  • Is it possible to create a resource with multiple names in xaml?

    - by mos
In a ResourceDictionary, is there any way to specify an alias for a resource? For example, <Color x:Key="BorderColor">#FF000000</Color> <Color x:Key="AlternateBorderColor">{StaticResource BorderColor}</Color> I don't really want another resource called "AlternateBorderColor", I would just like to be able to refer to the original resource by another name.

  • Absolute UriSource of a Resource image

    - by Louis Rhys
I have a WPF project. If I store image in {ProjectRoot}\Images\image.png, and compile it as Resource then I can access it from a xaml (this xaml is located at Root) as BitmapImage by BitmapImage UriSource="Images/image.png". But if I move the xaml to another folder, say {ProjectRoot}\Xamls, now I have to use BitmapImage UriSource="../Images/image.png". Is there a way to specify an absolute project path, so that I can refer to them with the same path regardless of the location of the xaml?

  • Why, in WPF, do we set an object to Stretch via its Alignment properties instead of Width/Height?

    - by Jonathan Hobbs
In WPF's XAML, we can tell an element to fill its container like this: <Button HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Stretch" /> Why is it that when we set an element to Stretch, we do it via the HorizontalAlignment and VerticalAlignment properties? Why did the WPF design team decide to take this approach over having Width="Stretch" and Height="Stretch"? I presume it was a calculated decision, and I'm curious about the reasoning. CSS, among other technologies, follows the convention that stretching is done via the width and height properties, and that alignment affects positioning exclusively. This seems intuitive enough: stretching the element is manipulating its width and height, after all! Using the corresponding alignment property to stretch an element seems counter-intuitive and unusual in comparison. This makes me think they didn't just pick this option for no reason: they made a calculated decision and had reasons behind it. Width and Height use the double data type, which would ordinarily mean assigning it a string would be silly. However, WPF's Window objects can take Width="Auto", which gets treated as double.NaN. Couldn't Width="Stretch" be stored as double.PositiveInfinity or some other value?

  • CRM 2011 XAML Workflows in VS 2012

    - by AlexR
I'm writing this knowing there's another topic like this to be found here the answer provided however does not make much sense to me and whatever I tried doesn't seem to work so I'm seeking clarification. The situation is as follows: * New CRM 2011 toolkit solution * New project added for Xaml workflow * Adding CRM "Workflow" activity causes error The error: It shows a redbox "Could not generate view for Workflow" The Exception: System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. --- System.IO.IOException: Cannot locate resource 'workflowdesigner.xaml' I have VS 2012 SP2 with the latest (June) CRM SDK Toolkit installed. I did a clean install of the toolkit so it's not "upgraded" to prevent any old assemblies being referenced. I tried the things from the referenced question and moved the assemblies over and also re-referenced the latest assemblies to make sure everything works fine. I also tried downloading a workflow XAML created in CRM and opening but it gives the same error. I also opened the "example" workflow XAML solution in the SDK, again same result.

  • Will an app made for windows store support WindowsRT, windows8 and windows 8 mobile?

    - by AnhSirk Dasarp
I am very much confused about these. I would like to develop app for windows 8 , Windows RT , and windows mobile. I have windows 8 OS installed in my laptop. As far as I know, Windows RT is for ARM based devices. HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS: I develop an app, and put in windows store. Will that can be downloaded from a ARM based device ,which runs on Windows RT, AND from a windows 8 laptop , and same from a Windows 8 mobile? OR should it be different apps ?

