• Problem getting GOBI 2000 HS to work

  I've been trying to get my integrated GOBI WWAN card to work under 10.10 for a while now. I was able to get the network manager to see the card after installing the gobi-loader package. I was able to setup the connection, but i cannot establish a connection to Verizon. Below is the output from /var/log/daemon.log as i try to connect. • 2 internet connections

  If I have a wireless and a usb internet connection on my Ubuntu 12.04 as in: At the moment, Ubuntu seems to only make use of the Wired connection which is the usb connection. Is it possible to get ubuntu to use the wireless connection without unplugging the wired connection? So basically, as will, I would like to switch between the connections without unplugging any of them while leaving them both enabled. Is this possible?

• 3G dongle and memory card detection

  My questions is about 3G dongle (Huawei E1752) that I use for my internet on Ubuntu 12.04. The big issue is that ubuntu only recognise the dongle if I plug it in before booting up. But if somehow I loses connection (due to network being low) then the only way to use the 3G dongle again is to reboot my machine, which becomes a pain. I have the same issue with the memory card reader of my laptop whereby it only reads when I insert the card before booting up. My laptop is an Acer V3 -571g. At first I thought it was an issue that the model was quite new, but I have been updating my ubuntu for a while, and this issue has kept being the same

• Using ADSL Modem/WiFi Router to share existing network wirelessly

  At my uni we have a wired Ethernet connection in our dorms. However, I want to share this connection with my macbook using wifi (so I don't have to be constantly tethered). I am looking at using my DSL G064T ADSL modem/WiFi router as a wifi repeater for the uni network. Is this possible? How would I go about doing this? I understand that it would be possible using a normal Wifi router (seeing as it has an ethernet 'in' port where it would get the external connection from.), so is it just not possible using the router I have? If i need to buy another one, which one would you recommend?

• Multi sim GSM modem or alternative

  I'm trying to administer the SMS trafic of my businesss centrally through a web portal. In Europe (except UK) we don't have a numbers/SMS trafic provider like Twilio or Clickatell, nor any build in way to administer the SMS traffic for a number via http, so I will have to buy the long numbers and administer the SMS traffic myself. For this I was looking into a hardware solution for hosting all my SIM cards - I have like 400 sims cards (= numbers). I saw that GSM modems might fit in but they don't seem to scale up very well. Could you recommend me a GSM modem? If this is not the best way to approach this, what would my alternatives be? Thanks in advance

  I have a SMC7904WBRA-N ADSL modem/router that connects to the internet with a static IP given by the provider. I've received a RV082 to create a VPN connection which is having problems to connect to the remote VPN Server. After many tries we deduced that the SMC7904WBRA-N is being problematic with the NAT and I have been suggested to put the SMC router into the appropriate DSL bridging mode so the RV082 gets direct access to internet with the static IP. Can you give me any hints on how could this be done? Which mode is that?

• DSL-504T as dumb ADSL modem

  I am trying to setup an existing DSL-504T ADSL router to work as a dumb modem for a DIR-825 wifi router. I am assuming I should try and move as much of the control to the DIR-825 as possible. It's a PPPoA connection so I don't think I can use bridge mode. Does anyone have any guidance on this? Should I have 2 subnets? Should I set the DIR-825 as the DMZ on the DSL-504T? Do I need to keep NAT and firewall enabled on DSL-504T? Basically I have it working but want to know if I have set it up correctly as I really want the QoS to work on the DIR-825.

• Motorola NVG510 bridge mode

  I have a Motorola NVG510 modem from AT&T, and I would like to disable all routing functions and use it as just a modem. I have a Time Capsule that's already connected and broadcasting its own wireless network, which is how I've been connecting (it's been reporting a double-NAT error, which I assume is from the NVG510 also acting as a router). I followed the instructions in question six here, and I can connect as I did before, but my Time Capsule still has a double-NAT error. How do I put the NVG510 into bridge mode or otherwise fix the double-NAT error? (No, ignoring it does not count as a fix.)

