Nowaday, we teach vb.net on Win ( desktop applications using ADO on Access ), C on linux ( process, threads ) , C++ on Linux ( sockets TCP/UDP with UML ), and a bit of ASP.net, flash programming, PHP, Joomla and PIC Microcontrollers. We are looking for something innovative to add in our programs of study, but every teacher have a different point of view: we are debating about python, C#, Arduino, Silverlight and smartphones programming.   Firstly I understand OpenId is for authentication and OAuth is for authorisation and unlike other questions on the site I am not asking which should be used for which but if anyone can advise a solution for my issue. I want to allow users to login to my site via their LinkedIn/Twitter/Facebook account once logged in say via LinkedIn they could also then authorise their Twitter and Facebook account as a optional login method. This would allow the user to authenticate via any of the three but end up with their user account on my site as the end result. I also want to use the authorisation they have provided to get basic user details (profile pic/name etc) and post status updates. I don't want to ask a user to login with their account via openId then have to authorise the same account again via oauth to allow my site to publish to their service feed and have to do this for each of the 3 services. Any ideas or issues to this issue Lee

• Weird background offset of UIToolbar when in formSheet.

  As you can see in the pic, the buttons from the toolbar on the right align perfectly with the segmented control on the left. They are displayed on the navigation bar. For some reason though, the background of the toolbar seems to be offset 1px to the bottom. What is especially weird, is this exact same view controller, in fullScreen or even pageSheet, displays everything properly. Segmented control is being allocated: UISegmentedControl* segmentControl = [[UISegmentedControl alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0,0,300,30)]; Toolbar is being allocated: UIToolbar* toolbar = [[UIToolbar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 100,44)]; I've spent hours trying to fix this, it's driving me crazy.

• PHP getimagesize with ampersand in string creates errors

  I'm using the getimagesize function in PHP, and the path string contains an ampersand, which otherwise is fine. The page gives me errors where getimagesize() is called. Looking at the source code, though, I see the ampersand is being passed through as & rather than just & I presume this is causing errors because PHP doesn't need to convert it to the html tag in order to find the path, right? Here is the error: Warning: getimagesize(image.php?name=username&pic=picture) [function.getimagesize]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory

  Hi All, I am not sure how to put this, maybe I'm not able to search it properly I'm not sure what is it called but I am looking for a script which is a kind of an extended version of lightbox script. I want to place some images in my website which when clicked opens as lightbox and can go next and previous but the trick is the next images have to be sub pics of the pic which is displayed. So lets say I have "a" "b" "c" ....images shown on my website but when some clicks "a" the image "a" opens but then when he clicks next image {{ with the help of the lightbox script }} he goes to "a.1" "a.2" ....and so on for image "b" ...... Can anyone help me finding this script I have seen i somewhere bu not sure of the search term. Many Thanks

• CSS background image inconsistency in IE6 and IE7

  I have a span that is generated through javascript, with its css class as follows: .class1{ width:25px; height:25px; background-image: url(pic.png); background-repeat:no-repeat; background-position: center; cursor:pointer; margin-left:10px; } The problem is on, the html page, i can see the pointer -cursor, but not the background image,over the span, in IE7. In IE6, both get shown , no problems.

• Facebook proxy email not arriving -- do I need permissions?

  I'm building a website that allows user to connect using Facebook Connect. So far I'm able to log the user in and fetch data about them (name, email, pic, etc.). If I fetch the email (using Users.getInfo) I get a proxied email ([email protected]), which is absolutely great. Problem is, that email doesn't work. I've tried sending an email to it and I never received it. There are two reasons I see that could cause this: I don't have enough permissions. Ok, I can understand that, but if I don't have enough permissions then why are they returning an email at all? The email has to be somehow sent from the application itself (I've tried sending it from my Gmail account) -- but how would Facebook know that the email is coming from the application? So which is it? Or is it something else?