  • How to bind a table in a dataset to a WPF datagrid in C# and XAML

    - by Jim Thomas
I have been searching to hours for something very simple: bind a WPF datagrid to a datatable in order to see the columns at design-time. I can’t get any of the examples to work for me. Here is the C# code to populate the datatable InfoWork inside the dataset info: info = new Info(); InfoTableAdapters.InfoWorkTableAdapter adapter = new InfoTableAdapters.InfoWorkTableAdapter(); adapter.Fill(info.InfoWork); The problem is no matter how I declare ‘info’ or ‘infoWork’ Visual Studio/XAML can’t find it. I have tried: <Window.Resources> <ObjectDataProvider x:Key="infoWork" ObjectType="{x:Type local:info}" /> </Window.Resources> I have also tried this example from wpf.codeplex, but XAML doesn’t even like the “local:” keyword! <Window.Resources> <local:info x:Key="infoWork"/> </Window.Resources> There are really two main questions here: 1) How do I declare the table InfoWork in C# so that XAML can see it? I tried declaring it Public in the window class that XAML exists in with no success. 2) How do I declare the windows resource in XAML, specifcally the datatable inside the dataset? Out of curiosity, is there a reason that ItemsSource just doesn't show up as a property that be set in the properties design window?

  • [Windows 8] Please implement the PlayTo feature in your media apps

    - by Benjamin Roux
One of the greatest feature in Windows 8 apps is the ability to stream the video/photos/music you’re playing to any DLNA capable device in your network. Meaning that if you’re watching a movie on Netflix on your brand new Surface tablet in your garden, you can continue to watch it without interruption on your TV if you decide to go back inside ! Isn’t that awesome? The best thing is that it takes very few lines to implement that in an app and it’s very easy. You just have to subscribe to one event and feed the EventArgs with the stream you want to display. You can either stream a video/music from a MediaElement/MediaPlayer (see PlayerFramework on CodePlex) or from a simple Image control. Code’s better than text so I invite you to go the sample code of the PlayTo feature on the msdn (it features code for JS, C# and C++). So if you’re developing an app capable of playing video, music or just display some photos, please implement the PlayTo, it will bring a plus to your app.

  • How to create databinding over two xaml files?

    - by BionicGecko
Hello, I am trying to come to a working understanding of how databinding works, but even after several tutorials I only have a basic understanding of how databinding works. Thus this question might seem fundamental to those more familiar with silverlight. Even if it is trivial, please point me to some tutorial that deals with this problem. All that I could find simply solved this via adding the data binding on a parent page.xaml (that i must not use in my case). For the sake of this example let us assume, that we have 5 files: starter.cs button1.xaml + codeBehind button2.xaml + codeBehind The two buttons are generated in code in the starter(.cs) file, and then added to some MapLayer button1 my_button1 = new button1(); button2 my_button1 = new button2(); someLayer.Children.Add(my_button1); someLayer.Children.Add(my_button2); My aim is to connect the two buttons, so that they always display the same "text" (i.e. my_button1.content==my_button2.content = true;). Thus when something changes my_button1.content this change should be propagated to the other button (two way binding). At the moment my button1.xaml looks like this: <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <Button x:Name="x_button1" Margin="0,0,0,0" Content="{Binding ElementName=x_button2, Path=Content}" ClickMode="Press" Click="button1_Click"/> </Grid> But everthing that i get out of that is a button with no content at all, it is just blank as the binding silently fails. How could I create the databinding in the context I described? Preferably in code and not XAML ;) Thanks in advance

  • File Activation in Windows RT

    - by jdanforth
    The code sample for file activation on MSDN is lacking some code so a simple way to pass the file clicked to your MainPage could be: protected override void OnFileActivated(FileActivatedEventArgs args) {     var page = new Frame();     page.Navigate(typeof(MainPage));     Window.Current.Content = page;       var p = page.Content as MainPage;     if (p != null) p.FileEvent = args;     Window.Current.Activate(); } And in MainPage: public MainPage() {     InitializeComponent();     Loaded += MainPageLoaded; } void MainPageLoaded(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) {     if (FileEvent != null && FileEvent.Files.Count > 0)     {         //… do something with file     } }

  • WPF: ContentPresenter changing Foreground unexpectedly depending on where styles are located