• Thomson TCM 420 internal firewall deactivation

  Hi all, I'm having a really hard time with getting a box into active torrent mode. Windows firewall etc. is done, the actual problem seems to relate to the cable modem which is used to connect the box to the net. It's a Thomson TCM 420 which 'claims' to have an internal firewall. IMHO this internal FW keeps me from using the port I opened for torrenting. To cut it short: is there a way to disable that firewall? The web administration interface of the modem does not provide that option. thanks in advance K

• Windows does not detect any modems anymore[HSPA]

  By an accident i uninstalled my Connect manager (ZTE). but when i re-install it the virtual CD drive is detected but it does not detect the drivers. When i direct to the folder containing the relevant drivers(.sys files) still it doesnt detect. Then i tried a modem of a different brand Huawei the same problem presists As i understand it is not a device(brand) driver specific issue as it does not detect modem(dongles) of any brand. when i plugged in a different USB device(a pen drive) the driver is detected and it works perfectly. Please help me with the issue i have tried system restore but it doesnt work. I want a repair that works without re-installing windows [Edit] I tried Karan's suggested method with usboblivion it didnt work. now im sure that the issue does not deal with the registry

• Configuring home wireless network

  I'm new to setting up a home wireless network. I have Comcast tv/internet/phone service (modem included) as well as a wireless router. My question is pretty basic. How can I tell the performance of the following parts of the network? 1. incoming internet speed 2. speed of the modem 3. speed of the wireless router I basically want as fast an internet connection as possible, of course, but I'm not sure where to look for the bottleneck (and so, not sure where I can spend some money to speed things up). Right now I'm getting about 36 Mbps (as it shows in Windows). If I run an online speed test (xfinity has one) it shows Average download speed of 14.91 Mbps and Average upload speed of 5.72 Mbps. • Mac Mini's internet very slow, every other device fine (PC, iPhone, Xbox 360)

  I recently haven't used my Mac Mini for about 5 days (however it was left on). I seem to be able to connect and get great download / upload speeds through my PC, Xbox 360, iPhone and parents' laptop. However, my Mac Mini is very slow. OS X's Mail.app is downloading mail at 0.4kbps and then dropping to 0. Skype file transfers are doing the same. Browsing the net is a terrible experience. It is taking 30 seconds or more to download basic pages. All of my devices connect wirelessly to a Netgear router / modem. I have tried giving the Mac Mini a manual IP, and renew DHCP lease, as well as flush DNS in Terminal. I have also rebooted the router / modem twice, and the Mac Mini twice. Do you know what could be causing this? Thanks

  I have two computers in my house they are laptop and desktop and I use internet which is of wired connection and it has a modem. The modem has 1 LAN port and 1 USB port. So what I did is that I connected the desktop to the LAN which had Windows 7 Home Premium OS and Laptop to the USB which had Windows 7 Home Basic. As home group can be made with windows 7 home premium and above versions I made it via desktop. The home group was established and the data can be exchanged.But one problem I was able to access internet in desktop but not in laptop. So I tried to share internet but I am not able to do so..... So anyone there to help me ???????

  I've just started working for a company who produce a specialist modem. In the test department they simulate actual use with a bunch of pc's acting as clients connecting over this modem. As such each needs to dial a set of dial-up connections. Each of these has to be created manually, and currently takes quite a while on each machine, so i was hoping to be able to automate the creation process. Back in the early days of the internet i remember getting CD's from ISP's where the dial-up connection was configured automatically, and i was wondering if anyone lknew how to do this, or if they could point me in the direction of a tutorial about it. To be clear, i don't want to automate actually dialing the connection, but i do want to run a script which creates the icons in the networking applet that allows us to dial these connection. • Could not open IPV6 addr on web browser

  I have ipv6 address fe80::21f:a4ff:fe91:2e44%4. This is the address of modem/router. I am unable to open this address in browser to view the web configuration. I am able to telnet to fe80::21f:a4ff:fe91:2e44%4, view the console UI & can do settings. I can also open 192.168.1.1(IPv4 address of modem/router) in browser. I tried [fe80::21f:a4ff:fe91:2e44] in all browsers like IE, Firefox & Chrome. It was not possible.

  I have basic networking question. Scenario : Two pc's are communicating on a wan. Both the pc's ate behind routers or modems. My question : Both the pc's have public IP of each other. That public IP is most of the time is either of the router or of the modem. There can be more then one pc's behind those routers and modems. Then how the pc's are communicating. I can understand the packets can reach upto those routers or modems. But what after that. In the packet , destination IP is public IP. Then how the router or modem decides where to send the packet?   I am currently using Reliance netconnect USB modem. The problem I am facing is my USB modem disconnects itself at 22:00 PM IST everyday. Now, sometimes what I do is start some downloading and leave my laptop for 2-3 hours in this case if my network disconnects it is a problem for me.   Hi there, I've played a little bit with OpenAL, and I must say that it's pretty fast, even on the iPhone. However, I still got one problem. My app is recording the user voice, and repeats what he said using OpenAL. I've modified the AL_PITCH value, but it's currently also changing the speed, which I don't want to !