  I'm trying to send an image to a server, using HTTP Post Multipart. Everything else is fine, I have all the boundrys set and stuff. But what do I have to do to the image before hand? Do I have to convert it to binary? Here is the header data from the header (using Fiddler). This is what I need to upload: -----------------------------7daea2aa40c80 Content-Disposition: form-data; name="pict"; filename="pic.jpeg" Content-Type: image/pjpeg <Binary here ... or at least I think it is> .. ?????JFIF?????????C? I want to use it on the webpage, but at the install window the name is MyActiveX.cab with no link. the MyActiveX.cab name can be changed by modifying the html page's tag codebase attribute. but the name is still format like "XXX.cab" with no hyperlink.   hello, i use a script for my image.php.. the url with an image looks like this: /image.php?title=Alyssa Milano Unicef&description=Alyssa Milano Unicef&url=uploads/2009/12/alyssa_milano_unicef_05.jpg But if someone types directly www.site.com/image.php it shows a blank site.. a redirection would be nice, to the 404page or startpage.. i know it must something like "if else".. if image - then show the page.. if there no pic go to 404 or the startpage.. thank your for helping!

• Wanting to edit a google maps info bubble

  I have to edit an info bubble on a website to help someone out. The site is already online and i dont have the ftp login details so i cant download the files and use them locally to test it. So im having some issues with inserting a logo on the top of the bubble, like a header. Im also having problems with the code needed to add 'to here' and 'from here' directions at the bottom of the bubble. Everything else is plain text in the middle of these 2 objects, so thats easy. Can anyone help me with the header pic and directions code?

• SQL Server 2008 full-text search doesn't find word in words?

  In the database I have a field with a .mht file. I want to use FTS to search in this document. I got this working, but I'm not satisfied with the result. For example (sorry it's in dutch, but I think you get my point) I will use 2 words: zieken and ziekenhuis. As you can see, the phrase 'zieken' is in the word 'ziekenhuis'. When I search on 'ziekenhuis' I get about 20 results. When I search on 'zieken' I get 7 results. How is this possible? I mean, why doesn't the FTS resturn the minimal results which I get from 'ziekenhuis'?   Hey guys, I have a mysql database which stores an id for each picture, as well as the picture's url and its thumbnail url. the thumbnail url is something like thumbs/pic.jpg and the page I'm creating has the folder thumbs in the same place it is created. • What port is my SQL2008 instance running on?

  Check out this pic of my SQL 2008 Management Configuration screen for TCP: I need to know what port I am running on. Base on this previous post, I don't believe that it is 1433, which I guess is the default. When I check my port number in SQL Config Mgr., it is blank. Does this suggest a default port? Note that I have multiple SQL Server instance on the db server. 1 2000 instance and two 2008 instances. I want to know the port of the 2008b instance. Can you help?

• What regular expression(s) would I use to remove escaped html from large sets of data.

  Our database is filled with articles retrieved from RSS feeds. I was unsure of what data I would be getting, and how much filtering was already setup (WP-O-Matic Wordpress plugin using the SimplePie library). This plugin does some basic encoding before insertion using Wordpress's built in post insert function which also does some filtering. I've figured out most of the filters before insertion, but now I have whacko data that I need to remove. This is an example of whacko data that I have data in one field which the content I want in the front, but this part removed which is at the end: <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:V_sGLiPBpWU" border="0"></img> <img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?d=qj6IDK7rITs" border="0"></img> &lt;img src=&quot;http://feeds.feedburner.com/~ff/SoundOnTheSound?i=xFxEpT2Add0:xFbIkwGc-fk:D7DqB2pKExk&quot; Notice how some of the images are escape and some aren't. I believe this has to do with the last part being cut off so as to be unrecognizable as an html tag, which then caused it to be html endcoded. Another field has only this which is now filtered before insertion, but I have to get rid of the others: &lt;img src=&quot;http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2183/2289902369_1d95bcdb85.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;post_img&quot; width=&quot;80&quot; (all examples are on one line, but broken up for readability) Question: What is the best way to work with the above escaped html (or portion of an html tag)? I can do it in Perl, PHP, SQL, Ruby, and even Python. I believe Perl to be the best at text parsing, so that's why I used the Perl tag. And PHP times out on large database operations, so that's pretty much out unless I wanted to do batch processing and what not. PS One of the nice things about using Wordpress's insert post function, is that if you use php's strip_tags function to strip out all html, insert post function will insert <p> at the paragraph points. Now my goal is to measure distances (NOT actual distances, distance can be in any arbitrary unit) . eg: How do I find the length of the hall? (until the window) Or the height of the bookshelves?