    - by VLTII
    Hi, I'm having an issue with the ContentPresenter behaving unexpectedly based on whether the styles are located in the Window.Resources or in a ResourceDictionary. Specifically, I'm setting the Foreground of the default TextBlock to Black, then setting the Foreground value in my default button style to White. If the styles exits on the page like this, they work fine: <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" xmlns:Microsoft_Windows_Themes="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Windows.Themes;assembly=PresentationFramework.Aero" x:Class="TestBed.MainWindow" x:Name="Window" Title="MainWindow" Width="640" Height="480"> <Window.Resources> <Style TargetType="{x:Type TextBlock}"> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="Black" /> </Style> <Style x:Key="ButtonFocusVisual"> <Setter Property="Control.Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate> <Rectangle Stroke="Black" StrokeDashArray="1 2" StrokeThickness="1" Margin="2" SnapsToDevicePixels="true"/> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> <LinearGradientBrush x:Key="ButtonNormalBackground" EndPoint="0,1" StartPoint="0,0"> <GradientStop Color="#F3F3F3" Offset="0"/> <GradientStop Color="#EBEBEB" Offset="0.5"/> <GradientStop Color="#DDDDDD" Offset="0.5"/> <GradientStop Color="#CDCDCD" Offset="1"/> </LinearGradientBrush> <SolidColorBrush x:Key="ButtonNormalBorder" Color="#FF707070"/> <Style TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Setter Property="FocusVisualStyle" Value="{StaticResource ButtonFocusVisual}"/> <Setter Property="Background" Value="{StaticResource ButtonNormalBackground}"/> <Setter Property="BorderBrush" Value="{StaticResource ButtonNormalBorder}"/> <Setter Property="BorderThickness" Value="1"/> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="White"/> <Setter Property="HorizontalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/> <Setter Property="VerticalContentAlignment" Value="Center"/> <Setter Property="Padding" Value="1"/> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Microsoft_Windows_Themes:ButtonChrome x:Name="Chrome" SnapsToDevicePixels="true" Background="{TemplateBinding Background}" BorderBrush="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" RenderDefaulted="{TemplateBinding IsDefaulted}" RenderMouseOver="{TemplateBinding IsMouseOver}" RenderPressed="{TemplateBinding IsPressed}"> <ContentPresenter HorizontalAlignment="{TemplateBinding HorizontalContentAlignment}" Margin="{TemplateBinding Padding}" VerticalAlignment="{TemplateBinding VerticalContentAlignment}" SnapsToDevicePixels="{TemplateBinding SnapsToDevicePixels}" RecognizesAccessKey="True"/> </Microsoft_Windows_Themes:ButtonChrome> <ControlTemplate.Triggers> <Trigger Property="IsKeyboardFocused" Value="true"> <Setter Property="RenderDefaulted" TargetName="Chrome" Value="true"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="ToggleButton.IsChecked" Value="true"> <Setter Property="RenderPressed" TargetName="Chrome" Value="true"/> </Trigger> <Trigger Property="IsEnabled" Value="false"> <Setter Property="Foreground" Value="#ADADAD"/> </Trigger> </ControlTemplate.Triggers> </ControlTemplate> </Setter.Value> </Setter> </Style> </Window.Resources> <StackPanel x:Name="LayoutRoot"> <Button Content="Button" /> </StackPanel> </Window> But if I move those same styles over to a ResourceDictionary, the Foreground of the button switches to black. • How do I alter the default style of a button without WPF reverting from Aero to Classic?

    - by DanM
I've added PresentationFramework.Aero to my App.xaml merged dictionaries, as in... <Application x:Class="TestApp.App" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"> <Application.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="/PresentationFramework.Aero;component/themes/Aero.NormalColor.xaml" /> <ResourceDictionary Source="pack://application:,,,/WPFToolkit;component/Themes/Aero.NormalColor.xaml" /> <ResourceDictionary Source="ButtonResourceDictionary.xaml" /> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Application.Resources> </Application> I'm trying to modify the default look of buttons just slightly. I put this style in my ButtonResourceDictionary: <Style TargetType="Button"> <Setter Property="Padding" Value="3" /> <Setter Property="FontWeight" Value="Bold" /> </Style> All buttons now have the correct padding and bold text, but they look "Classic", not "Aero". How do I fix this style so my buttons all look Aero but also have these minor changes? I would prefer not to have to set the Style property for every button.

  • How to apply styles to all windows in WPF app?

