're not in the Trash. Any ideas?
Thanks.
I have a Macbook with Snow Leopard that I need to update, but I want to limit the speed so it doesn't wipe out my entire bandwidth.
Is there an application or setting change I can use to limit the speed to 20KBps?
I've already tried ipfw through the terminal with little success.
Thanks :-)
I have a desktop running Windows 7 and a Macbook Pro running Snow Leopard. If someone is using my Macbook Pro, and from my Windows 7 machine I want to see what they see on their screen, is there a way to do that?
Is there any way to get rid of the drop down cc bcc reply-to etc. field menu in the compose new message window in Mail in Mac OS X Snow Leopard?
The offending menu is the one immediately to the left of the Subject field when composing a new message, and it interrupts me as I try to tab from To: to Subject: to the message body. If you know of any way to be rid of it, I'd be very grateful. Thanks!
Hi,
On Snow-Leopard, it seems that when I install a package, it requires to be "reinstalled" for every user. How do I do a system-wide install?
Thanks!
2 finger commands for scrolling up and down a page work, but 3 and 4 button mouse commands don't work anymore in my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard.
What happened? How can they be re-enabled?
Is there a way to send a message to all logged-in users on an OS X (Snow Leopard) server? Sometimes I need to reboot the server and would like to give everyone a notice of the impending reboot that gives them five minutes to log-out before I proceed.
When I was still on Windows XP, I used ffdshow to take care of all my video and audio codecs needs (with fully customizable subtitles). I did not need any other video player except Windows Media Player.
Is there an ffdshow equivalent for the Mac? The objective is the same: that I shouldn't have to install any other video player, not even VLC, or the trial-bloatware-ridden DivX. I'm on Snow Leopard.
There must be a way to control the built-in VPN client in OS-X Snow Leopard, I simply can't find documentation about it. I want to be able to connect and disconnect while I'm ssh'd into my box remotely. Does anyone know how to do that?
I understand that OS X Snow Leopard unofficially has Read/Write capability for NTFS. Any experiences with it? Is is stable enough for daily heavy use? Or should I spring for Paragon NTFS?
I just bought a new solid state drive, and I'd like to copy all of the files and setup from my current Mac OS X hard drive onto it. What is the best way to do this?
I have a 1TB external hard drive, my drive backed up on Time Machine, and Snow Leopard on a DMG, but no external mount for the SSD, and no install DVD (it's at my parents house, promise). I'm familiar with the command line and booting up Mac OS X from a hard drive.
I recently changed my physical location, and had to change my DNS server setting in network preferences. However my Mac reverts back to original DNS server IP address on each reboot and I have to manually change it everytime. How can I make my changes persist on reboot?
I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.7
UPDATE
This is has started to occur since the time I restored my entire system from TM backup.
