  • Adding image to RichTextBox programatically does not show in Xaml property

    - by rotary_engine
Trying to add an image to a RichTextBox progamatically from a Stream. The image displays in the text box, however when reading the Xaml property there is no markup for the image. private void richTextBox3_Drop(object sender, DragEventArgs e) { if (e.Data.GetDataPresent(DataFormats.FileDrop)) { FileInfo[] files = (FileInfo[])e.Data.GetData(DataFormats.FileDrop); using (Stream s = files[0].OpenRead()) { InlineUIContainer container = new InlineUIContainer(); BitmapImage bmp = new BitmapImage(); bmp.SetSource(s); Image img = new Image(); img.SetValue(Image.SourceProperty, bmp); container.Child = img; richTextBox3.Selection.Insert(container); } } } private void Button_Click_1(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { // this doesn't have the markup from the inserted image System.Windows.MessageBox.Show(richTextBox3.Xaml); } What is the correct way to insert an image into the RichTextBox at runtime so that it can be persisted to a data store? In the Xaml property.

  • WPF Binding XAML vs C#

    - by kubal5003
Hello, I've got a strange problem - binding created through XAML (both ways by markup extension or normal) isn't working(BindingOperations.IsDataBound returns false and in fact there is no Binding object created). When I do literally the same from code everything is working perfectly. One more thing is that the Binding in XAML is created in a DataTemplate - what's funny about that when I use the DataTemplate for the first time it fails, then I fix it from code (add binding to specific objects) and while adding more objects to the collection the binding set in XAML just works. If I try to remove all the objects from the collection and then add a new one the binding fails once again. In reality this is a shortened version of another of my questions. For details please refer to: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2986511/wpf-debugging-avalonedit-binding-to-document-property Sorry for doing it this way, but there's no answer and it's probably too long for anybody to read. -

  • how to make dynamic xaml in silverlight

    - by lina
Good day! I want to make a form - a set of questions with different answer types: some questions have a number of answers and you can check one of the answers using radiobutton, other questions you should answer using a textbox, some answers have a datetime type and you choose answer for them using a DatePicker and so on. I get all information about the questions and answer types from a WCF service. I want to make this form using making a dynamic xaml but i've naver made dynamic xaml and I don't know exactly how to make it. Please, can you give me a council about dynamic xaml or maybe you have any other ideas about how to make this form? Thank you.

  • Export data to Excel from Silverlight/WPF DataGrid

    - by outcoldman
Data export from DataGrid to Excel is very common task, and it can be solved with different ways, and chosen way depend on kind of app which you are design. If you are developing app for enterprise, and it will be installed on several computes, then you can to advance a claim (system requirements) with which your app will be work for client. Or customer will advance system requirements on which your app should work. In this case you can use COM for export (use infrastructure of Excel or OpenOffice). This approach will give you much more flexibility and give you possibility to use all features of Excel app. About this approach I’ll speak below. Other way – your app is for personal use, it can be installed on any home computer, in this case it is not good to ask user to install MS Office or OpenOffice just for using your app. In this way you can use foreign tools for export, or export to xml/html format which MS Office can read (this approach used by JIRA). But in this case will be more difficult to satisfy user tasks, like create document with landscape rotation and with defined fields for printing. At this article I'll show you how to work with Excel object from .NET 4 and Silverlight 4 with dynamic objects and give you an approach which allow you to export data from DataGrid Silverlight and WPF controls. • How do i rotate a 2D picturebox according to my mouse

    - by Gwenda.T
I would want to rotate my picturebox which contains an image. The image will just spin around following the mouse, but the position of the image is fixed. Any idea on how it should be done? Btw using Visual Studio 2012 C# Windows phone application for Windows Phone 8. I've did a little research on google but the other codes were from VS2012 using a WinForm But it's different now I'm not able to use their code. So I was hoping I could find some answer at here! Currently now I have this private void arrowHead_Tap(object sender, System.Windows.Input.GestureEventArgs e) { Duration Time_duration = new Duration(TimeSpan.FromSeconds(0.5)); Storyboard MyStory = new Storyboard(); MyStory.Duration = Time_duration; DoubleAnimation My_Double = new DoubleAnimation(); My_Double.Duration = Time_duration; MyStory.Children.Add(My_Double); RotateTransform MyTransform = new RotateTransform(); Storyboard.SetTarget(My_Double, MyTransform); Storyboard.SetTargetProperty(My_Double, new PropertyPath("Angle")); My_Double.To = 15; arrowHead.RenderTransform = MyTransform; arrowHead.RenderTransformOrigin = new Point(0.5, 0.5); //stackPanel1.Children.Add(image1); MyStory.Begin(); } This is my only way of tilting the image however now I want it to follow my mouse! Thanks!