    - by Brandon
I have the following App.xaml file: <Application x:Class="MiniDeviceConfig.App" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" StartupUri="MiniDeviceConfig.xaml"> <Application.Resources> <ResourceDictionary> <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> <ResourceDictionary Source="Button.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="CheckBox.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="ComboBox.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="Common.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="GroupBox.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="Label.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="LinkButton.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="ListBox.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="ListView.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="RadioButton.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="Tooltip.xaml"/> <ResourceDictionary Source="Window.xaml"/> </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries> </ResourceDictionary> </Application.Resources> In my application, my main window is MiniDeviceConfig.xaml (as seen above). In my Button.xaml file, I clearly set the button height to some obscene number. And, this size is reflected in my main window's buttons. However, some action on the main window triggers a modal window that has more buttons on it. I was expecting the same tall buttons but no such luck. How do I get the style to propagate into all windows in the application?

  • WPF Beginner - A simple XAML layout not working as expected

    Hi, I've just started learning WPF, and followed a book to make this sample calculator application in XAML. The XAML code is attached below. I don't have any UI specific code in the xaml.cs file. However, I'm seeing a difference between design time and runtime. As you can see in the attached screenshot, the upper left button of the calculator is bigger than the rest. Even more confusingly, the designer when I edit the XAML shows the button correctly. I've tried to determine why is that, and I'm stumped. Can anyone help? I'm using VS2008, targeting framework 3.5, if it's any help. Here's the XAML: <TextBlock Grid.Row="0" Grid.Column="0" Grid.ColumnSpan="4" FontSize="24" Name="Header" VerticalAlignment="Center" HorizontalAlignment="Center">Calculator</TextBlock> <TextBox Grid.ColumnSpan="4" Grid.Column="0" Grid.Row="1" Name="Display" HorizontalContentAlignment="Left" Margin="5" /> <Button Grid.Row="2" Grid.Column="0" Click="Button_Click">7</Button> <Button Grid.Row="2" Grid.Column="1" Click="Button_Click">8</Button> <Button Grid.Row="2" Grid.Column="2" Click="Button_Click">9</Button> <Button Grid.Row="3" Grid.Column="0" Click="Button_Click">4</Button> <Button Grid.Row="3" Grid.Column="1" Click="Button_Click">5</Button> <Button Grid.Column="2" Grid.Row="3" Click="Button_Click">6</Button> <Button Grid.Row="4" Grid.Column="0" Click="Button_Click">1</Button> <Button Grid.Row="4" Grid.Column="1" Click="Button_Click">2</Button> <Button Grid.Row="4" Grid.Column="2" Click="Button_Click">3</Button> <Button Grid.Row="5" Grid.Column="0" Click="Button_Click">0</Button> <Button Grid.Row="5" Grid.Column="3" Tag="{x:Static local:Operation.PLUS}" Click="Op_Click">+</Button> <Button Grid.Row="4" Grid.Column="3" Tag="{x:Static local:Operation.MINUS}" Click="Op_Click">-</Button> <Button Grid.Row="3" Grid.Column="3" Tag="{x:Static local:Operation.TIMES}" Click="Op_Click">*</Button> <Button Grid.Row="2" Grid.Column="3" Tag="{x:Static local:Operation.DIVIDE}" Click="Op_Click">/</Button> <Button Grid.Row="5" Grid.Column="1" >.</Button> <Button Grid.Row="5" Grid.Column="2" Tag="{x:Static local:Operation.EQUALS}" Click="Op_Click">=</Button> </Grid>