  • Analytics for Windows 8 apps using Markedup

    - by nmarun
The Windows 8 store does provide some analytics information to you in terms of downloads by market or by age group, ratings, in-app purchases. I find that a little too limiting. What if I want to know what page my users are spending most of their time or what events are being raised more frequently or are my users calling my app through the search contract I implemented or how many times was the share contract called. To answer questions like this, you need a more mature analytics framework. Markedup...(read more)

The Search Contract feature helps improve the accessibility of your application. When a user is trying to search for something through the charms, you see a bunch of apps that get listed below. You see that Store, Howzzat Book and Live Reader apps have implemented this feature. So a user types in some text and clicks on one of these apps and this text is passed to the app where you can show the results of this search directly. Let’s see how to get this implemented. • How to use a derived ControlTemplate in WPF

  • WPF Resource Dictionary in a separate assembly

    - by Gustavo Cavalcanti
I have resource dictionary files (MenuTemplate.xaml, ButtonTemplate.xaml, etc) that I want to use in multiple separate applications. I could add them to the applications' assemblies, but it's better if I compile these resources in one single assembly and have my applications reference it, right? After the resource assembly is built, how can I reference it in the App.xaml of my applications? Currently I use ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries to merge the individual dictionary files. If I have them in an assembly, how can I reference them in xaml? Thanks for your help! Gustavo

  • WPF: How to specify units in Dialog Units?

    - by Ian Boyd
i'm trying to figure out how to layout a simple dialog in WPF using the proper dialog units (DLUs). i spent about two hours dimensioning this sample dialog box from Windows Vista with the various dlu measurements. Can someone please give the corresponding XAML markup that generates this dialog box? (Image Link) Now admittedly i know almost nothing about WPF XAML. Every time i start, i get stymied because i cannot figure out how to place any control. It seems that everything in WPF must be contained on a panel of some kind. There's StackPanels, FlowPanels, DockPanel, Grid, etc. If you don't have one of these then it won't compile. The only XAML i've been able to come up with (uing XAMLPad) so far: <DockPanel xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"> <Image Width="23" /> <Label>Are you sure you want to move this file to the Recycle Bin?</Label> <Image Width="60" /> <Label>117__6.jpg</Label> <Label>Type: ACDSee JPG Image</Label> <Label>Rating: Unrated</Label> <Label>Dimensions: 1072 × 712</Label> <Button Content="Yes" Width="50" Height="14"/> <Button Content="Cancel" Width="50" Height="14"/> </DockPanel> Which renders as a gaudy monstrosity. None of the controls are placed or sized right. i cannot figure out how to position controls in a window, nor size them properly. Can someone turn that screenshot into XAML? Note: You're not allowed to measure the screenshot. All the Dialog Unit (dlu) widths and heights are specified. Note: 1 horizontal DLU != 1 vertical DLU. Horizontal and vertical DLUs are different sizes. • Reference a internal class from a Windows Workflow Activity

    - by Ben Hughes
I'm creating a custom Workflow activity for use within TFS2010. In the same assembly I have a XAML activity and a C# code activity. The XAML activity references the code activity. When the assembly is deployed to our clients, I only want them to be able to use the Workflow activity. The code activity is of little use by itself and would no doubt confuse them. I thought the logical way to do this would be to set the code activity class to internal: the XAML is in the same assembly and should be able to access it. However, when I do that I get an error in the XAML saying that the assembly can't be found. Is there a way to make activities internal/hidden?

  • Why can't I set the Image Source in WPF app?

    - by elmonty
I'm just learning WPF. I'm using VS 2008. I've added an Image control to my XAML, and I added a GIF file to the project. If I use the XAML Designer's property panel to set the image's Source property, the drop-down list for the Source property contains the following: C:\Sample Project;component/pinHorizontal.gif There are several problems with this: My project, named "Sample Project," is not in the root of my drive. Why is ";component" in there? If I select this value as given, I get the error "Property value is not valid" (yeah, no kidding). If I go into the XAML source and set the Source property manually, like so: The XAML Designer gives me this error: "The file pinHorizontal.gif is not part of the project or its 'Build Action' property is not set to 'Resource'." Why is this task so difficult? How do I assign an image source?

  • Linking IronPython to WPF

    - by DonnyD
I just installed VS2010 and the great new IronPython Tools extension. Currently this extension doesn't yet generate event handlers in code upon double-clicking wpf visual controls. Is there anyone that can provide or point me to an example as to how to code wpf event handlers manually in python. I've had no luck finding any and I am new to visual studio. Upon generating a new ipython wpf project the auto-generated code is: import clr clr.AddReference('PresentationFramework') from System.Windows.Markup import XamlReader from System.Windows import Application from System.IO import FileStream, FileMode app = Application() app.Run(XamlReader.Load(FileStream('WpfApplication7.xaml', FileMode.Open))) and the XAML is: <Window xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="WpfApplication7" Height="300" Width="300"> <Button>Click Me</Button> </Window> Any help would be appreciated.