  • Giving event control back to xaml/callee to access check/uncheck

    - by dovholuk
Hi All, I've scoured the Internet but my search-foo must not work if it's out there cause I just can't find the proper search terms to get me the answer I am looking for. So I turn to the experts here as a last resort to point me in the right direction. What I'm trying to do is create a composite control of a text box and a list box but I want to allow the control consumer to decide what to do when say the checkbox is checked/unchecked and I just can't figure it out... Maybe i'm going about it all wrong. What I've done thus far is to: create a custom control that extends ListBox expose a custom DP named "Text" (for the Text box but it's not the important part) craft the generic.xaml so that the list items have a default ItemTemplate/DataTemplate inside the DataTemplate I'm trying to set the "Checked" or "Unchecked" events expose 'wrapper' events as DPs in the custom control that would get 'set' via the template when instatiated As soon as I try something like the following (inside generic.xaml): <DataTemplate> <...> <CheckBox Checked="{TemplateBinding MyCheckedDP}"/> <...> </DataTemplate> I get runtime exceptions, the designer - vs2010 - pukes out a LONG list of errors that are all very similar and nothing I do can make it work. I went so far as to try using the VisualTreeHelper but no magic combination I could find would work nor would it allow me to traverse the tree because when the OnApplyTemplate method fires the listbox items don't exist yet and aren't in the tree. So hopefully this all makes sense but if not please let me know and I'll edit the post for clarifications. Thanks to all for any pointers or thoughts... Like I said maybe I'm heading about it in the wrong way from the start... EDIT (Request for xaml) generic.xaml datatemplate: <DataTemplate > <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" > <local:FilterCheckbox x:Name="chk"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Display}" /> </local:FilterCheckbox> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> usercontrol.xaml (invocation of custom control) <local:MyControl FancyName="This is the fancy name" ItemChecked="DoThisWhenACheckboxIsChecked" <-- this is where the consumer "ties" to the checkbox events ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource someDataSource}}" />

  • Displaying xaml resources dynamically?

    - by Robert
I used Mike Swanson's illustrator to xaml converter to convert some of my images to xaml. The convert creates a viewbox that contains the image. These viewboxes I made resource files in my program. The code below shows what I'm trying to do: I have a viewmodel that has an enum variable called PrimaryWinding of type Windings. The values PrimD and PrimY of the enum select the respective PrimD and PrimY xaml files in the resources. <UserControl.Resources> <DataTemplate x:Key="PrimTrafo" DataType="{x:Type l:Windings}"> <Frame Source="{Binding}" x:Name="PART_Image" NavigationUIVisibility="Hidden"> <Frame.LayoutTransform> <ScaleTransform ScaleX="0.5" ScaleY="0.5"/> </Frame.LayoutTransform> </Frame> <DataTemplate.Triggers> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding}" Value="PrimD"> <Setter TargetName="PART_Image" Property="Source" Value="Resources\PrimD.xaml" /> </DataTrigger> <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding}" Value="PrimY"> <Setter TargetName="PART_Image" Property="Source" Value="Resources\PrimY.xaml" /> </DataTrigger> </DataTemplate.Triggers> </DataTemplate> </UserControl.Resources> <!--The contentcontrol that holds the datatemplate defined above--> <Grid > <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="2*"></ColumnDefinition> <ColumnDefinition Width="2*"></ColumnDefinition> <ColumnDefinition Width="1*"></ColumnDefinition> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ContentControl Grid.Column="0" Content="{Binding PrimaryWinding}" ContentTemplate="{StaticResource PrimTrafo}"/> </Grid> This code works. Only I can't resize the drawings to the size of the grid cell. I added the ScaleTransform class to resize the image. Is a Frame the wrong class to hold the drawings? Should I use the ScaleTransform class to resize the drawing to the size of the cell? And how can I do that dynamically?

  • warning BC40056: Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtins' doesn't cont

    - by Heinzi
I have a WPF VB.NET project in Visual Studio 2008. For some reason, Visual Studio thinks that it needs to add an Imports MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtins to every auto-generated XAML partial class (= the nameOfXamlFile.g.vb files), resulting in the following warning: warning BC40056: Namespace or type specified in the Imports 'MS.Internal.Xaml.Builtins' doesn't contain any public member or cannot be found. Make sure the namespace or the type is defined and contains at least one public member. Make sure the imported element name doesn't use any aliases. I can remove the Imports line, but, since this is an auto-generated file, it reappears every time that the project is rebuilt. This warning message is annoying and clutters my error list. Is ther something that can be done about it? Or is it a known bug?