  • Assembly-wide / root-level styles in WPF class library

    - by WarpedBoard
I have a C# (2008/.NET 3.5) class library assembly that supports WPF (based on http://dotupdate.wordpress.com/2007/12/05/how-to-add-a-wpf-control-library-template-to-visual-c-express-2008/). I've created several windows, and am now attempting to create a common style set for them. However, as it's a class library (instead of a WPF app), I don't have an app.xaml (and its contained Application & corresponding Application.Resources) in which to store these styles for global access. So: How can I create a top-level set of style definitions that'll be seen by all xaml files in the assembly, given that I do not have app.xaml (see above)? And/or is it possible to add a working app.xaml to a class library? FYI, I did try creating a ResourceDictionary in a ResourceDictionary.xaml file, and include it in each window within a "Window.Resources" block. That turned out to solve the styling of Buttons, etc... but not for the enclosing Window. I can put 'Style="{StaticResource MyWindowStyle}"' in the Window's opening block, and it compiles and shows up in the VS Design window fine, but during actual runtime I get a parse exception (MyWindowStyle could not be found; I'm guessing Visual Studio sees the dictionary included after the line in question, but the CRL does things more sequentially and therefore hasn't loaded the ResourceDictionary yet).

  • WPF ResourceDictionary and DynamicResource

    - by lanicor
    i am new to WPF so maybe this will be "noob" question but i can't find answer to it (and it seems so easy)... well i am programing WPF app and i want to use smth similar to css for webpages, so i found ResourceDictionary and tried to use it... I have main window in which i create Frame and on click some UserControl is loaded to that same Frame.I include my ResourceDictionary (root/style/Styles.xaml) to my main window like this: <Window.Resources> <ResourceDictionary x:Key="styles" Source="style/Styles.xaml" /> </Window.Resources> in which i have: <ResourceDictionary xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml"> <Style x:Key="ProductsRequired" TargetType="{x:Type Label}"> <Setter Property="Height" Value="28" /> ... I don't use it on my main window but want to use it on my UserControls, which are loaded to that main window and i try to use it like this: <Label Name="product1" Style="{DynamicResource ProductsRequired}" /> Warning i am getting all the time is: The resource "ProductsRequired" could not be resolved. I even tried including Styles to my UserControl <UserControl.Resources> <ResourceDictionary x:Key="styles" Source="../style/Styles.xaml" /> </UserControl.Resources> and nothing happens... Well my question is long but i wanted to be clear... :) P.S. all that logic works in C# code btw private ResourceDictionary myStyles = new ResourceDictionary(); Style ProductsRequired = myStyles["ProductsRequired"] as Style; product1.Style = ProductsRequired;

  • WPF combo box, adding an all options item, when binding to an Observable Collection

    - by Joel Barsotti
So I've got an object that has an observable collection. Most places I bind to this collection I only want the user to select a single item. But in one place I want the combobox to include an all items option. Is the way to do this simply with xaml converter? It seems like doing it in the view model would be a good idea, but it's really a lot dependency object goop to basically wire up an collection that is two objects deep for an on change event, where as the xaml converter just works. But I always feel like xaml converters should be generic and reusable, where in this instance, the xaml converter would be more of a one off. Of course the third option would be to create one off list for UI in the object that contains the standard observable collection. But this seems to be mixing the logic and presentation in a way that makes me uncomfortable.

  • WPF app startup problems

    - by Dave
My brain is all over the map trying to fully understand Unity right now. So I decided to just dive in and start adding it in a branch to see where it takes me. Surprisingly enough (or maybe not), I am stuck just getting my darn Application to load properly. It seems like the right way to do this is to override OnStartup in App.cs. I've removed my StartupUri from App.xaml so it doesn't create my GUI XAML. My App.cs now looks something like this: public partial class App : Application { private IUnityContainer container { get; set; } protected override void OnStartup(StartupEventArgs e) { container = new UnityContainer(); GUI gui = new GUI(); gui.Show(); } protected override void OnExit(ExitEventArgs e) { container.Dispose(); base.OnExit(e); } } The problem is that nothing happens when I start the app! I put a breakpoint at the container assignment, and it never gets hit. What am I missing? App.xaml is currently set to ApplicationDefinition, but I'd expect this to work because some sample Unity + WPF code I'm looking at (from Codeplex) does the exact same thing, except that it works! I've also started the app by single-stepping, and it eventually hits the first line in App.xaml. When I step into this line, that's when the app just starts "running", but I don't see anything (and my breakpoint isn't hit). If I do the exact same thing in the sample application, stepping into App.xaml puts me right into OnStartup, which is what I'd expect to happen. Argh! Is it a Bad Thing to just put the Unity construction in my GUI's Window_Loaded event handler? Does it really need to be at the App level?
